I will say that the churros tasted pretty dry and hard for my liking. I am sure if next time I come in and ask them for a softer and chewier one, they will deliver. Got to try this little cafe today. My daughter loved the Churro Sundae 5 churros, vanilla ice cream, whip-cream and tasty drizzle. My mom really enjoyed the Tinga dish Shredded chicken with seasoned tomato sauce and grilled onions, with a side of black beans and grilled veggies, bell peppers and squash. First, we came here because I love churros. I've been on a weird churro kick lately. We went in and there was a nice gentleman ready to take our order. I proceeded to ask a question regarding their funnel cake as we had read in one of the reviews that it was made with the same batter as the churros (it's not). The man could not understand a word we were saying as he was 1) new and in training and 2) could not speak a word of English. He went to the back to ask for help from another worker who came and helped him answer my question then proceeded to leave. As we were giving our order, the worker once again had to go in the back to ask the other guy. I asked him to not leave this time since I needed to make adjustments to my coffee since I have a milk allergy. The knowledgeable one proceeded to explain (or train) the other guy on what to do and then told me that the other guy would be making our drinks and churros. I said that's fine as long as he knows NOT to add milk and to make sure he adds soy milk because I gave an allergy. He reiterated it to the other guy and said that's the other guy is new and he is on break. I mean seriously? How can you leave a guy who can't speak English or is not fully trained to take orders and complete the orders? Then I watched as the new guy started making our drinks. He was streaming the milk and did not even get the espresso out so he had no idea what he was doing. The experienced guy came and saw and told him to just go make the churros and he proceeded to quickly finish the drinks. We got them and the mocha latte was chunky because the powder wasn't mixed. The vanilla latte had no taste. And to top it off the more experienced guy came over and said he had very little soy milk so can he mix the soy with oat milk. I gave up and just said yes. It was too much. And finally when the churros came out which the experienced guy told us the other guy was making it but must've changed his mind because he went to check on him and the other guy came out and he stayed in the back to finish it off (probably because the new guy doesn't know what to do and he was literally thrown into the fire), it was hard, overcooked and not like some fabulous churros I've been having. Bathroom had no paper towels stocked. This place is a bit of a hot mess. The reason why I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is that the guys were nice. I can't say that they weren't. Just not good at what they do and shouldn't have been in the front or anywhere in this place without better training to make the orders and to deal with customers with proper customer service. read more
