I had to visit CSUN to attend an orientation and I really wanted coffee, so I found Cafe Aficionado through Yelp. I was able to find parking easily in one of the side streets. The cafe itself is brand new and had a nice, roomy interior with a good amount of tables. They also had some board games available. I ordered an iced vanilla latte with almond milk and my girlfriend got the same thing but with hazelnut. The price was as expected for a coffee shop. Our drinks were made quickly because we visited at a slow time. Unfortunatley, both of our drinks were WAY too sweet. I was able to drink half of mine but my girlfriend was barely able to finish 1/4 of hers. The coffee flavor was also nothing to write home about. With that being said, I am willing to give this place another try since it is right by school and it looks like a chill place to come study at. read more

Abby and Reggie are so amazing. The Sean burrito and breakfast croissant sandwich have so much flavor and a big portion. Make sure to get the salsa verde. Cookie butter coffee is tasty and to top it off the vegan cupcake is crazy good. It doesn't taste vegan. I will definitely be back! read more

Service was good, cashier was friendly. The drinks not so much. I got a strawberry lemonade and it was extremely bitter and tasted like straight up lemon juice. I also got a Nutella latte is was ok, the Nutella wasn't melted well. Maybe if they melted it in the shot it would be better. My biggest complaint is that I ask for decaf and was given regular espresso which makes me anxious. Inside was nice, free wifi. Lots of students doing homework inside the shop. read more

So after months I'm just now getting around to write this review and Its been long overdo!! I think it's because I want to keep this place all to myself..hehe. I've been coming to this adorable little spot since they've opened. They're very few coffee spots that have it all (friendly staff, quiet space to work, easy parking, WiFi, delicious chai tea latte). Sometimes I get the avocado toast or croissant egg sandwich. I love that the owners talk to you, call you by name and truly care about their customers. I'm always down to support small businesses that care and truly make an effort to please their customers. Giving 1 star for multiple reasons. We walked in, loved the vibe, we were greeted and everything. We ordered a cortado, ube latte with oat milk and two breakfast burritos. We waited for over 15 minutes, to find out they didn't have oat milk and hot cups and the only cook there left to go buy some. The cashier didn't know how to offer suggestions. And we ordered one burrito with no cheese crust, for both to come out with cheese crust. We asked for a cortado, multiple times we had to remind her we ordered a cortado not an affogato. cos she kept mistakening it for affogato. When time came she still brought an affogato out. The owners of this place set their staff up for failure, having only two workers on a Sunday morning with very little training on customer service and out of important inventory and no hood in the kitchen!!! After all that, my ube latte just came out watery. The cook took the time to talk to us and apologize which was really nice of him read more

First time here and I ordered the iced chai latte with soy. I recommend to order your drinks here with LIGHT ICE. If you look at my attached picture the ice is filled from top to bottom! LOVE THIS PLACE. The valley needs more coffee shops that are not Starbucks and THIS IS IT. The staff is very welcoming and they are open to suggestions. I appreciate that they keep improving! The young men working were nice, but didn't really seem to know what they were doing in terms of menu questions, suggestions, customer service. Watched someone eat behind the counter and use his phone without washing hands. Another one dried a spoon on his apron before sticking it in a drink. And there was a bottle of cough medicine sitting out with store supplies. They just need some guidance with sanitary practice/ customer service/ learning the coffee. There was nobody there that could really lead them with trouble shooting. read more

Went to get a matcha and the first thing i noticed was the color was really dark but i still tried it and it was bad. I think their matcha is culinarily instead of ceremonial; which is made for drinks. Culinarily is made to bake which is darker powder. I only had some sips and it made me sick. Wouldn't recommend the matcha maybe if they switch the matcha powder. read more

We came to this coffee shop to pick-up pre ordered Ninongs pastries (buco pie and ube butter) and ended up ordering drinks. We got the iced ube latte drink and hot cookie butter latte. Drinks were really good, we drank the drinks at home and the room was filled with cookie butter smell (so good!) We got to chat a little bit with the owner, she's very nice and friendly. They offer pies for pre-order as well, I'd definitely wanna try their horchata pie next time, the photos looks so good from their instagram account. A new medium sized coffee shop--independently owned and operated which I think is great for the neighborhood. They just opened a couple weeks ago so they are still settling in. A decent sized seating area with about 10 tables. They also have some board games available for the old school folks. WiFi is available as well as a few outlets for the many devices we now use in modern society. The iced-coffee is not cold brewed but still quite good. They have all the staple cafe drinks available including chai. They currently sell a small selection of pastries and plan to serve crêpes in the near future. One of the best things I've ever drank, honestly! I'm from the Valley originally and was just passing through while on a business trip. This was delicious, creamy, subtle, and a bit sweet with a truly gorgeous espresso taste. The service is fabulous and the owner was so so sweet and hospitable. Wish I was in town for longer so I could go to the Filipino Night that they're having on the third Friday in June! I will be stopping by for this latte as long any time I'm in town! read more

They play music from their personal devices I think because there's often songs playing that say racial slurs and other swear words in them so I wouldn't bring kids here. All and all it's good food and ok coffee. But I think it's a little overpriced for what you actually get. For example I went in and got a hot latte and avocado toast and it cost about $20. read more

Drink and prices are ok. Nothing crazy delicious and cost over $5 for a latte. My problem is that it's really smelly in here. There's not much ventilation. The air is on low and that's fine and all, but is there no fan for all the food being cooked? Smells like cheese and grease in here. It feels a bit suffocating that there's no air flow. Makes it harder to breathe. Also, not enough power outlets. If you go to cafes to work in ktown, there's power outlets every few tables so people can work easily. Not here. You're lucky if you grab a table by the power outlets. I'll probably work elsewhere next time. read more

i ordered the sean burrito and cookie butter latte (with oat milk). the latte was AMAZING - seriously so good, thanks to the barista/worker for steering me in the right direction. the latte had little crumbles at the bottom that tasted like cookie butter. the burrito was also pretty yummy. i'm knocking off 2 stars because: - it took near 30 minutes to get my food as a to-go order. i went on a saturday morning and it didn't seem too busy as well... so i highly recommend only eating here if you're in no rush and can enjoy it at the cafe. - i noticed the cafe gets really smokey from the food - def needs better ventilation because the smoke was starting to irritate my eyes while i was waiting. - the burrito was really "eggy" lol it felt like it was 70% egg, 20% tater tots, and 10% bacon. good but could be way better read more

Awful service. It's ok for them to say to a customer " hey, I'm too busy working on other 4 food orders right now, I can't take your order, can you wait?" I thought it was a joke, when I heard that. I come to the coffee shop to get a coffee which takes a few minutes to make , and I have to wait another 20 min just to place my order, when there is no line? (Just for the information, the place was almost empty. I think like 6 people were there at that time) So their operations definitely need to be improved. How you can have only one worker on Sunday morning at the coffee shop??! The owner of the coffee shop, if you charge for your coffee that much $, please find money to sponsor more workers. read more

This is going to be a compare and contrast with one of their competitors House Roots Coffee. House Roots roasts their own beans so maybe it's not fair, but the pricing is similar. The average of a pour over at House Roots is about $6.50, while Cafe Aficianado is just $5, so they win on price. My first impression upon sipping my pourover at CA was, oh this is over-roasted. I didn't taste any fruitiness like I do at House Roots. The coffee I was drinking was Ethiopia Kayon natural processed from Ragamuffin Coffee Roasters. The weakest link in any cafe is where they source their beans. The tasting notes for the Ethiopian were blackberry, pear, chocolate, floral but it was too over-roasted to pick up on any of those notes. So is House Roots worth an extra $1.50? In my opinion, yes. I wouldn't dissuade anyone from trying CA because taste is very subjective. But for the coffee snob, you will probably prefer House Roots. Note: there is a discount for paying cash. read more

These 5 stars come with their own solar systems. This is really a community space. If you come here they'll learn your name and ask about your dog and if they find out you make art they'll put it on the wall. Will the Nutella Latte and Cookie Butter lattes change your life? Probably. And the Sean Burrito has a cult following, but it's the owners Abby and Reggie that make it special because they love this community (Abby pretends she hates being called the neighborhood burrito lady) they hired two kids from a local youth group and they treat Bri and Joseph and like they adopted them. Neighborhood gem! I used to get a coffee here after my baby's swim lessons (RIP pre-COVID life), and now like to stop by after neighborhood runs (it's a good way to bribe the kids to come on a run). They've created a beautiful community, the coffee and latte menu are fantastic, and the pastries are great too. I also adore adore adore the pop ups they host. I wish the hours weren't so limited since I'm in an "often nap trapped" phase of life (parenting) but I do try to go when the kids' schedules align! read more

I cannot recommend this place enough. If I could give them 10 stars I would! Their staff is so friendly, the owners are professional, kind and personable. They are open on Saturday's. They sometimes open a bit late though. Try parking & going in the back.

Since the opening of this particular business, the Zinc chain has opened in a few other locations. Those locations are much newer in not only their establishment but their design. When we asked for utensils they didn't have any forks so they gave us one spoon and one knife. We made it work. Parking is super convenient--just turn onto Rayen St., and you'll find a lot in the back. The service here is amazing! The cashier was so kind and patient, offering thoughtful recommendations when I asked about their most popular drinks. I honestly wanted to try them all! I ended up going with the Dubai Matcha Latte from their seasonal menu and paired it with a Nutella Crepe with Banana. The latte was beautifully presented and had the perfect balance of matcha and pistachio flavors--not too sweet, just right. I haven't tried real Dubai chocolate to compare, but this drink was unique and absolutely delicious. Fingers crossed they keep it on the menu! The crepe took a little longer to arrive, but it was worth the wait--warm, tasty, and a great complement to my drink. If I would give this place ZERO star i would first I walked in. Everything seemed nice.
