This is the first brunch joint I've tried in Boston and I was not disappointed. I had the steak tip and it was honestly one of the best steak I've had as far as breakfast goes. The meat was very tender and juicy and the caramelized onion added a nice touch to it. The service was pretty fast as well. I was promptly seated (maybe due to the fact I came here at 1PM, way past peak breakfast/brunch hours) and my food was served pretty quickly. Overall, I was very satisfied with my meal. This restaurant is also within walking distance to Boston Common, so a great way to walk off all the calories after your meal.

This cramped hella busy cafe is worth the wait! We happily sat at the counter and watched the staff prepare food nonstop. Service was brisk but friendly and the food was excellent. I had the french toast and my husband had the steak tips and eggs. When you go plan for a wait and be hungry!

Got the Nutella French toast at Cafe Bonjour and it definitely lived up to the hype. Thick-cut bread, perfectly soft inside with a slight crisp on the edges, and loaded with Nutella without being overly messy. The strawberries and banana balanced it out so it didn't feel too heavy. Portion size was solid--borderline dessert-for-breakfast, but in a good way. Coffee was decent, nothing crazy. Place is small and gets packed, so expect a wait. Overall: great spot if you want something sweet and indulgent for brunch.

We had breakfast at Cafe Bonjour, and the food was really good. We ordered the strawberry & Nutella crêpe, which was actually amazing--sweet, well-balanced, and very satisfying. I ordered the eggs Benedict, which came with a small side of potatoes, and honestly those potatoes were a standout. They had this incredible chorizo flavor that made them super tasty and memorable. They also came with a dipping sauce (not sure exactly what it was), but wow--it was delicious . For coffee, we got the Bonjour latte (hot). It was smooth, well-made, and not overly sweet at all, which we really appreciated. The only downside is the space itself--it's small and a bit cramped, with tables very close together, almost shoulder to shoulder. That was the one thing we didn't really love. Other than that, the food and drinks were excellent, and we'll definitely be back for more delicious breakfast. Highly recommend if you don't mind a cozy, tight space.

Some of this was great and some of this experience was extremely disappointing. The space is narrow and tight so be prepared to have people in your space. We sat at the counter directly across from the grill which leads me to my next part...... If you are a vegetarian do not eat anything that is grilled. The cross contamination here is out of control. I ordered a vegetarian omelette but the cook touched everything with the same utensils and gloves over and over and over again. It was disappointing. The women working eggs grabbed several pieces of meat and eggs with the same tongs too. So gross. The potatoes here were fantastic so that was one of the saving graces. I mean some of the best I have had in recent memory. I also really enjoyed whatever brand of bread they use. I had multi grain and it was toasted and chewy. The side salad was appreciated as some healthy greens to start the day. The service was terrible. The server never checked on us throughout the whole meal and nobody ever offered a refill on the coffee. He only came by to drop off the check. I would not come back here again although I can see why it is popular.

Loved this little brunch spot. The staff were friendly and helpful despite the hustle and bustle of the place. Everything was delightful, especially the breakfast potatoes! They were full of flavor. All in all a lovely morning breakfast to start our day.

I wasn't as impressed with Cafe Bonjour as my chum was, and it's clearly well-liked; part of it might have been the rainy weather, part of it might have been my lighter lunch selection but this one just didn't really hit with me. I stopped by in the early afternoon this past Monday with my top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality. This establishment is pretty close to a prior Airbnb we've stayed at and is in a neighborhood we've spent a solid amount of time in, so it's been off and on our radar for a few years. I'm pretty sure we attempted to stop by on an earlier trip but it was too busy - a tribute to the restaurant for sure. Two elements stood out to me almost immediately when we walked in, one good, one bad. On a positive note, the service was excellent - that came across in waves. This is a busy restaurant in a tourist area, and nine out of 10 times, the hospitality would suffer as a result. Not here; we were warmly received as soon as we walked in and were consistently attended to throughout our visit. Top notch in that regard. Con? Personal preference on my end, it just felt kind of grimy in there, like it had taken on the personality of its neighborhood, which is in my opinion not the best and has a homeless issue. There's definitely some personality in there - some gorgeous wood paneling and whatnot - but it was a little too chaotic/claustrophobic for me. I think there's a way they could upgrade the interior without compromising the uniqueness of Cafe Bonjour. I was at the part of our mini-vacation where I didn't necessarily have regrets over my food naughtiness, but my palate definitely needed some legitimate nourishment. I opted for the Signature Blueberry Bowl,, which predictably featured a great many blueberries, and was essentially an acai bowl interpretation with bananas and peanut butter (similar to the Acai Power Bowl at Playa Bowls). It was fine - good portion for what it was. I think they should have made it more...solid, if that makes sense. Like make the blended blueberry aspect quasi frozen so it had more substance to it. Without doing so, it just seemed too liquidy and harder to eat as a result. It was also a little bland and could have used an additional ingredient or two, and the hunks of peanut butter were difficult to blend into the bowl, so sometimes you'd end up inadvertently getting nothing but a mouthful of peanut butter. Not the best, but also probably not their biggest menu selling point. For what it's worth, my chum loved her dish (I think she got the Bennies) and enjoyed her time here immensely. This is one I'd like a do-over on and would be more than willing to come back with a better appetite and revisit - I don't know that my opinions on the vibe/atmosphere are going to change (though maybe some of that is dependent on the weather and this place really shines when the sun is out), but I probably didn't get the best that Cafe Bonjour has to offer.

Cafe Bonjour is a delight. Just a quick jaunt off of Boston Common, this cozy historic building is filled with beautiful architectural details and the warmth of welcoming staff and comforting fare. The wood-lined walls were topped with fascinating moldings and the space was filled with as many cafe tables as it could hold. We went for brunch on a Saturday morning so it was quite busy (a testament to the good food and experience). But the staff could not have been more open and friendly, clearly wanting to make sure each person had a good experience. I can't emphasize this enough. Our brunch was great from the hot chocolate to our meals. The menu has a great deal to offer to every diner. And we loved ours. The service was quick and even though there was a line of people waiting, it went just as fast as they promised. A small post note, the bathroom is as cute and roomy as could be.

My family and I visited this cozy, tucked-away spot for breakfast. The service was great, and everything we ordered was delicious. We ordered the French toast, Salmon avocado tartine and the signature scramble. The space is quite small, though, so it can feel cramped when it gets busy.

This place was worth the wait (30 min on Saturday at noon). It's cramped and we sat at the counter, and the food was amazing. The bonjour sauce that goes on the eggs is excellent, and watching them make the food was a little bonus people at the tables miss out on. Fresh squeezed OJ is worth it too. Our server was on top of it, and although it's a little pricey, you won't be sad. It's a fun restaurant with great decor too.

Our first time in Boston, had breakfast at Cafe Bonjour and it was excellent! They serve breakfast all day. We were greeted by Driss (owner) and had coffee with the eggs and steak tips and an omelet with potatoes . Both were very flavorful and filling. What a waste of money. Very overpriced egg sandwiches that are soggy and greasy. My order was messed up with forgotten toppings and items. The cappucinos tasted like hot garbage water and were virtually cold when we picked them up on time. Theres a lot of better breakfast and cafe joints around the city save your time and go to any of those and not Cafe Bonjour. read more

A gem... almost a hole in the wall on one of the side streets (Temple Place) of Downtown Crossing. It's pretty packed on the weekends, so be prepared to wait a bit. It's totally worth it though. I had the blueberry bowl and my friend ordered the impossible burger. The service is just great. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. While I was waiting, they even passed out two rounds of smoothie shots. If i could give them 7 I would. I Highly recommend cafe Bonjour! read more

best breakfast in boston!! we went there yesterday and the food was lovely, everything tasted amazing and was delivered to us quickly. however, what i believe makes this the best breakfast is more than just food. the coziness and amazing people working there cannot be found anywhere else. they brought us coffee when we were cold (waiting outside) and everyone was just so kind and friendly, out of a fairytale! the place was obviously crowded as we went on saturday, but the ambiance and decor of the site was still cute. must-do. 10/10 read more

This place is expensive, so be prepared. There is really no reason for it to be but it is. The food is fantastic & so many vegan options although they have plant based written instead of vegan. Either way there is alot of great options for drinks, breakfast & lunch alike for food. I just think it's not worth paying that much for something. I know avocado toast is the latest craze past few years but calling it 'tartine' & serving one piece of bread for that amount of money ($12.50) is not worth it. When you get anything veganized they charge you even more which then makes it highway robbery. Getting a salad that basically costs the same amount anywhere else & has more everything than this tiny bowl w/ like maybe two or three veggies is also not worth it. Although am willing to support local vegan places I can't really expect to go there on a regular basis. So if you want to spend your money on this & not get much out of it, more power to you. read more

We had a fantastic breakfast/brunch! The service was wonderful from the moment we walked up to inquire about the wait. The team was efficient and friendly in getting people in and seated. The food was delicious! Between us we tried the eggs, home fries (perfect amount of seasoning). salad and toast, as well as, the plant based sausage sandwich. We also enjoyed trying their vegan muffin and one of their smoothies. All were fabulous-Thank you! read more

Saw the great reviews was so excited to come but had trouble finding the restaurant even after putting it in my gps. I called to get a better idea of where they were located and the person on who answered the phone was not willing to help me or give my a better idea of the location. Cafe Bonjour in Downtown Crossing is an amazing addition to our neighborhood. It's a beautiful spot with high ceilings, an open kitchen and a French cafe vibe. The owners are very welcoming and passionate about their food and diner's experience. It does get busy, but that attests too the fact that diner's know something good when they taste it! read more

By far the best breakfast and service we have had in many years. The food was incredible (our three girls said it was the best crepe they ever had) and the egg white avocado wrap melted in my mouth. Stellar food, stellar service, right downtown! Have nothing bad to say about this place. They were slammed when we went, but the host, who I think was the owner got my family in in about 30min. My family is a party of 7. They were on top of everything from start to finish. OMG! Long wait for this popular restaurant but once inside I almost had to leave immediately. The music is blaring like you're in a nightclub and it's only 10:00 am. The base is annoying as ... We had to scream our order to our server. Everyone else was yelling because that's the only way to hear people across the table. WTF? I came for a nice breakfast and I left wore out and deaf. WILL NEVER GO BACK. read more

Came in for a quick brunch and this place did not disappoint. First the establishment was super clean, everyone working in masks and all tables at a good distance from each other. The menu had so many good looking options. I ended up getting the House omelette and my husband the Steak tips and eggs. The plates came out super quick, looking delicious with a taste to match. Cafe Bonjour is easily my favorite place to eat. Their food is DELICIOUS. Customer Service is BEYOND impeccable. I am vegan, and Cafe Bonjour has truly delicious vegan options. They carry the BEST vegan sausage I've ever eaten. I order it regularly, along with their plant-based smoothies, and honestly, I have not tried anything I did not like. I work nearby, so I order delivery on a regular basis, and Cafe Bonjour is always reliable. Even on the very RARE occasion that something may be off with my order, the owner goes above and beyond to make sure my order is corrected and I am taken care of. He is incredible. The restaurant is incredible. And the food is incredible. 10/10 HIGHLY recommend! read more

As others noted, it's a fairly small establishment, so gets very busy. We (party of 2) were warmly greeted and waited about 10 minutes a little before 9 on a Saturday. Even before being seated, good-size line was developing. Egg sandwich with bacon and avocado on baguette was excellent. Eggs were amazingly fluffy. My companion had salmon avocado tarting which was reported to be excellent. We both had lattes which were likewise excellent. Music was jaunty and cheerful. Service was pleasant. read more

This place is spectacular! A small, intimate location with amazing staff that truly care about your experience. It's a family owned business and they really take the time to get to know you and speak with you. The bar seating is fun because we were able to watch them cook, and the gentleman speaking with you is very friendly! They were very accommodating for gluten free and dairy free allergies and the food was amazing. 10 out of 10 would recommend! read more

The food was great, but I was just shocked at their dine in during covid. Seriously??? Every single table was full and super close together. You could turn around and touch the person behind you. Again, no problems with the food or service, just their safety measures during a pandemic. read more

It's directly across from the iconic Beacon Hill Books & Cafe, making it a perfect stop while exploring Beacon Hill. My oldest also had the Nutella waffles and declared them the best thing he'd eaten during his first trip to Boston, which is about as glowing a review as a teenager is capable of giving. After several days of treating carbohydrates like a food group, I tried to make one responsible decision and ordered the grilled chicken Cobb salad. Best decision of the trip. It wasn't your standard Cobb either. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, the chicken was perfectly cooked, the portions were generous, and somehow every bite was as good as the first. I'm writing this the next day and I'm still thinking about that salad, which is not a sentence I ever expected to type. My mother-in-law ordered the smash burger and said it was really flavorful, but noticeably dry. A little more sauce or a few actual condiments would've taken it from good to great. Prices were surprisingly reasonable considering you're eating in the middle of downtown Boston, and nobody left hungry. Actually, "barely left hungry" is more accurate because none of us could finish everything. Would I wait in that line again? Probably. I may complain about standing around, being packed in like a subway car at rush hour, and wondering whether the person behind me is officially part of my family now, but I'd still do it. Some places earn the crowd. The Paramount is one of them.

The signature blueberry bowl was absolutely delicious--fruity, fresh, and perfectly balanced. And the orange juice? It tasted like it was freshly squeezed, which made it the perfect complement to the meal. If you're a fan of classic breakfast dishes, I highly recommend the house omelette. It was packed with flavor, and those breakfast potatoes that came with it were fantastic--crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. I was so amazed at the outstanding service despite the crowd and long wait times. We went on an early Sunday afternoon for brunch and were told the wait would be 30+ minutes. I have two little girls and they were very hungry and hearing the wait time made me nervous. I asked (I'm assuming the owner) if I could order a pastry or something to hold the kids over until we could be seated. He got me a Nutella croissant and my girls were happy! I asked him to add it to our bill after we ate and he told me not to worry about it as he also has young kids and understands completely. I will never forget this gesture. quality and quantity of food served was good and cost was reasonable. unfortunately horrible service ruined the entire dining experience. waiter spent entire time rushing us through the meal. he provided us a menu and expected an order 30 seconds later. food was served promptly. less than 10 minutes into eating my food with my plate of food 1/2 finished, the waiter tried to take away my plate and provided us the bill. i told him i was not finished yet. less than 7 minutes after that, he came back, took away my plate, asked for my credit card to pay the bill, and took my cup of coffee which i still drinking and poured it into a to go cup. so my party was rushed in and out of the meal in less than 20 minutes. read more

Every dish we tried was to die for! The kale chicken wraps were fresh and delicious, and the blueberry bowls were incredibly refreshing. But the highlight? The Bonjour omelet!! It was, without a doubt, the best omelet I've ever had. Perfectly prepared and packed with flavor. I can't wait to return! read more

From the start, the gentleman at the front door was kind, efficient, and just very accommodating. I got to sit at the bar watching the kitchen staff working so hard to get orders to patrons as quickly as possible. The food was delicious and had quality ingredients. Definitely recommend! read more

Did not disappoint. We went back the next day it was so good. The food was fresh and high quality, the staff and owner were welcoming and food arrives quickly but you are not rushed. The cappuccino is huge, we had bagel & Lox and the strawberry stuffed French Toast and shared. read more

Delicious food and coffee! The place has an open kitchen concept so you can see how your food is prepared - quite an entertainment when you can't wait to get your food. The order was brought to our table by the chef and his team. Very nice touch. Everything was perfect. read more
