Great salad to add to my list of Char reviews! Light yet filling. Service was meh this go around though which isn't typical.

I stopped at Char for Sunday brunch before doing some shopping. It was lively at the bar, but I found a seat. The server suggested the crab cake benedict, so I ordered it. I'd been to Char many times before, and the food was good, but it was only OK. The potatoes were not crispy, which is strange for breakfast potatoes. There's jazz at the bar to enjoy. I find free parking in the area & walk over, but they validate in the garage below them. Like: crab cake benedict (nice amount of crab); service (fine) Dislike: breakfast potatoes (soggy & mushy)

Char is a fan favorite with my friends and family! They have a great menu with options for everyone no matter what you have a taste for. This particular day, we were celebrating a new job and our server James ensured we had the best experience. He was helpful in navigating the menu and even had the bartender prepare a season cocktail I remembered from last summer! The Beefeater is my favorite thing and I HIGHLY recommend! We also enjoyed the roasted chicken as an entree and crab claws as an app. Well done Char!

I have had nothing but wonderful experiences at Char previous to this. But last night was hands down the worst customer experience I have ever experienced in my 40 years. Because I have been such a regular, I'd accumulated $180 worth of points. When I arrived I let my server know in advance I'd be using my loyalty points. He was awesome at that point and said no problem. As there to treat my friend for her birthday dinner, she arrives, we order. I got the filet, a Caesar salad, and fried green tomatoes for the table. She ordered the prime rib and a wedge salad. My filet was cooked to perfection! Her prime rib was not cooked to order, so she asked for a new one. Turns out that was the last one so she ended up with a ribeye instead. Once received cooked to perfection. We enjoyed our evening, talking and laughing. Everything went severely downhill when we got to pay. I once again thanked Deke for everything and handed him my loyalty card. We owed $30 on top of what my points covered. Barbara was going to pay that and she gave her phone number for her loyalty points for that portion. He takes everything and comes back and says because he used her loyalty number to earn points we could not use my points to redeem the dinner. Absolutely not. I once again explained to him I told him in advance that was how we were paying, and her number was for the rest. He could not have been ruder if he tried. After much back and forth, he comes back to the table, does not look at us, and THREW THE CHECK BACK. It went flying across the table. When I say threw, I mean threw. Deke should sign up for his community baseball team, great pitcher candidate. 10/10 worst service of my life. Will I be back? Yes because the food is great! But if I see that man walking toward my table I will immediately stand up and ask for a new table. Incredibly disrespectful and I will not tolerate that again. I had loyalty points because I am there so often. You shouldn't treat anyone in the fashion he demonstrated, let alone one of your most loyal customers.

Char is one of my favorite spots in Nashville. The atmosphere always feels warm and inviting, and the service is consistently attentive without being overbearing. The crab claws are an absolute must every time.

Verdict: solid food, good drinks, classy + airy atmosphere, wonderful service. They've also been consistent every time I've been. My wife and I have been here before and decided to stop by again for a quick brunch around 11-12 on a Saturday. Make sure to scan the QR code once you get inside for your parking validation! We were seated immediately and our server quickly stopped by to fill our waters and grab our drink orders. We started off with $6 Bloody Mary's, which were great. We also ordered the new cornbread with strawberry jam. My wife thought it was delicious, which is saying something because she grades cornbread very harshly. Sweet but not too sweet, with savory butter and a strawberry jam that pulled it all together. We ended it with a steak salad and steak and frites. The steak was perfectly medium and medium rare (respectively). Everything in the salad meshed well together and the truffle fries were delicious but could have been a little more crispy/thin.

The food is superb. We were there at 2:00pm on a Saturday and it was relaxing and jazzy. We started with the crab cakes and I was so pleasantly surprised. Being a coastal girl I had no expectations but every bite was all crab and delicious. The cocktails are terrific. I had the blood orange spritzer....a perfect mid-day treat. So good I chose a cocktail for dessert. The steak frites with truffle fries was cooked perfectly. What a great mid-day treat. Service started slow but it is the jazzy vibe...once we ordered the service was fantastic.

Please read the reviews about the service here! The space itself is lovely, and there was even a piano player, which set a great atmosphere. My friend made a reservation, but we were running behind and then with traffic we realized we might miss the grace period. She called ahead, and the hostess kindly assured us that they would hold our table. We were even okay to try and find something else in green hills (it was on us). So when we arrived the hostess greeted us and started to take us to our table but an auburn haired manager decided she needed to scold us for being late. Instead of welcoming us, she chose to lecture us about how being late was "unacceptable behavior." It wasn't a quick reminder; it was a condescending rant meant to put us in our place. The tone she used with my friend, an African American woman, was especially disturbing. There's a long, painful history of Black people being spoken down to in this exact way. Like being scolded or diminished, no matter their age, status, or setting. That's what this interaction felt like. We even asked if the table had been given away, could we get on the waitlist while we looked for another spot. The hostess reassured us it was saved. Sure enough, when we sat down, there were four open tables in plain view. It was clear this wasn't about logistics. It was about control and disrespect. Ryan our server was lovely but the steak needed a little more seasoning but a great "char". The mashed potatoes were bland and dry. Though our sautéed crab claws were great. Bottom line: the restaurant looks good, but the leadership's rude, unprofessional behavior is embarrassing. Save yourself the frustration. Until management changes, spend your money somewhere that actually values its guests.

Family brunch in an excellent, fine dining, with good appetizers; the PEI Mussels continue to be some of the best we've had, and the crab claws were tiny, but you get a lot of them and have excellent flavor! The salmon is done to order, and has a distinct spice to it. For dessert the Chocolate Brownie is warm and delicious. The large, full bar and extensive wine list, complement the dimly lit steakhouse atmosphere. Service was excellent, and they took care of children's orders first.

We started off with a round of champagne and a bottle of red wine for dinner. We tried a variety of dishes since we were told that the set up is family style: Hamachi Crudo: 10/10 one of the best I've ever had! Super fresh and the sauce paired well with it. Bluefin Tune Crudo: 8/10 It was really fresh and well prepared, but I've had better elsewhere. I typically prefer bluefin tuna sashimi or nigiri anyway. Tuna Crispy Rice: 9/10 This was such a fun and delicious way to eat spicy tuna! All of the seasonings made it packed full of flavor. Tomahawk Ribeye 9/10: This was insanely tender, and well seasoned. Tip: ask for lemon wedges to sprinkle some lemon juice on it--thank me later. Broccolini 8/10: well prepared, and I loved the lemongrass garlic chili that topped it East Side Shrimp 7/10: These were well cooked and well seasoned. Loved the salad placed underneath it. Wagyu Tartare 8/10: It was well prepared and loved that it's paired with nori and rice. Wished it had a bit more punch to it in terms of seasoning. Crab Fried Rice 8/10: this was delicious but still say it's a solid 8. Beautifully prepared! Korean Hot Wings 2.5/10: I could tell that it was well cooked, but it was insanely salty; it was practically inedible. Hurricane Fries 9/10: These were so delicious! You are immediately hit with the smell of truffle, which made my mouth water. Packed with flavor! Brussels 7/10: These were well roasted, but the sauce was a tad too sweet for my liking. I highly recommend trying this place out!

By the bar we got to see some of the dishes being made. Great date night spot. Limited parking. This is a tapas spot and our serve did a good job recommending how many dishes to get. The only reason Noko is not getting 5 stars is because the server said that they would time out the dishes for us, so it was best to place our entire order all at once. However, we got 3 dishes and then it took about 30 minutes for other two to come out. Maybe we were eating too fast but felt like we were waiting a while for our food. The food itself was absolutely delicious. There was nothing we ordered that I did not like. Some favorites include the burnt ends lettuce wraps and Korean chicken wings. The Sando, shrimp and tuna crispy rice was also spectacular. The tuna was so flavorful and refreshing on the tuna crispy rice. The sauce of the east side shrimp really makes the dish. I'm not a huge shrimp person but this was really good. This is a must go to spot in Nashville and would definitely want to come back.

Nashville became a clear exception to the rule, delivering a world class, contemporary steakhouse experience into Nashville's more traditional steak scene. Yes, the views are remarkable. Egyptian born celebrity chef Michael Mina has unquestionably become a restaurant mogul at this stage in his career and winning two Michelin stars in his flagship San Francisco restaurant. Expanding into Nashville, he did something truly extraordinary: creating a modern steakhouse concept that delivers on par to the best traditional steak joints of America, but with unique twists and in a special atmosphere. Staff are professional and attentive, with a clear level of polish that one would expect to find in a high end establishment as such. I mixed and matched the sauces but my favorite was the spicy ranch. -Tuna rolls: okay, overpowered by pepper and greens. Unexpected tempura crunch inside each bite. -Apple salad. So good and refreshing and balanced. Tart and sweet and sour with the creamy dressing. -Brussels sprouts: tasted of sweet char and citrus. In my opinion the large strands of saffron were unnecessary and I would have gladly traded them for $10 off of our astronomical bill, haha. -Scallops: Perfect sear and perfect tenderness but a little too salty -Crab bernaise: just ok. Found a shell. A little sweet and too much rich bernaise for the portion of crab, unless pairing it with a bite of steak. -Angus filet: we enjoyed this beefy tender cut, but it wasn't anything special for the price. -Wagyu Denver cut (chef's choice of the night): probably the most tender, juicy, and flavorful bite of steak I've ever tried. And I've had A5 Wagyu countless times. For the price, this could be worth reserving for the most special of occasions. Sauce trio: -Chimichurri - so good and sour in the best way, just like a pickle. -Wine Jus - really balanced and thicker than expected. A perfect sauce for steak. Better than traditional steak sauce flavor. -Peppercorn - deep flavor development and more complex than I expected. -Crème brûlée: I don't know how we managed to eat this after indulging in all the other food, but it was utter perfection. Although the views are unparalleled and the service wonderful, the prices are just not worth it in my opinion. We also arrived promptly for our reservation and were directed to a central table within minutes. Despite ordering quickly after being seated, our steaks didn't arrive until 90 minutes after our reservation time. By that time we were ravenous so maybe that's what made those steaks so good.

It's my last night in Nashville so I want to go to a bang zoom restaurant. A few of my co workers have said to me: Mr Bill, we see every night you're going out to some amazing spots. Mind if we tag along? Sure, the rules are to keep your fork outta my plate when we sit down. Deal? The restaurant is very large, we're shown to our table. Set in the middle of the dining room and facing the bar. The bar can seat at least 25 people, the restaurant is set up for fun. To get our party started, I ordered a well crafted cocktail: Tea'd Up Old Fashioned Made with Bourbon, Black Tea and House Barrel Aged Bitters. Funky?? Oh yeah I'm with a bunch of Military Veterans and they're telling me their crazy stories. I'm sippin' my Old Fashioned and taking it all in, we need to bond over drinks and crazy things we all drank overseas. As an adult, I can appreciate my Nashville TN Old Fashioned with Black Tea. While we're talking, our waitress drops off a plate of homemade biscuits. The biscuits are fire! Buttery, flakey and moist, The Southern Steak & Oyster can make a damn good biscuit. Next, my Gumbo comes to me. The first taste I can tell this is a chef'd up dish. Better than anything I had in New Orleans. This gumbo is filled with Andouille, Crawfish, Shrimp and Fried Okra. Very flavorful indeed. My last entree in Nashville will be Fish 'N Grits. Fresh fish topped with Spicy Tasso Ham over Sweet Potato Grits and Bacon Braised Cabbage. This is a flavorful dish, the grits are very creamy and the cook on the fish was spot on. We had a great night at The Southern Steak & Oyster, it was a pleasure to dine at your restaurant.

Upon his return he was focused on everything but the 5 of us in the place until we finally had to ask to get service. The other visit everyone helped me but the actual server. Maybe this is a staffing problem, I don't know but being stuck for 20 minutes to order another drink with my meal is not acceptable. Although they had that check in my hand in under a minute and in under another minute to process. Again, super nicer people, but kind of oblivious. 2) Now let's talk about the kitchen. And I'm adding some input from the other diners because we all sat there waiting. - flavors are great, but the salt and spice level is overboard. I had the mushroom appetizer and nearly choked/coughed to death. I like heat but this was raw spice that overpowered the dish. And the salt about made my feet swell into balloons. Such a shame because the idea is great just poor execution - deviled eggs. Pass - BBQ Shrimp, sort of like the mushrooms right profile but overpowering - gumbo. Two other people had the gumbo and when I asked they said that too is just over spiced I want to like this place, but probably my last visit unless I just come for oysters. Sorry

The venue is nicely, eclectically decorated too! I started with a Kettle One up with a Twist and it was great... Some of their shrimp cocktail to go with it was a great pairing! The shrimp was huge and prepared perfectly! The cocktail sauce was very nice, but I like extra horseradish, which they happily provided. Next up was their Prime Skirt Steak and the sides I chose was their creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked to a perfect temperature and the chimichurri was so very tasty with it! The mashed potatoes were nice. The creamed spinach looked beautiful and the texture was spot-on, but it had slightly too much nutmeg in it - Still, I enjoyed it. I wanted to save room for dessert though because I was yearning for their Butter Pie, which I ordered eventually. The butter pie definitely didn't disappoint! I enjoyed my experience and will continue to seek out and enjoy Jeff Ruby joints when I travel!

We also had the bacon which was delicious but had too much pepper. For dinner me and my uncle both had the Filet, we both thought it was over seasoned. My Aunt had the skirt steak, that was so over salted that she couldn't eat it, we all tried a piece, it was awful!!!! My wife had the lobster tail that was fantastic. They did take back the steak. During the dinner my wife ordered a white sangria, it came was Orange had an orange in it was not a sangria or the worst one ever. This she did drink cause we had already sent back the other two Items. Our server Aubry was great and so was his assistant Will. The manager did come over after the steak was sent back and did take off the bisque and the steak and little extra from the bill. I had a Stella the glass was cold. So if you want a good lobster with bacon and beer it's a good restaurant. But don't spend your money on anything else..

Add live jazz drifting through it and you have a night out that feels nothing like the usual Nashville scene. The service was the highlight. Our server Ian took great care of us from start to finish, warm, attentive, and knowledgeable without ever making us feel rushed. The whole team was dialed in, but Ian made us feel like regulars on our very first visit. The food more than kept up. My pork chop was enormous and cooked beautifully, and my wife's empanadas and salad were just as good. The cocktails were fine, not quite the star of the show, but with food and atmosphere this good I did not mind one bit.

How do you search for:…read more A funky good time where I can listen to Jazz, drink a few libations and have a good steak? Skull's Rainbow Room checks all the boxes. Nashville is a music town, throw a rock and you'll find a great spot at a bar playing music. Some of the bars have a stage where bands are jammin'! I'm looking for something different, something more contemporary, live jazz and a speakeasy feel. Skull's Rainbow Room delivered. Walking up to Printer's Alley, it's already giving off speakeasy vibes. I did my classic move, Get to the restaurant early and tell the waitress I'm so hungry and promise I won't be here all night. Man... I was set up with a great table and was told I have less than two hours. (I mean, I am Bill S from New York, I can be quite persuasive) My waiter comes over, we start talking about the east coast, how he misses New Jersey but loves his new home in Nashville. I order a martini and thick Prime Rib cut along with a side of truffle mashed potatoes. My drink comes out quickly and now I am in the jazz zone. These guys rocked it! Great music along with strong cocktails, I laugh and say to myself: I'm getting paid to be here! My steak comes to the table very quickly. Man this steak cut is a thing of beauty. The au jus with a bite of the truffle mashed potato, heaven. Now the piano player start playing The Love Theme from The Godfather?? Am I in heaven or.. are they trying to seduce me to the other side as I order another cocktail? Just a fantastic night, from the music to the food and libations at Skull's Rainbow Room. My waiter says, it's been two hours, would you like your drink brought to the bar? I declined as I paid my check. Skull's Rainbow Room is a must stop when in Nashville. You can check out any time you want.. but you can never leave!

We've been to The Finch three times now--twice sitting at the bar and once at a table. We…read moredefinitely prefer the bar, but I think that's just because we're bar people! The bar has two hidden TVs that you can only see when you sit at the bar, which is such a cool touch. It keeps the space feeling upscale without sacrificing the ability to catch a game. The overall ambiance is great, and the music is always at the perfect volume for an easy conversation. The drinks have been consistently excellent. We've tried both cocktails and wine, and everything has been delicious. The wine is a little overpriced in our opinion, but it was so good that I'm glad we still ordered it! On our most recent visit, we started with the burrata. It was very good, but I do wish there had been more sauce and more cantaloupe. The sauce felt more like an accent than something that really tied the dish together. That said, the perfect bite was definitely the burrata with the prosciutto and cantaloupe! For our entrees, Jonathan ordered the pork chop, and I had the piri piri chicken. Both came with broccolini and patatas bravas. I was expecting traditional Spanish-style patatas bravas, so when whole baby potatoes showed up, I was initially a little disappointed. Don't let that fool you, though--these potatoes were incredible!!! Crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked on the inside, and packed with flavor! They ended up being one of my favorite parts of the meal! My piri piri chicken was fantastic! The portion was much larger than I expected, and the piri piri sauce served on the side was absolutely lick-the-plate good. I found myself dipping the potatoes and broccolini in it because it was just that delicious. Piri piri isn't something you come across often in Nashville, and The Finch absolutely nails it--and at a really reasonable price. Jonathan's pork chop was cooked perfectly with great flavor. It wasn't an over-the-top, show-stopping dish, but for around $30--including both sides--at a more upscale restaurant, it's hard to beat the value. One more recommendation: get the volcano rock shrimp. We had it on a previous visit, and we still talk about it! It's easily one of our favorite dishes we've had here. The Finch has been consistently good every time we've visited, and that's what keeps bringing us back! Great food, great drinks, a fun atmosphere, and solid value for the quality. We'll definitely be back again!

Absolutely incredible foodie spot!…read more If you can look past the pretension, the atmosphere, food, drinks, and vibe are immaculate here! We came in for the first time ever on a surprise date night my wife planned for us. Neither of us had ever been here or experienced what we were about to experience. Such a culinary treat! We went intentionally to share several small plates/tapas style and a few drinks. We were not prepared with just how good everything was! It all came out in quick fashion after we ordered. Perfectly portioned, nicely seasoned, and supremely fresh and delicious. I've attached photos of all we received to this review. If we lived closer, we'd come again and again to this place to taste more of their items. There was so much more on the menu that we want to try! Well done, Finch!
