Cute Gem! It's on a main st so keep an eye out, we were there mid Sunday and it was not busy at all. No reservation and sat at the bar walked right in. Ordered chips and salsa with a modelo and in season watermelon margarita which was firreeee! Lol too many of those and you'll be happy all week. For food we did the Red Snapper tacos soooo good. Also tried the mole which was very good and also different. Not your typical mole, we also tried the ceviche crudo which was delish! Ambiance was quiet this afternoon the music they had in the background was good. Can't wait to see this place on a goodnight. There's plenty of parking but the place is big so I would think that parking would be limited on a good night.

I love this find! It's one of those spots like if you know you know. The service is great, and each area has a different vibe. There's a tiny front area that feels like someone's living room which I love, and the back patio is very cozy too. They also have larger tables for big groups and a bar area. The food is mexican fusion, really fresh with flavors in perfect harmony. Last time we tried the lobster tacos, and I immediately ordered another. The burrata pear salad was fresh and refreshing, and the butternut squash enchiladas were so yummy and comforting. I can't wait to try more dishes! Oh, and their tacos and guac and chips are really good too, you can't go wrong with anything here!

This is a cute little place for Mexican food! Parking is easy to find on the street and there's also valet parking right next to the restaurant. Inside is pretty cute and a great date night or catching up with friends atmosphere. I went for the latter but saw plenty of people from all walks of life and occasions and it was very sweet to see! Our server was super kind. From start to finish, staff was lovely. Food was also good. Got the carnitas entree and thought the carnitas and the little side were tasty. I do think the portions are a tad small for the price but what can ya do? I think that's just typical of our county at this point. lol! Anyways, I mostly appreciated that this was a cute place to catch up with friends and not feel rushed.

Food was excellent, although smaller portions and all the items are à la carte . Service was ok and the ambiance was beautiful, but tends to get loud and hard to have a conversation with the person across from me.

Hidden off of Riverside, if you drive too fast you'll miss it! I came on a Tuesday afternoon just in time to catch happy hour (until 6pm)! Skipped the drinks since I don't drink but the drink menu looks great! Started with the classic guacamole which was a hit ($10 happy hour), and the shiitake and kale flautas (also in the happy hour menu) which were already cut into smaller pieces. Then we continued with the lobster and red snapper tacos. I would recommend the red snapper tacos! Delicious! Would I recommend the lobster? Not sure. It was tasty and unique tasting - on the sweet side. But they are small tacos! 3-4 bites and it's finished. As far as the price goes, $17 for 2 small lobster tacos?! Not sure I would get it again but it was great to try at least once. The service was great! Ambiance is like stepping into someone's home and being served from their kitchen. We got seated at the front right as you enter but I thought it would be too much foot traffic and I wanted a more private space so I walked through the home and found that towards the back there is a nice room with portrait art next to the bar. The host was kind enough to change my table. Everything was great! Except for the price of the small lobster tacos and the quantity. I would recommend the red snapper tacos and the guacamole! I would recommend for special occasions like a date or celebration. Valet parking available and street metered parking right outside.

Thirsty Thursday cheers!

First off: sorry for the blurry pictures. I didn't realize until after I took them and posted that I had a smudge on my lens. First time here. I'm a big happy hour or if you want to call me; budget minded guy, that's me. I was talking to a friend who's business is a couple of doors down. He told me that Cascabel is over priced and the food wasn't worth what they charge. That's exactly why I thought I try them out during happy hour! I was expecting average but was pleasantly surprised to get delicious. Everything had so much flavor! The margs were good but a little too acidic for my taste. Ok, i had two just to be sure. ;) The prices on the regular menu are definitely on the higher end but at the same time, the individuals living in this neighborhood can probably handle it. Not your typical Mexican restaurant for sure so don't expect refried beans. A definite spin on being unique.

Well now... Where…read morecan a chef who has worked in the industry for 20+ years go and not complain about ANYTHING... Not many places. We tend to pick out every little detail, everything out of place, every miscalculation and any mistake. I couldn't find one tonight. From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted with smiles and warm energy. An energetic room (at 5:45pm) and a stage set. I've heard great things, I've anticipated this for months. Going into anything with high hopes is always a risk. But I felt at ease within moments. First cocktail at the bar... quick service, tasty drink, what else do you need? Sat... Somm, server and commis de rang all touched the table within a couple of minutes. I tend to spend too much time looking at menus and this wine list set me up for an adventure. Page after page of stellar picks at prices you won't find at restaurants of this caliber. Value after value! We settled on a fun Italian white, Chardonnay with Nebbiolo... yes a white with Nebbiolo. Oh how it worked with the food.. Oysters and Sashimi... Crudo... Apple Salad... Each delivering multidimensional flavors and textures. Peru meets Japan meets Cali farm to table. The pace and timing of each course perfectly delivered. As we moved into our... Croquettes... I was genuinely speechless. How did these taste like the enchiladas I grew up with? Chicken confit, burnt tomatoes, grana padano salsa pepian... It worked with the wine in my glass. I could have spent the entire evening dabbling with the raw menu and starters but it was time for something more... Risotto... is never to be missed. You should always judge a restaurant serving Italian food based on a few things.... A pepperoni pizza. Their "fresh bread" The level of cook on their pasta And.... How they cook their risotto. This made the table go silent. You really just need to try it.. Dinner wrapped up with an Olive Oil Cake and a glass of Takaji and this may have been the perfect pairing to end the night... fresh, uplifting and harmonious in every way. This was long and poetic but the bottom line is that this place is worth visiting regularly. There were a dozen things on the menu that we missed that looked good. It takes place mostly in their rear patio area and parking lot, but a good number of vendors were also in an adjacent air conditioned event room. They have a very small parking lot, but it was occupied by vendors during this event. Do not park in the parking lots of the adjacent businesses, as we were warned when entering the Tonga Hut that cars get towed regularly. There's plenty of street parking in the nearby neighborhood. Entering from the rear, there is a good sized covered patio with around eight benches. We went inside to check it out and grab a drink. The interior is fairly small with four good sized booths, a lounge area with a large J-shaped couch with several small tables, and around ten seats at the bar. It is dimly lit with some basic tiki décor, and has an old-school feel. They had a fixed cocktail menu for this event which is understandable. We stood in line at the bar for about ten minutes, got our drinks and went out to the patio. The bartender was friendly, and didn't seem flustered by the high volume of patrons. I had the Horned Beast O' The Celtic Sea (Oceanus Hibernicus Irish Malt, Jamacian Rum, House Made Falernum & Orgeat, Peach, Citrus, Dash of Cherry Heering, $13). She had the Leprechaun Grog (Three Rums, Lime, Grapefruit, Honey, Spice, Soda, $14). Both drinks were good, were served in souvenir plastic cups, and were a bargain at $13 to $14. If you ordered a drink containing Oceanus whiskey, the bartender gave you a gold coin and you could exchange it with the Oceanus representative on the patio for a free T-shirt. Durango Tacos was setup near the rear entrance for food. We had four tacos (two carne asada and two veggie), and they were good and reasonably priced. This was the first tiki marketplace we have attended. There were around twenty vendors with a good assortment of art work, tiki mugs, tiki clothing, tiki décor, and other miscellaneous items. I purchased a few nice tiki shirts which were a steal at $20 and $25. The vendors and visitors were all very friendly and in a festive mood. We hung out for about ninety minutes and had a good time. We will return at some point to try their regular cocktail menu and see what it's like on a non-event night.
