    GF French toast

Cafe McBryde will forever be my family's special place. My child and I have been coming here since before Covid and the owner is such a sunny gal! Super nice, friendly, and always welcoming, making it a very cozy and homey type of feels. Even after long absences since my son moved schools she still remembered him each time we dropped in even though he was a few years older and a few feet taller! The food is still as good as it was a few years ago. I'm not really sure if the menu has changed today but at least it remains consistent and they kept rice and Gluten-Free bread as options. I love that they still carry gluten free bread!! My child had the GF French toast covered with bananas and syrup and he completely wiped that plate clean! I hope this place sticks around forever! I can imagine us walking in for breakfast another 10 years from now and she'll still remember us.

Small diner (like less than 10 tables inside) that feels homey with all the random decor that don't really make sense. The order came fast, but unfortunately, our hashbrowns we're not crispy how we requested. Also, their maple syrup didn't taste like anything. It was too watery. We ended up taking the French toast home for better syrup. The food was good but nothing memorable, esp for the prices.

Ok let's start with the amazing owner's customer service and warm welcome. This is a local cafe we found on Google. We had an hour to eat between my kid's game! Loved everything about here. Most important, the service we received added to the taste of the food. Will definitely come back here if in the area. Despite it was busy, they took care of every customer in a unique way! Love the fall decors, very family friendly!

My son was craving pancakes this morning, so we wandered into this little breakfast spot that was already buzzing early. Nothing fancy. Mismatched mugs, random photos on the walls but the kind of place where the staff knows everyone's order before they sit down. It felt like a movie scene. Different people, different stories, all crammed into this tiny room over coffee and eggs. It was chaotic, warm, and oddly comforting. Reminded me I still need to learn how to make pancakes, but until then, this place feels like home.

This is a small hidden gem, located is a cozy neighborhood. Service and food were 10/10. I will definitely be coming back. Loved how they have different styles of mugs as well as their wall art. This place has its own style and I am here for itn

Just a typical small diner. I went here for brunch with my family. We ordered a waffle with eggs and bacon, a grilled cheese sandwich with fries, and the McBryde omelette. Waffle, bacon, and eggs were pretty standard. The grilled cheese was kind of sad, with not much cheese. The omelette felt more like scrambled eggs laid on top off avocados and bacon. The servers were nice. I feel like we might have felt better about everything if we didn't have to wait 40 minutes after ordering to get our food. I'm not sure if the wait is always this long. A server said something to another table about phone orders and cooking for next door, so maybe next door had an event or something?

Down-to-earth, unpretentious eats. I planned on pancakes but then the waitress walked by with a chicken fried steak and it was love at first sight. Tasty coffee, crispy hash browns and genuinely friendly service too.

    Gluten free menu?

They do have Gluten-Free bread and the owner is knowledgeable about celiac... no GF pancakes I'm afraid but can get GF French toast.

Open by the weekend? hopefully for memorial day for sure!

A true hidden gem right at the bottom of Solano Ave in Albany!…read more I'm embarrassed to admit that Picnic has been around for about 5 years in the east bay and I've just tried it for the first time this week. But I'm so glad I was finally introduced to it. The staff greet you promptly when you enter and you can even watch them work effortlessly together in the open prep-station behind the counter. They have a gorgeous display of deli items, wines, cheeses, cold sides, and even some cute candles & house made croutons. They've got everything you would need for an elevated picnic or even a barbecue with the family. They have an intriguing selection of house made sausages-- the Chicken Tikka Masala sausage caught my eye and I can't wait to try it. They also sell whole smoked quail that are seasoned heavily yet each bite has just the right amount of smokiness, spices, and salt. Their hot food items and sandwiches are perfect for a quick lunch during your break from work or on your way home. There are also a few counter seats if you want to enjoy your meal there. So far I've tried the smoked quail, the Muffaletta sandwich, and their green lentil soup with chicken + veg. The sandwich was filled to the brim and each bite was a flavor bomb. The lentil soup was very comforting & paired well with the smoked quail. I'm looking forward to trying everything they have to offer.

I really wanted to love this place. Very small and quirky, limited menu. I'm not really a "salad is…read morea meal" person, although my two best friends are. They were very happy with their arugula salads. I ordered the mac n cheese which was okay. Even though I grew up in El Cerrito, I sometimes feel like my NorCal green card has expired. I've lost touch with my small batch, organic self. (Although I have never liked arugula) This store is adorable and just the kind of independent neighborhood place that should be frequented and appreciated. Unfortunately I also had to use the bathroom and they don't have one for customers. So they recommended walking a block away to the BevMo. So I guess that added some negative feelings.

Located inside Young's Market. There was no wait when I went…read more I ordered 3 sandwiches: Reuben Pastrami, Smoked Turkey, and Smoked Salmon. My total was $52. I only ate the Smoked Salmon, so I can only review that one. I enjoyed it! There was a lot of smoked salmon (dare I say too much?) and it tasted of... smoked salmon. The sandwich was filling because of how much salmon there was. The bread was kind of thin and falling apart so it was a little messy to eat. The sandwich would have been better with hardier slices of bread and more evenly spread salmon. I heard good reviews about the other sandwiches. I purchased drinks from Young's while my sandwiches were being made. Parking was surprisingly easy (Sunday at 11am).

That is, until recently, when I noticed there was a pile of rotisserie chickens on the counter. I believe it was Larry, the personable butcher, who helped me pick out the most succulent one. He runs the counter completely separate from the rest of the market. That has become more noticeable recently as Young's appears to be going through an ownership change. His meat selection is consistently top quality, and the robust salad and sandwich menu is enticing. But for now, just give me the cluck, a whole one for $10.50 and enough to last for three days (photo: https://bit.ly/3mTCTM2), along with the Red Bliss Potato Salad at $4.50 per pound (photo: https://bit.ly/3mSOI56).
