    Supreme Pizza...

Ok... it's only pizza. But c'mon this is a sad example... I have never left a review before but we eat pizza only when we are too hungry to wait. Chalupa's is supposed to be open till nine. We got there shortly after eight. The chairs were already up on the tables & they said they closed the front early... We had planned on eating in the restaurant rather than taking the pizza back to the hotel. We ordered the SUPREME-- supposed to be loaded with pepperoni sausage mushrooms onions black olives and extra cheese. There was maybe one whole mushroom thinly sliced and sprinkled over it. There were 5 thin slices of pepperoni--not even one little piece of pepperoni per slice & we had to put on our glasses to find the tiny pieces of sausage. Maybe 1/16 of a bell pepper & maybe 6 thin slices of black olives. It was dry... hardly any sauce on it ... and little cheese. We wonder if we got the wrong order but upon inspection all the ingredients listed were on it. Ugh Had the chairs still been on the floor and we were there to eat that pizza we would have returned it and gotten our money back . Chalupo's is not such a good spot for pizza. Go somewhere else. We went to Chalupos because Pizanos is closed til next week.

X-large pepperoni pizza was good if a little too salty. Delivery was only a little late. What else could one hope for?

Always the best in Taos to us and I was actually really impressed with the Alfredo too.

After a week of fabulous New Mexican food we were ready for a burger! The food and service here…read morewere outstanding. I had their Ultimate Patty Melt and my wife ordered their specialty burger of the month that was served with blueberry chutney; both were excellent. For fun we ordered the fried pepper strips as one of our sides and they were unique and very tasty.

It's a very small but cute restaurant with a tv around the bar so if you want to watch football or…read moreany sporting event you can definitely see it here. The service was good but I feel like they can be more informative, especially to someone new in town. If you're not aware, the burgers do not come with fries. You must order them separately. One thing the server did not mention. All she asked was, fries or onion rings? Now, I do understand we could read the menu, which we did, but most hamburger joints come with a side of fries especially at these prices!!! You're paying between $13-18 a burger, it should come with a side of fries! Now what she also failed to tell us was the amount of French fries that come when you order them. It's a large basket that could be shared between 2-3 people. We ordered three fries plus 1 onion ring. We paid $16.50 for three fries and barely ate through one whole basket! The fries seemed fresh cut but seemed like they had this weird film on the outside. Not sure if it's their oil, or if they didn't fry it at a high enough temperature. What we ordered: - bison burger (medium) : it came out burnt to a crisp. The initial bite wasn't bad but eating it more felt like you had a mouth full of ash. While I can appreciate a good charbroiled or grilled hamburger, it was overly done. Not to mention it was over cooked. There was no seasoning on top of the burnt flavor. It wasn't really edible. - old timer w/cheese (medium): add an additional charge for cheese! This too came out burnt! My daughter could only eat a little as it was too charbroiled/grilled. It too was over cooked and no where near medium. - green chili burger (medium): I had high hopes of this burger as it came with cheese and their infamous New Mexico Green chili! While my patty was not burnt, it was over cooked and it had zero to no seasoning! It came with a green chili mayo which was really good but it still didn't help with the seasoning! The burgers here seem fresh and the beef seems a good quality, but I still believe it's overpriced for what you get! I also understand times are hard and our economy is struggling with prices, but then they need to find other ways to cut prices down without sacrificing quality.

As we walked up to the door, there was a sign posted about them being short staffed and possibly not able to serve everyone without a reservation, but we decided to ask. I'm glad we did. (And I hope others go ahead and ask as well). We were able to get a table for two and this place was full of character. They lit the old school candle on the table, played old time mix of music, had table cloths on each table. It was very sweet and lovely. We had an official server come to our table right away and drop off menus. Then we had (I think), the owner of the restaurant stop by to talk to us for a little bit. Later I believe we had Stella herself deliver food and talk to us. We ordered light meals because we had a late lunch. I ordered a salad with chicken on it and it was delicious. They tried to present it well and succeeded. It was fresh and tasty, too. Hubs ordered lasagna, which came with a side of garlic bread. Although he thought his lasagna was a little thin in layers, the taste of the sauce was very, very good. We did not order dessert, but we thought all of them looked really delicious. If you find yourself in Taos New Mexico, with nowhere to eat, I would definitely give this sort of lonely looking corner restaurant a try.
