I visited last night with a large group from work. They were very accommodating to our oversized party and had our table set right away. Even though only four of us arrived at first they were willing to seat and serve us with an incomplete party. Servers immediately started bringing out delicious small bites like pickles, some kind of potato salad, and bean sprouts. Once our entire party arrived they were quick to get food orders in and then came back around for drink orders. All of the meats we tried were delicious. The sake was light and refreshing. The miso soup was very unique compared to my usual experience with basic miso soup. It was a bit spicy and had zucchini and beans! I also really appreciated that our grills were swapped out for clean grills regularly. Overall a great experience, I do wish the table had been cleared a bit more often because it got quite crowded but overall a really fun experience and if I lived in the area I would for sure be back! read more

We didn't make dinner reservations New Years Eve because we were in the area traveling for work. Only a couple of places had last minute openings, including Chris's Korean BBQ. What's great about Chris's is that you can feed an army relatively inexpensively with their pre-set family meals that in addition to a variety of meat, also include soups, sides, and a bunch of other things. The "serves 2-3" or "4-5" is absolutely incorrect, though, unless the unit is a hungry football player. We were 4 people and ordered the set for 4-5. It was easily enough food to comfortably feed at least 7-8 people in our opinion. The service here is great as well. What's less than great is that Chris's is NOT very authentic. The taste of many of the Korean dishes was just okay. It's clear the focus is placed primarily on the meat here, which is fine, but it's too bad that people will have japchae here and think this is what it's supposed to taste like. If you want a more authentic experience, go to Baekjeong in nearby Temple City. On the other hand, if you just want to feed a hungry family without breaking the bank, Chris's is the place to go. read more

I was craving Korean BBQ and was passing Pasadena so decided to give this a try. The service was great! Everyone collaborated to help get ordered in. The portions were so much more than I expected! The cool thing about the family meal is that you can take your leftovers, which was good because we clearly over ordered for 2 people! The kimchi was a 10/10 probably the best I've had in SoCal. The meats were packed with flavor that had me doing the happy dance! This is for sure going to be one of my KBBQ spots moving forward! read more

My first time here and the service here sucked, we were greeted by our server not sure if his name is Tucayo, but after that he paid no attention to our table. He took our first order of meats but did not bother to turn on the grill. He kept trying to flag him down and kept avoiding eye contact with our table. About 15 minutes later one of the bussers was clearing a table behind us and we got his attention. He turned on the grill for us. However, the gas container was really low on fuel, so hardly any flame was burning, got that fixed by someone else. When we wanted to order another round of meet, we had to flag another server to take our second order. It was becoming frustrating that we had to reach out to someone who wasn't our server to help take our order. While seeing that our server was attentive with one table between the five outside. Other guests were complaining about the same server not stopping by their table as well. Over I could say that the food was good, but not worth the poor service. If anyone plans on coming here hopefully the service is better than what I experienced. I'm giving the food two stars and the service no stars. read more

I was looking for a Korean bbq restaurant in the Pasadena area to meet up with my friends with since they were staying in the SGV and we were coming from the Valley. We wanted to avoid Ktown because of the traffic on that particular night but still wanted decent, authentic Korean food. Chris Korean BBQ definitely fit the bill! I liked that there were set menus in addition to AYCE. We went with the Family Menu D for 7 of us (4 adults and 3 kids) and it was the perfect amount of food. The meat options included beef, pork, and even chicken and shrimp which was great because one of the kids isn't really into beef. Banchan had a nice variety and were tasty. We did have to order rice paper, radish wraps, and steamed egg separately since they weren't included in the Family set. Service was good. Although they don't cook the meat for you like some other kbbq joints, it was easy to flag someone down when we needed something. I called to make a reservation just in case. It wasn't really needed because they had plenty of room, but I liked that they take reservations. They ask whether you prefer to sit outside in the patio or inside. We opted for inside. Parking was easy to find on the side street. They do have a small lot but it fills up quickly. read more

Chris KBBQ is in a little corner of Pasadena that demands recognition. Decided to try this KBBQ spot with my friends after deciding that Gen was too repetitive. Arrived and was seated away quickly, great, attentive service from the waiter/waitress. Decided to order the smallest combo, which is priced around $33 per person for lunch. Despite this being a small combo, you get generous helpings of egg soup, scallion pancakes (personal favorite), brisket, pork belly, and bulgogi. All of these main pieces are everything you could want in a classic KBBQ. Portions are big and family style, I encourage inviting friends and family to help you finish all the meat !! The quality of the meat is savory and juicy, and you can tell there was a lot of preparation for these meats. Highly recommend getting sauces for the meat, and to probably hold off on the bulgogi until the end, since it takes longer to cook and has a tangy sauce. I'd say that Chris KBBQ is well worth the price, and is a fantastic spot for hangouts with friends or a late night craving. However, as a college student, this location is something I can't go as often, but that's just because of price and inflation. You'll see me at Gen when I'm on a budget, and Chris KBBQ when I want fantastic and authentic KBBQ with wonderful service and delicious portion sizes. read more

An extraordinary value and experience. Growing up eating at AYCE KBBQ, I felt spoiled by the quality and affordability of these meals in the local SoCal area. Places like Gen and Ookook have long dominated the non-KTOWN AYCE scene. However, Chris is not only every bit as affordable as its larger competitors but holds superior quality and taste. The marbling on the brisket, by in itself, is comparable to much more expensive, al carte restaurants nearby, and other staples like the pork belly are extremely on point. Lunch specials are a real deal which are served in good portion. They have 3 different choices (lunch set, classic and premium). The restaurant is not cheap on Korean side dishes as they give a good amount. Servers are really friendly and attentive too. Our favourite server is Dana. I really hate to give out such a terrible rating but either the management doesn't take care of their staff or they've just hired really terrible people. It felt like the place might have been understaffed. Came around 8pm on a Monday. There were a few tables but most were finishing up. It took them forever to bring out our meats after we ordered... not really sure why. I would have much preferred they come out one at a time if it meant that we could get it faster... felt like it was ten mins before we started cooking. servers then disappeared... no check in to see if we needed sesame oil. not once did they offer refills of banchan. almost all the banchan was extremely sweet. who puts sugar into cucumber kimchi???? fish cakes... potato salad... mac salad. everything was sweet. all the sauces... 3/4 of the sauces / dips were sweet. the first time they asked if we wanted to order more meat, they said it was last call. what? We were never offered a grill change... nothing. It just felt pretty dead inside. some flies here and there. noticed that the back door was propped open the entire time we were there. just overall felt like a terrible experience. for $45, I'd rather go out to Hacienda Heights for Thirsty Cow. I've always liked the food from Chris Korean BBQ -- overall, it tastes good, and I used to order from them on Uber Eats pretty often. In the beginning, each order consistently came with salad, banchan, and rice. Like most Korean restaurants in LA, one set usually comes with one salad and banchan, so I expected the same here. But after ordering a few more times, things became inconsistent. Sometimes they forgot the salad completely, and other times I ordered multiple sets (like three meals) and only received one salad. I let it go because I told myself maybe the salad and banchan were considered "extras," so I didn't complain. However, what really frustrated me was the sudden and unreasonable price increase. For example, I used to order the Salmon Plate regularly -- it was $31.00 for two pieces. Last week, the price suddenly jumped to $40.24. That's almost a $10 increase with no warning, and other items on the menu also went up in a similar way. The food is still good, but the inconsistent sides and the drastic price hikes make it hard to justify ordering anymore. Service and food are great. Quality of meat is lovely. Sang galbi was wonderfully marbled and our favorite on the menu. Meat portions are large; it's nice they let you do half orders. My cousin came from New Mexico and was staying in Pasdena and wanted kbbq so we decided to stay local and eat here. The place is small but they also had a big outside patio. We ordered the premium AYCE. Started with the brisket, beef belly and the non marinated karbi which were not too shabby. Also ate some rib eye. They served about 5 basic ban chans which were nothing special but the soy bean paste soup was really good. It was nice trying this place but the OG korean kbbq is in Ktown. Service was also very attentive and I think we were the only Koreans there. Lol read more

To celebrate Chinese New Year, we dined at this AYCE Korean restaurant, which was remarkably great! The cuts of meat were nice and fresh and the ban chan selections were delicious. Our group of eight enjoyed cooking the meats while I entertained my grandson, who had not yet napped yet. The service was outstanding with food coming within minutes of ordering our meats, and had all the traditional sides flowing continuously. I came here on a Friday night around 5 PM with my husband and kids. We were able to be seated right away. The meats were pretty good. The sides were so delicious. One of the top places that serve really good kimchi. The staff was really nice and took care of us and answered all the questions we had. By 6 o'clock it got super busy. They also have a small parking lot in the rear. Indoor and outdoor option available. Service was good. Staff was friendly. Servers were quick and took our orders accurately by memory (still very impressed). The meal quality is decent here for the price. We went for the AYCE Classic per person at $36.99. Discounted price for kids 5-10 and seniors available. We still continue to enjoy the Ju Mu Luk Galbi, Pork Jowl, and Boneless Ribeye Steak. Can't go wrong with Brisket or Beef Belly either. We get 1 pancake per grill, so with a party of 8, we shared 2 grills and got 2 pancakes. Pancakes are good. Side dishes were pretty good. Sadly they ran out of rice paper so we only got 1 order. We ordered the ribeye , brisket , marinated Galbi to start. Was not expecting an ENTIRE steak ! Don't worry we still ordered more , idk how we did it but we did . All the meats were tender and tasty . Highly recommend coming here and trying it out . I THINK my favorite meat was all the Galbis . You already know this place is going to be good when all of their sides smack! They even have a Korean pancake for a side! This place was really good. The host and servers were super nice. It was really busy so some of our food came a little slow, such as the pancake, the steamed eggs, The sake came out piping hot. I docked a star because they gave us a dirty cup. They even ran out of water cups and gave a plastic cup for the time being. There was a lot of juice left on the radish wraps that it was spilling all over the table. Other than that, meat was great. Beef belly is amazing. They have one single bathroom for males and one single bathroom for females. They have seating inside and outside. They have a small lot in the back, but it's really small. Be prepared to park on the street. There is an Ace lot across the street from their lot though. I would definitely come here again and recommend this place to anyone looking for a great all you can eat kbbq spot! read more

Often times, I go to Koreatown for KBBQ because the quality is better and prices are usually around the same if not cheaper. However, this is my parents' go-to KBBQ spot as it is closer to where we live, avoiding an extra 20-50 minutes of driving to K-town depending on traffic. There is a lot more space at this restaurant comparatively, and parking is a small dedicated parking lot or plenty of street parking if the lot is full. On a Saturday dinner, most of the tables are occupied around 5:30pm when we went, but we just only needed to wait for the table to be set up. This is an AYCE place, where the standard AYCE is $36.99, which is a fair price for the selection. Of course, they serve banchan, and they do have fish cake which is one of my favorite side dishes. We mostly got the beef - brisket, galbi, bulgogi, beef belly, ju mu luk galbi, and skirt steak, to name a few. We also got some sides like the steamed egg and green onion salad, both of which complement well with the food. The food quality here is good but could be better. The brisket and bulgogi are fairly solid, and you cannot really go wrong with those in general. However, the -1 star is because the skirt steak and the ju mu luk galbi were very tough, so the cuts were not that great. The ju mu luk galbi is passable if you want something steak-like, but definitely skip on the skirt steak as that was bad. Service is okay and up to standard. All requests for each round were 100% fulfilled and the server was able to note all of those in memory. The only slight issue, which is not a big deal, is that there was a 20 minute window where there was no service, so we almost had to sit empty-handed with a burnt grill but the server swiftly came back to fulfill our large number of orders thereafter with no issues. read more
