a menu for 40 years and then some

Great live improv theater. Absolutely stellar. Food was great although too much. Haha. Wait, who complains about too much food? Regardless the Cheeto crusted catfish was great our entire group enjoyed their food but enjoyed the show even more. Cast was spot on with the 40 And Then Some theme showcasing the 40 plus years of the Cafe's history along with the changes that Greenville has gone through over that period. And absolutely love that no one is safe from a good tongue lashing. Eminent domain baby! Eminent domain! Haha. Looking forward to the next show.

If you're still doing the same thing 40 years after you started, you have to be doing something right. CATS is a uniquely Greenville dinner theatre, and certainly an experience worth having. Dinner has 4 seatings ahead of the show-only seating, with the best seats offered to the earliest arrivals. It's 20 bucks for the show, plus whatever you choose from the menu. Desserts are ordered ahead and served at intermission, including the Homemade Sin ($7.95) which is a chocolate chip cookie baked during the first act, and served warm with Breyers ice cream, chocolate syrup, whipped cream and nuts. We also tried the pound cake of the night- words to the wise, "save room". We had both the Blackened Grouper Special ($22.50) and Cajun Grill (Blackened Chicken and Kielbasa $19.50), both good, but a little pricey. Dinner, show and a couple of drinks per person- $140 plus tip. Speaking of the show, the music is primarily parodies of songs you'd recognize, with recorded background music played from the back of the room, the talent is not amplified. Getting there early and sitting closer to the stage is a good idea, as some of the vocals didn't make it clearly to the rear of the main floor. We've been a few times, and some shows are simply better than others. "Back To The Jockey Lot" was not the best we've seen. The shows all poke fun at local experiences, with lots of inside jokes on stage and comments to audience members recognized by the actors. I'm sure it's all meant as just good-natured humor. This show is a day in the life of characters at the Anderson County Jockey Lot, with the best lines actually coming ad lib when one character missed a couple of lines during a stage exit and another did both his missed set-up line and her joke. Some humor from one character could be viewed as insensitive to the gay community. Still, I'd suggest taking an "it's just well-meaning satire" attitude and go for the experience.

This place is such a gem in South Carolina!! The atmosphere at Cafe And Then Some was very romantic, and the play was hysterical!! The food here was decent but we love all the desserts they had to offer! Everyone should try this place out! We will definitely be back!

What a MADHOUSE! We bought the premium tickets online, never offered the VIP. We came here at 7pm,…read morebecause the email said regular tickets come 730, VIP comes at 7. Unsure we came at 7 they said pick tickets up 720, we returned 2 lines, the only sign saying prepaid tickets proceed through scanners. Went through scanner, nope VIPs only. The security directed us to the long line that wraps half around the building. It's frustrating and we weren't the only ones to experience this. Once in line, you proceed through the metal detector, past security, there is a booth, where the employees ask your name. Once you provide it, they hand you tickets, and you proceed to the photo area. The staff takes your photos to sell to you later during the show. Before getting to the show and seating, you stay in an area where there is a 3 person band playing, and signing. They do country, as well as some classic rock. The band themselves were very good, and got the crowd to participate in their show, calling out where they are from, and being overall interactive. While in the area, they sell refreshments, alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, popcorn, glasses and so on. At approximately 820pm, the staff directs you upstairs to proceed through the red curtains into the seating. If you buy regular tickets your in rows 4+ going up. These seats provide an overall better view of the arena, it's not so high you can't see, maybe 10 rows to top? The premium seats are first 3 rows, if you have small children who want to be more interactive in the show and have a better view I would recommend these seats. Our waiter Tim, was a great guy, funny, and attentive to needs. The dinner, was served, starting with a roll, vegetable soup. Next came the Cornish game hen, then mashed potatoes, corn on cob and brisket. Overall the food was good, and lots of it! You get your own mini rotisserie chicken, and 1 scoop of each of the other. Before the show starts you pick your desert, our options were apple crisp, or chocolate coconut cake. We got the crips, which came to us hot, and delicious. You can order drinks from the scan code at the table, or the waiter will come by pre show and ask what you would like to drink. Options were coke products, tea (sweet and unsweetened) lemonade, and water. Moving into the show, so first and foremost, i haven't been to a lot of dinner shows. This one however was great, they had horsemanship, races, competitions and more. Once the show begins the show master, begins by amping up the crowd, 1 side is the north, 1 side the south, they have friendly competitions for both sides during the show. They have you cheer on your team, as they race around obstacles, pick up flags and return the competing against the other side. They also do pig races, where you cheer on the north or south, overall I believe there is 10-11 completions, all fun, and gets you amped up. During the competitions they will bring out people from the crowd (2-3 times) and have them participate in the games, and also a little wagon magic tricks. Besides the completion thy putting shows such as riding horses through and around obstacles, a butterfly show (horses with wings, lights and people acting as butterfly's). They also have some aerial displays and parts of the show. Overall a fun experience minus the mass confusion at the beginning, would recommend going especially if you have children. You won't leave hungry, the food I would say is worth it, the show is worth seeing. Things worth noting, it is a little expensive, tickets for 2 can be north of $100, the drinks, for 2 plastic mason jar alcohol drinks with tip $50+. Be prepared to spend a little. 2 show times, 6 pm, and 830pm.

I don't want to give away all the acts but be on the lookout for sweet Buttercup and the races by both humans and animals. The dinner was plentiful: creamy soup, biscuit, Cornish hen, pulled pork, mashed potato, corn on the cob and refills of sweet tea, water or soft drink. You must show your id to purchase alcohol. You have a choice of coconut chocolate cake or apple turnover. You can purchase a souvenir photo for $35. They have a gift shop. The servers work super hard carrying trays of food, serving you and refilling drinks. You are deemed either North or South based on where you are sitting around the arena. The competition lasts pretty much throughout the show. If you purchased VIP tickets you can pet one of the performing horses after the show.

I love that they constantly have new menu items and features so you can keep coming back again and again for something new. This last time, I ordered some sweet potato pancakes (that must have been a special because I can't find them on the menu now) and they were SO GOOD!!! They had nuts in them and they were not too sweet which was surprising in the best way. My wife got the classic chicken and waffles and loved them and our 3rd wheel got an omelet. He cleaned the plate so we know it was realllll good. We also got the fried okra as an app for the table and we were all big fans. The sauce took them over the top on flavor. We have never had an issue with the service. They've always been communicative and friendly, offering great suggestions on the menu. I love the inside of the restaurant. It fits the vibe of the menu very well. It feels very hometown southern which is perfect because it is my baby's hometown and we will continue going back every time we visit.

I was hungry and didn't know what or where to eat, not like there is a lack of options, but did I want ramen or something more local in regional flare? I picked the second one. I ended up at Tupelo Honey because fresh southern fried chicken sounded amazing and this place wasn't going to break the bank. I guess this place is a chain but I didn't know this until I was eating. The staff were beyond friendly and attentive and they answered all of my questions about the food. The restaurant was super clean. I ended up ordering the half bird with original seasoning on it. The seasoning the put on it is a crystallized honey power and something else in it, it gives the chicken a nice sweet flavor but not overpowering. They also have a spicy version for you spice lovers. The half bird came with 4 pieces as one would expect, the crust was crispy and the chicken was awesome. I was eating the dark meat and couldn't get over how juicy it was. The real test as you all know is the breast, is that going to be dry? Nope, it was so moist and flavorful, it was a home run. I guess they brine their chicken for some good amount of time and it shows. My sides though I wish I would have gotten more adventurous, the meal came with two sides so I got a salad and the fried potatoes as a recommendation from the waitress. They were good but the mac n cheese looked better. Overall this place is great and I would go again. It's right downtown and the service was fast and friendly. Great place for some fried chicken .

Right from the way it looked to the way it tasted, there was consistent lackluster vibe. The vegetable bowl was an afterthought of a dish, very unsure brussel sprouts thrown together with a handful of carrot slivers, some odd bits of grains and a very forlorn handful of dry tofu. The fried egg on the top made it edible and I was glad that I asked for it. The crunchy bits of garlic on the side seemed like a fear of commitment. An entry that is named roasted garlic vegetable bowl should claim it loud and proud in every bite. Grouper hoagie... let us just say at that the fries on the side were the highlight of this dish.
