    Shrimp Pomodoro Pasta: YUM!
    Jill M.

OMG! The "Shrimp Pomodoro Pasta" is to almost die for! Soooooo delicious and a nice size portion! I highly recommend it! At first when you walk up it looks like a teeny tiny place and then you find out there is a whole hidden covered patio, which is where I sat. Service was great and I was checked on by two people to make sure that I was happy, which I was. I really like the atmosphere in the patio which is airy, roomy, colorful, and comfortable. I think the price of the food was commensurate to how good it tasted so I didn't mind paying $24 for my dish. I wanted to try desert but I had eaten too much pasta. LOL. I will definitely be going back here and suggest you give them a try. Parking can be tricky since it's metered street parking but I was able to find a space about half a block away.

Breakfast Paris Sandwich with Potato Gratin & Fresh Seasonal Fruit
    Kelly L.

Stopped by Saturday morning with my friend. Cute but smaller restaurant. It wasn't very busy. Staff were friendly and gave us some bread on the house. I ordered the Breakfast Paris Sandwich with Potato Gratin and Fresh Seasonal Fruit. The croissant was great. Very flakey, crisp, and buttery. Everything else was pretty standard. Nothing really stood out to my friend and I. Overall, I'd recommend if you're looking for a breakfast spot in the area but not necessarily a must try. Parking: A little tough. There is paid street parking. Got lucky and found free parking in the neighborhood behind.

We have loved coming to this place for more than 10 years. We really like the new restaurant, it is welcoming and comfortable. Our hosts Rayn and Robbie are terrific. Are server Julio did a great job as well. This is the first time I had the crepelette, And it is stupendous. I had everybody taste it, and everybody gave it five stars. All four dishes were so tasty. We brought our three pups, and we all had a wonderful, delicious meal. I can't rave enough about this place, the people the food the ambience. Just a delightful meal

Soleil Pancakes w/ Nutella & Fruit, La Carnaval Crêpe - Mar Vista | Los Angeles, California
    Justin L.

I've been meaning to stop by for brunch, but saw their windows taped up and thought they closed. Was happy to find out they actually just relocated from Culver City to Mar Vista. Cafe Laurant can now be found along Venice Boulevard, close to the library and post office. Most of the nearby streets are paid parking, but there are free spots if you drive into the residential areas. The meter was 25 cents every 15 minutes so honestly I didn't think it was a big deal paying a dollar for a spot out front. They have seats outside by the sidewalk, inside, at the bar, and in this sort of enclosed patio area. Complimentary bread was served before the meal. On the breakfast menu you'll find quiches, crepes, omelettes, pastries, and other typical dishes. You can even build your own crepe or omelet by choosing from their ingredients list. Lunch has a hodgepodge of different things like salmon, pasta, Croque Monsieur, Croque Madame, desserts, and more. Burgers and sandwiches come with your preferred bun (sesame or brioche). They serve Lavazza coffee. Brunch was enjoyable. The Pain Perdu (French toast with brioche, butter croissants, raisins, cranberries, Canadian maple syrup) had interesting textures and flavors. The La Carnaval Crêpe came with fresh strawberries and bananas. My Soleil pancakes were kind of bland but the Nutella spread made it palatable. Per dish, expect to pay $15 - $22 for breakfast and $20 - $25 for lunch. Open every day 8 AM - 3 PM.

amazing waffle! its more soft than crunchy which I prefer but the fruit was very sweet and fresh and lots of it! The ambiance was also so welcoming and beautiful, the owner spoke to us about the menu and shared his favorites which was a nice welcome to our first time here. A bit on the pricier side for brunch but good

Created my own: cheddar, olives, red peppers, cilantro, mushrooms, and turkey sausage ( well done).

Definitely one of the best omelettes in Los Angeles. Made perfect to order. Crested my own: cheddar, olives, cilantro, red peppers, mushrooms, and turkey sausage.

Above my expectations. I wasn't excited about the price of a $25 Breakfast Combo plate - but it would have cost double in Beverly Hills. Ingredients & the Dishes were great. I had the Fancy Brunch which could've been a heavy plate, but was nicely balanced. If the weather is nice, the sidewalk seating can be fun. I would feel confident taking 'my Boss' here for a Brunch meeting.

Quiche and Grilled Herbs Skirt Steak Salad

I haven't been to this space since Atmosphere Café had closed down, so it was nice to see how Café Laurent redecorated the space. I'm glad they kept the side patio space because it's my favorite part. In honor of the Olympics happening in Paris, why not have some French food! The quiche aux olives was a generous portion and I enjoyed every bite. The side salad and potato gratin were both delicious as well. The only critique is that the potato gratin had a tad too much cheese for my taste. It was more cheese than potato. There is NO shortage of cheese on the menu, so rest assured you are taken care of, cheese lovers! My friend had the skirt steak medium rare and she said it was great and would order it again in a heartbeat. Cheers to Pedro for delivering on attentive and hospitable service!

I'm from out of town. But was expecting it to be more of a Parisian style Café. However, it was quite basic. Food was also mediocre. But staff were really friendly. We kind of wish we went elsewhere as there are so many other great options for cafes.

Are you all closed? Did you move? I went to the location down the street from Sony (the one in ma y pictures) and it was closed! I called and no answering machine and no person answers. However, I noticed just now a different address? Did you move?

Yes they moved to Mar Vista.

    Is this place study friendly?

No. It's more restaurant, not coffee shop.

Where is the best place to park?

There are a handful of spots behind Restruant & free parking in neighborhood. Be sure to read signs. Also, plenty of metered parking on street.

Do they sell whole Quiches to go?

    Yes they do.

Has the ownership changed lately? The service has gotten so much worse over the past year, and the you used to be able to be able to bring your own brunch bubbles for $5/bottle. We were charged $20 for 2 bottles of our own champagne w/ OJ

Hey Joey K, the carafe of OJ is $7 or $10, I can't recall, so they only charge $5 corking fee per bottle, so compared to most spots...it's still a good deal. Where else can you get 10 mimosas for $20 total

Anyone knows what kind of jam it is they bring with bread as you sit down? We really liked it but forgot to ask.

It's raspberry jam, that they make themselves. ? They use to sell it, but not anymore. Maybe inquire with them on your next visit, you might get lucky ?

Love the place been going for breakfast every Sunday for years but you have to get early to get a table or wait?

Early early early, the end! It's always packed

He was very attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us recommendations. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to atmosphere or service. The food was rather bland both in taste and looks. There was no color in the food; in fact, they all look pretty similar. The same can be said for the taste - they all tasted similar and nothing really jumped out in terms of flavor. Given the high prices for the dishes, we expected much more. To be transparent, we ordered six dishes, one mocktail, one cocktail, and one beer, all of which totaled about $300. Note that they also add a 4% fee to every check.

The decor was modern chic on the outside and the inside decor was different on the inside- hipster cafe with quotes. The food itself was unbelievable! The pricing is on the higher side but worth it given the taste! We had bone marrow which had a nice buttery flavor; the Beef bourguignon was tender and well flavored; and their house special Black cod (available only for one week) was so flavorful and cooked delicately that it melted in our mouths! It was the best fish we ever tasted and we didn't even know fish could taste like that!!! We also recommend the mango passionfruit lemonade. Not too sweet and tasted very fresh. We also thought it was one of the best and freshest lemonade we ever tasted! The service was absolutely on pointe thanks to Kaiya, Teri, and Randy. Warm, polished, attentive, and just the right amount of fun. We started with the baguette bread service, which is an additional charge but 100% worth it. The bread, salted butter, and mixed berry spread were pure France in a basket. Next up was the French onion soup, and wow. Cheesy, full of flavor, with a beautiful broth that somehow managed to be rich without being too salty. Perfection. Then came the Big Mec burger, as seen on Food Network's top burgers -- and yes, it absolutely lives up to the hype. Definitely enough for two. Perfectly seasoned patties, melty cheese, a fresh brioche bun, and that bordelaise sauce bath underneath? Flavor-forward, decadent, and unforgettable. We rounded out the meal with a slice of French toast because apparently we make excellent life choices. Also delicious, also worth sharing. This was not just lunch -- it was an experience. Got seated on the patio on a beautiful day, so we were perfectly happy. After a quick glance at the menu, our recommendations from our server, we decided to order. We started with the escargot, as one does at a French restaurant, and the French onion soup. The escargot cube bathed in butter, garlic and parsley and were very tasty. I mean, how can they not be when bathed in garlic and butter? The French onion soup was also delicious with ample gruyere cheese overflowing. Pure indulgence! For entrees, we all tried something different. The steak frites were.... steak frites. If you've tried one, you've tried most, so not very memorable. The duck confit was cooked well and not overly fatty, which was nice. The omelette, let me say, is beautiful to look at. You almost don't want to touch it because it is very picrure-esque, and absolutely cooked perfectly. A, dare I say, perfect omelette. Finally was the Big Mec. Now, there are a lot of good burgers in Los Angeles, but the Big Mec is one of the greats. So much flavor with the double wagyu patties, cheese, special sauce all while sitting in a Bordelaise sauce. It isn't something you would eat every day, as it is heavy, but it is phenomenal when you do. I'd say one of the top five burgers in Los Angeles, in my humble opinion. Overall, delicious French restaurant in Hollywood, a little above Hancock Park, serving delicious food. Get the escargot and French onion soup to start, and definitely get the omelette and the Big Mec, you will not be disappointed.

Pasjoli seems to enjoy that ideal level of popularity where it's easy to book without planning in advance but also pleasantly busy on a random weeknight. Attractive interior, despite a name that translates to "not pretty," with two adjoining dining areas decorated with art and floral wallpaper, as well as a tres joli centerpiece bar. Some of the tables for two seemed small and close together, but we got a good one by a window and enjoyed a leisurely dinner. Our waiter Kaelen took great care of us, and we also got help from the sommelier, who recommended a nice Spanish Tempranillo to go with our food. In retrospect, everything we ordered was on the heavy side, but that's what happens when your husband doesn't eat his vegetables. And I have no regrets about the lush, creamy chicken liver mousse, finished with a thin layer of tart cherry aspic and served with perfect golden slices of baguette. I also quite liked the crêpes, warm and supple with beurre blanc, aged parmesan, chives, and caviar. Apparently Pasjoli is known for their burger--Kaelen mentioned it had been voted the best in Los Angeles. I can't find a source for this, but I believe it. The burger was exceptional, reminiscent of the renowned Big Mec at Petite Trois (and I give the edge here to Pasjoli). A thick, juicy, flavorful patty served on fluffy brioche with cheddar, grilled and fried onion, and marrow aioli. (My husband hates mayonnaise and we were pleasantly surprised that we could get it on the side, along with some humble ketchup.) It cost $28 with an extra $8 for an order of frites, which were also fantastic. We got the pork chop for our other entree, and this was solid, if less of a standout. The pork was tender, served with roasted market carrots and pork jus. For dessert, we shared the PJ sundae, a cup of vanilla ice cream cloaked in duck fat caramel and candied almond. Absolutely delicious. Santa Monica is a bit of a trek for us, but we very much intend to go back to Pasjoli. I'm interested in the pressed duck dinner, but would also love to revisit the chicken liver and burger and ice cream sundae, with perhaps a green vegetable and another good bottle of wine.

I loved the duck confit salad, the duck breast was good, but I was truly blown away by the creamy polenta that was served with the duck legs. My duck leg was pretty overcooked though and the duck breast was a hair too raw for me. For the price, I wouldn't get it again - especially given that it just wasn't a very perfect meal - but it was a fun dinner nonetheless!

We also noticed that the dress code is very loosely enforced as there were numerous people there with T shirts on. We got there for our reservation about 15 minutes early and was seated quite fast. The hostesses at the front were quite friendly and the wait staff were attentive and mostly nice. One of our servers seemed a little curt at one point, but it wasn't too bad. Once you are seated they ask about your drink order, and offered wines, sparkling water, and literally said "tap water". Pretty surprised that they said tap water, but we went with a glass of wine and sparkling water. The menu is short and it's easy to make your decision. We went with the 24oz Prime Ribeye Steak, Pappardelle pasta, Kingfish Crudo, and the Portuguese Piri Piri Shrimp. The ribeye was served with scalloped potatoes and green beans that were delicious. The ribeye was a perfect medium rare, tender, and served in a very balanced sauce. The Piri Piri Shrimp was also great. Large pieces in a slightly spicy cream sauce; I would describe it as almost a Cajun flavor. These were my favorites of the dishes we ordered on this night. The Kingfish Crudo was a nice choice. I believe it was yellowtail served with small pieces of cherry tomatoes and peach chunks. The sauce was nice and refreshing with a little sweetness. The Pappardelle Pasta was ok, and probably my least favorite dish of the night. It wasn't bad, but wasn't on par with the rest of our meal. The thick pasta noodles were al dente, and the sauce was nice and creamy with pieces of green beans. It got better once we mixed the poached egg into the sauce, but still didn't get it to the point where we would order it again. Since it was my fiancé's birthday, she wanted to get one of their desserts served as a small birthday. She saw pictures of their passion fruit coconut cheesecake on Instagram and wanted that, but they changed it where the passion fruit was at the bottom of the cake. I thought it was decent, but not a great dessert. I thought the staff would at least sing happy birthday like other restaurants, but that didn't happen here. Overall, The Little Door is a small romantic stop to have a date night. I don't know if I would consider it a place to celebrate a special occasion though. I think we would come back, but not for anything big. Also, I would recommend using the valet, it's right in front and they only charge $14 pre tip.
