I had breakfast here around 11am on a Tuesday. 5 stars for friendly waitresses and being dog friendly. They brought out a water bowl for my dog and gave him a free dog treat. 5 stars for food. Great menu selection. I tried the Breakfast special: pancakes, sausage, eggs, and a side of hash browns. It was yummy. Good flavor and freshly cooked with good ingredients. Came here for brunch with some family. The restaurant is quite small and was pretty busy. Thankfully the wait wasn't super long and the people working there were very nice! I ordered the chicken friend steak that came with eggs, hash browns although I ordered country potatoes and toast. I'm particular about chicken fried steak because I've had quite a few of them that weren't so great. I have to say this isn't the best I've had but it was pretty good. I would definitely recommend ordering this! The eggs were so fluffy (best I've had in a long time) and the hash browns were normal hash browns. Food came out pretty quickly so it was nice since we were hungry. Parking is street parking but it wasn't too hard to find a spot. read more

Mmm mmm Fried, bits of skinny potato. What's not to love? Matt loves corned beef hash. He especially likes it extra crispy like this. More bits of potato in ground beef. I also had the Greek scramble which is common out here. A lot of old school diners were started and were owned by Greek immigrants in the past. I came early at Christie's and they were already packed. Service was quick. I was greeted as soon as I came in. My nice waitress took my order. She was also very attentive with refilling my coffee and water. She was fantastic. While my corned beef hash was a bit mushy and watery, and my homemade fries was a bit greasy, my two eggs over easy however, came out perfect. The day I came in for breakfast it was filled with retired customers having great conversations. I think this was the best time I had here, seeing all of the retired patrons enjoying great company especially in today's tech world where one often sees a mobile device on the table, and very little conversations being said. I live in the neighborhood and my original review was written in 2009. The quality of food and service has declined since then. Still, I know things change but the what really got me recently was the way I was treated by the staff. We went to pick up an order and were essentially scolded by the lady at the front when my relative asked me to check that we had the syrup, etc. for our breakfast items. This is something he does regularly when we go out for brunch (my favorite meal of the day!) but the lady took it upon herself to point at the sign saying that we must ask for condiments, utensils when ordering. Apparently, she did not know that we asked for the condiments, syrup, etc. over the phone already. No matter where we go, I specifically do this when we order (yes, I'm detailed oriented) and it was their staff's fault for leaving items. Which I can understand can happen on busy days. Most places would just apologize and give us the items. But instead, we got a mini-lecture. I will no longer be visiting Christie's. There are many other breakfast places nearby with polite service: Stacks (up a block), Apple Fritter, Caffe Central, Crepe Vine, Alana's, Millbrae Pancake House, etc. read more

I started with the California benedict, a take on eggs benedict made with turkey and avocado slices on an English muffin, along with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. There wasn't anything particularly exceptional about this dish, but I also tried the pancakes, which were hot, fresh, and fluffy with a distinct buttermilk flavor--how delicious! The lightning speed at which our food came out and the fair menu prices are definitely pluses here, but the service felt rather transactional and lacked some of the warm hospitality you might find in other similar restaurants. Had a terrible experience with their manager or owner over brunch. Mainly due to how this person kept pestering us to leave after we cleared our check. Her words were verbatim "finish your conversation at home, I have other people waiting for a seat". This was after a few instances of her stopping by our table earlier to ensure we placed our food orders on time. What's funny is that our actual waiter already took our order down separately in a timely manner. We were made to feel (quite rudely) as though we were on the clock. We were in and out in ~30 min, and are probably not going back IN for a while. Granted this was on a reasonably busy day but there are better, more professional ways to ensure smooth throughput at a restaurant. For those who enjoy a chance to choose from a variety of dishes, Christies is the place to go! Their menu is well designed to cater to different tastes and the service is great! This is not a chain or exclusive restaurant. The food is served hot and not made till you order it. Their pancakes are probably one of the best I've had! Very fluffy with a slightly sweet taste. They are also very filling so if you're going to eat 3, that's probably all you'll get to eat. LOL! The Krabby Kake was delicious with crab patties (made with real crab!) served in an Egg Benedict fashion with hollandaise sauce over the egg and patty. The accompanying hash browns were delicious and made from scratch. My wife had the omelet and was only able to finish half because of the generous portions they serve. We were seated promptly and they have tables both inside and outside the restaurant. The orders were taken and food arrived hot and steaming. This is a good down-to-Earth restaurant with great service and great food. They not only serve a great breakfast but also do lunch and dinner as well. Had breakfast here recently on a weekday with a friend. We met at 9:00, so parking was not a problem. The hash browns were great and so were the pancakes. The omelette and the sausage egg scramble were decent - nothing to complain about, but nothing spectacular. The side order of fruit was generously sized with plenty of strawberries, apple, melon, and banana. I have been here a handful of times, each visit I was excited and hoped for a good experience. Unfortunately consistently encountered rude servers. Asking for anything at all, the servers snap at ya. Even though it was super busy the found seating for our table of 5. We were having a business brunch. Server was super efficient and brought a constant round of coffee. The portions are huge. The hashbrowns were crispy without having to ask for it. The bacon is thick and crunchy. The gravy needs a touch more pepper for this boy but overall top marks. I commented when we are finished. She then proceeded to harass us further less then 5 minutes later telling us to hurry up and drink up there were others waiting. I have never ran into this before and was very disappointed in how we were treated. I have no idea why she did this and why she just pointed us at amongst everyone there. She thought we were there over two hours and we had only been there for hour and 20 minutes. We are elderly, we like to eat slower, enjoy talking and catching up. Visited this spot when on vacation in SF and stayed in Burlingame. Great menu options from omelets to crepes, and offers breakfast all day as well. Wife and I enjoyed our meal. Quick service and always made sure our coffee and waters were always topped off. My wife got a waffle, eggs, and bacon, and I got the Christie's skillet, which was very good and filling! Perfect little breakfast spot. I came here looking for breakfast redemption after a week of work sponsored 'breakfast' (bagels, dry scones, out of season rock hard fruit... you get the jest).
