I called for to go order of crepes, so it'll be ready when I get there and didn't have to wait. I live close by, so while at it, went for a walk to pick my order up and walk my dog at the same time. When I got there, I went in with my dog since there is NO sign at the door that says "No dog allowed". One girl was just standing behind the counter and I thought I would to her to let her know I was just picking up an order, but instead she answered me with, we don't allow dogs in here with a freaking stare at me from head to toe. Looked at me like I was stupid. She's more worried about me walking with a well behave dog than making sure my order was ready for pick up. Just horrible. There's only probably 3 people in there that didn't care at all. I was going to just leave and not pick up my order, but promised my husband a crepes. So tied up my dog in a tree and I STILL HAVE TO FREAKING GET IN LINE AND WAIT FOR MY PRE-ORDER. They're in a neighborhood where people walk their dogs, they have to get over it. Even Bartell have dog treats on their counters. They don't need to be rude about it. They can't avoid it. They're going to lose more customers because of their attitudes towards dog owners. Inside the restaurant is not that fancy and tables/chairs are scattered everywhere. They're not friendly at all. So if you happen to be walking by with your dog, don't bother to stop here for coffee or anything, they will yell at you and embarrass you in front of their other customers. Besides, you probably can make good coffee at home than they do. And they are way overpriced!!! Definitely won't be coming back here ever again. Stayed at an Airbnb right behind this cafe and it really came in handy! They have a good offering of food & coffee drinks. Luckily I was here on east coast time so I was usually first in the door at 6am. However I'd warn against popping in anytime during peak hours. I attempted to get a coffee around 8:30 the line was nearly to the door and after 5 min didn't move one person. There was a lot of chit chatting going on with individual customers and Btwn employees. No sense of urgency. I also came in around noon on Saturday to get a crepe I'd been eyeing all week. I ordered and the employee told me it would be about 45 minutes. FOR A CREPE! So there's definitely some kinks that could be worked out. I however had nothing to do and wasn't starving to I waited the 38 minutes it took for my crepe to come out. I am fortunate to call Cafe Javasti my local neighborhood cafe - a ten minute walk from my home. The crepes, savory and sweet, are delicious. Their buckwheat crepes are gluten free, which is fantastic for my daughter, who has celiacs disease. The cafe serves Dancing Goats coffee, a roaster out of Olympia, WA, which are excellent. I stopped there yesterday and ordered a split shot americano with soymilk. They provided the coffee in a ceramic cup with an open carton of thin, watery soymilk on the counter next to it. There was no cap so I couldn't shake up the soymilk. As soon as the soymilk hit the coffee, it curdled. I handed the cup back, undrunk, and suggested the soymilk may have been old. I came in one morning for a crepe to take home. I walked in and the two girls behind the bar ignored me for probably about 2 minutes before one asked what I wanted. I gave my order and neither of them said anything in confirmation or came to the register so I could pay. Another employee walked in and I was able to pay. I sat down at a table to wait and when it was done, absolutely nothing was said to me about it being finished. Glad I had happened to look over at the bar or I wouldn't have known my crepe was ready. I'd been here once before and thought the service was a little frosty but manageable. But this was just downright poor service and I'm not sure I'll return because of this. I think I found a new home, and it is called Cafe Javasti. It has been on my bookmark list for quite awhile now, and I finally had the time to check it out. And I am so glad that I did!! Upon entering the door, I was instantly greeted by two really nice baristas. You know how at some coffee shops they are kind of nice to you because they are supposed too, but you are viewed as a necessary evil? That is not the case here. They are genuinely nice, and even make eye contact! So, I ordered a Cappuccino with heavy cream, and the barista asked me if I would like it on the wet side, or dry side...imagine that! Then I wanted to get a crepe and couldn't decide between the options, and without me asking, she said that I could mix and match and didn't have to be limited by the options. Wow...I finally decided on a Ham, Swiss, Spinach, and Egg crepe made with buckwheat. Well, let me tell you folks, that was one of the best cappuccino's I have ever had, and the crepe was super good!! Came here on the recommendation from a friend. It was a very nice neighborhood spot to grab a coffee and a light lunch and catch up with a friend. I'm gluten-free and was thrilled that they had buckwheat crepes to choose from. I opted for Savory and my dining companion offered for sweet. I found them to be very tasty. There was. Nice small local place that I keep driving by on my to Northgate shops and Target. Had to stop by due to the ample parking directly out in front of the cafe (particularly after driving around the block this am outside Zoka and eventually giving up.) Glad I stopped in. Nice warm spot with attractive looking baked goods. Warm terracotta walls, blonde wood bar and chairs and tables, two leather lounge seats and low set lighting creates ambiance (although truth be told, it was a bit dark in here even during the day.) Free Wifi without any annoying login difficulties at all, and reggae music at low levels --well you get the idea. My soy latte was a double, and strong, but the soy they were using had an odd taste. The window is a very narrow one for making a great latte, and its involves great expresso, perfect crema, and in my case, tasty soy milk . Since this is my drink of choice, I think we may not be the perfect match, Cafe Javasti and I, but the staff was nice and this looks to be a good, friendly neighborhood spot. read more

Bad coffee. Baristas have sloth movements, not busy and all you hear are chats of 40 yr old aged baristaS and their depressing lifestyles. Anyhow, the specialty are crepes and its rather flavorlessly thick. Make a trip to the city instead for a real treat! This was a pit stop and I cannot get over how I purchase and quickly throw it away in an instant. How do you mess up coffee...and crepes... I guess its my fault for coming to a place really out of nowhere. They attract alot of within the community as this is highly depended on based on the fact that all there is out there is a rite aid nearby which makes this cafe a sad sad option for a hang out spot and nonetheless children to grow up to remembering. yikez! read more

The chicken pesto was delicious and big enough to share with another person. But we didn't like the daily special crepe too much as the ricotta cheese had a weird texture and did not fit with other ingredients. I recently moved to the neighborhood and Cafe Vita in Seward Park was my usual stop on the way to work. Imagine my delight when I walked into Cafe Javasti for the first time and discovered they brew my favorite coffee - Batdorf Bronson! I used to run a little espresso stand years ago and we served this brand and I've had a loyalty to it ever since. It's a local roaster out of Olympia and the the hint of caramel and spices in the Dancing Goats blend is unrivaled. I work as customer service representative for more than 10 years and I know for sure how important is to go the "extra mile". In this place they don't even try to go the "extra minute". We arrived and we were making the decision which crepe we will be ordering when a guy came to us and told us that they WON'T sell us crepes because they will be closing in 30 minutes, wait...what??? And I asked, at what time they stop selling crepes?? He replied, just now, come back because they are delicious...SERIOUSLY??! It was 5:30 pm, super early to denied service. Absolutely one of my favorite coffee houses, but not just for the coffee but also the scones. The baked goods are all made in their nearby "little kitchen" every day, and I enjoy the rotating selection of sandwiches and crêpe specials. The crêpes can take a little while to cook because they only have two griddles for space reasons (so beware if with a larger crêpe-curious group), but they're well worth the wait. Very friendly and helpful staff (who have learned my name and standard order). I also use their coffee travelers for PTA meetings and the like (which sadly are not happening this year during the pandemic), you just order them a day in advance, and they're always ready on time. read more

Coffee is the most important thing at a cafe. It needs to be delicious. This place delivers. Latte, Americano, Cappuccino, etc. Every day when I leave for work I stop here because I need (yes, need) the balance and flavor of my americano. You can't hide bad technique or ingredients with a simple drink like that and the baristas here deliver, consistently. Which reminds me, Baristas are the most important thing at a cafe. Yeah, you need the coffee but c'mon you know you want a good social experience when you visit a cafe. Who wants boring transactional coffee commerce?!?! I like to be able to chat for a few minutes with real people and the baristas here all have a good attitude and like to engage. I've got a bitter and ironic sense of humor and nothing beats a bit of bitter morning banter. Unless you think crepes are the most important thing about a cafe. Because this place has crepes. And I'm not talking about pre-made-frozen-microwaveable-flat-tasting-made-in-some-factory-in-Peoria-a-few-months-back-by-somebody-who-probably-spit-on-them-anyway kind of crepes. Apparently, we really do teach best what we need most to learn. I just discovered crepes in my 'hood on a perfect Sunday morning and I'm fighting the expectation that all my visits to Cafe Javasti will be just as perfect. After a weekend filled with a passel of teenagers whining "we're hungry" I decided I deserved a break and set out to walk to Cafe Javasti. It's been there for a long time, but I've never visited. I assumed, like any intrepid Yelper, that I'd eventually make it there, but saw no reason to make a special trip. Idiot. Moron. Dumbass. THEY MAKE CREPES. Really good crepes. I had a savory with mushrooms, tomatoes, mozarella and pesto and could not find one thing wrong with it. And, they're large. No small crepe pan for these babies - they're done on a griddle. The zucchini carrot walnut muffin was outstandingly moist and dense and full of flavor, made on the spot, and the soy latte - oh dear coffee gods - it was caffeine nirvana in a cup. The crema had a beautiful design that never went away and remained in the cup until the last drops. The espresso was smooth and rich. It's small but warm on the inside and full of people, but I sat outside on the sidewalk, basking in the sunshine, reading a book, watching cars and people and dogs stroll by on a typically sleepy Wedgwood morning. I may be done with Javasti. I have gone here many times since my initial review and I am quite sick of the menu. I like the savory crepes and there really isn't much to choose from. They are happy to add mushrooms to the #8 for me which adds a little diversity but I would like a few more options. Maybe some with egg? Or sausage? BACON!? The special rarely has meat in it, at least when I go, so I never get it. During my last trip the woman behind the counter was very rude to the gentleman taking my order. I believe he was training. He did make a few mistakes, but nothing enough for her to treat him like dirt. Also, your tables fucking always wobble. That's lame. Fix that shit pronto, it's not that hard to do. read more

On my way to the bank I quickly stopped by the Cafe Javasti in Wedgwood. It's really dark in there, and a total tight fit, but to make up for that they have really good coffee, and they also make sandwiches, and from what I could see they served breakfast items. I didn't have time to sit in the cafe to get the full experience of it, but I could tell that its a pretty, decent hole-in-the-wall coffee place. I also liked the T-Shirts that they were selling with the Cafe Javasti logo on the front, and the coffee mugs they were selling looked really smart, and practical. I ordered a london fog (off the menu) and we ordered two crepes- the nutella/strawberry one and the mushrooms, pesto, mozzarella, tomato one. Such fast service for my order and it was truly perfect. Most excellent savory crepes (the only kind I've tried, but I can't imagine that the sweet crepes would be any less tasty). I actually haven't had coffee here, just soy chais, but all have been well prepared and are not overly sweet. I've come here a couple times in the last few weeks to have a bite and work and it's been great. Admittedly, as Junko S. mentions, it can get very crowded. Coming in as early as I have been, I always get a table near an outlet. Note, the wi-fi connectivity can be slowly and sometimes iffy. I met up with a friend here for breakfast over the holidays. It is a cute little cafe with plenty of tables. I was salivating the moment I saw the menu. It was tough to choose what to order! I was debating sweet vs savory crepes and ended up with a savory one - Sauteed Mushrooms, Swiss Cheese, Tomatoes, and Spinach. It was very tasty! Luckily, I got a bite of my friend's Goat Cheese, Apricot Jam, And Toasted Almonds crepe as well to sate my desire for something sweet. And even double-wow that their Chicken/Pesto/Tomato/Mozzarella Crepe is fairly low-carb, such as things go, and the (lemme see if I can finally get this all) iced-non-fat-sugar-free-hazelnut-latte was to DIE FOR. All for less than $10 and neurotically low-carb, except for the couple of tsp. of flour in the crepes and the handful that the dear cow contributed to the skim milk. Yum!!!!!! I had the strawberry and vanilla cream crepe with a nonfat caramel latte. I ate/drank every last bite/drop. It made me very happy :) I went with my boyfriend on a late Sunday morning. My wife and I used to frequent the Maple Leaf location on 5th Ave. Now, we go to the second location in Wedgwood at 8617 35th NE since it's a little closer. Scott and Anne Marie serve up rich Batdorf & Bronson coffee in this pleasing neighborhood shop. The quality of coffee is worlds apart from Starbucks' mass-market approach.
