M5. Taro Milk Tea w/lychee jelly

First time here and it's becoming my new Union City spot! Nice little spot in the same open mall as Marina Market located at the corner. Has pictures and menus on the wall to help you distinguish the different options. There's a lot to choose from drink-wise too, and they're so good! They have pho and rice, but banh mi is their main thing, and they do it really well! The lemongrass chicken banh mi and the korean beef banh mi were off the hook! The fresh spring rolls were just that, fresh! The lady at the counter was really nice and helpful! Great recommendations, and confirmed what we were considering already! Great spot and a must try! Will be back for sure!

    Smashed avocado - no good
    Tara L.

So sad because they used to make a good smashed avocado. It tasted very floral almost like soap and the toppings tasted old. I couldn't finish it and it threw out. Such a waste on money. Plus I asked them to make it without pandan noodles and for whatever reason it was so difficult for them to understand that. Of course when I got my drink it had pandan noodles. I think the owner has changed which explains all of this mess. I won't be back.

House Special Smoked Premium Brisket Kit The smoky flavor was super strong, just like real BBQ. The brisket was really tender, and the Vietnamese dried shrimp sauce gave it a nice kick. Braised pork belly with sticky rice The combo was perfect. The pork belly was super soft, no strong pork smell at all, and even the fatty part wasn't greasy. Pomelo Chicken & Shrimp Salad This one's my favorite. The flavor is addictive, lighter and fresher than papaya salad, with that fish sauce taste I love. Perfect for summer. Avocado Smoothie & Avocado Smash Both were loaded with avocado and plenty of toppings. The best part is they weren't too sweet, perfect for anyone who doesn't like too much sugar. 真的很balance

Small cafe supporting a family owned business! At the corner of the plaza and a bit hidden, in between Daiso and Tapioca Express, they are known for asian drinks with various toppings, Vietnamese sandwiches, a couple of entrees, and delicious appetizers. Six tables inside with plenty of chairs. We opted for the avocado smash, Che-lo special which consisted of tropical fruits with shaved ice and coconut milk, spring rolls, and popcorn chicken (your choice of 1 to 5 spice level). The Che-lo special was flavorful with fruity goodness that I came back the next day for it! The avocado smash was also a favorite for our family. Service was fast and easy. Overall, would love to try other drinks and snacks here!

The food was great. We got a special ham combo and the smoke wood brisket sandwich. I loved the classic of the special ham. My partner said the brisket was ok, but he went back and bought another plain bread to eat. The bread is great. Nice, crisp, and the lady said they special order it to be gluten free. We also got 2 drinks and veggie egg rolls (3 pieces). Cost came out to about $38, which is not bad. Considering I've paid more for mediocre. It's a small cafe but it has a decent amount of seating. Definitely try this place out.

2nd time here. I had Grilled Pork Belly the first time, had very good impression already. This time got to try BM1 House Special Grill Pork and BM8 Brisket, both are yummy! Also had the avocado smoothie, very good and fresh! Highly recommend. P.S. I saw some reviews stated that the meat is not enough, not in my case though. I think it is standard portion but if you are expecting overloading meat, that's definitely not your cup of tea.

Fast service and was very delicious!! Super friendly staff and order was ready within 10 minutes. Banh Mi was flavorful and looked just like the photos. Super affordable and lots of parking too.

Shrimp spring rolls with no proper food container.
    Zachary B.

Save your money. Ordered DoorDash from here. Here's what we ordered: - Shrimp spring rolls - was delivered without a proper food container. Instead it was wrapped in plastic wrap as if you were taking leftovers from a family potluck. - Korean beef banh mi w/ added Pate - barely any meat to fill the whole sandwich. As for the Pate, it was almost non existent. If you can see the bread through the spread, it ain't enough. - strawberry Banana smoothie - Advertised as garnished with fresh cut strawberries and bananas. Nada. None. - Avocado Smoothie - Advertised as garnished with fresh avocados. Zilch. Zero. I understand businesses are getting hit with the rising costs, but I'd rather pay more for something knowing that I'm getting what I'm paying for. You charge these prices and skimp on the customer. Definitely not sure how this place got rated as a customer favorite but it was a first and last time experience for me and my family. Taste was fine, but the taste of not getting your money's worth is what left a poor taste in my mouth. Btw, pictures shared below

Create your own desert drink. Very cold and refreshing. The fruit is fresh and tasty They also offer sandwiches. Cute location and very nice lady working the register

More veggies than "grilled chicken" :(

Happen to be in the area a remembered this place use to be good as per my previous review however, the have raised the prices a bit and for what it is the quality has gone down a bit. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and it had good flavor but very very skimpy with the chicken. In the last the sandwich had a good amount of meat but nowadays you don't get what you are paying for anymore. Still has good customer service and it's still clean and kept inside which is a plus. See picture for reference.

Lychee Milk Tea and BM1 Grilled Pork Sandwich
    Danielle L.

Service was okay for how busy they were but it goes to show that they're taking their time to make your sandwich or drink. There's plenty of tables and chair to sit and wait for your order or to eat. I've noticed that most people tend to order and take their food to go. I'm not a fan of their smoothies but enjoy their teas which includes 3 toppings of your choice. I tried their chicken and a sandwich before; both were pretty good.

The outside / front of the restaurant. It's on the corner!

But don't think there are multiple locations...yet. Upon receiving my sandwiches, it was wrapped in a paper with their company logo, and from a quick glance it is super similar to the Jersey Mikes logo in terms of color, so it has a real familiar vibe. No hate just an observation. This used to be another restaurant (maybe even several) on the edge of an industrial zone/business park, but also not too far from several shopping strips. There's spacious seating inside, but in the later afternoon when I went, nobody was eating in. But quite a few take-out and third party pick-ups. I even saw a poster showcasing their catering aspect for common work lunches on the company dime. Good for them. Niles Canyon ($14.50/4*) I opted to up this to their combo meal which includes a bag of chips and a soda for another $5. So this was easily a $20 lunch meal without tipping yet. Pricey yes, but not because they are pricier than most, but that is just the going rate for eating a meal outside these days. $15 - $20 per person are common and anything under $15 is now considered cheap eats and getting harder to run into. This sandwich had slightly warmed up deli turkey that when stacked with the swiss cheese slices, kinda softened the cheese. It wasn't ooey gooey but the cheese wasn't firm and cold either. There was another layer of prosciutto as well which wasn't too noticeable but did add another dimension. I chose to go with the full produce choice, as I love the freshness of veggies to go with meat sandwiches. There was also a layer of fresh avo slices which lent a creamy richness to the bites. I tried one of their sliced breads to go for this sandwich, as I tried a sourdough roll for another sandwich that I got to-go for my work lunch the next day. That way I got to sample their bread offerings. Their sliced marbled rye bread is thick sliced, very soft and moist with a good bread chew. They use a good bread supplier for sure. On top of mayo and mustard which is common, they also put their Bomb Sauce which seems like a garlic-y spread of sorts. I can definitely smell it, but the taste isn't overly strong. I'd say super similar to Mr Pickles. Prosciutto Sandwich ($13/4*) This was an all-cold traditional sandwich. I took a couple of bites there to see how it was fresh from the counter, and I ate the rest the next day at work. I gotta say I liked it better the next day as all the flavors melded more together. Even tho the veggies get a bit mushier, I've always liked a well dressed salad sensation in sandwiches, kinda like a Muffeletta sandwich where it is refrigerated overnight, meant to be eaten the next day. Their prosciutto isn't the old school imported version, or at least I've never had one quite like it. I'm assuming a domestic version, even seemed more like cappicola to me as I sensed a tinge of fennel up in there. So pretty satisfied with my first visit. I'll definitely get sandwiches here again for work or day trip lunches. Pretty much on the same level as Togo's or Mr. Pickles, but just more local. With sandwich names as The Quarry Lakes, The Decoto and The Dumbarton, just pulls on my local lovin' heartstrings. Props.

First thing that surprised me was the size - it was certainly on the smaller side, especially compared to other sandwich places. Understandably their price is more affordable, but next time I would probably just size up. Flavor-wise, the sandwiches themselves tasted great and I had no complaints there. The issue was the bread. The Dutch crunch was a literal ROCK. On my first bite I actually had to stop and take the sandwich apart just to eat it more comfortably. I thought maybe it was just one, but both sandwiches had the same issue. Dutch crunch is usually a bit firm, but this was on another level. The mac salad and potato salad were solid for what they are, maybe a little more sour than I prefer, but still enjoyable. Huge props to the staff though. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. The lady at the counter even apologized for the wait, but it honestly wasn't long at all, under 5 minutes for me. The person packing my order also threw in two chocolate chip cookies, which I really appreciated. There just wasn't enough filling, and even after ordering extra veggies, it didn't seem like there were actually any extra added. If you're specifically craving a Vietnamese sandwich, I'd recommend driving about a mile up the road to Huong Sandwiches instead. That said, I still want to come back and try more of their food menu because the drinks alone keep bringing me back. The café itself is adorable. I love the modern design and all the greenery throughout the space. It's clean, quiet enough to study or work, and has about 7 small tables, making it ideal for solo visits or small groups of up to four people. I also appreciated the powerful hand dryer in the restroom (it's the little things!) and plenty of parking. Come for the drinks, stay for the atmosphere.

This is my favorite place to grab a #9 grilled pork bahn mi. Their baguettes grew bigger too but their portion size of filling grew as well. Their prices increased to $8 but that's inflation for you...can't expect it to stay $4 forever lol. They have other food items but I don't get it that much. Service remains top tier as the workers hustle their way to pushing our sandwiches at top speed. They now offer Zelle as an option to pay but just have cash ready bc signal is not that great.

Bread was 5 stars, toasted and soft inside. 5 stars overall - egg rolls, wow, surprisingly good since it was on the deli and who knows how long it was sitting there. Still crunchy and very flavorful - stuffed bitter melon, wasn't sure if I wanted to try it since the color wasn't vibrant green, but a customer in front of me ordered one so what the heck, I love bitter melon. Wow, full of flavor, the pork filling was excellent, 5 stars Service - took 20 minutes to get our a simple order, not the most efficient, but one must accept this for the price point and quality, but still slow so only 3 stars I would average this out as 3 stars but the food far outweighs the service, just be prepared for a long wait.
