My friends and I were looking for quality tacos and we definitely found them. First time there and I will go again. The lady taking my order mentioned the secret menu and we had no idea about it. Y'all.. this place is soooo gooood! I had been here once before and had been craving it. I woke up this morning around 11:30am (I like my beauty sleep) and instead of making brunch at home, my fiancé suggested we go to Chilangos. Of course we over ordered. We got an order of the birria tacos (comes with 3 tacos, only available during the weekend), 1 costra taco (specialty), 4 tacos al pastor, 4 carne asada tacos, and 1 elote. My favorites are the birria tacos and the costra taco! Both tacos are juicy and have cheese. I forgot to ask for pineapples for the tacos al pastor but they were great as well. I like that the corn tortillas aren't greasy. We also got a cup of horchata which was really good. Not artificial at all, at least to me. read more

I'll try and keep this short. Been here a couple times and the tacos were pretty good. The parking is limited, place seats ~30 people, fun vibrant interior, music is loud, quick service. 1. First time I got the Steak Tacos they were juicy, but not that flavorful. The second time they were dry and bland. 2. The Pastor was the best pastor I've had in a while. Definitely the best taco I tried from there and super flavorful. 3. The Mix of Steak and Pork taco wasn't bad. I got it cause, why not get both? Overall the Tacos were good and I should have bought way more. Small street taco size, I probably could have killed 20 of them. Great place to stop and get a few quick bites. Don't necessarily need to dine in. Next time, cause there will be a next time for me, I'm probably just getting the Pastor tacos. read more

Best tacos ever! Even after they've traveled an hour via Uber eats! And their green avocado salsa is to die for!!! I always buy extra for later ! I love this place! I haven't tried their new location on Montfort yet because it always looks packed - must be because their tacos are the bomb! read more

During the time of COVID. Did not get a chance to try the tacos because the line was so long during weekend lunch hour. As another reviewer mentioned, the line was super long with NO social distancing with the line inside. Had to wait outside for a bit and people would cut us if we weren't physically in the restaurant. They do have 2 small tables set up outside to eat. Come outside of peak hours unless you're comfortable squishing in with a large group of people. read more

I'm so disappointed in their birria tacos. I saw pictures of influencers on Instagram posting pics of their birria tacos. They looked good so I came to support but highly disappointed. Considering they execute their costras and regular tacos well. I didn't think they would fail so miserably for the birria. Birria tacos are supposed to be crispy so you can dip the tacos in the sauce. The tacos I got looked nothing like the picture they posted on Instagram. I feel like I got scammed. They were soggy, too flimsy to dip. There were no cilantro or onions in my tacos like their Instagram pictures. I got one el pastor costras and one order of birria tacos. My total was $18.12. The costras was $5 and was good as usual. The birria was around $10-12 dollars. I wasted money because they were not edible. I threw them out. I live in Lewisville and got food to go so I'm not driving back over there to complain. I messaged them on Instagram and they did not response. They "seen" my messages though. I love supporting locals but if local business scams people like this then I will think twice Don't get the birria, stick to their regular tacos. This is a great spot for some authentic tacos. I originally decided to visit for Birria Tacos ... Unfortunately, I went on a Friday and they are only served on a Saturday and Sunday... I am visiting from Chicago and not able to go back! I ordered 1 Carne Asada taco, 1 Pastor taco, Los Elotes, and a Jarritos. Everything was delicious! The meat was well seasoned and juicy. The cilantro, onions, and pineapples (comes with pastor taco) was fresh. The Los Elotes was very good.. Salsa was fresh and the jalapeño salsa is my favorite... I have no complaints! I would definitely come back. The atmosphere was great and the establishment was very clean. Employees and customers wear mask and hand sanitizer was provided up front! read more

i always get the quesadillas with grilled onions. it's really yummy and the wait isn't long at all. good customer, the place is cozy more like come in enjoy the food then go about your day with. one thing i will say that gives it a 4 star instead of 5 is that sometimes you'll get a couple chewy beef bits, other than that, it's awesome. read more

Called to order the family pack as advertised in Yelp, as a take-out order. Was advised by restaurant that there actually isn't a family pack. Don't know what the good reviews are for, I didn't find their food good. We ordered 8 tacos with chilango meat and um... hard no on that!! We're from the Bay Area and have had some really good Mexican food... this was not it and we were extremely disappointed. Meat was dry and fatty, had no flavor. Salsa flavor was non existent either. The only thing that made the food edible was the lime. We do not recommend at all... sorry!! read more

Wowowow. That was me while I was eating my tacos. If you're looking for an authentic taco place that tastes amazing... look no further, you've found it! They are in a plaza so parking is pretty much plentiful. You walk in, order your food at the counter, then they call you to come retrieve it. I ordered the chicken and brisket tacos + the birria on the side. I've been looking for MONTHS for a place that had this! & finally found it! It's a beef stew side, that you can dip your tacos into! Just gives it that extra flavor that we all love, then has shredded beef at the bottom. The brisket was nice and tender, the chicken wasn't dry. Chilangos is one of the closest places I've found to the authentic street tacos of Mexico City. Come early, if you can, because seating can be minimal during lunch. There are roughly six small tables that seat four each, but the tables are in tight quarters. Even with counter sitting along the wall, there's limited space. The tacos are incredible! On my many trips here, I've only had the tacos. The tacos come topped with cilantro & onions and a grilled jalapeño & grilled onions on the side. If you get the Pastor, you can get grilled pineapples pieces on your taco. And yes, you should get the pineapple. The sweetness of the pineapple pairs perfectly with the spicy Pastor flavors. CT has a green and red salsa for you to place on your tacos. Both are very flavorful, the red being the hotter of the two. I will usually use the Green on Pastor tacos and the Red on my Asada tacos. CT has become one of my favorite go-to spots for tacos. You have to give them a try if you're in the area!!!! read more

By FARRRR, no competition, BEST Tacos/food I've had here in Texas, actually, the U.S.!!! I had the Al Pastor tacos, Campechano Quesadilla, Pastor Costra taco, Elote & of course Mexican Coca-Cola. They know how to do tacos, at least Pastor, right. The best flavor and it didn't taste like old greasy tacos like I've had and topped off with some pineapple, cilantro and onion. I love the mix of steak and pork (Campechano) in the quesadilla and the Costra taco was so good. Honestly I can't even say anything other than these were as close as you can get to authentic Mexican tacos. The elote was also good and not soupy like many other places I've tried. Even though the least spicy sauce was a bit spicy, it was so flavorful and tasty! Don't tell me about any other taco spot cause I don't want to hear it, THIS IS IT!!! read more

Lets talk about how amazing this place is. So Happy a friend of mine discovered this and decided to share. Me and a group of friends came here on TACOO TUUESDAAYY! Lets start with the service, the young lady taking the orders is soo sweet and really helpful with any questions. the actual restaurant is not that big so Don't go with 20 or more and expected to sit comfortably. Get ya tacos and eat outside, they will still be good. I promise. LOL I had the Costra, (not on the menu, but please try it) Its like a grilled cheese wrap taco, it still comes with a shell. I also had a quesadilla, a reg taco and ELOTES. Everything was soo yummy. I enjoyed it soo much. Nothing was over $4. They do not have liquor but it looks like they are ok with you bring beer or a drink to enjoy while you eat. Great tacos, Can't wait to get back!! read more

Came to Dallas to attend the bbq + ramen collaboration at Uchiba, but made a point to visit Chilangos for their costra tacos. Chilangos's version has the griddled cheese wrapped around the meat rather than the tortilla, but my campechano costra tasted great inside a grilled flour tortilla. Only had room for one more item and got an al pastor taco. It was juicy but a bit fatter than I'm generally used to for al pastor. Still good. Service and ambiance was friendly; the cashier was kind enough to help me navigate which combinations of meat and tortilla to go with my costra and tacos. Will visit again next time in Dallas. read more

I always know the food will be good when I'm the only white person in the building. The salsa was fantastic, it was like every other salsa is just trying to be as good as theirs. I had 1 barbacoa, 1 pastor, and 1 pollo taco. They were all so so good but I think barbacoa was my favorite. Definitely come here. Pretty casual vibe, I think most people order to go. read more

Came here on Sunday and it was busy. Tiny place. Probably waited 30 minutes for tacos. Al pastor was the best. Birria was good. Steak was alright Pork/steak mix was good Chicken was meh. Carnitas were really good Barbacoa was alright. It's really fatty so if you don't like that then don't get it. The costra with the grilled cheese was good. These tacos are sooooo legit. The homemade tortillas and the simply seasoned fresh meat is so good. They give onions, cilantro, fresh limes, and the salsa verde is so so so good! I loved the steak and barbacoa. The marinated pork was also good, and they give you chopped pineapples for that one if you like that kind of mix. Great prices and fresh! read more

As I type this, my husband is standing in line for round 3. My very particular children LOVED the pollo tacos and had to have a 2nd round. My husband and I had the asada, barbacoa, hongos. We hadn't finished when the kids wanted round 2, so that prompted the 3rd time in line. We had to have more. Sevice was quick. The line was pretty steady. I would DEFINITELY recommend a stop here if you are in Dallas. read more

So I've eaten at Chilangos a dozen times or more. If you go there in person, everything goes smoothly but if you order through DoorDash out of the last five orders, not one has been complete. I usually just get their tacos Pastore with the pineapple and onions and cilantro. But they never seem to be able to get the pineapple in the order which they charge extra for and the sauces for six tacos. I get one tiny little pack of sauce, which only holds about a teaspoon and I just don't think that's enough. By the time the order is delivered it's over $30. Luckily, DoorDash is refunded most of that each time because Chilangos can't seem to get their order, correct. So this time I actually called the location told them who I was and that I just placed an order through DoorDash and please double check the order to make sure it had everything and give me enough sauce. She told me she would talk to the kitchen and asked me to hold But after 10 minutes I hung up and tried to call back and they blocked the call to where you can't call them now. So I would say be wary the only item on the menu I would suggest is the tacos Pastore but if you order it through DoorDash, the chance of you getting the order delivered correctly with everything you asked for is almost zero. What does one do while your kid is at soccer practice? Look for the closest taqueria. Located at a little strip mall on Harry Hines, it is a beacon of goodness on a notoriously shady road. I got three items, barbacoa tacos on corn (2), a campechano costra, and a quesadilla with carne asada. The barbacoa was spot on. The sort of tacos I could eat 8 of but never let my let myself because, let's face it, barbacoa is not the healthiest food choice. But if I was going to eat 8, I would do it here. Greasy, but not ruin your shirt and pants greasy. Just enough. Salsa verde was tangy but mild in heat. I could have used more heat, and just more because they only gave me one in my to go box. Costra is fried and rolled cheese filled with, in my case, campechano. Then they stuck it in a flour tortilla. The flour tortilla disguises a nice crunch from the cheese. It could have used a little more meat, but since I chose campechano (pork and steak) more meat would have made it overly salty due to the cheese. So I guess I needed a different meat. Lastly, I like the option of getting a little quesadilla for under 4 bucks. So a carne asada quesadilla topped it all off. I did enjoy. If you like tacos, you'll like this place. Drop your kid off at soccer, go get you tacos and go back to watch the rest of practice. And don't eat all the tacos, your kid might want one. read more

So I am visiting from DMV area and I was following an instagram page that basically said this place was the spot for the BEST tacos! No lie! I haven't had a real Tex-Mex until this place. We were in the area and decided to get some tacos, they are so delicious that went there two times in four days. I tried a variety of tacos but my favorites were definitely al pastor and mushroom tacos (the second time we visited I had 4 al pastor tacos and 4 mushroom tacos). The atmosphere was on point, great Latin music and you feel the Mexican vibe. If you are in Dallas and you want tacos, you have to go to this place. read more

Eating 7 tacos pushes you over $20, which is sit down restaurant territory for some quick grab and go food. Let's do the math: for the price of just two of these tacos, I can go to In N Out and get a Double Double. That gets me two 100% pure beef patties packing 37 grams of actual protein, and I will leave completely full. What am I supposed to do with two Fuel City tacos? Use them to fill the spaces between my teeth? Also, skip the snacks inside. They price gouge like crazy! Sometimes nearly 2x what you would pay at 7-Eleven or Tom Thumb (which are not even cheap to begin with). Last time I checked, a bag of Hot Cheetos here was 6 bucks! For perspective, they are $3.97 at Walmart and $4.79 at Target. It is a total rip off. The final straw was the horchata. I bought two cups at 6:00 PM, drank one, and put the second straight into the fridge. By midnight, it had completely curdled and turned sour. It was clearly spoiled and at the end of its shelf life when sold, and it gave me a case of the runs later that night. This place survives solely on ancient hype, out of town truck drivers, transients who do not know the area, and nighttime biker meet ups. No local should pay a massive premium for gas station tacos and food poisoning when authentic neighborhood taquerias and actual burger joints offer real value for a less money.

Chilangos ranks among the better taco stands and taquerias in the East Dallas area. While it's located just a few blocks from some tough competition, this spot definitely holds its own. The freshly made corn tortillas are a standout, and the green salsa verde is excellent, packed with flavor and a nice kick. My top recommendation is the Bistec taco, which was incredibly tasty. Don't sleep on the fajita either, and the Al Pastor is fantastic! Juicy, well-seasoned, and authentically done. One thing I'd love to see in the future is aguas frescas; I didn't spot any during my visit. That said, they offer Jarritos and Mexican Cokes as expected.
