This is my best friend's favorite Vietnamese sandwich place and I can see why. we shared their bbq pork belly sandwich, pandan & mung bean rice cake (weekend special) for drink: I got avocado smash and my friend got passion black tea with pearl. the sandwich was delicious. they are not skim with the meat. The pork belly was super tender and flavorful. the rice cake was ok. don't think I would get it again. Avocado smash. man. MUST GET!!! I wish I could give this place a zero star. I walked in and the lady didn't even acknowledge me. I waited and finally asked if they're open. She kept ignoring me. After some time, she finally nodded. I went up and asked what are some popular drinks here. She said "all good" with a rude face. I ended up getting the my usual "green tea with lychee flavor". She made my drink in a rush and left it on the counter. I grabbed it and took a sip. As soon as I started drinking, I noticed it was SUPER sugary. Not like regular sugar, the sugar was like 5x the normal amount even though I asked for medium sweetness. It was not drinkable at all. I went back to the counter and told her that it's undrinkable because it's too sweet. She said "wait for ice to melt. It will fix it" and left lol. Terrible customer service. I got a fish patty sandwich and an avocado che-lo. The sandwich isn't that good , the bread isn't fresh and the fish patty was a bit too thin and small. The che-lo was ok , a bit on the bland side. This location is very easy to miss in the shopping center as its a small shop in a corner, so lookout for that! We came here for a quick bite and figured banh mi sounded good. I've always seen this place, but never got to try it until now and I know now that I was definitely missing out! Unless the menu prices have changed, calling in or ordering on site would be cheaper than placing it online or through a 3rd party app. (More than $1.50 for the bahn mi) Apps just take a huge cut of every order, and they're just another small business. Love the fresh toasted perfect crunch and texture of the baguette, and just right portion of the fillings. Prefer this place over the other one around the corner based on baguette quality and price. Our usual banh mi place (Cam Huong) was closed, so we drove across town to try out this spot! This restaurant is located in the plaza with Tapioca Express, Daiso, and several new Chinese restaurants. We got the banh mi 8 and 9 on the menu! We waited about 10-15 mins and popped over to Tapioca Express while we waited for boba! The banh mi 8 was the smoked brisket banh mi which was reeeally smoky tasting. The brisket was buttery but didn't have much flavor beyond the smokiness. I preferred the banh mi 9 which was the pork belly banh mi. The sauce was delicious on this one! The price is what strikes me as it is over $7 for a sandwich and ours were the "premium" ones which were $10. The portion was also pretty small (thin, to be specific) for a banh mi. I came here to pick up lunch for my bf and I. I ordered two ham combo sandwiches with pate ($5.75 each) and two orders of egg rolls ($4.75 for 3 - or 1 order). The total for lunch was around $23. Not bad! The sandwiches had a good amount of ham, veggies, thinly sliced cucumbers and jalapeños, and butter. It could use a little more pate though. The sandwich bread was similar to a French baguette and was a nice crispy texture in the outside. Great sandwiches! The egg rolls had pork and shrimp and were also delicious. While I do miss the original owner and his sweet personality, the woman in front of the cash register was nice and friendly enough. For such a hot July day, I ordered the taro milk tea and asked for less ice and normal sugar. The drink, while lilac in color, was as bland as water. It barely tasted like taro and the chalky texture only made it more distasteful. I threw everything away. I think a pre-customized drink might give you a better bang for your buck, or if you asked for less toppings...The grilled pork banh mi was pretty small for the price. the meat was flavorful but i got some fatty piece that threw me off. The total of my two items came out to be ~$10, so i was able to use my card (minimum $10). The shop is small with no AC. there's about 5-6 small tables in there. This place is a hidden gem! It's tucked away in this large plaza. I would have never found if it weren't for Yelp. The owner was super sweet and conversational. She's also a great sales person. I always shop in the marina plaza, but never really notice this place until my husband saw it and wanted to give it a try. We both wanted to try the Che and you have the option of choosing to custom your own or just order one off the menu. My husband had his custom, but I on the other hand ordered c4 off the menu since it had almost all the toppings I had wanted. This is a simple place with a few tables inside. The coconut milk was light and tasty...They do say they hand press their own coconut milk everyday! The only negative thing was that they forgot to put cendol in mine and I love cendol! This place is a bit of a hole in the wall tucked away in the corner of this shopping center. I popped in for some che which is typically fairly inexpensive. I ordered C2. $5.81 later I had a pretty mediocre drink in hand and wished I had gone across the street to get a boba from Caffe:In instead. The ingredients just didn't taste that fresh. I know some of these toppings are jarred so they aren't fresh anyway, but the beans in the drink just were really chalky and had a funky taste to them. Maybe I came on an off day? Most of the reviews really rave about this place but I think I'd rather go to Bamboo for my Che. I do plan to come back in the future if I'm in the area to give this place another try, along with the Banh Mi. read more
