Dropped in to Cafe Conti after seeing some of the other reviews. We arrived a little before 10am and were surprisingly one of only two tables. Good thing we got there when we did because within 15-20min every table was full and there was a wait! Their chai latte was probably in the top 3 I've ever gotten anywhere (to include places overseas). We ordered their French toast (that day it was berries and cream cheese), a side of bacon, and their lox and bagel. The French toast was phenomenal! It was really sweet, so I didn't finish it, but it was so obvious it was made to order and was so fresh! I'm not a huge fan of lox, but this was really yummy! It even came with a cup of capers and sliced tomato to go with it. All of which was great. I wanted to try to make a special trip back before leaving just to get another latte-- that's how good it was! Cafe Conti you were wonderful to me! I snagged the last available table and luckily avoided a wait. The wait started soon after I arrived but the staff was trying their best to turn tables around as guests waited outside in the courtyard of the Prince Conti hotel. I loved the decor. A bit of French country flare without being too extravagant. Very charming. Servers were also friendly and fast. I loved watching them work because everyone was pitching in and helping different tables. It showed a great partnership among the staff. The menu consists of stylish yet healthy breakfast and lunch options with special attention given to French and Creole cuisine (including a variety of savory and sweet crepes). When I took a trip to New Orleans last year in June I was excited to eat real southern food! My rule on vacation is: "Don't eat at a place I can eat when I am at home." So glad that we gave this place a try! This cafe was attached to the hotel we happened to stay at. Check the hours because it is only open for breakfast and part of the early afternoon. After a late arriving flight the night before, we walked down stairs to find this cafe before we headed out for the day to explore. All I can say is...AMAZING! I had ordered the Nutella and Banana Crepe. You might think that it wouldn't be much, boy was I wrong. I couldn't finish the whole thing and I am a big guy! Fresh bananas with just the right amount of Nutella! The dish was amazing! We had also ordered a vegetarian omelette with a side of fruit. The omelette was very good, just enough of ingredients inside and the fruit was nice and fresh. So when you're in NOLA...Yelp can often lead you a stray. So many people come to town with the Bourbon Street experience in mind, fall into the tourist traps and give generous rating to mediocre experiences. With that said...it works out. Somewhat limited menu, basically egg dishes, a couple sides and several crepe options. Got the Benedict of the day: mushroom spinach on a croissant. It was awesome. The only downside was that it wasn't fresh spinach, it was piled high with a ton of creamy spinach dip. Not to say it wasn't delicious, it was just really heavy. The croissant was grilled perfectly, the eggs were poached perfectly and the textures made for a perfect combo. Service was good, coffee was just right. So on my last morning in New Orleans I decided I would try out Cafe Conti for brunch because they had pretty good reviews. I have to say, I was a little disappointed with the food. There was just nothing special about it. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. It wasn't bad, but it was just forgettable. It had grilled chicken, mixed greens, tomatoes, and Swiss cheese. I don't remember what sauce it had. Overall, the chicken sandwich was simply average. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but I feel like if it's on your menu, then you should be able to make it well. I had skillet potatoes with the chicken sandwich and they were good, but nothing to rave about. I also tried out my mom's ham and Swiss crepe and I thought it was pretty good considering it's not really something I'd order. There are a few positives about this place that are unrelated to the food I tried. For one, the inside is really well decorated. They have a really vintage look and some nice paintings on the wall. A French theme of course. Just look at the pictures on here if you want to see what I mean. I also like the fact that they have a small dining area. It gives it kind of a more personal feel. Also, I thought the service was really good. Our server came to our table at least 5 times in the 45 minutes or so that we were there and he was helpful with questions about the menu too. So all in all this place isn't bad, but I wouldn't return because I kind of have a high standard for food if I'm in New Orleans. So many other great options out there that why would I bother. They have other great things about them, but there food was strictly average to me, so I have to give them just 3/5 stars. read more

Tucked away right inside the left front windows of the Prince Conti Hotel in the French Quarter, just passed the narrow car entrance and flagged awning, sits a delightful breakfast nook that serves warm southern-style dishes every morning from 7am to noon. My wife and I took a little excursion for our 20th Anniversary and her Birthday this past weekend and made reservations at the hotel for some away time and relaxation in one of our favorite stomping grounds. As locals, we are always pleasantly surprised when we find places that we've passed hundreds of times, but never knew existed. This is that kind of place. There are less than twenty tables with a boothed-wall of seating and the small french-door and windowed cafe is decorated warmly with Napoleonic charm. We ate here twice and each time the wait staff was friendly, informative and eager to carry on fun conversations when engaged. The first morning we got the breakfast biscuit, served open-faced with scrambled egg, cheddar cheese and bacon and the ham and swiss crepe made with smoked ham, imported swiss, shallot herb butter and créme fraische. Each dish was executed well, but I did find my crepe to be a bit overcooked on the outside. The second morning, my wife got the breakfast biscuit again and I ventured into the Southern Benedict which is savory portion of two poached eggs served on top of southern greens, cheddar cornbread and smothered with tasso gravy. After my third bite of greens, I immediately asked the server who was cooking in the back, since I knew that it just had to be a local black cook. Sure enough, she giggled and said, "How did you know? you're right... that's Ms. Bobbi cookin'" Oh yeah! If I had more time I would have ordered just a bowl of greens and asked Ms. Bobbi to come out and have some coffee with us. These are the kind of dishes/items that make culinary adventures worthwhile for they send out a foodie-telegram of both ethnicity and history to all who will listen. Was a let down we wanted to try a cafe au lait or latte but the waitress informed us the are out of milk so no coffee only regular coffee with half & half The food was ok but nothing to impressive there are so many options in the French quarter you really don't have to compromise. One of the guests at the restaurant as he got up to pay ( yes you have to pay like at Starbucks at the cashier) told them the store is a 2 minute walk from you go get some milk and don't let everyone one down there are two of you here so one should go get some milk but she ignored him. The waitress was in a terrible hurry to leave and when I asked her for sparkling water her response was "I don't even have hot water right now." I should have taken her invitation to GTFO but alas, I did not. I was on a timeline and this place was right next to a tour I was taking that afternoon. I tried the apricot/brie/scallion/bacon crepe (minus the bacon) and a side of grits. Needless to say I was less than thrilled. I was expecting fresh apricots and instead received a saccharin jelly. Beautiful, antiquated but clean and bright decor provides a setting for delicious and creative food. We have our favorite breakfast spot in the quarter, but we stopped in here one morning when we just needed to get something to take on the go. We stepped up to the counter and ordered an iced coffee, water, banana and a bagel with cream cheese to go. The server made our order a priority and it was out very quickly. She was super nice and we were on our way. To be honest, I think we missed out not going here for a full breakfast or lunch because their menu looks pretty good. Charming cozy interior and spectacular brunch fare - there's so much to love about Cafe Conti. The crepes in particular are outstanding and the portion is huge! They were out of apricots for the bacon brie & apricot crepe (sounds sooo good though, right?) so I settled on the mushroom & chicken crepe instead. It was absolutely fantastic and wayy too generous in portion. My husband went for a croque madame with a side of potatoes and polished it all off. They were all served pretty quickly at the same time. 1) The Croissant Breakfast Sandwich was rich & extremely filling. I actually shared the dish & we cut the sandwich in half - still filling. The ham was thick & the egg nearly an omelet from the thickness. It was a lil too cheesy & I definitely scraped some off, but neither of us eat cheese very much/often, & swiss is a bit heavy for us, so that might explain why. The side of potatoes w green onions were delicious (this coming from someone who doesn't rlly love potatoes in general). 2) Someone else who is a Huge Eater for such a tiny person ordered the lox and bagel & they were full & satisfied. The salmon was fresh & well cooked, the capers were alright, & the bagel was big and nicely prepared. 3) The crêpe was unfortunately cooled down by the time we got to it, but it was still yummy & sweet. Overall, the only cons were that the cafe au lait wasn't as fresh as we would've liked, & that we had to leave nola that same day. Also, the check was a tiny bit pricey, but not as much as other places we could've gone to in the same area.
