I picked this restaurant randomly for lunch with a friend. It's a small restaurant but quaint. It has a small patio out front if the weather is nice. The food is actually really good. The salsa comes in these tiny condiment bowls that you can't fit a chip into. It stinks because the salsa is good! I had to break chips into tiny pieces just to get them to fit in the salsa bowl. For my meal I ordered the taco salad with shredded chicken instead of ground beef. When they brought it out I thought they gave me tuna salad. The shredded chicken was mush and really looked like tuna salad. It looked gross but tasted great! The salad was pretty huge. I actually wasn't able to finish it all. I also ordered a sangria. It was small and not very strong. Overall a decent place to grab a bit to eat! Food is good and prices are very reasonable! read more

Pretty good Mexican food, I've been to a few places and seldom do I eat something that tastes closer to what we used to eat in Los Angeles, when it comes to Mexican food. The fajitas are great and the salsa is made fresh and the food wasn't crazy expensive which checks a lot of the boxes. Will have to come back and try more items on the menu. read more

Visiting Texas and we wanted to try Casa Mama. Everything was very good. The salsa and chips were good. We had the build your own guacamole and it was great. Very fresh tasting...just needed more salt. For dinner we had crispy tacos, taco salad, brisket quesadilla. I really enjoyed the rice and beans. We also had churros for dessert. They were excellent. Service was good as well. We went Friday around 5pm. It was not busy at all. It was a little warm in the restaurant- which is located in a strip mall. Full bar - the margarita was good as well. I ordered the pork posole. I received a bowl of salty red water with about 5 small shreds of pork and about a cup of rock hard, undercooked posole. They provided shredded cabbage, chopped onions, dried oregano, and dried pepper flakes as add-ins, but I didn't bother. This dish was so nasty tasting, nothing would have improved the flavor. I took a few bites, and left the rest. I ate the chips and salsa, which were good. I should have sent the pork posole back, but I was celebrating with my friend and didn't want to cause a scene. I will never eat there again. The cook clearly doesn't have a clue how to make pork posole. I don't intend to waste my money on something else I can't eat. I will vote with my wallet and go elsewhere. read more

This is a no for me. I paid $27 for a large guacamole and 2 "chicken tortilla soups" to go. Waiter asked if I wanted fajita chicken and I replied with "no, regular chicken is fine" and apparently wasn't heard. They have good service when you go in but I'm not happy about this at all. I have been here many times without any issues and always great tasting food and good service. With that said, I ventured to something I had not ordered off of Casa Mama's menu before, Chicken Fajitas. I ordered the Chicken Fajitas and said no onions. I was asked if I wanted veggies instead, "yes, sounds good". Wow was I wrong. Their veggies are 90% cabbage with a couple small pieces of carrots and zucchini. Cabbage served on a sizzling skillet with chicken was just gross. I'm not one to send food back, so I tried it, and yes, cabbage flavored chicken was nothing I ever want to eat again. When I told my server, she seemed totally put off that I was not happy with my food. A few minuets later she sent another server over, and he had the same crappy attitude towards me, Then it took more than 5 minuets for a manager to come over and he was supper nice and got me something edible reordered. Manager great, but the servers don't want to be bothered with problems. Maybe they should get some training, or another job not dealing with the public. I might return, but I will not order their veggie, because they are premade with cabbage with no other way to order them. We went for a Friday lunch as our daughter was in town from Atlanta. We reached there early around 11:30 and glad we did. By Noon, it started filling up and most of the tables were occupied by the time we were done. And this place is big and spacious. We were greeted by the manager and seated as soon as we arrive and the complimentary Chips and Salsa was served. The server was attentive but did not rush us. Each of us ordered Enchiladas. The lunch portion comes with two Enchiladas along with rice and beans. The portion is large enough to satisfy your hunger but not large enough to stuff you. We finished our meal by sharing one serving of Flan which was yummy! Lunch for 3 with 4 alcoholic beverage and a dessert was around $55.00 which I consider real value for money. read more

Really not sure how this gets so high a rating. We arrived for dinner and seated pretty promptly but waited a while for the chips to be brought, and a few more minutes for the waitress to take the drink order. We ordered sodas, tea, beer and margaritas. Margaritas were very good. We ordered queso. It came out very plain, just basically melted cheese. No chilis or salsa added. We finally ordered. Fajitas, enchiladas and brisket tacos. Brisket tacos and fajitas were good. The enchilada were absolutely horrible. Cheese enchilada seemed like a cheese stick rolled in a tortilla and had the same tasteless queso on it. Beef enchiladas had absolutely no seasoning or onions, nothing. Just like boiled ground beef in a tortilla. And the worst was the 'chili con carne'. Absolutely nothing but 'boiled' beef, no chili seasoning, nothing. Not the usual refried mess. OooRah! Yes they are open (Jul 2020) for indoor dining or out on the patio. Too hot now outside for us. We don't come here often unless we have errands on the east side of Plano. But I am glad we did during the virus crises. Lots of virus precautions being taken. Customers and staff must wear a mask for now. Tables separated. For now you scan the menu with camera phone which takes you to website with menu. If no phone or doesn't work they will bring a regular menu. The wait staff was very attentive to our needs. Food served fast and hot. We got left overs. Worth another visit sooner than later even if we don't have errands to run in area. read more

Food has good flavor but I will not be back. I have told a few people about how good the food is here after eating here four times in a month or two. Unfortunately, last Friday my boyfriend and I came to sit out on the patio and eat. I got the brisket tacos which is what I almost always get. Not only did we have to ask for more salsa, not 3, but 4 times (as they give the little thimble sized metal cups for dipping chips. (Chips are too big for these people!??) OK. Well luckily we each had a margarita to keep us occupied. Sadly, those ran out twice, too, and had to go inside, to find our waiter to notify them we were out of everything. Think that would help? No. They still forgot us. Ok. New girl comes (Erica) and explains they have switched ..other waiter gone). Still needed a reminder about salsa and margarita. Ok. Now its getting to the point were both not enjoying our night out bc were both irritated. Well here comes the food. Great, right? Noooo. Check out these brisket tacos!?? I admit I took one bite out of one and HSLF the thing was GONE. SOOOO. Manager Miguel comes by to check on us and other diners. I guess he only cared about or wanted to hear good news. When I asked Miguel (*yes. A "manager" if this was how much brisket normally comes on the brisket tacos (look again, friends!??) he made a crikey face and then quickly said, "Yes. That's how big our flour tortillas are". A) That has NOT A THING to do with how much meat you put on your two skimpy tacos (for $14.00 btw!) B) Why would you not admit this is not "right" and fix it. My family has been coming here for years, the food and service are amazing. I love the frozen margaritas, strong and are delicious!

Tried this place for the first time this evening. Overall I gave it a 4 out of 5 for the following reasons. Pros: Everyone was super friendly and the owner even came to check up on us. Our server was quick and got our order right. My wife and I can be difficult due to our dislike of onions. The fajitas were so tender that all I needed was my fork. We didn't sit in the patio but it looked pretty neat. Maybe next time. Cons: Parking availability isn't that great. It's in a strip mall so you have to look around if you got at the busy times. The beans weren't that great which was disappointing. I rarely like the rice over the beans and this place definitely had better rice and beans. Lastly, we didn't go during happy hour and the beer prices were a little steep. 4 out of 5 is good for a Tex mex place. I definitely encourage you to give it a try. read more

Said the sauce was almost like a mole. They only have refried beans...which still had whole beans in it. But he was happy with the whole plate. Friend had chicken enchiladas...and the chicken inside was strange. Not shredded, but almost like a pâté consistency. The flavor wasn't bad, just a different texture. Friend had the chicken relleno. Which was sliced/stuffed chicken. He enjoyed it, but expected some sort of pepper to be present. It's pretty cheap. We all had lunch for $44 plus tip. Service was spotty, but it was Friday at 12:30 and they were fairly busy. read more

This is a comfortable/casual Mexican food restaurant that offers dine in, to go and catering. There is a full service bar with a friendly bartender as you first walk in. You can sit at tables or booths and large parties are welcomed. The food is amazing but the staff is incredible. We are always welcomed like long time friends. Most of the customers seem to be regulars so they must feel the same way. My favorite entree is the brisket enchiladas. read more

This is my favorite Mexican food restaurant of all time. The service here is fantastic. My family and I always ask for Javier because he always takes such good care of us!! The atmosphere is great, very family oriented. I highly recommend the poblano cream sauce (it tastes great with the chips!!!) also, their chicken fajitas are SO GOOD! Each year I find myself in Plano for 3 days, and I have to dine out for my evening meal. While I have my "go-to's," I am always open to trying something new. Casa Mama had mixed reviews, but the food looked good. The day I arrived it was rainy, and had just gotten cold. I looked down at my clock in my car as I parked. 5:36. Finding a spot was horrible, as it shares a shopping center with other restaurants and businesses like Kroger. There was no way, even though I was parked next to building by the ballet studio, to remain covered. I entered soaking wet, requesting a table for 1. Thankfully, the AC wasn't on full blast. The wait staff was primarily male, and were experienced servers. They were pulling together, asking questions of one another. It wasn't crazy busy, and the food arrived quickly. The drink I had, the Chipotle Margarita, was very strong and quite good. Not for chugging. I don't know that I would have ordered another even if I had wanted it. One was just right. The enchiladas were some of the best I have had. The queso and poblano cream sauce was smoky and so so tasty. The chips and salsa were quite good too. Best neighborhood Mexican place anyone could ask for! The staff is wonderful and they're always speedy and accurate when I've eaten here. I love everything I've tried but nachos are probably what I order the most. The queso with beef and the salsa are THE BEST. I think you can judge a Mexican place by the chips and salsa and this one tops that list. Salsa is the perfect consistency - not chuncky - and spice level. Always a winner and a go-to spot.
