Going (way back) to my late teenage years, I was a Hot Dog / Hamburger addict. Los Angeles was my hometown and I had a ton of places to (as we said back then) "Do My Thing"! I had: Bob's Big Boy, Orange Julius, Scott's, The Apple Pan, Cassells, Original Tommy's, Hamburger Hamlet and a ton more. Most of this list is long gone. But there are a few that still lingering. Such is one I visited yesterday for old time sake - Carney's in Studio City. This Old Train Car Restaurant threw me back 50 years; and it was a fantastic piece of nostalgia that I loved. As you enter this train, the old photographs and all kinds of memorabilia hit you like a tornado; very cool! Their menu is pretty much the same except for a few new healthier dishes; I went for the healthier. My Chinese Chicken Salad was pretty damn good. It was big, with all kinds of "Good Stuff" with a very good peanut dressing to boot. In my old days I would have jumped all over a cheeseburger or hotdog, but I was very satisfied with my salad, and just lounging in a real live train car.

Definitely some delicious hot dogs here. I went with Carney's dog, that comes with tomatoes, onions and their hearty, delicious chili. I also asked for my hot dog frank to be split and then grilled and that made it even more tasty. The frank had nice char marks and was juicy all throughout. Great dog! The ambiance here is special, as you're located inside of a former real train carriage. That gives out the vibes of excitement, like you're grabbing a quick hot dog before reaching the next town. Customer service here is attentive and professional. Good experience for a quick, quality hot dog.

All aboard for the best carney on earth!!

Realized I didn't include a pic??! Silly me - THE dog and chili fries and that slogan is absolutely the TRUTH!

Carney's is a great diner. The experience of eating in an old Railroad car is wonderful and that ambience is matched by the amazing food. Everything is cooked to order and all the employees are wonderful. I tried a Carney's Dog with Chili Cheese fries and my friend had a cheeseburger. All of them were delicious and you recieve generous toppings on everything. To the point that next time I think I'll just get regular fries cause there was enough chili on the hot dog for both it and to top the fries. Not that I'm complaining. Everything was a delight and I look forward to coming back again. They also have some great old school shirts for sale.

This place is an institution in Los Angeles. Fantastic chili cheeseburgers, chili cheese fries, shakes, and desserts for people who love a great greasy spoon. Went there today, and the people are super nice. Someone walked in and ordered a half gallon of chili? So, yah, people love this place, and rightfully so!

Love Carneys!! Been here a couple times and def will be back for more. Their burgers are fresh and I love their menu bc you can get a small or big patty. Their hotdogs are also really good!! And their fries can also be thin or thick and I love that. Staff is super quick and this place is always clean. I also love trains lol. Delicious!! Thanks!

This visit was a great trip down memory lane, it's been 25 years since I have visited Carneys in Studio City. I was surprised how much things have grown around this location. The Train car alone brought back so many great memories. Not a lot has changed, the food options are plentiful. We went for it during this trip, not sure when I will be back. We had an original Carney's hotdog with chili, onions and mustard, under the Red Eye menu we also had the Carneys hotdog with a sausage and chili, this was tied in with chili fries and Train wreck Fries, with grilled onions and thousand island dressing. I really enjoyed the chili, I love Tommy's chili but Carneys chili is just slightly better. The inside of the train car seem so small, they had many seating options inside and outdoors they have multiple seating areas. You will find the restrooms in the front train car.

Carneys is such a Valley staple. I grew up coming here and it still hits every time. The fact that it's inside a retired train car makes it extra unique, and it has both indoor and outdoor seating (I came during a rush and still managed to grab a spot). Parking is easy thanks to the lot and I usually find myself making Amazon returns at the Staples next door just to have an excuse to stop here. Food-wise, I love their vegetarian options. My go-to is the Veggie Sandwich (basically everything in a burger without the patty), but this time I tried the Garden Burger and it was also really solid. The real standout though is the Train Wreck Fries. Think In-N-Out's Animal Style fries, but in my opinion way better--loaded with cheese, grilled onions, and sauce. They're addicting and my absolute favorite thing on the menu. The inside is a little dated and the menu can feel overwhelming at first since there's a ton of choices, but honestly, the food makes up for it. Service isn't super fast, but the chefs are always friendly and the quality is consistently great. My friends who eat meat always enjoy the burgers and hot dogs. If you're in Sherman Oaks, Carneys is a must. Classic, nostalgic, and always satisfying.

Friendly quick service and my go-to lunch spot. You can't go wrong whether you choose their burgers or hot dogs. My favorites are the Chicagoan and New Yorker. I recommend eating inside the train car dining room for the full experience

What a neat, unique fast food place. I've driven by here so many times and today was the day to stop in. I had a polish sausage "New Yorker" style with sauerkraut and mustard and chili/cheese fries. I can't say I was that impressed with either of my choices. Maybe a burger would have been a better option? Not sure I'll be back but it was definitely a ln experience.

Wow have passed this place countless times maybe a thousand times! Always said I'm going but until today I did and was so worth it! The chili cheese fries so delicious! The double cheeseburger well cooked! The LA dog! The ambiance is just so cozy!

Always a good choice. On a hot Saturday with the breeze blowing, sitting outside with my New Yorker hotdog (sauerkraut, and mustard) and a chocolate shake. What could be finer? It's a bit busy because it's so popular. But well worth the wait. Recommend highly.

We grabbed two breakfast sandwiches, one with bacon and one without, and both were standout in their own way. The first thing you notice? These sandwiches come out piping hot, wrapped tight and ready to go. Crack them open and you're hit with perfectly cooked eggs and an almost ridiculous amount of gooey, melted cheese. Not skimpy, not balanced, loaded in the best possible way. The Kaiser roll deserves its own shoutout: lightly toasted with just enough crunch on the outside while staying soft and pillowy inside. It holds everything together without getting soggy, even with all that cheese. * The meat version had crispy, flavorful bacon layered just right, salty, smoky, and not overdone. * The meatless one didn't feel like a compromise at all, still rich, filling, and honestly just as indulgent thanks to the cheese and eggs. No frills, no gimmicks, just classic deli breakfast sandwiches executed really well. Bottom line: If you want a hot, cheesy, perfectly toasted breakfast sandwich that actually hits the spot, Paulie's is a win. I can't wait to go back for lunch!

I've alway ordered at the counter each visit which I'm not even sure they have waitress service with order. After ordering, a number is give where it's placed on the table. As there was a couple of us, a few dishes was had. I alway go for the mimosas deal, 3 for the price of 2. Food, the Cobb salad which I forgot to add protein to it but it was still decent. That came with their vinaigrette dressing but a side of ranch was also asked for. The Brie and turkey sandwich with a side of the macaroni salad. Sandwiches were quite tasty with the toasted bread and how everything melted together. The burger which was pretty big in size. Tasty from what I was informed and served with a side of fries. Lastly, the avocado toast with tomatoes. Simple and cheerful. Plus you need an extra side order of streak fries with ranch. Both ketchup and their avocado dip was brought out as well. Food was good, the service was great. Both with the gal at the register and the waitress bringing out the food. It's pet friendly which is also nice to have the little pup with us. Forgot, they also have a nice display case of sweets on hand. And cookies that were massive. Clearly one was had before the meal. Sweets beforehand is always a good idea. Great service, nice drink, live music and a lovely crowd. What a nice way to enjoy lunch on a Tuesday afternoon.
