I sat at their bar and I ordered the pizza Margherita. The pizza has fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, basil and extra virgin olive oil. This pizza was pretty good. Instead of using fresh sliced tomatoes they used tomato sauce. I really prefer the texture of the fresh tomato slices. The pizza had a nice taste. I would have like it even more if it had large basil leaves all over it to enhance the smell and taste. I received good service at the bar. A family member really likes shopping in the mall and then hitting California Pizza Kitchen. Unfortunately, the seating system at this location is not good. You can see rows of empty tables but still have to give your name and get a pager. After waiting for the host or hostess, you'll likely wait again for a server to appear. Service is definitely not their strong suit, and this location has been open far too long for these issues to still be happening. That said, the kitchen staff and food are what keep us coming back. The portion sizes are generous--we always have leftovers--and the pizzas reheat beautifully. The free bread and olive oil on the tables are also a nice touch. Our go-to pizzas are the Sausage, Pepperoni & Mushroom, Thai Chicken, and California Club--all consistently solid choices. I recommend signing up for the CPK Rewards Club, since they send free items from time to time. We were shopping at West County Center and realized we were starving. We couldn't find the food court so we stopped by the "Restaurant Village" section in the mall. There wasn't many restaurants left, but CPK was open and busy. We decided to grab a booth inside. The service wasn't good. It took us a while to get seated, and our waitress was too busy chatting with other tables to take our order. The only people who seemed to be working hard were 2 very elderly women, maybe in their late 70s or early 80s. They were nice and helped us out. The food was meh, especially for the price. I got a mocktail of sorts, which was pretty good for $3. They did start us with some bread, but it was overly crunchy, almost stale. Our entrees took a very long time to come out though, so we appreciated the gesture. The entrees were overpriced, sadly. My Burnt Ends Pizza was pretty tasty but it was lukewarm, and the Cesar Salad was wilted. My Mom thought her pizza was good, but also didn't love her salad. The host greeted me immediately, and when I said I was dining solo, offered me a seat at the bar. Which, of course, I happily accepted, because I love watching the pizzas being cooked in the oven. It was absolutely packed around lunchtime, but the bartender, TJ, greeted me and the other lady who walked up at the same time and asked what we'd like to drink. He brought out a couple slices of bread and olive oil with seasonings for dipping. Tasty. I ordered the Thai pizza. When it came out, I was looking for cilantro (I've had this pizza before and that ingredient had been left off). I did find some, but the server saw my scrutiny, asked for the reason, and offered to bring me extra. Yes, please! I love cilantro, and that's a big motivator for me ordering this particular pizza. We got seated quickly, and our waitress, LoDog, was fantastic--super kind and attentive. I have been wanting to try this place for awhile. It's located in West County Mall . It was kinda busy but check in was still quick. Only a ten min wait. I liked the decor of the restaurant, kinda sporty with skateboards and graffiti. I loved the hustle and the bustle of chefs moving about. Loved the wood fire grill. Took my mom out to lunch and we stopped in at Cali Pizza Kitchen to share a pizza. We choose one of the favorites on the menu, BBQ Chicken. The pizza had a lot of flavor and I really enjoyed the bbq sauce. The waiter was great, she recommended the thin crust option and it did not disappoint. We love CPK yet we went to one today that opens at 10:30 at West County Mall in St. Louis. We left after waiting nearly 15 minutes by door for help. A lady inside saw us, motioned they'd be open soon when we first got there which was nice but they proceeded to just keep us waiting / standing at entrance. I'd suggest they at least bring you in and seat you to look over menu even if they aren't quite ready. I cannot believe the service we (barely) received last night. Started off by waiting over 20 minutes to even flag down our waitress to put our drink order in. When she brought out the kids drinks , I sat and waited another 10 for my glass of wine. She finally brought it along with the lady next to our table's. I took a drink and about 3 minutes later the waitress came back, picked up my wine glass and said oops I switched them up and swapped my wine glass with the lady next to us. Gross. Went to CPK at lunch with my family. Have been to this location in the past and have never been thrilled with their service. However, this last visit was beyond belief! We were seated promptly. The restaurant was busy, but by now means overwhelmed. We were assisted by Arturo. Sadly, our experience went downhill from there. Every question was met with, what can be best described as an abrupt response. No attempt was made to be helpful or engaged. No check back to see how we were doing. Had to flag down another staff member to request hot sauce. When we asked questions about another pizza to go, he was impatient and rude. Made us feel like we were wasting his time. Showed up with the check and collected the payment. No interest in hearing about how our food was or how the service was (no surprises there). The poor service stood out even more when the same person interacted with the adjacent table much more politely. None of the other staff seemed to be worried about this person's demeanor. Pizzas were great. We loved the menu changes. I'm not sure why this person subjected us to this treatment. Don't know if management even cares. I understand that fast casual restaurants aren't expected to provide stellar service, but if you can't be bothered to provide a good experience, why keep a waitstaff? Just dispense with the sit down concept and switch to a self serve model. Not sure if we will be back but it's pretty clear that this place doesn't want our business. read more

Overall, a really strong meal at one of the few sit down restaurants remaining at the mall. I haven't had CPK in several years and was intrigued by the addition of a crispy Chicken Sandwich. This in addition to the sangria flight and a Ceasar salad, I felt would be a great Saturday Late Lunch meal. Sangria flight, overall very tasty. I'd say the Rose was my favorite, followed by the Red and then the White last. Funny enough, that's the exact order they served them in. Lol! I thought I could get a small Ceasar with my meal, but apparently the 1/2 size is what you get for $11. While it was a good salad, had I known I couldn't get a small side version, I would have passed because the salad was too big for me to finish with the meal. The chicken sandwich was amazing. The meat had a nice thickness, crispy but not too much breading, juicy and seasoned very well. I had to eat the whole thing, had to! This was my first visit to California Pizza, overal, l enjoyed California Pizza. The one I went to was the Creve Coeur location. This resturant hey has a semi private parking lot. No garage parking but near a lot of other casual dinning and a movie theater. When you walk in someone will seat you. California Pizza has a nice selection of adult beverages, if they don't have what you want, you can find something delicious to keep you happy and wet. I ordered the the buffalo cauliflower bites and they were delicious. I tell you if cauliflower comes like those that I had, I don't need to eat nothing else in this world. I have found my dream meal, because they were fire to me. In addition to that, I was still wanting a little bit more to eat, even though I think that that cauliflower dish feels up the average person if you include a nice drink. But you know I'm a big guy so I went ahead and ordered me a veggie, eggplant, goat cheese cauliflower crusted pizza. I really enjoyed that crunchy sweet, savory, delicious pizza and the service was pretty good. When I went I went around 3 p.m. it so on a Friday late afternoon and it was slow. I don't know how much business they do but I wasn't complaining. I did get a chance to peak into the restroom and the restrooms are clean. I have no complaint about them but do note there is only one stall, so if they get busy and people visit the restroom it's going to get a line going fast. One stall and one urinal for the men, couldn't check out the ladies, that would have meant jail time. I only saw that they have one TV not really a TV type place, it's more to come in sit down with some friends family or like I did and another lady did eat your meal alone and enjoy the peace from a hard days work. Nothing wrong in going there by yourself and enjoying a nice meal. As far as the price goes, I'm thinking they were little bit pricey. The Pizza I ordered with the cauliflower crust and the goat cheese was a little over $20.00 so that's a lot for which really is basically a thin crust style pizza with no meat. I would have expected a little bit more value. After you get seated at your table the waiter(s) will bring you a small piece of French baguette with some olive oil and seasoning dip for the bread. I definitely recommend going by there and checking it out they have more than just pizza and appetizers. I will go back again for those fish tacos I had my eye on. Which is why I chose to come here for valentine's day with my family. they had a 2 for $35 V-day "special" going on, so we took advantage of that and ordered a bbq chicken pizza, spinach artichoke dip and tequila limp chicken pasta. The spinach artichoke dip was burnt as hell. And so were the chips. Sent that back and ordered a flatbread option instead, hold the gorgonzola. My bbq chicken pizza finally comes out and looked like a 5 year old made it. the bbq was literally only on one side of my pizza. It wasn't even warm!!!!!!!!!!!!! i waited so long for it to come out, I just shut up and ate it. I have been doing that a lot lately (grinning and bearing it), which is totally not like me, i think it's this pregnancy. but I can tell you now, it's about to EFFIN STOP. My husband's noodles in his pasta were still hard, not al dente, and the lime flavor was VERY overbearing. he was not a fan. Every time we have been here we've had a bad experience but we come back to see if it's gotten any better. Unfortunately, it hasn't. The first time we were forgotten about for about and hour and a half and we didn't even get drinks in that time. This time, the kitchen was extremely backed up and we didn't receive our food very fast. We got the spinach and artichoke dip and the chips we STALE. Couldn't even really chew them they were so bendy. They have definitely cut down a lot. I got the mushroom pizza with truffle oil. Paid an extra 1.75 ish for the truffle oil and i received just enough to cover half the pizza. The pizza barely had any mushrooms on it and the green onions that were on it, were wilted and a bad shade of green. I am not blaming my waitress at all. She was very apologetic and very nice. This used to be our favorite restaurant. We've been there several times in the past several months and we've had varying experiences from great to just okay. Last night, my husband brought me to CPK for my birthday, at my request. The server was rude and the meal ended with a long, fully intact, red hair interwoven through the bottom of his salad. When we addressed it with the manger she said she would talk to the kitchen staff about hygiene practices and she took 20% off my husband's salad. Once she walked away we looked into the kitchen, which is clearly visible from the dining room, and there was an employee with long red hair walking around with her hair down and she wasn't wearing a hairnet. How does something like that go unnoticed by the manager? Concerning our sever, she rolled her eyes at us when we asked for bread before our meal. Um, why? Is there a bread shortage at CPK? If so, why not just tell us that instead of passive aggressively communicating a disdain for bread orderers? Also, she never came back to pick up any plates and we had to flag someone else over for drink refills. Needless to say, we won't be going back to that location, which is too bad. They used to be a great location.
