Still the best cheesesteak in the Bay Area

Still the best cheese steak in the Bay Area Start with quality ingredients Don't mess with it. Hope they re open some of the locations (Palo Alto, San Mateo etc)

    Motown Philly half sandwich $9.99

This was mixed for me - pricing felt high for a half sandwich but it was overall tasty. I hate having the cheese directly on the bread though - so most of the bites are cheese-less and then no cheese on the meaty bites. Ambience isn't much here but there were spaces to eat when I was here for lunch (but the tables were not cleaned). I'm not sure if I'd be back.

I've never had the opportunity to spy or sample a cheese steak in its native habitat of Philadelphia before but I must imagine that they are quite a bit different than this because the offerings here at Cheese Steak Shop are... pretty mediocre. The meat and cheese itself, pretty important ingredients one would imagine in a "cheese steak", were rather bland and underseasoned. The hot & sweet peppers offered a bit more flavor, but they were haphazardly thrown on top of the sandwich, easily falling off with every attempted bite. I appreciate that they let you subsitute curly fries in place of regular fries for no additional cost, but the curly fries themselves were also underseasoned and they've taken the criminal but all too common step of charging for dipping sauce so if you want to enjoy your curly fries with ranch (the only right way to do so) except to be charged an extra dollar for the pleasure. The restaurant interior was clean and there was a surprising amount of seating for the small area, but sadly the food quality just doesn't warrant a repeat visit anytime soon.

Quick service, hot food, and a chill vibe. I was craving a sandwich while on a walk and decided to stop here! Curly fries were great, I asked for onions on the cheesesteak, but I think the girl taking my order mistook that for no onions, but it was tasty either way! I took it to go and ate the other half as leftovers

Really great cheesesteaks! Generous amount of meat in the sandwich and large portion of fries. There was a perfect cheese to steak ratio and the bread was very delicious. The curly fries were my favorite, as they were nice and crispy, but the steak fries were also good. The staff at this location were also very friendly and the service was very fast. I would highly recommend this place if you're in the mood for a cheesesteak!

10/10 give me 14 of them right now. This cheesesteak I had right before going to Philly set the bar high. This is the best cheesesteak I've had in my life. The meat is tender but the cheese is melted in it so nicely. The meat is also super thin. The peppers give a nice acidity, spice and sweetness all at once somehow. There is a good amount of seating indoors but the plaza also has some tables outside. The service was quick and very friendly. I will say this sandwich was on the more pricey side (around ~$17 after tax and tip). However, definitely worth it if you are having the craving.

Suppose to be garlic fries, so dry and no flavor.

Spent $45+ and was disappointed when you don't get what ordered. While checking my order I noticed our garlic steak fries didn't have any garlic on it so I asked them about it and he took it back tossed it in a metal container and gave it back to me. Great, I thought until we got home. It's the same fries as he originally gave it to me, no garlic oil, no flavor. Bag it came in was dry as can be. What was he tossing?!? Not garlic fries.

Decent amount of meat and cheese, but no salt to be had on their cheesesteak. Which is a hard thing to miss :(

The restaurant was very pretty, with a sleek and floral theme. Also, I noticed some herby smell which was pleasant so extra hats off to that detail. I placed a reservation of 5 at 7:45 pm on a Friday night with me and my family, and we had no issues getting to our table. We were a bit late, however staff made sure that we get seated in no time. Once we got sat down, we got our menus and took some time to decide what to order. Our amazing friend and waitress Elizabeth made sure to give us time to thoroughly look through the menu and decide on what we were going to eat. She was very friendly and caring, and was so excited to take our order, which elevated her experience. Her suggestions were perfect for our family. We ordered the Mixto Clásico ceviche, 2 orders of truffle mac and cheese, Arroz Con Mariscos, Pollo A La Brasa (Half chicken), Beef Anticuchero Roll, and Lengua a La Parilla. In five minutes, the staff already brought the ceviche, which included calamari, fish, veggies, and the taro chips. It was refreshing and citrusy. After we finished that , then another 3 minutes goes by, and everything arrived. I was so shocked on how fast they serve especially because of how busy they were. All the dishes were so fresh and cooked to perfection. The mac was so creamy, cheesy, and delectable especially because of the truffles. The pollo a la brasa was cooked nice and tender, served with fries, and that yellow sauce was addicting, literally ON CRACK. The lengua was great, the mashed potatoes along with the lengua, shrimp, and spicy sauce gave it texture and flavor. The nikkei beef antichchuero roll I was surprised with. Sushi in a Peruvian restaurant? However, I did not expect to be one of the best and interesting rolls I have tried ever. The arroz con mariscos was my favorite by far. It really reminds me of a Spanish paella, with a seafood galore presented with a bed of rice and veggies. It was very filling and delicious. Of course, we couldn't just end there, we obviously had to go for dessert. We chose the Tres Leches cake, and it was presented with chocolate, caramel, and strawberry sauce which was sweet and smooth. Paired with the cake, it was so good and a genius combination. In the end, when leaving, our staff asked us if we needed any extra help with anything before we left, which was a very kind gesture. When we left, the staff kindly greeted us a warm goodbye, and thanked Elizabeth especially for helping us order these great assortments of dishes. In the end, we left with our stomachs full of food and great memories. I am already looking forward to my next visit here, and please, give this Peruvian spot a try, because you will never go back to any other ones besides this spot.

She really took care of us. When we check in, we informed that one of us has peanut allergy, but when our salmon order came, we saw it came with peanut (which is the og menu) so she gave us an additional salmon without the peanut. On top of that she also offer us sodas but we didn't want it. She also ask if we want more kalbi since the chef had an extra plate, so yea of course we took it. The desserts were delicious too. They're unique and not overwhelmingly sweet. Thank you Maria for taking care of us! We appreciate you! We'll be back for sure! The ambiance was beautiful for dating, family time, or group time. *Vegetarian Foodie Review*…read more This place is right next to the Beer Garden, but it's more of a restaurant-style, dine-in format. I felt like there were limited dinner options for vegetarians. The food felt more like snacks and less like something that fills you up. We came as a group of 11 for a Father's Day weekend dinner. Ordered: 1) Lemonade: 5/5 - So good and refreshing. Must try! 2) Pita + Dips (from snacks): 4/5 - The 1st pita wasn't fully baked, but they fixed it by replacing it. 3) Chickpea Fritters: 4/5 - I am not a big fan of goat yogurt, but if you do like it, this would be a 5/5. The taste and feel felt like India style which was a hit! 4) Grilled corn: 2/5 - No one in my group liked this. It was too sweet because of the caramel, not a good combination. We sat outside on the patio, but the inside ins awesome too. It's a fancy place, good for celebrations and special occasions. But yeah, the food wasn't fulling, we left a little hungry. Service was a little too slow, but that's okay given it was Father's Day weekend.

The German Spicy Mustard was perfect as well as a sweet tomato Chutney. I had the Ribs and Mac & Cheese. The Mac a Cheese had a mild spicy flavor that you don't expect in a Mac & Cheese. It was a perfect blend of Spicy and sweet. Best I've ever had bar none. Hubby had the Truffle Gnocchi. Thought it was really good. The cream sauce was surprisingly light not gut bomb heavy. The Gnocchi was light with perfect texture. Overall great dish. The one failure to the dinner was the Fish n Chips.
