For me, Cilantro was an okay place to get some Mexican food. It definitely looks a bit more fancy than a standard taco place within a mall, and the prices are a little higher to match as well. I do like the overall look and concept of the restaurant, looking modern and feeling a bit more premium. Service was friendly, although it did take several minutes to get food after ordering. The food itself was presented nicely, but the texture and flavor was unmemorable. The flavor combination of the cilantro and onion with the steak and corn tortillas was good -- but it didn't have the extra "wow" factor like extra juicy meat or a delicious sear or combination of spices. Same with the tostada (even with the avocado slice), rice, and beans. Not a bad version, but pretty tame and forgettable. Overall, not a bad place to go if you're looking for a standard set of Mexican favorites. But there are many other fantastic options across Chicagoland.

    Lengua taco and fish taco

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat before my next appointment. Ordered a lengua taco and a fish taco. The lengua taco did not have very many strips of meat in it, but had good flavor. The fish taco was a piece of grilled tilapia and tasted old. I took one bite and threw it away, Service was good at least

I give it a four only because the line goes extremely slow!! If you are looking for fast food, this is not a good option. We stood in line for a good 20-25 minutes. It is similar to other fast food Mexican places. The rice is like traditional Mexican rice, which was delicious! I got the bowl and my husband got tacos. There was absolutely no complaint about the food, it was delicious!!!

This location was a disappointment to me. Located on the 2nd Level in the food court of the Oak Brook Mall. I was the second person in line waiting to place my order. Which at this particular time it was only another person in front of me and the other person at the counter ordering. The cashier took forever just to take one person's order. Just to sum this review up in a nutshell. The customer service is not good and the food is even worse. I place my order to go and before I left I wanted to make sure my order was accurate. My food was cold and the texture and taste wasn't good. I will just stick to driving out to the other location.

Nice spot in the mall with good service. The taco salad was pretty unique and was a good snack. The portions were pretty big and service was relatively fast.

Better than I had anticipated from a food court fast food Mexican place. I was glad when I read on the menu that all things could be made vegetarian. It seemed like they had a pretty good selection too! The line was long and moved a little slow but our food was ready pretty quickly! I got the three tacos dinner which came with beans and rice. The tacos were ok! I think it would be cool if for the vegetarian option they offered some sautéed peppers or something in place of the meat. But I liked the huge avocado slice they had on each taco, was fresh and yummy. The beans and rice were fantastic too, I shared my rice with my sister and she loved it. Just wish there were more salsa options, they only had one green sauce available for me to put on the tacos. Overall a pretty good meal if you're at mall and hungry!

A quick and tasty place to go, whenever exploring around Oak Brook mall, one of the best fast casual places there is. Service is always fast (even though they are constantly busy), food tastes fresh & the place is clean and inviting. Haven't ordered many other things than the Quesadillas (which are a hidden menu item, which they'll make if you ask for them). Overall solid place, have been to a few other Cilantro locations and this stands strong with the others. P.S. this one serves margaritas & other types of alcoholic bottled beer, if you are interested.

Taco salad and taco plate. Tongue and head meat. Sooooo goooood!!!

I loved this place! The taco salad was amazing!!! I got tongue and head meat. Those are the best BTW. I ordered for someone else and they got tacos. I got them tongue and they were skeptical about it, but ended up loving it! I highly recommend this place. The prices are good for the quality and portions. I'll def be back!!

Mmmmm....authentic lengua and tripas tacos, come to papa my little tasty amigos!

There is a reason this counter has the longest lineup at Oakbrook Center. The ingredients are fresh and the food is authentic. The theory here is that ethnic street food should not be 'Americanized' but reflect the real thing. Just look at the list of ingredients which include lengua, tripas, and cabeza. For the gringos out there this would be tongue, tripe, and Beef head. The last time I had those ingredients was at Las Palmares in the Buena Park neighborhood of Chicago. Go try it, you won't be disappointed.

I'm kind of surprised and a little offended that Cilantro has such a low rating! I work right by the Cilantro in Rosemont, so I'm already a huge fan of the food and feel a little too invested in their business. The meat is fresh and authentic (trust me, I'm Hispanic). Not as good as my grandma's, but definitely better than a random taco place. Everything is prepared well and yet it was decently quick. My favorite menu items are the tacos and salads but the menu is far stretching so don't worry, you'll find something amazing! I'm noticing that the common thread here is time. It's so new, though! I think they are still working on some kinks, but will be up and running in no time.. I have faith! When I went, I'd say we waited about 10minutes, not much longer.. in my mind that's an amazing wait time! Added bonus.. you can drink here! I kind of hate the layout of the food court, but it's not cilantro's fault.

Service terrible. Order wrong. Instead of apologizing it was an argument on why it was wrong. Food is mediocre at best.

You have a choice of queso or guac as a starter, both are small. Chips and salsa are also gratis. After that you have a choice of two items from a list of about 8 or 9 items. I had the chicken quesadilla and tostada. Upgrade to add bean and rice for a buck. My colleagues fish taco wasn't worth the extra $2 according to her. I thought everything was fresh and delicious. More lunch than both of us needed, I'd pass on the rice/beans in the future. Service was good. Attentive but everything was her favorite on the menu, not very helpful. Seating in indoors or out. They have TVs for the World Cup and a full bar. Highly recommend for lunch and we will be back.

My server was pretty slow and seemed distracted, sometimes gone for 20 minutes at a time. I basically had to lock eyes with him just to get his attention. He was a younger guy, so hopefully he tightens that up. Also, if someone notes in their reservation that they're bringing a baby and a car seat, it would make more sense to seat them at a booth instead of in the middle of the restaurant, especially when booths are open. Overall, I'd say it was about a 7/10 experience.

I had the Elotes Smashburger and was impressed with the quality of the meat and there was a good amount of all the toppings. The quality of the meat was great along and everything was fresh. The service was pretty quick. I added fries and was pleasantly surprised with the amount I got and the fries were really well seasoned. Only thing that was slightly surprising was when you "make it a combo" to add fries, you still don't get a drink. The prices were a bit steep, but I read online that when you eat at their locations they donate a meal to school kids. We read online that you get complimentary cobbler but it wasn't advertised anywhere, so when we were done eating we asked about it. No fuss about offering it up once we asked. The cobbler of the month was s'mores and it was so good! Once again had great quality and decent sized portion. There are multiple locations and I will definitely be open to going to other locations and trying other menu items again based on this experience.

Food quality has gone downhill, portions are MUCH SMALLER, and they have the balls to up charge for some meats. Management responds to your reviews online, asking you to reach out directly, and you do, and the do NOTHING. It could have been avoided, but they don't seem to care now, it's all about making $$$, don't care about product quality, portion and most importantly YOU, the customer.
