Several years back, when I first tried it, I was hesitant on what to order. The Lion King (made with garlic aioli) was a hit, so I was getting that. But I wasn't sure on the chicken wings. The owner told me to wait a second, and he disappeared to the back kitchen. He emerged with a piping hot, fresh fried chicken wing in hand. It was a free sample, just because he was convinced that if I tried it, I would like it. He was right. They have removed a lot of specials and reduced their hours of operation. I felt like I paid too much for what I ordered. The taste is still good so I will hope to come back when they re-initiate the sushi specials. Service is still pretty speedy. Husband and I ordered $65 dollars worth of sushi and sashimi and it didn't even fill up one of us. There portions, for what they were charging, were laughable. $13 for 5 pc hamachi and each piece was minuscule. Thought this was going to be a good fast food teriyaki joint, but I believe it only was "good" because of its convenience. The customer service lacked from the beginning. I met up with my guy for lunch and he placed an order. I went in and somehow the cashier decided instead to bypass him and give me the order (while I was standing outside and he was inside of the store). He was waiting for the food, and HE was the one that placed the order while I was outside... so why the heck would you give the order to me instead? Made no sense and was disrespectful for sure. Then it came down to the food. He got me the Salmon Teriyaki bento and he had some kind of shrimp and beef bowl. The portion was great, but lacked flavor. The consistency of the teriyaki sauce threw me off. It was wayyyyy too thick and looked like it was a play dough version of teriyaki sauce. Decided to stop here last minute on our way home from the mall and boy was it a mistake. This business knows NOTHING about customer service. I have worked in customer service for 16 years and if I was this girls manager I would have fired her. Maybe after the pandemic they lost their motivation? I came in on Saturday 4/9 around 330 and the girl working was so unhelpful. She clearly hates her job. On 3 separate instances she was rude to customers as we waited for food. When customers would ask questions she was rude and just stared at them. She didn't even TRY to help. At one point a customer was getting upset and then the girl working turned around to chef, said something and laughed with each other. I even asked if I could leave a tip on the card and no thank you. Also, this place is SO dirty. They need to do a deep clean. If it was clean maybe they wouldn't have a rodent/bug problem (look at their heath score). The keypad was caked with grime. Dust, dirt and grime everywhere! The most random sushi place ive been to. Not that its bad but man, they are what you call hole in the wall. I went here with my husband because we were craving sushi and didn't want to go somewhere too far or something that is too expensive. I relied on YELP and this awesome place popped up. It looks like a fast food/food court style restaurant and thought to myself, this place has this many reviews/stars?! Okokok, let me try the food before I judge them more. I looked at the menu and selected the basic sushi, can't go wrong with that right?! California roll, salmon roll, spicy tuna, 49er roll. They dont ask you if you want it togo or not, they will just serve you in the foam togo boxes and you have the choice to eat in. For the togo, make sure you ask for utensils if you need them (I believe I saw them on the side) because they only give you the boxes and no bag. I dont know if they charge you or not for the bags but I took the boxes without the bags. I got home and I tried them all. The 49er roll was bomb and so was the cali roll. We were looking for sushi togo for a group of 9 people and ordered a bunch of foods from this restaurant based on 800+ reviews and 4 stars! And because it is only 5 minutes from our house. Have to say everyone is super super disappointed at the sushit here. We got dragon rolls, chef teriyaki roll, cali rolls, kali and unagi hand rolls, chicken teriyaki bento, lion king roll, and the mix sashimi. The sashimi are NOT fresh at all and looks terrible!! No one even touched it because we are worried to get sick from eating it because it just looks so bad. Only the hand rolls and the chicken teriyaki are somewhat better. The rest of the rolls are too thick of rice and super bulky because of the rice, and tasted like putting a gigantic chunk of rice with a bit of stale fish in our mouth! What a waste of $125 and terrible dinner experience. Just a note that they also required payment over the phone for large order which is fine, but the quality we get totally sucks. Truthfully, it's been a year or two since I've been here because I moved across town but I have rediscovered this amazing place! The portions are GINORMOUS, and the price is unreal. They always have lunch or dinner specials that make this place is amazing if you're on a budget, or super hungry LOL We've recently been making Costco runs about every two weeks, and this place is always the next stop. Since we come here in the afternoon, we always take advantage of the lunch specials. We end up getting two massive boxes stuffed with chicken teriyaki and rice/noodles for about 10 or $11. I don't know any other location that gives you such great perks. The sushi here is really great too. Not super fancy, but it is super good. Recently I've been into baked rolls so I've been getting the lion King and spicy tuna, or spam musubi. The spam is my least favorite of the three, but all of their other roles are really good. Perfect for a grab and go! The prices here are great for what you get. Way cheaper than going to let's say Hibachi-san at the mall. Cheaper than mall food and way better quality and portions. Today my husband picked up two kids teppanyaki (chicken and steak), a steak and shrimp teppanyaki, and a 49er roll for me. Each order was under $10 and filled us up well. I wish I knew more about the happy hour deals and such. My husband said they had so many promotions advertised but since it was our first time we weren't able to take advantage. We will try this place again and hopefully once we get into the groove of things we can increase our rating. My husband said the people working are really nice and that's great especially with fast food. The only complaint that I have is that my 49er roll barely had a full salmon on top. Normally rolls with an outer layer of fish have the fish wrap almost completely around the roll. With my roll the salmon was cut so small it basically looked like it was placed on top BUT for 8.95 am i mad? not at all. Again, perfect grab and go you get what you pay for.
