The wait to be seated on a weekend night was about 40 minutes. Found this place on yelp and saw good reviews so I though it'd give it a try. The price was not bad for being an AYCE korean bbq place. The meat was okay. I wish they had more of selection and a better dipping sauce for the unmarinated meat. The quality was so-so. Came here tonight (Friday) with a party of 6 and luckily got a table within 15 mins. We all like brisket, bulgogi and pork belly. Their brisket had the right amount of fat. You know, fat is flavor after all. The diamond-cut pork belly had so much flavor. All the meats were excellent for that matter. We all got either spicy tofu soup or the egg pot. Both were very flavorful also. The sides and salad were good matches with the loads of meat we shared. The cucumbers were a tad but spicier than other KBBQ places. I really enjoy places that offer the fish cake as one of their banchan and Cham does. The service here was outstanding. Every time we rang the bell, someone came to our table in less than a minute. We had a couple bottles of soju and at the end of our meal, I offered a couple waiters a shot of it. I was quite surprised an automatic tip was not added to our bill. Some places add that in with just 3 patrons. To me, any place that offers free ice cream deserve an extra star. I'm not sure if it was cause I was so full of beef or the ice cream just tasted that good. Either way, you can't beat having green tea, strawberry or cookies & cream ice cream after a meaty meal. This is our go-to KBBQ for after work. Yesterday, I had planned for a dinner here with my co-workers because it was my last day in the department, I'll be moving back to my old department because I was on loan. Parking is so easy when the restaurant opens. But if you wait later, parking can be such a bit*!! So either you arrive early to easily find parking or anticipate parking farther and waiting 30-60 minutes for a table. Anyways, 5 of the party of 10 arrived at 5pm when they opened. There was still a bit of a wait, but not sure why. There were roughly about 5 tables seated and 2 large parties (including ours). Maybe there's not enough servers to handle the large parties? We waited probably another 5 minutes and our table was ready The prices went up since the last time I was here, just a dollar. The menu is pretty intense. Too much to try in one sitting. So a pretty good variety. We went for the beef brisket, beef belly, diamond cut pork belly, bulgogi, marinated duck, rib fingers, shrimp, and one more that slips not mind at this moment. All great cuts and quality meat. I'm a little picky on the sides, and they change up regularly here. I usually like the glass noodles, but this time around it tasted like another recipe. Don't change what tastes good! Lol We usually stick to water. But the occasional Hite beer and yogurt soju hits our table. For sure the yogurt soju. We've tried the strawberry kiwi too, which is a good runner up to the yogurt version. Now, the ice cream! Although it's self serve, I love the flavor a they purchase. Such great variety. Our favorite AYCE Korean BBQ spot. The meat is good, the banchan is plentiful, and there's ice cream! A follow-up to their Garden Grove location, this place tries to emulate the same formula and just runs with it. The menu has changed over time to compete with the Gen group of Korean BBQs, which I thought was unnecessary, but the food is still good. The staff is always super helpful and nice. They drop by to check if you need anything often, and refill water without requests. They are always more than happy to run more food to your table. Feel free to change the grill as many times as you find necessary. We usually change it only once during a meal. We enjoy the brisket, bulgogi, and chicken. The spicy pork is good as is the diamond cut pork belly. The japchae and the potato salad are good, but I love all the other kimchi items. Make sure to request the sesame oil dipping sauce...I think it works better than all the other options on the table. Napa kimchi is only brought to your table by request. I have to ask every time. My idea of a perfect bite is some meat dipped in the sesame oil mix, some salad, some bean sprouts, a slice of Napa kimchi, all wrapped in the pickled daikon. Low carb and delicious. The best part of your meal comes when you get tired of eating meat and need some ice cream to clear out your palate. They have a selection of Thirfty ice creams and cake cones. You scoop your own ice cream. They usually have 4 flavors at a time and there's always a good selection. Was pleasantly surprised by the quick customer service and the wide variety of meat. For a Saturday night dinner, 18.99 was not a bad price for ayce. The workers are young and the ice cream was presented a little fancier than most so it gave it a trendy vibe. For 4 people and 4 bottles of Cass and hite. Total was 108 and that's not bad at all. The sides were good, the meat itself was not astonishing but you're paying a little less than you should cause the quality was pretty good for what it is. The spicy beef belly is highly reccomended. The garlic pork belly was a little disappointing. There's a mini ice cream bar of four with cones and scoopers. Flavors: chocolate with swirl, coffee, strawberry cheesecake, and my favorite was the padan pistachio. Once you know the flavors, they're pretty easy to distinguish. This place is great because I AM A CARNIVORE. NOM NOM NOM. Here, there is a great selection of meats to choose from. Service is great, even when it is busy. After you've been grilling for a while, they will ask if you need a grill change, or you can ask for a grill change yourself. If you ever need anything else (more rice paper, more lettuce, more water, etc.), there is a button on the table you can press, and a waiter/waitress will come over. Pretty nifty if you ask me, because you don't have to flag down someone to come over. I always go with option A because I don't eat much besides the brisket and bulgogi. I always get the egg pot because that's what I just prefer. There is also all you can eat ice cream for dessert! My favorite is the green tea ice cream, although they didn't have it the last time I was here. The cones can sometimes taste a bit stale, but eh, it's ice cream!! This is the best KBBQ place I've been to. It's not overpriced. $16.99 for option A which is more than enough for me and the service is great. All the other KBBQ places I've been to are either $10 and has great service but the meat is bland or it's the worst service ever and the meat is god. I'll gladly pay an extra $7 to get great meat, service, and ice cream!! You get a soup with your meal and my favorite is the spicy tuna. Egg pot is okay as well, but I prefer the tuna for sure. Then come the meats! You can order as much as you want and they come on a plate that you cook yourself (if you're unfamiliar with KBBQ). They bring out a lot of really good sides and you can get refills on them as well. Our server this previous time, Hey-you, was really attentive and was always filling our drinks, sides, rice paper, etc. even though they were understaffed. Great service. (I'm not sure how to spell our server's name. She said it's hey you.) My favorite meats are brisket, spicy pork, and marinated beef. So good! The sauces they give you to dip the meats in are really good too. I'll say the chicken is sort of bland. I've never been a fan of chicken at KBBQ, though. And the shrimp comes out whole and raw with the legs and head and everything, so just be aware of that. I don't like shrimp, but my mom and cousin ordered it and they didn't really know what to do with it since they've never cooked, taken apart, and eaten whole shrimp. And one of the best parts about this place is the ice cream. All the flavors they have are great every time I come. The ice cream is also all you can eat! Think this is a branch of the GG location. Not the Roland Heights one however. Came here on Mothers Day and was not busy at all. Maybe because it just opened. Also for those who are familiar with the area, it use to be hwarosang, dah-sohm, and now CSG. Usually don't waste time with anything but brisket, but was here with the fam so we placed an order for a little bit of everything. Pork belly, bulgogi, brisket, the whole shebang! Meat quality was pretty similar to the GG location. Couldnt really complain. Brisket couldve been sliced a little thinner but oh well. Not sure if they slice their own meats here because it was given to us frozen, unlike CSG in roland heights. It did come with a lot of the typical sides and we were able to get rice paper and sliced radishes as well. Total plus imo. Service was good. Having been to a couple other Cham Soot Gol locations, I would have to say the most noticeable difference at this location is the service. They're really great here about taking care of you. Side dishes and water are refilled consistently and meat orders are taken very often. Also, they don't skimp on the meat and bring it until you are completely satisfied. For the all you can eat, some of the highlights were the spicy pork, brisket, and the chicken. And the best part of all: the ice cream (the choices at our visit were butter pecan, rocky road, cookies n cream, and green tea). I know the ice cream shouldn't be a selling point, but it's perpetually the perfect ending to a meat filled dinner. So it's won me over at Cham Soot Gols. One complaint I have of this location was that the bulgogi we received seemed to be old or spoiled, and was distinctly evident in the aftertaste. Once we informed the waiters, we saw them take the cooked meat back and a bunch of them tasted it back there from what we saw. It looked like they all agreed with our opinion by the look on their faces. Our waiter brought us a freshly made batch of bulgogi and apologized for it. So just a heads up: check the bulgogi! Started munchin on all our sides, the glass noodles, cucumber chilli paste, and the mushrooms are always the best. The salad that they offer is one of the best salads I've had. Amazing taste. We ordered two! Started with the brisket, amazing heaven food! Probably the best flavor meat we had. Ate that evenly. We let the pork belly marinate in the chili bowl they gave us. Only chose to eat here because they were the only KBBQ place open after we were done at Disneyland. Place is kinda dirty from broken glass dividers to the oily greasy floors and the messy freezer for the ice cream. Service wasn't terrible but it wasn't the best, server never checked up on us so we always had to flag him down from halfway across the room but once they knew they were quick. Nothing negative to say about the food because overall it was a good experience, we even tried the duck. Definitely one of my favorite KBBQ spots! In college at UCI, we used to hit up the original Cham Soot Gol in Garden Grove. Now years later, I'm a Disneyland AP member but I live in LA. On days where we don't feel like eating at the park, we love to stop by Cham to stuff our faces with never ending meat. The menu is vast with different kinds of meat. I love all the banchan that they put out as well, the potato salad is the best. The steamed egg is really delicous and on the AYCE menu. On top of it all, you get free AYCE Ice Cream as well! There are usually 4 flavors. My only complaint is that the floors are super sticky due to all the meat juices. Parking is super easy, they have their own private lot.
