Chicken Tocilog Crispy Fried Chicken Rice Plate combo
Janice A.

This place is awesome! Good food, awesome service, and the place really lives up to its name, chill. The garlic sticky rice was new for me. Flavor was good. Tocino and adobo were also really good. Out of the empanadas I liked the beef one the best. I wish it didn't have raisins though but I think raisins are standard in certain foods. Ice cream here is really flavorful and really creamy and dense. We also got halo halo and it's so good. We asked for no corn. Parking is a struggle but once you get it, you'll be happy you were patient enough to find one.

I came in because I had a coupon meal to pick up and I'm so happy I stubbled across this awesome place! We were immediately greeted by once lady that was very nice and attentive! The location is a bit odd and it doesn't give the image of a quirky ice cream shop that also serves food and has a huge sitting area from the outside but once you step in you hit by a huge selection of ice cream flavors, drinks and hot meals. We got a chocolate iced drink, a chocolate ice cream and churro donut bites. Everything was super good! Not overly sweet which tends to happen with such a place and still very light, airy and flavorful. We enjoyed it so much we also got an empanada and that was also perfectly toasted, full of beef flavor and well seasoned and great size for the price. We can't wait to come back and get serviced by their awesome team and try their funky yet delicious sounding flavors!!

This IS. A chill spot! San Mateo is home to this magical spot. This is definitely a cross, between having an experience on the islands, and also at the same time all of those unique flavors that we've come to expect in Northern California! Maggie, the owner has created a space in place to enjoy dozens of different flavors of ice cream, as well as some non-dairy items. All of them are exceptional! The magical part is that it's a great place to sit with friends, family, or on your own, enjoying the sweet treats, and the space is warm and inviting We graciously were offered different samples to try, and each one was better than the next. I made chocolate and peanut butter girl, and Maggie had the perfect flavor just for me! This homemade gourmet ice cream is perfect for everyone! Seriously, with all the favors to select from, you will easily find two, three, or more flavors that you want to have! Pogi's candy bar craze is an absolute Must! It's filled with everything and then some. The Vietnamese velvet coffee buzz, is that scoop of ice cream that you actually want to add to your morning coffee and give you that extra kick! Rock with you Road, is filled with lots of nuts and marshmallow fluff and it's so yummy! Maggie and Pogi are both just the sweetest! And we can't wait to go back and try even more flavors

My friend and I were looking for a dessert spot after lunch, and I came across this place on Yelp! Upon entering, we were greeted so nicely by the owner and her family. You can tell it's a family-run business, and I find that very wholesome. They don't just have ice cream, they also have food and snacks you can eat as well. They are also working on making their own Italian ice (Mango, Lychee, Cherry, etc) which will be perfect for summer. The owner introduced us to their ice cream and how they make it in-house with the best ingredients. Their flavors were so unique, we had trouble deciding what to order. But luckily, they are very open to samples! I ended up getting the Ferrero Nutella Hazelnut Fantasy and I Love My Honey Very Matcha. Their ice cream flavors also had cute names with some takes on puns. The ice cream is very delicious, dense, and not too sweet which is good! There's plenty of tables to sit at after ordering. It looks like the business just opened a few months ago, so I hope they continue to grow with more customers! I look forward to visiting again to try more flavors & the food

The staff was really helpful introducing us to their menu items! The ice cream was really good, and definitely want to go back and try more things! The extra room to eat was so chill and nice, I could see myself coming back to study too. Great find!

I stopped by on an evening to try the ice cream. Ice cream flavors were interesting. I went for a 3 scoop - perfectly pistachio, purely pecan perfection, baklava bliss royale. All 3 were excellent flavors. This is some of the best ice creams I ever had. I also went for a Fried chicksilog. That was flavorful.

I was craving a sweet treat after my meal and decided to visit this ice cream store. Unfortunately a handful of their flavors were sold out, including their matcha flavor! I believe this is because they make all of their ice cream in-house. I knew what I wanted when I walked in the door and ordered a junior size Golden Cocoa Swirl, which consists of Ghirardelli chocolate and a caramel swirl. So delicious! The worker (a young girl with pink hair) was incredibly sweet and encouraged me to taste other flavors. She informed me that the Will Ube Mine was the most popular as this is a Filipino-owned business! It was such a fragrant vanilla-esque flavor that I was obsessed, it's also vegan and non-dairy based for any lactose intolerant individuals or people with dietary restrictions. I felt like it wouldn't go super well with the chocolate, but I definitely want to visit here once the weather gets warmer to re-order it. I enjoyed visiting this store & will be returning.

It's a cute spot, parking in this part of downtown is easier to find. The ice cream was ok, I got a scoop of the ube and tres leches to go. They have a ton of interesting flavors that are dairy or non dairy. The girls working that day were so nice and helpful. There's a ton of indoor seating so this might be a cool spot to hang out with friends on a summer night.

Newly opened ice cream shop in San Mateo. The best ice cream ever! The Purely Pecan flavor was divine. It had pieces of pecan pie mixed in. The staff were so sweet and allowed us to taste the flavors until we settled on our favorites. The waffle cone was crispy and fresh. They also had a vegan option for a cone. They offer free meditation classes to the community on Sundays at 6pm. There is a table with chairs indoors to dine in.

I visited Chill Spot Rendezvous on a Thursday evening after work for the first time around 6 PM to do a Too Good To Go pickup and found the store front nearly empty with only one other customer in the side room working on their laptop. Whilst the kind staff member, Rose, was preparing my TGTG order she was generous enough to offer sample scoops of their ice cream. Even though I had initially only came in for a quick pickup operation, Rose encouraged me multiple times to try their ice cream, and emphasized that I should try as many as I would like. I sampled over a dozen flavors, many of them were unique with their own mix-ins, some were dairy free, and plenty were combinations not seen in other shops. By sample #2, the quality & flavor of their ice cream had already won me over. I knew I had to order a scoop after finishing my TGTG order, which was their delicious mini Dutch pancakes dusted in cinnamon sugar (8 pc), topped with a scoop of their Traditional Chocolate Ice Cream, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce. It also came with an iced lemon tea & 10% off coupon. It was difficult to decide which flavors to choose after sampling so many that were great, but I ended up getting a double scoop with their Banana Coconut Cream Pie Pleasure & Vietnamese Velvet Coffee. My only constructive feedback would be that some flavors of ice cream had an over-frozen icy texture. They store all their flavors in a small freezer in containers stacked atop one another. This means that some flavors tend to be deeper in the freezer, thus colder, causing some parts of the scoop to be a bit icy. If they manage to fix this issue to get a smooth texture all of the time then the ice cream would be top-notch. I encourage anyone in the area to swing by and support this small business. They have about a dozen or so tables tucked inside, serve coffee, tea, and food as well so maybe it can become a work/study space for some. The hospitality shown by Rose was unmatched and the desserts were great. There are many signs posted inside with all the upcoming events that they host, showing that they care about enriching the local community. I hope that they can become a mainstay in the San Mateo downtown area.

What a great mix of sweet treats, savory bites, and entertainment! Maggie, the owner, created an inviting environment for customers to have a snack, sing karaoke, or watch a movie. The peanut butter, chocolate, pretzel non-dairy ice cream was so yummy! This is a family-friendly option that offers treats and old-fashioned fun for everyone!

Halo halo iced cream (front) and ube iced cream (back)

Fantastic place. Cozy and lowkey. The owner Maggie is incredibly friendly and hardworking. Every time we visit, she comes to check on us and see how we're enjoying our food. The menu is quite extensive, and the iced creams are wonderfully creative! So many delicious blends! I can't even imagine how much work it must take to keep everything running! Nevertheless, she always does her best to provide her customers excellent and novel experiences, and she absolutely succeeds. This place really is one of a kind. I'm so glad I came across Chill Spot.

What a great find. This is the kind of place you'll walk by without knowing it is there. We had the homemade toasted coconut ice cream. It was wonderful. I'll definitely come back. Big space and they seem to serve some interesting hot food like empanadas and lumpia. Great people working explaining the background of their ice cream flavors.

Sitting area. Those rolling chairs might pose a safety hazard. Nice spacious area though.

Silut Bilao #4: There were only 4 of us, so we didn't get the big dish with "Fight" in the name. There was so much here that no one had to fight for their food. I really like the Misua Soup we start with, had a nice chicken flavor and silky noodles. The main platter had so many fun and delicious items. The Crispy Pata was probably my favorite, so crispy and delicious, especially with the various dips. The Longganisa was another highlight with a cross-sectional cut that enabled a lot of surface area to be nicely charred. The Chicharon was another highlight since it both crispy crunchy skin and some softer meat + fat. The Grilled Liempo had the strongest charred grill taste. Everything else was nice too, just too many to enumerate. For dessert the mixed halo halo with ube ice cream was the best. So many great flavors and textures together at once.

Tried and tested. Never fails to impress the first timers we bring here…read more This was another fun dining experience for us with our friends. We got a table of eight one hour before closing time. Our server told us last order was at 6:45 since the cook had to leave early for another gig. They used to close later at night years ago. We had our usual chick-boy combo sisig, grilled liempo, tapa and garlic rice. Our friends embellished our spread with ginataang sitaw at calabasa (beans & squash in coconut milk), bam-i pancit, chicharon bulaklak (ruffle fat) and lechon kawali. Vinegar based sawsawan and Mang Tomas made this feast even better. We all had water because we were binge eating that weekend. Another large party satisfied at Chibogs. Shared a Poncit Bihon, I always said more lemon the better but it was ok? I will try other other noodles dishes next time.

5 stars for the Kare-kare and Bicol Express!…read more The kare-kare had tender, fall-off-the bone oxtail, beautifully cooked veggies in a thick perfectly timplado peanut sauce! Loved the plated presentation too. Colorful greens on top. I've never had Bicol Express so this being my first time trying it, has set the bar high! Loved the veggies, meat and the gata sauce with slight spicy kick. Sarap!! Consider me a fan of Patio Filipino! This will be on our list for a celebratory night out with the family. Salamat po! Parking tip, there is a parking lot in the back.

It's quite pricey, but I think it's got solid quality food. Our servers were polite and the ambiance seemed standard. The patio looked nice, given the name of the restaurant! It was just too windy to be out there. DINNER Shanghai Lumpia- I don't usually like lumpia and I liked it here String beans- maybe my favorite of all the dishes. We wanted veggies and it was pretty good. Came with minced longanisa which was better than I expected Paella- pretty good, came out faster than expected Caldereta- also good but maybe one of the dishes I would skip next time Dinuguan- family favorite, I was indifferent Kare kare- I liked that there were lots of veggies. Not sure if everyone got to the meat first but there wasn't much when it got to me. Also, I prefer a thicker sauce Crispy kare kare- deconstructed kare kare. It was basically crispy pata with veggies on the side and a bowl of kare kare sauce Bangus sisig- watch out for bones! Pork sisig- one of the best pork sisig, I liked the crispy pieces Lengua- a lot of ppl liked it because it was tender but I thought the mushroom sauce was too creamy for me Buko con seta- aka halo halo in a coconut. Cool presentation but the ube ice cream was too sweet and it was challenging to scrape out the coconut meat, no shaved ice All in all a great meal. I generally don't really like Filipino food but I do like it here!

Best airport meal I've ever had!…read more Shared a combo plate with pancit, chicken adobo, beef, and lumpia with their creamy Manila mango drink. Food was good and homey, the meats were tender and flavorful. It also came with a warming side of clear broth with fried pork fat, so yummy.
