This place has been here since I can remember! The atmosphere is definitely on the geriatric side, but that's because it's great comfort food at a relatively reasonable price. I hope a younger crowd will frequent because it's so great for families. I discovered Chubby's greatness when I happened to order the gyros dinner. It is so freakin' good with wonderful Tzatziki sauce and great Greek dressing for the salad. My husband loves the chicken fried chicken with grandma style green beans and mashed potatoes. Service is always friendly and helpful. My grandsons love the breakfast. We typically order takeout, but eating in is a good option. The owner is Greek and he knows his gyros! Great friendly service, good food, and a delightful restaurant. It has a large hardware store just behind it so it was a great idea for breakfast! It has an established clientele that has been coming to here (and its previous location) for decades. I had the ham and eggs plus grit and pancakes. I also had an iced tea l which was never allowed to get below 50% full before it was refilled. The eggs were fresh and cooked perfectly. The ham grilled just right. The establishment was clean and dirty dishes were rapidly bussed. Absolutely great service. A side note, there is a Pie Case next to the checkout register so you can grab a pie going in or out. Some hardware stores have a hot dog stand in front, this has a really good diner, so I'll be back! read more

Haven't been here in years but recognized some of the servers. Ordered the chicken souvlaki and it did not disappoint--perfectly cooked and seasoned, pita soft and warm but an edge of crisp, Greek salad fresh and home potatoes delicious. Giving two stars due to no service. Servicer took order and I never saw her again. Sat 15 minutes with no water and finally flagged down someone else. Chubby's is a family style place with mostly American food a place you'd see a lot of older people. I ordered the seafood combo came with one piece of catfish one stuffed crab shell 4 shrimps and cole slaw and the best seasoned fries I've had in a long time! My daughter had a BLT and onion rings we both had sweet ice tea. The food was good but didn't care for the shrimps they had cornmeal on them I wish it had been a flour based crust instead. Catfish was excellent I didn't eat the card stuffed shell gave it to my daughter the code she ate I just ate the one piece of catfish a few fries. My daughter said her BLT was good! The place is clean mask are not required our waitress was not wearing one which was cool with me because I had mines on. The service was good and quick and the waitress was attentive. The place is a nice size real roomy they have several locations in and around Dallas that I saw. I would definitely recommend this place oh they have ample parking and plenty of sanitizers if you need some. I went here last Thursday, 11/2/2023, for the first time. I am 82 and I did like it. I ordered their Thursday special lunch and I loved it. I'll be back because the food and service was great! For me, it's a little inconvenient to drive to but the drive will be worth it. This is our new place for breakfast, and y time of day and for chicken fried steak. We have been several times in the last year, and Chubby's has been consistently better than the other well-known diners nearby. Their CFS and cream gravy is better than just about anywhere else around, and the CFS breakfast comes with a lot of sides - I choose 2 biscuits with their side of gravy, hash browns and eggs for 10.99. Today was my first time trying Chubby's and I had no idea what to expect. My friends and I took a leap of faith -- Chubby's signage outside doesn't say what kind of food they have, and we didn't look it up either! The first and biggest thing I noticed about this place when I walked inside was the atmosphere. The interior needs some updating, the restaurant is very quiet, and Chubby's seems to cater to mainly senior citizens. My friends and I looked like the only people in there under 60 years old, besides the hostesses! Being 100% honest (that's what Yelp's for, right?!) I felt like I was having lunch at a nursing home. Not necessarily a bad thing, just different. Moving on, we had a very nice and attentive waitress. Our food was surprisingly really good; Since I felt like this place was like a nursing home, I thought the food would be bland. I was wrong! Everything was delicious and well-seasoned. I had chicken tenders and fries. Their fries were battered, which is my favorite kind of fries. The food was excellent. Since I had been so impressed by how good my meal was, I decided to get a slice of cake from their dessert display up front. I think what I got was something like a strawberry shortcake?! The friendly service was excellent and the atmosphere was old school diner in a hometown way. I ordered the chicken fried chicken with french fries and turnip greens, and it was out.of.sight. The cream gravy was perfect and it worked great on the fries too. The chicken fried chicken was homemade, perfectly fried, juicy, and big enough and good enough for leftovers to take home. We were stuffed but our table ordered a chocolate cream pie and a coconut cream pie to share for dessert. Both pies were fantastic. This really was one of the best meals I have enjoyed while eating out in a while. I am giving four stars because others in our party of seven were less than five-star happy with their food. Someone ordered chicken tenders, which came out dry and overcooked. A couple of others ordered chicken souvlaki which was dry and the leftovers were left behind. The food is tasty if you like it bland. They are so rude here. They have no competition. This place is for old folks. They have no place else to go. I'm old and local so I know what's going on here with the bad attitudes. They got our phone order wrong, out of 4 meals, one was missing and one was wrong. Check your stuff before you leave if you call it in. The food is usually good, if you like it bland, which we do. Sometimes the food is really bad though. Not often, maybe 20% of the time. It was packed with flavor and did not disappoint. While the potatoes looked good, I passed and had fruit. The coffee was good but the service was top notch. Poor customer service. My spouse and I went to Chubby's for breakfast recently. I am disabled and cannot sit in a booth. Upon arrival, I told the hostess that we needed a table, not a booth. Also, we wanted to be seated in our favorite server's section. I'll call her Jane. The hostess led us immediately to a booth and had to be reminded that a table was requested. She apologized of course and quickly found an open table at which we could sit. Our server came to introduce herself. It wasn't Jane. At a nearby table we overheard someone loudly telling the server that in the 10 minutes since being seated, no one had come by to take a drink order. I've eaten at Chubby's a few times now and have to say I'm a fan. First of all the service has always been friendly and efficient. That's important to me because eating out has always been a social experience for me and poor service can really put a damper on things. That aside, the food is what keeps me coming back, especially the chicken fried steak. While perhaps a bit under seasoned, the taste is good and the portion filling. I always get the larger order. Also, a big plus for me is that the crust stays attached to the meat. Add a tasty cream gravy and you've got the perfect combination. Sides were also good. I have the mashed potatoes and turnip greens. The potatoes were fresh, not instant. The waitress also brought a square of cornbread and a yeast roll. My wife had the chicken Parmesan and finished every bite. Supper was so filling that we decided to pass on dessert. Instead we got a individual size coconut cream pie to enjoy at home. Judging from the menu Chubby's has several international items on the menu in addition to comfort food. As tempting as they appear, I'll stick to the CFS. read more

I am shocked to see good reviews...unless you are talking about the food (decent for price) and the waitresses are nice people. But...anyone who comes in contact with the owner, would not have the same opinion. They have a room that I rented 3 months in a row. First month - filled the room and paid over $400 plus a very very general tip. Second month, most of the room and paid over $300 plus again a tip for the nice waitress. This month (vacation month I believe), unfortunately, only one person showed to the seminar. The owner comes out IN FRONT OF MY CLIENT and says to me in these exact words..."you are no longer welcome here". You do this all the time....really! One bad month. So he tells me he needs 12 people so I offer, in front of my client to pay for 12 meals each month....no matter how many people show...what does he say..."No, I am done with you and I don't want you here anymore". The very sweet waitress comes in an feels really bad and says..."It does happen sometimes". Went there for lunch April the 13th. I had my little dog in a little dog bag. They refuse to serve me so much so if I wanted to go order I would have to leave the restaurant order my food they'd bring it to me. I told them every other restaurant allowed my dog in they said sorry I had to leave. I don't think this restaurant likes animals the reason being years ago this place is owned by Greek brothers . One of them had a rent house across from Northwest highway this organization I volunteered for went over there after this lady was found dead on her couch dead on her couch. She was a hoarder with a bunch of cats. The organization sent volunteers out which I was one of them. We removed the cats out of there dead and alive found homes for the ones I could have been saved. We also vetted them spayed and neutered them. Whichever brother told us they would leave a donation for a hard work over if I remember memory right 3 days. Never did so I don't go in there very often due to that fact. Yesterday I thought I would stop in I had my little dog This would be now the third time over about an 18-year period. They refuse to serve me like I said. I was so mad I tried to call to speak to the manager I was on hold for approximately 15-20 minutes. The manager I cannot express enough how rude this woman was then proceeded to hang the phone up on me. She could care less what I had to say. Between the brothers that own this restaurant at least one of them owns it now and the rude manager I will never step foot in this place ever again. I feel they do not like animals. My dog was very well behaved and a dog bag with his little head sticking out minding his own business if he is not welcomed then they will not have my business. Went here with my friend a couple weeks ago. I didn't order food but I ordered dessert. Man, if I tell you that pie was HITTIN' (Good/delicious)!!! This place is a candidate for DDD on Food Network. We've lived in the neighborhood for years, but never went until about a year ago. The wife and I like to go out for Sunday breakfast and got tired of our usual place, so we decided to try Chubby's since it is so close. We loved our breakfast and have been going back ever since. The food is consistently good, the prices are very cheap, and the service is fast and friendly, every time. Now, it does not have great ambience and it caters to, shall we say, an older crowd. But if you are unpretentious and are not biased against places that are unpretentious, this is a jewel in the rough. Caveat: we go mostly for breakfast (the corned beef hash and gyro omelette are really good). We have gone once for dinner and it was ok, passable, but if that had been my only experience I probably would not have returned. Breakfast seems to be the best bet. read more
