My boyfriend and I came here at lunch time. I've been meaning to go to an afternoon tea type of place. The teapot and tea cups here so sooo cute! The tables are different from one another, making your own space unique and..well yours! We ordered the strawberry cake slice, English breakfast tea, and a hot cafe Vienna. The strawberry was mildly sweet and the tea helped wash down the sweetness. The cake wasn't the best cake I've had but it did the job of meeting my sweet tooth. My boyfriend said it tastes stale/old. Nice little Korean owned cafe in the middle of K-Town. This place is a house turned into a cafe, so the parking lot in the back is very very small. Still it is big enough to fit about 6 cars at most and probably 8 if you double park. The cafe itself is fairly large and gives off a warm cozy feeling. Feels like visiting the typical grandmas home or an art museum. The menu is fairly extensive, they have a variety of options from drinks, to smoothies, to homemade bread made in store. Unfortunately we were too full from lunch so we only ordered drinks. I had ordered the earl grey lavender tea iced which was nice and refreshing. Personally not a big fan of anything lavender scented or flavor, but it was subtly sweet and floral, making it a good pair with the earl grey. However, I prefer quieter places where I can work, and this café is quite noisy. So, I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for a quiet spot. On the other hand, if you prefer a lively place to chat comfortably, this is a great choice. It seems like a family-run business. The male owner is friendly, but the older female owner is somewhat unfriendly. There were people who appeared to be acquaintances of the owners, and she was only friendly to them. This is a really funky cafe cluttered with art and rococo inspired furniture and knickknacks. The person who helped me seemed like the owner and he was super nice. I was planning to sit and have a slice of cake and tea but decided to take a slice of cake to go because of how tacky the setting felt. I was disappointed after taking a bite into a $9 slice and realizing they use a dairy-free (oil based) whipped cream in the cake which I loathe and the berries were soggy so I think it was a few days old. The only thing I liked was the level of sweetness which is very light, typical of Asian cakes. $9 for a slice of cake that tastes like this is highway robbery. At the very least, it should be made of real whipped cream, but I understand the dairy free whipped cream offers longevity. Unfortunately I won't be back. read more

From the start, I could tell this cafe has a lot of regulars. The place was packed with large parties and families with kids; it's definitely a comfortable cafe for hanging out. Not the ideal place to study. The ambiance is lovely and the china teapots/teacups are adorable - my friend ordered tea just for the teapot! But many of the menu items are overpriced. I got Hot tea with an extra teacup and a side of honey and that was over $15. I can't believe a small cup of Honey is $1.00 (in the photo). The customer service here is great and is probably why there are regulars. A nice quiet place to do work and relax. The food here is on the more expensive side for what it is (breads, cake, tea) but in a way I think it's worth it for a nice, peaceful place to chill. There is a small lot behind the building and the interior has a fancy yet homey feel with mismatched chairs and fancy china. The people working here are cheerful and don't bother you if you look like you're doing work. The only thing is that there are signs posted telling you not to use their outlets, so bring a well charged laptop if you're using one! read more

The place is very quaint and homey, inviting, and simply a good place to unwind and enjoy some good hot drinks or enjoy some sweets. My husband and I shared some macaron, ice cream with chocolate drizzle and misugaru, jujube tea, and a latte. Everything was delish. They do have some parking spots in the back, but it's a bit tight. Very homely with several tables all throughout the "house". We ordered mint tea, cappuccino, strawberry shortcake, pistachio and chocolate macaron. Tea served in an oldschool tea cup and pot, very French, strawberry shortcake was homemade and the best I've ever had. Cafe Giverny has made its way up to the top of my list. The bingsoo alone gives me a reason to come back. Everything is organic and the crunchy bits gives it a unique twist which makes its consumption all the more enticing. The presentation of the bingsoo is simple and elegant and it matches the ambiance of their quant cafe. Their playlist, classical instrumentals, only serve to enhance the elegance of their shop and food. Their strawberry cake is like the clouds in the sky. The sweetness is mild and subdued. Truly a cake designed for royalty purposed to allow the taste to develop on your palate. We also tried their sourdough bread and it was absolutely excellent. I'll start out by saying I'm unclear on the root of my interaction and will let the reader make their own determination based on my recount. I went to Cafe Giverny a couple of weeks back because it was one of the only cafes open after dinner and a friend and I wanted to grab some tea and continue to catch up. It was like 9:30-9:45pm on a Friday (at least an hour before it closed). We walked in, there were a a lot of guests and it was pretty packed. I assume the owner and owners wife came to my friend and I (my friend is Japanese and I'm black) and told us they were closing. They CLEARLY were not closed, nor closing. It was weird because I looked at their hours and made sure they were open before we went as well. Ended up going to The Yellow House next door. We walked by Cafe Giverny on our way back to our car, maybe a half hour to an hour later, and they had even more people at their outside table, a big group of whyte people. That said, I'll never go there again. read more

I found a great place to either sit and read quietly or have tea/coffee and amazing pastries/breads. I tried the fig and nuts sourdough, misugaru frape, and pistachio macaroons. The bread was done to perfection, soft texture with the right mix of fruit and nuts. The frape was delicious, tasted a lot like sesame (which is a flavor I love). Not overly sweet, but just the right balance of flavor and sweetness. The macaroon was delicious once at room temperature. Ambiance was great, quiet with classical music in the background. Hidden gem!!! Super cute cafe with a very cozy home/team room vibe. I highly recommend getting the organic roasted grain powder (misugaru) shaved ice. It was possibly one of the best Korean shaved ice I had in a while!! Super nutty flavor with crunchy quinoa puffs on top. Very refreshing and not too sweet - perfect for hot summer days. We also tried a slice of the triple berry piece cake which was also pretty good and not too sweet. The only downside of this cafe is that you have to order one item per person. It's a house that has been converted into a cafe. Street parking in the nearby residentials. The interior is extremely cozy, like a grandma's house with Victorian-esque decorations. This intimate and relaxed setting includes 3 or 4 mismatched tables in the front with a larger area to the left reserved for tea parties. All the furniture is actually kind of dilapidated upon closer inspection, so don't take a closer look... The strawberry shortcake ($6-7 per slice) was exactly what I wanted it to be: A moist, eggy, and light sponge layered with strawberry slices and airy whipped. The sweetness level was of Asian or European style. In fact, my friend and I ordered a second slice LOL. We should have just been real with ourselves and ordered one each. They are huge, but we love sweets. For the tea, we ordered a white pear tea ($5-6 per person) shared in a large tea pot. It was just ok; the flavor was so subtle that I barely tasted it. I'm quite certain that this is supposed to be like Asian pear steeped in hot water until boiling. My parents used to force me to drink that, which is probably why I wasn't too fond of this.
