I will barely give this Chili's a 2 1/2 stars. Stopped in for lunch around 1:45pm. Long wait time, limited staff and not very good food for having to pay $20. Ordered the shrimp taco plate. The tortillas were hard and dried, the rice was cold and crunchy. The beans were cold as well. The shrimps were so small and so spicy!!!!! I will not be back. An overall waste of time and money. I have never had to wait 20 minutes over ETA for an online order at chili's. What is literally going on!? If you're short staffed shut off the online order option OR give accurate ETA's. This is ridiculous and extremely unacceptable. We waited curbside for 10 minutes only to go to the TO-GO door and they hadn't even prepared any items from our order. Gift card brought us here for a to go order of appetizers and dessert to go. The fried curds and southwestern eggrolls are my favorite, and they weren't soggy when I opened my to go box. Today was an awesome experience. My family and I tend to steer clear of restaurants because we have a special needs child. Today we decided to try out this chili's. My husband let the hostess know that we needed a booth in the back because of our childs need. She took amazing care of us and set us up well. She was so kind to our child and the staff was great that we were left so appreciative of their service. Usually we get negative responses when we're out with our child that we tend to lean more towards fastfood like venues, but we did not have that here. Yesterday my friends and I went to Chili's to the bar to have some drinks and appetizers. We noticed that there was a customer that had two chairs one for her and one for her purse. I contact the manager if she could talk to her to remove her purse so we could sit down and she said there was nothing that she could do about it. You're a manager there is something you could do about it you could ask her to please remove the purse we have customers standing and would like to sit down. I was kind of confused so what's the point of being a manager just for title and that's it not able to help customer's. We were very disappointed and we go there a lots. read more

We've been coming to this chili's since I was a child and I am 39 now. They have had great management in the past in good servers. Tonight we went and got seated fairly quickly, we had to wait for food for well over an hour and 20 minutes. Our server was nice, but inattentive and obviously had no clue what he was doing. When the food came I had ordered A6 ounce sirloin with loaded mashed potatoes and corn. The potatoes looked like they had been sitting under the heater for the whole hour and 20 minutes, and When I bit into the steak it was completely congealed fat. I threw up within 5 minutes of taking 2 bites. I am so disappointed this location has gone this far south. When managment came to the table they offered the excuse that they were so backed up because of door dash orders. My girlfriend and I love coming here for their Happy Hour. We always receive wonderful service, and the food is consistently delicious. Our orders come out very quickly, and our drinks are kept full! Honestly this was my first time coming in. For starters I shouldn't expect good service from a place like this which is understandable. But as soon as we got here I looked around and it wasn't too busy. We stood waiting to be seated for almost 6 minutes without anyone insight of sitting us down. Or at least to let us know they'd be right with us. Then before I decided to leave I told myself okay let's wait another minute to give this place the benefit of doubt thinking maybe they're short staff. Tonight we ventured out into the world and had dinner here. 1/4 of the restaurant full with a 45-60 minute wait for a table. 2 servers to care for the patrons. Decided the bar would be faster. Ordered drinks: Bloody Mary was ok, the Long Island was pure simple syrup. The margaritas tasted of syrup. Was there any alcohol in anything? I doubt it. The food was fine. Nothing noteworthy sadly. Horrible! We had to wait for over an hour just to get called up to be seated! UNACCEPTABLE! Especially for a party of THREE! We waited for so long, I actually thought they either bypassed our name, or just didn't care as about three or four other parties of three people were called up! When we finally got seated, after I had to ask them if we were still going to be seated, in which the lady said we would be next (I think it was just because I asked and if I didn't, we would of been sitting there for longer!) After we were FINALLY seated, after moving past a handful of EMPTY FREAKING TABLES enough to fit 2 - 4 people (unbelievable!), it took us over TWENTY (20) minutes before we finally asked where the heck the server was. When the server finally did show up, we learned that they only have had one.. ONE cook the entire day, since they opened (slave labor much?) We finished our meal, all the while being coddled by the server, probably to try and feebly compensate for our incredibly long wait for our meal (they should of made it on the house and paid us for coming for the time we wasted waiting and waiting for service). Amazingly we still left a tip, because it wasn't the waiter's fault the service was so crap. The bald guy with a beard who was our server on June 21 2019 around 3 or 4 p.m is an ass. He legit got frustrated when we asked for a round of waters. If the customer is asking for water. Just give them the fu king water. It's nasty tap water anyways. What's the big deal. We had drinks and after that wanted water. Is something wrong with that? He seemed irritated the whole time. We are practically regulars here. We come in at least a few times a month and also order to-go quite a bit. We have never had a problem with the food as it always hits the spot. We have had a few issues with our to-go orders in the past, and that is the only reason for only 4 stars. They have always fixed their mistakes. The food usually comes out pretty quick and the price is never too crazy. It can get busy some nights so its a good idea to try and grab a spot in the bar area (it is first come first served) I like that they have Tv's almost everywhere (not just the bar area). Don't let contractors get away with sloppy work that can hurt customers. Center the lighting fixture so customers stop getting hurt when they get up from the table. This is an extremely busy Chili's on one of the busiest intersections in San Jose. We arrived near the end of the rush, waited about ten minutes for a table and enjoyed an excellent meal with GREAT service from Xavier (Xavier S.). He was assisted by a trainee (unfortunately I've forgotten her name), but she was personable, clearly knew the menu and recorded our order perfectly. Not Ignoring that we were ignored for at least 10 minutes when we arrived in that there was no Host or Hostess, our food was disappointing for the most part. Chili was over seasoned. Roasted corn was overcooked and the covering uninteresting. The ribs tasted like they spent too long next to gas burner and absorbed the taste of the gas or lighter fluid ?. They were also stringy and the coating was burnt and had a bad taste. The Caesar salad was ok. The french fries were very good. The chips were unsalted and the salsa needs a different name in that it doesn't belong in the salsa category. It was watery and flavorless. Our Grandson had the Bacon Rancher Burger and enjoyed it. It's noon on a Sunday. The tables are empty. There's a long line of people waiting to be seated. Where's the staff?! This has happened so many times at this location, this will be my last attempt. There is always a long wait, even if there are empty tables visible. The staff is almost always terse to the point of rudeness, often ignoring tables for long periods of time. The food is generally okay.. once you get it. The wait for service is at least as shamefully slow as the wait for a table. This is a great location and clearly with all the people queuing for a table, I can't understand why Chili's isn't doing more to increase their staff and improve customer satisfaction! read more

It was a birthday dinner and we waiting an hour and a half at our table just for them to tell us that they are really backed up. Communication is very much appreciated especially in customer service. My mom has metal rods up and down her shin due to a broken leg this last year so she cannot sit for very long which caused her to have to get up a walk around a few times. Once they did start bringing the food I'm out the food was cold and some items we didn't even want anymore due to being so frustrated. I love Chili's food, their fajitas are the best. However, this particular location has a very serious problem with staffing. Every time my family comes here we wait for 30-40 min or more! That would be fine if all the tables were full but they're not. As we sit in the waiting area we can see 10-15 empty tables. When asked about all the empty tables they always say someone is out or they're waiting fo the next shift to come in. Hire more staff and seat your waiting patrons! read more

Came her last night. The waiter was super nice. Young kid great attitude! I have been here since I was younger in my high school days. I am now 40. This restaurant has drastically changed. The food is awful!! Only thing good is the chips and salsa. I did not like my food at all I had something called a brisket quesadilla. It had barbecue sauce in it and it was just the nastiest thing on earth. My daughter had macaroni and cheese that looked like it had been sitting there for days. Visually speaking, this location stands out. The interior and exterior look great. Foodwise, however, this location is lacking. I ate here on Monday night with 5 others. We arrived at about 9 (the restaurant closed at 11). I wanted to watch the end of the Cowboys-Redskins game (it was playing on the TV near the entrance), but the MLB Network was on the TV near us (my dad was at least fine with that). They're meaty, but short. No one wanted my steamed broccoli (my wife would have eaten the 3 pieces that I gave her, but she didn't see them). I didn't finish my skillet mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes are kind of spicy here, which is fine with me, but the texture of my mashed potatoes could have been better (in short, they were a little lumpy and not creamy). Little Chicken Crispers: 8.25/10. The kids' menus are really nice (my aunt likes them too), and all the Pepper Pal meals are only $5.29 (there are 10 selections for kids 12 & under). My son drank most of his chocolate milk right away. He didn't finish it, and he hardly touched his food (he mainly had some of the shredded cheese that was in front of my wife). He just wasn't hungry (he spent a lot of time walking around the table with his plush Snoopy). My son received a lot of Homestyle Fries. They were tasty and not too salty. They were also long. The Little Chicken Crispers were a little too crunchy (overly breaded), but were otherwise good. Some of our food was too salty or spicy. That's mainly why I'm not praising the food here more. I normally enjoy my visits but tonight's visit to the 5650 Almaden Expwy, San Jose, location was very poor. Apparently understaffed, there was no host on duty. When seated we were unsettled to find that ants were crawling over the wall of our booth seats. we were moved relatively quickly, but then had to deal with missing items and slow drink refills. To top it all off my wife saw one of the servers in the bathroom perform a very cursory washing of their hands. Basically running their finger tips under the water and that was about it. Certainly not up to the standards I would expect from those engaged in handling food. All in all a very disappointing experience. read more

Our entire time they I think I may have seen him twice. The wait time to get our food was insane! We literally waited 30/40 min for a kids meal and the trio appetizer! We were starving! This place is dirty, they have tried to upgrade it with "small meals" or putting the fries in a tin to be a little modern but their service is from the 1800s.
