Food is okay, but they kicked us out 10 minutes after they closed. I work in the business, and typically, you are still cleaning up and can allow at least 30 to 45 minutes after closing time. I've never been asked to leave in my entire life, especially after only 10 minutes. If you seat people close to closing time you should absolutely let them know that you close on the dot. It's located right off of Burlingame Avenue on California which is really convenient for when you put your name down on the wait list so you can walk around. The food is good when you want that greasy, carb-laden American food but the poor service is inexcusable. You can get your fix of eggs and potatoes elsewhere. No need to ruin your day or support bad behavior by going to this place. As you can see from other reviewers, there is an older waitress/owner that is extremely bossy and just plain rude. If you get her, good luck. It is a toss up whether she will be nice or rude to you so it's your choice whether you want to take a gamble at screwing up your day. Life is too short to deal with this BS sometimes. The younger servers are nicer for the most part but it is not enough to offset the crappy attitude from the older staff. The restaurant is extremely loud and will not be accommodating to people regardless of age, disability or ethnicity. Don't expect to have a nice brunch here with your date whether it be your parents, grandparents, friends, significant other or crush. They just want your money and to turn the tables as fast as possible. What kind of hostess/waitress/server says "why aren't you listening to me?" when my sister was simply trying to clarify an error on your menu. What a bitter response. If you treat customers like that, it is obvious you are so burnt out that it is time to leave or retire. If you can't retire due to monetary reasons, then you gotta re-evaluate your business model and/or expenses. If you can't retire due to family issues, then maybe it is time for a vacation and/or time to question what the F you did to get you in this predicament. The source of your problems may be because of your shitty attitude towards others. There is no need to support this "mom and pop" restaurant because they are not hurting. There are other restaurants and shops in the surrounding area that have better service. New ones open daily and I am sure they would happily absorb all the nice, hardworking staff once this place is defunct. Today at Christie's I had a wonderful experience. While working across the street from them you can smell the wonderful aroma coming from the establishment. I've tried the hot link sand which before and it was delicious, today I tried the fried chicken and waffles. It came with 4 crispy pieces of chicken that were well seasoned and perfectly cooked, the waffle was light and airy on the inside while also being golden brown and crispy on the outside. Went to Christie's instead of Stacks (down one block) because I was in the mood for hash browns. Stacks only serves home fries. Can't go wrong with country fried steak, 2 eggs over medium, hash browns extra crispy, with sourdough toast. Both my coworkers ordered omelettes. Staying near the airport for the weekend and I was searching for a good flavorful and fulfilling late breakfast. This diner was cute and clean and the staff was very welcoming. This meal I purchased was so delicious and flavorful. First time here this morning, and damn it if isn't one of the better places in Burlingame for a solid breakfast. I'm a complete sucker for an old fashioned diner, where they serve only breakfasts and lunches, close early afternoons, and it's a no frills sorta place, where they don't pretend to be anything other than what it is. I also have all these little peeves, e.g. I think hash browns should be the only type of potato that comes with eggs--not those lazy ass "home fries," I mean those stupid diced up little things ... hash browns are those heavenly SHREDDED potatoes and fired to crispy golden brown, which is exactly what Christie's does. I hadn't eaten corned beef hash and yes ... wait for it, with more hash in the form of potatoes and with poached eggs, add some toast with marmalade and we also got pancakes. OMG, those pancakes are absolutely everything: moist and fluffy, with actual texture, begging for syrup or in the European tradition ,maybe just some sugar and lemon on top. Their eggs were perfection, with the yolk oozing out at exactly the right time, and the corned beef crispy on the edges with a toasty sort of flavor, and not gamey at all. I could wax rhapsodically and go on and on, but truly, nuff said that this place is the real deal. I was so excited about the food, and the aroma when it came that I totally forgot to take photos of the food! But we'll definitely be going back, and when we do, they'll be food photos forthcoming. The service here is outstanding--no phoning it in, everyone was super sweet, e.g. our server was Cassie, so incredibly kind and curious about our experience. This is an incredibly hard job, and she was personable, e.g. when we were torn between the French toast and the pancakes, she steered us toward the latter, and rightly so. So so so kind and genuine. The women who seated us, I wish I'd gotten her name, because we exchanged not just formalities and niceties, but she went out of her way to speak up, because I'm hard of hearing. The place is spotless and clean. I am incredibly excited to go back, I mean, they have tuna salad sandwich, which is one of my all time favorites. I really like the food here, we've been coming here quite a bit. However, this morning we went for a friend's birthday, and everything was going well until one of the sisters took our order (it's a family owned business, mostly women). She was snippy about any modifications we wanted to make, to start. Then, when the food came, I mentioned that we still had fruit and toast coming and she said "don't even start, we're not done serving your table." A better response would have been "I got you, no worries!" or some other polite response. My friend said that she's always like this, and I'm like how is this good for business? She needs a talking to from her family, or they should send her home until she can come back and treat her paying customers politely. read more

We've been here in the past before, loved it. Wondering if it's our timing this time around(got there by 10am on Sunday), they have limited seatings for parties of 4+. They quoted us 20-30 min wait but we waited over an hour just to be seated. Another 15-20 min wait for the food. The food indeed was good but the wait will deter us from coming back esp when little toddlers involved. This place has good food but is more ideal for parties of 2, or parties without little kids. While waiting for a dentist appointment, I decided a breakfast was in order, so I found Christie's and got a seat at the bar. The restaurant itself is very diner-ish, and the waitress knew a lot of the people by name, which gave it kind of an old school, local feel. The inside is clean and decorated nice, it's not trendy or expensive looking but at the same time it looks like a place almost anyone would be comfortable in, and I assume kids couldn't cause too much of a problem. The menu is pretty extensive, but since I'm a sucker for hollandaise I went with coffee and Mr. O'Malley's Benedict, which replaces the traditional Canadian bacon with corned beef hash. I'm not 100% sure but I have a feeling the hash wasn't made in-house, as it was a bit mushy and flavorless. But with an egg, hollandaise, and plenty of pepper on top, it ended up being pretty good. Of course the hollandaise doesn't compare to homemade, but it was fine for a restaurant. I also have to commend the quantity of perfectly cooked hash browns Christie's gives you, I was very happy to see such a large amount with a very high crispy surface to cooked interior ratio. During my meal, the waitress was nice enough to not only fill my coffee cup several times, but also to ask if I needed water. Overall I liked the charming, small town feel of Christie's. It's very nostalgic (or I guess fake nostalgic since I'm not that old) to see a place where there are lots of local regulars who are known to the whole staff. The food isn't gourmet, but it's served quickly and with care and I get the feeling it's the type of place where if you came in a few times, the staff would remember you.
