The food and service were good. However $50 for break for two is outrageous! Coffee $3.50 x2 for the smallest cup of coffee which was never refilled is way too much. A very small side of salsa $1.50. Maybe .50 but come on. Bill total was $42.40 left $8 tip. Will not go back for food that I can actually make tastier at home. I had 2 scrabbled eggs with ham and potatoes. Husband had basic breakfast eggs bacon toast. Nothing special. We happened to goto Texas Roadhouse for dinner which was cheaper and over twice as much food. Go here if you have money to throw away. The food was just okay. The steak was flat and didn't resemble a typical steak, while the eggs tasted somewhat artificial. The potatoes were alright. It was our first time trying the food here, and unfortunately, it felt like a stereotypical American meal. We probably won't be returning. My very late review of my brunch experience. Went in on a Saturday morning to try out their brunch options. Had heard this was a great burger place, but I wasn't really craving that at the time. There was a little bit of a wait in the beginning, but the venue was a pretty small diner, so it was reasonable. What set it a part from other diners was how attentive and friendly the staff were. They checked in regularly and sat us as soon as a table became available. The breakfast options were reasonably priced and delicious. Overall, the experience was great! The wife and I like to go on day dates at least once a week, she prefers breakfast foods and I prefer the lunch/dinner type options so as you can probably guess we go to places that do brunches often. We have our favorite "usual spots" but I generally like to try new places, or places that we liked, but haven't been to in a while. Today we happened to be in the Roseville area and was going through the options that were near us on yelp. Thats when Chubby's popped up, we haven't been there in at least a decade, I checked the pictures and the reviews real quick and said to myself, Chubby's it is. As we pulled up, the parking lot was full and there were a couple of people waiting outside, thats a good sign but we didn't feel like waiting a long time. The person behind the counter said it would only be about 5-10 mins so we decided to wait, the place was just as I remembered it. Small little 50's themed diner (I used to work at a chubbys back when I was a teenager) the place was full and there was a energy there that made it feel like everyone was in a good mood. After our short wait we were seated, and this is where the service really started to stand out. We both already knew what we were going to get, since we generally look at the menu online to have a good idea of what the options are. And it was only about a min after we sat down that the server asked if we would like anything to drink. We placed our orders and our drink arrived very quickly, while we were talking and having our drinks, the server checked on us and refilled our drinks, even before our food came out (that's pretty rare, and is a sure sign of excellent customer service). for how busy they were, it was amazing that our food was served after about 10 mins of placing our order! The food was amazing, we ordered a side of biscuits and gravy because all the reviews raved about them, and the rave reviews are well deserved. The biscuits were light and fluffy, I prefer a bit more pepper on my gravy, but that is a easy fix and its better for a customer to add more of what they want than to ruin it for other people that prefer it a bit lighter on the seasoning. There is a lot of posts and articles about restaurant's closing, and saying they can no longer afford to stay in business. And like I said earlier, we go out to eat quite a lot (multiple times a week). Some of the places we go to are empty and some of them are busting at the seams with customers, the common denominator with the empty ones vs the full ones is customer service! There are 3 things that I say are important to a restaurant and having people want to eat there. quality of the food - is the food good! We all want to eat good tasting food, and food that gives us satisfaction and leaves us with a good feeling afterwards. Value - This has some variables. Is the price being charged for said food worth the food being served and there is a balance that has to be achieved. Food that is on the more affordable side of things can get away with it not being 100% the best tasting because its a value and expensive food has to above average to also be perceived as a value, (is a $20 burger that much better than a $10 burger? if so then it was worth the extra price if not then it didn't meet the value criteria) Price is never a good indication of food being good or not, we have eaten a lot of really inexpensive foods that were out of this world delicious and have eaten really expensive foods that we could not even finish! And the last thing is the most important thing that will compensate for quality and value. and that is CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! Good customer service is so important, nobody wants to stop eating their meal because they do not have anything left to drink. Nobody wants to wait to eat their meal because half the table had not been served yet and you have to wait another 5-10 mins for the rest of the food to come out. Nobody wants to go to a restaurant where you have to wait to be seated, where you can see empty tables but they have not been cleared for over 10 mins. I don't care if a place is understaffed, if we see empty tables, people should be seated given menus, water, and told that they are really busy and will be back as soon as possible. I don't mind waiting, as long as I am sitting down, and already have some water and a menu. I worked a lot of food service jobs in the past, and understand. Chubbys hit all 3 marks The food was slightly more expensive than some of our normal spots but the quality and taste made it worth that little bit higher price point. You know the food was good that as you are driving away with a full belly you are already thinking about what you are going to order next time. And first and foremost is the customer service, it was worth more that the 5 stars I am able to give. If more restaurants had service like this Chubbys, more of them would still be open and not struggling to stay open. We will be back! read more

My kiddo had just got her vaccine and requested an Ice cream sundae so after 7yrs of living in Roseville and driving by all the time we decided to stop by this diner. The decor is very nostalgic, old cars, pictures of famous people with battered booths that adds to the charm. They were very busy and it took a few mins to be seated but once we sat we ordered and were served promptly. The prices are on the lower side which makes this place even more appealing. I was looking for a new brunch restaurant in Roseville as my boyfriend and I would only go to Four Sisters. I found Chubby's on Yelp and off we went! It's located in a strip mall by Starbucks, so there's plenty of parking. When we arrived on a Sunday afternoon all the booths were taken (which was a good sign), but we were able to sit at the counter. I ordered the Denver omelette and my boyfriend had the chicken fried steak. The Denver omelette was a hefty size and loaded with peppers, onions, ham, and cheese. The chicken fried steak was perfectly cooked as were the eggs. Both plates came with a delicious side of potatoes and toast. Their potatoes are sliced thin and crispy outside, then soft on the inside layers. They spread butter on the toast for you. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted like a traditional diner. It's not as fancy or unique as Four Sisters, but is a good, inexpensive, filling option when you want basic food. I would return and recommend. read more

My mother in law wanted a burger. We were in the area and my husband noticed Chubby's, located in an inside corner plaza. They serve breakfast, lunch & dinner. We checked it out and so glad we did. Decided to try a new breakfast spot with my friend and was pretty disappointed. Place is old diner aesthetic and was nice, walked in and wasn't greeted with a hello or any form of interaction, just blank stares from the workers. Had to look next to the cashier and wrote our names down. We waited for a interaction for 10-15 mins. The cook seen us and said we can sit ourselves in the back. It took awhile to order but it was a older gentlemen who was working the restaurant, so we were really patient with him and he was kind. The food lacked a lot of flavor. I ordered the solider boy and a side of the blueberry pancake and didn't eat the pancake due to the lack of flavor. The English muffin had a lot of butter and wasn't appealing but since I was really hungry I still ate most of my meal. The texture of the food was nice, the potatoes could be more crisper but it was fine enough to eat. The price was nice so can't complain there. Overall I wouldn't recommend. read more

While you'll never have a successful restaurant without good food, you'll never have a GREAT restaurant without GREAT employees. And Chubby's has the best. They take it from just a meal to an experience. They bend over backwards to make you as happy as possible. And they are so sincere in their efforts. You can tell the difference between canned phrases and genuine interest and these folks are the best. And then there's the food. You are truly getting a home cooked meal. The cook adds a lot of personal touches to the classic dishes and its just like going to a friends house. Good food and such a warm and welcoming atmosphere, it doesn't get any better. read more

It is located in Roseville Square near the Starbucks where Trader Joes is. We walk in and we were greeted and seated right away. It is smaller inside than I anticipated. It has that old fashioned feel like Mels Diner. They have daily specials on the white board up front. I was trying to read it from my seat and the owner I assume brought the board over to me and explained each dish. Nice. I did not choose one of those but my friend did and ordered the spinach omelette. I ordered the ultimate omelette. It comes with toast and home potatoes. Our food came very quick... 10 mins? Food was not great but good enough. The portions are smaller (2 egg vs. 3 egg) which is just fine. Prices are good.... less than $10. Our usual breakfast place charges about $14. It would appear that a husband and wife owns the place and they are super nice. The crew is very efficient in getting orders out. Unlike many places, I felt valued as a customer and that they did care if I dined there or not. Overall I say the food is probably a 3 but because of the friendly and efficient staff along with the very reasonable prices, I give them a 4.
