Tried this place for the first time today. We had our dog with us so we did outdoor seating. All tables are sanitized between customers and spaces apart. We ordered eggs Benedict and crepes. Service was very quick and friendly. The crepes were delicious! I ordered strawberry filled crepes that come with whipped cream and a side order of ice cream - I love ice cream with my crepes. The crepes were so delicious. My family ordered eggs Benedict which were a very good portion and came with hashbrowns. I would definitely recommend this spot for breakfast or lunch. Had a really pleasant lunch here right after my workout! The atmosphere in the restaurant was very homey and like that of an old-fashioned busy diner. The waitstaff were very nice and accommodating and did not hesitate to refill my coffee and fetch me utensils. The menu was very extensive and consists of breakfast, brunch, and lunch items. I ordered the Mr. O'Malley's Benedict with hash browns and the portions were huge! The food was delicious too--it came out steaming hot and fresh! Got here around 10:40am and was told it was going to be a 20-25 min wait. Unfortunately, we ended up waiting 40 minutes :( The staff and the food made up for the wait. The staff was friendly and attentive! Our party of four tried the Louisiana skillet, the garden crepe, the breakfast crepe, and the chicken and waffles. On a recent Saturday Morning, I drove all the way down to Burlingame to have my Subaru Forester services. This is where I had purchased the car, and right now it's worth it to "go the distance" as opposed to doing any business with my closest dealer (Walnut Creek Subaru). The car would be in the shop for a couple hours, so I had time to walk the streets of Burlingame and maybe catch a bit of breakfast. I passed Christie's on the way out and after walking to the end of the downtown district, I decided to return. I was immediately greeted and opted to take a seat at the counter. Christie's was nearly full and I loved watching a diverse representation of the community happily enjoying their morning. My seat also gave me the opportunity to watch the cooks in the kitchen and listen in on waitress conversations. It was all very enjoyable. The food was a little slow coming out, but at least they made sure that my coffee cup remained full while I waited. Once the food arrived, the portions were generous, the scramble combination was delicious, and after I was finished I went out for another long walk. Although the portions are huge, Christie's leaves a lot to be desired. No wait (pro or con?) and we were seated immediately. Although the menu was extensive, there are very limited healthy options. I settled on two eggs, bacon, and hash browns. The hash browns were good, the eggs subpar, and the bacon was awful. We had quite a few snafus with the service as well (spilling coffee, spilling water, waiting 15 minutes to take our credit card, giving us back the wrong credit card). Overall, we didn't have a great experience here. Although the bottomless coffee is a nice touch, I would recommend going elsewhere for breakfast. Also, how can bacon taste bad? read more

I'm so sad to write this, but I have to tell you guys that I had a really bad time there and It was my first time. I've been working as server for 10 years, so I'm pretty sure about customer service. Today our server was Tatiana, and It wasn't friendly at all. I know, she's been working for decades there, so I don't understand why she doesn't know about customer service yet. When she came to the table she didn't greet us, I asked her about recommendations just pointed on the menu on scrambles and something else. I was surprised how rude she was to us then she didn't have time to explain me your popular dishes, it was not customer service at all. My boyfriend asked her about pecan waffle if it comes with whipped cream and she answered him well what do you want, so she didn't answered what he asked for. Really cute joint not far from a cute down town area. (Walking distance) food was reasonably priced for LARGE portions. I got the breakfast burrito and it was HUGE! Really tasty. The only down fall was the amounted salsa they put on the burrito made it soggy. The Salsa has a little kick to it! Delicious. My boyfriend got the pancake combo- standard! First time here and had always wanted to try this place out for awhile. Sadly, we are disappointed. I think this place has too much hype. We came in a little before 12 noon for brunch. They took my name and told me it would be a 20 minute wait which is average. They ended up calling us to be seated after 10 minutes of waiting. Which was impressive. After being seated our server asked us what we would like for beverages. I ordered a coffee, my son ordered a chocolate milkshake, and my husband ordered an orange juice. After serving our beverages our server took our order. We waited about 40 minutes for our food, and my husband never got is orange juice. The only two good things I can say about our order was the food came hot and it was good. The disappointing part is the wait for the order of our food. It should not take 40+ minutes for food to be served. Our server never told us update with our order as we were patiently waiting. After we were done we got our bill and noticed we were charged for the orange juice that was never served. We mentioned it to the cashier and he gladly made the adjustment to our bill. I really dislike giving unsatisfactory reviews on places that I've been looking forward to try out for a long time to end up being disappointed. The other thing we noticed while we were waiting for our food to arrive was there seemed to be a very long wait for the restrooms. As the line for the restrooms was growing right next to our table. Our server (not sure her name) but at first she seemed pretty good but later on she was very short with us. I will give her the benefit of the doubt because it may have to do with her orders not being ready in a timely manner for her customers. You get the picture. Most places I frequent know me and deal with my menu ordering complexities pretty well. Christies not only does this for me, but just about everyone who walks in the front door. There are lots of good breakfast places around the Bay Area and Christies is right at the top and it's their service that sets it apart from the rest. Every server here is a superstar. All of them are efficient and friendly and are among the best staff you will find. If you are having trouble trying to decide on what to order they love to offer suggestions and often times will even help you create a concoction that may not even be on the menu. Speaking of the menu, there is so much to choose from that you can keep coming back here for years and not order the same thing twice. Christies has everything from fried chicken to egg dishes to the perfect house made oatmeal. The burgers are cooked to order and are better than many of the new artisan burger places that have recently popped up. You feel like a malt or a shake? They have them? The great thing about going out for breakfast on weekday is that I don't have to worry about the crowds like I do on weekends. On this rare occasion, the kids didn't have any school, and the wife and I were off from work. I've wanted to try this place out for many years, and now I've got the chance. Eggs were fluffy and not dry. -Kids chicken tenders and fries. Came with ranch dressing for dipping. I guess the chicken was good, my oldest daughter finished it, then enjoyed the French fries. -2 hot chocolates. Kids loved it, especially with the whip cream piled high (see photo, what's left of the whipped cream) -Bowl of soup of the day. It was beef barley. Very hearty and savory soup. Full of veggies, barley, and beef. -Chicken Fried Steak, scrambled eggs, hash browns, sourdough toast (see photo). Good sized piece of chicken fried steak, tender, not dry or salty. Gravy was nice and hot without being too lardy. 2 scrambled eggs, but gave them to my daughter. Generous serving of hash browns, crispy on the outside, soft on inside, just the way I like it. Sourdough toast came buttered, and I used them to scoop up the plate. Yeah!! Overall, very good portions of food, without being insanely large, and prepared well. I like that this place serves breakfast all day. Didn't get the pancakes this time, but I will the next time. I can't really say this place is better or worse than Nini's, Stack's, Alana's, Copenhagen, or Bay Watch, but like these places, it's a good solid place for breakfast or lunch. read more

In my one visit, I noticed numerous patrons were familiar with one another ("Hey, Joe, I ran into your grandkid 'bout two weeks back!") & with their waitresses ("Hey, Martin, your usual's comin' right up!") All good & fine, but between eggs bendict (running hollandaise), a couple make your own omelets (overcooked eggs) & a waffles with strawberries, there was not one dish the fam bam & I could get excited about. A quality control check needs to be implemented before sending dishes out for human consumption.
