Best place in Tucson for soups/salads/paninis! One of my coworkers introduced me to this place a few months ago and I've been back many times since then. Their order online option is excellent. We order multiple meals and they are always ready to go right when the restaurant opens at 11 am and everything is always correctly made in our order. As far as the food goes: The salad ingredients are fresh and delicious, but my personal favorite item on the menu is the bbq chicken panini. The chicken is amazing and the panini is huge! It's the type of meal where you're not sure you can eat the whole thing when it's brought to your table, but you end up eating the whole thing anyway because it tastes so good. A good place for when I have a hankerin' for a salad, although they are proud of them here. This place is always very clean from front to back. It also is pretty busy during lunch which tells me they do something right. They sell soup and sandwiches but I always get a salad. You would never take your date here, but if you want a chopped salad, it's first rate. Any salad, any dressing, any way you want it, chopped and mixed with dressing, or dressing on the side. I've settled on the Cobb (substitute romaine for iceberg) as my "go to" salad, but have also tried -- when I thought I was starving -- the Mac and Cheese, and found it too to be excellent. And, we can never resist grabbing a brownie from the counter. These too are excellent. BUT ... parking lot is packed during lunch and many, many, take orders are the norm. This review is a follow-up to a previous review regarding this restaurant. My previous experience here had not been positive. However I am so glad to be able to report my last visit was great. I entered the facility and was actually greeted with at least a hello. The cashier was very pleasant (her name was Alexia) and she actually seemed to enjoy being there. My order came back in a timely manner and the cashier who called my name for the order actually handed the bag to me and thanked me for my order. You have no idea how much these small details mean to me. Customer service is at an all time low these days and when I see it any place I am simply overjoyed! Let me start off by saying I was Super Disappointed in this place. I've been want s to try this place for awhile. I got the Mediterranean Salad, very few cucumbers and half of the cucumbers that were in there were translucent which mean they ether sat around for to long or they got to cold so needless to say they were not crisp. As well as the romaine it was wilted and the stocks on the lettuce were translucent. The only thing that was good in the salad was the 3 Olives, the good amount of Feta, and the over powering amount of sundries tomatoes. Overall a sweet and convenient place to make your own salads, choose one of theirs, and stay in the healthy realm. Walk in and select from their selections or make your own. Be warned: there are plenty of options so it's easy to get overwhelmed. You can choose from your base of greens, any four of the many fixings, and then protein. They give you a hefty portion of everything too. I had the mixed greens with roasted red peppers, onion, kidney beans, almonds, and chicken. I was impressed with how much chicken they gave me. We ordered Cobb salads and two small drinks. The cashier said $30 and I almost said never mind and walked out! $30 is bit much for two salads in my opinion. But the reviews on the business were good so we decided to stay and give it a try. So now on to the salad; it was definitely not your typical looking Cobb salad prepped with all the ingredients on top of fresh greens. The salads looked more like all the ingredients were put into a food processor and mixed. Reminded me more of raisin pudding! Lastly the ranch dressing tasted like milk with nothing added. There was however a lot of salad, fair amounts of meat and avocado; the rest was so chopped up I couldn't make out what it was. The customer service was ok but nothing to write about. I opted to build my own, which was easily done by filling out one of the special cards with all my options. A base salad is $6.99 and includes choice of greens and 5 toppings. I don't like to leave a poor review for a restaurant that everyone else seems to love, but I really don't get the Choice Greens hype. I work near a Choice Greens so I've had their food quite a bit. The first word I would use to describe it is "bland". The flavor is kind of like when you have a cold and can't really taste anything. For salad's I've had their caesar and southwest chicken. The tortilla strips on the southwest had a very odd taste to them that overpowered the salad. Kind of like old fried food. The caesar seemed to have quite a lot of dressing. Just meh. Don't make the mistake of ordering a panini. I got the caprese and definitely regretted it. Dripping with oil all over the plate, your hands, your face, etc. Cheese and tomatos falling out everywhere. No flavor. The mac and cheese is good but very, very rich. I can eat about half of it and then I start feeling a bit ill. I like the tomato soup. No complaints about that. If I have to go to Choice Greens for some reason, that's what I get. Creamy, good flavor, adequate but not overwhelming portion sizing. My last comment is that they don't have coffee. For a place that caters primarily to the lunch crowd, it makes me sad that I can't get a cup of joe here. I also think it's kind of weird. I mean, who doesn't serve coffee? read more

I, like, Elyse, am curious why they changed the name. On that long ago visit I had a sandwich and was obviously not impressed enough to go back... at least for a sandwich. They have prebuilt salad options or you can customize your own salad and, as the previous name suggests,they chop all the ingredients and bring it to your table. After they, of course, put it in a huge bowl.They have some panini and sandwich options as well as mac and cheese, if you want to carb it up. The Asian salad I had hit all the notes...crunchy almond slices, crispy chow mein noodles, broccoli and snow peas for nutrition, sweet mandarin oranges. salty soy based dressing and, of course greens. The added chicken ($2) was kind of dry and tasteless , but the mixture of all the other ingredients kind of counterbalanced that. I really enjoyed the salad, but did not care for the dry hunk of focaccia they served with the salad. That was desperately in need of butter... but maybe that defeats the purpose of eating a salad. I teetered between 3 and 4 stars, so consider this a 3.5. The more than $9 price tag for a salad was little hefty, so I am not likely to do a swift U-turn on Speedway to hit up Choice Greens, but when I am in the mood for a salad (probably a couple of years from now) I know where to go. read more

When you walk in there is a bucket with sheets of paper to create your own salad and a separate premade salad menu as well as some sandwiches. The concept is great but not novel. Having a make your own salad bar is nice but this is limited to four items and a dressing and any additional item can make the cost up to $10 for a salad! That's as much as the salad on campus at core. The salad itself was tasty and fresh but not filling whatsoever. If I'm paying double digits for a meal salad I expect a meal. Bread costs extra as well. The salad dressing options are various and I decided to get their house made apple vinigarette. The flavor was bold and sweet over my organic mixed greens I chose to pair with pepperocini, sunflower seeds, cranberries and apples. The addition of a protein would have cost more than a dollar so I opted out. Another topping that costs more is avocado ughh, as usual. Overall the salad is nice but not worth.
