I like this place, their food isnt sensational or anything super special, but it is really tasty. Their prices are reasonable so you can have a good lunch or dinner at a reasonable price. Portions are really good as well. I have ordered food from here several times and most of the times I was unable to finish my plate and had to take it to go. Editing my review since Chris C. (Must be an employee) stated that no one has ordered Sweet and sour pork in the last 4hrs and is questioning if I am leaving a review on the correct establishment. Yes my review is for the correct place, China Wok - Discovery Bay. This review is from my visit there the other day, not today. If i could give negative stars i would. This place is terrible. I ordered the sweet and sour pork with chow mein and a side order of wonton soup. The sweet and sour pork was really mushy and tasted as if it was spoiled. The chow mein was extremely greasy and had no vegetables and had a weird cardboard flavor as if they took it out of a box and microwaved it. The wonton soup had a stong fish flavor which was gross . My whole meal was a disappointment. I took 1 bite of each item and tossed it. Also, i had an eggroll, crunchy on the outside and super soggy on the inside. Very disappointed on two accounts; the chow mien was mushy/soggy and tasteless; boneless spare ribbs did not taste fresh and were fatty. But what was really disappointing was that even though I didn't eat my meal (for the reasons previously stated), I still had to pay for it!!! My family and I enjoy eating here. My 2 year old loves the chow mein and boneless spareribs which is the same meal someone else reviewed as being awful so maybe my 2 year old and I have bad taste or something cause we both think it's delicious. Maybe the other reviewer came on an off day? I don't know! So far so good on this place! I love the hot & sour soup and my wife loves the chow mein. We've been there a few times now and each time it was for 'take-out' as the place is very small and cramped so I don't feel it would be a good place for dining, it's set up like a fast-food place so again, not the best for seating and enjoying a dine-in experience but hey, who doesn't love quality take-out food here locally in Discovery Bay? They also offer a delivery service with a minimum of $20 which is fantastic for those dates that you do not feel like going out. During the take out call, Miss repeated my order, stated the price which came to $21.00, as well provided a time frame for pickup. The location is easy to find, clean, and welcoming. Staff was super attentive, and the food was hot and ready (That's what she said). When arriving home - Food was still neatly packed with no leaks, from the ride home. Unfortunately after such a promising build up, it utter disappointment from there. Chow mein looked tasty, but lacked much taste, Fried rice was decent, and for the general tso chicken - The sauce was great but chicken was hard, and had a jerky like texture. We walked in and before we could even say a single word, a woman walked out and yelled that they were no longer taking customers for eating in. She literally yelled at us, with several customers around. She didn't know if we planned on eating there, taking out, or even if we were picking up an order. Decided to try something close to home, didn't want to drive anywhere. Went inside, very pleasant, small but clean. Staff very friendly and the food was Awesome! The Boneless BBQ Pork is out of this world and you get a lot. Portions were perfect and it truly was delicious. A hidden treasure.
