Used to like this place. Went in and was left disappointed. We ordered 3 crystal shrimp and 3 king kong rolls. I was eating one of the rolls and had to dig part of a shrimp tail out of my mouth. The tempura was undercooked and had more of a doughy texture. We also ordered crab rangoons and there really wasnt a trace of crab in them. Just cream cheese. I noticed it wasnt as busy as it used to be. This could be why. Probably will look for a new sushi place to try. read more

We really like this place and before all the CoronaVirus stuff started, we would go there at least twice a month. Now that we are limited to ordering take-out and having it delivered, we are not going to order any more food until they open for sit down service again. Our reason to stop for ordering now is something that should be a minor warning to anyone else that orders food for delivery. When we got our order this week, it was a mess of liquid sauce in the bottom of the bag and all over the boxes. They put a lot of sauce it the food which is good except they use the cheapest possible flimsy Styrofoam containers with a VERY SHALLOW bottom so it is easy for the sauce to spill out of the box even with the most careful handling. I mean even really careful handling will have sauce spilling out of the box and onto everything. Don't blame it on the delivery person. Even while we took the containers out of the box, sauce was still spilling out of the sides. They need to use much deeper higher quality boxes for take-out. Also, since they chose not to be a part of the GrubHub+ program, you pay an extra $7 on top of the driver delivery tip for the privilege of have a to-go order. Sooooo, for now, we simply won't order anything to go. I would submit a photo, but it would just gross you out by looking at it. read more

Our go-to Chinese in Sparks! At least a couple of times each month. My husband and I order the same thing most times - cup of egg flower soup (the most favorable we've ever had), small CJ salad (the best salad dressing!), and pot stickers & the fried prawn appetizer. Hi, The servers were great and quite attentive in regards to drink refills. Cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Especially, considering the joint wasn't too busy. The booth I was seated at appeared to still be dirty with visible cup stains and apparent dried food. The combination pan fried noodles were quite oily with the noodles being overly drenched for my tastes (I like about a 50/50 mix between still crunchy and "noodlely"). Great food and service! We really enjoyed the lunch specials. Soup or salad is included - and we loved the creamy sesame dressing on our salads. Lunches include a scoop of rice and a crispy egg roll. My Mongolian Beef was very tender with lots of veggies. The others in my party ordered the Szechuan Shrimp and Kung Pao Chicken which they were too busy eating to say anything and only gave me a thumbs up sign. Atmosphere - The restaurant is half Chinese and half sushi with a small sushi bar. We sat at the bar and had our own chef for most of lunch. Food Drink - Just water, there was a free sake or soda with the Yelp check in which I did not use. Lunch - The sushi was good but no rolls really stood out to me. My daughter's favorite was the Mountain Roll, which the tobiko was replaced with chopped green onions. My daughter does not like those little eggs. So I request that all the rolls that we ordered with tobiko and masago, all replaced with chopped green onions. Service - This is the first time I actually asked for my sushi rolls to be customized, and it was not a big deal. Are chef was busy with prep work but was making eye contact and asking for our next rolls. Our waitress did not gather the dirty plates until we were done. Our waters were not filled until our last rolled was being finished. Future - Maybe. read more

This restaurant is right near my house and competes with other small Chinese restaurants in the same area. I figured I'd give this one a try and I was definitely NOT disappointed. We came here on Christmas Eve and they were still open until 9pm. Staff is nice and place is clean. Food was prepared excellent and it came steaming hot to our table. I had the sweet n sour pork with rice and egg drop soup. The pork was fresh and they cooked it just right as there were no burned or hard pieces. The waiters were attentive and pricing was about $15 for an entree. Definitely worth another try. read more

Wow! It's been a while since I've had an amazing experience with Chinese food. I've been trying to find a good Chinese restaurant that didn't sell me greasy and gross chow mein. The restaurant is a sit down casual ambience, not your fast food to-go place. I ordered a hot tea and was delighted when they brought me a tea pot with tea leaves for my green tea order. DELICIOUS! We ordered their BBQ pork for the appetizer, and it was basically a whole pork tenderloin we were brought. It was delicious with a side of sweet and sour sauce. I ordered their spicy schezuan beef and my friend ordered their crispy beef. Everything was piping hot and fresh. The portions were pretty big and we got a big bowl of steamed white rice to share. The service was great and I was super happy with the food. I will most definitely be back to try more of their options! read more

I have been going here for years. I have had ONE bad experience with the food ( on the sushi side ). The Chinese side is my favorite, but a lot of people do like the sushi. I have had a couple of grumpy servers but never terrible, just not super friendly. Went here for lunch with a friend, and damn skippy, it was good! Seriously, the food is most excellent, and the prices are not bad! We came in to eat at 8:50. They are open until 9:30 We were met by a gentleman who very strongly let us know that the doors close at 9:30. He counted down how much time we had to eat. I have never seen this kind of hospitality. He started flicking the lights about 9:15. We didn't feel very welcome. First time here and it was pretty tasty! Every staff member in the restaurant was very friendly and efficient. Our glasses never got more than half empty. The appetizers both came out quick & were delicious! I just wish the spring rolls would've come with some sort of dipping sauce. I didn't eat the sushi but the ones in my party that did said it was very yummy and it looked very well put together. The Chinese food was scrumptious! The generals chicken was perfect & not too spicy. Cashew chicken was very tasteful. The chow mein to me seemed a little... squishy but it tasted fine. Overall this was a nice place! read more

I am starting this review while I wait for my Sushi. I ordered my sushi at 5:35pm. It is now 6:20pm. Granted I am apart of a large group of 9 people. However the amount of time we have waited for for the first order is bordering unacceptable. I would walk out if I wasn't here with the rest of the family. It's consistently good. Sushi is always amazing, especially when you let your chef make you anything they want.

We have been going to Cj Palace for years . During Covid we always tried to support this local business. We would always order from their online menu. Recently, however they have upped the prices without updating theirs prices online and every time we order for pick up they always give us a different price. When you tell the host, they always say they can't do anything about it. It's very frustrating to order and your expecting a certain price and when you pay it's more than advertised. If you are ordering from their online menu make sure to ask for prices ahead of time. read more

Finally went to cj palace tonight for dinner,felt like sushi heard it was good so what the hell. Walked in was greeted right away and seated given both the regular menu with chinese and Japanese and also the all you can eat sushi menu,so we opted for the all you can eat sushi $23.95 good price,loads of selections and comes with soup choose from 3 kinds,salad also choose from 3 kinds and mochi for dessert great deal. Start off by saying always have had a great time at CJs this time was very different when we first came in we were greeted by very nice people at the front then we were seated by a wonderful hostess turns out table was too small as we had 4 adults and 1 child so we asked for a larger booth as they moved us to another section which was very nice we were greeted again by a waitress that was I belive having a bad day . I just want to say that she did not belong at Cjs her attitude was ridiculous from the start ( Ala) I belive her name was. She completely ruined my appetite but ofcourse my wife was embarrassed because of my reaction toward her afterwords. Well after she finally brought the bill without even asking about if anyone would like a dessert which came with the all you can eat .I was done with it . Luckily I did not have anything to say about her gratuity otherwise she would have received 2cts . Lucked out going to this place. Just happened to be in the neighborhood and felt like having Chinese food and- boom! There was CJ Palace. The food is so good! I got General's chicken and it had tremendous depth of flavor, just the right amount of sweetness and spiciness and the pieces of chicken were tender. Lunch date had the beef chow mein- also VERY very good. Definitely the best chow mein I've had in the Reno/Sparks area. Service was fast and friendly and prices were decent. This is definitely our go-to Chinese food place from now on. Funny detail: got a fortune that said "blessed are the children for they shall inherit the national debt." Talk about a truth bomb! I found myself feeling conflicted. On one hand, it's a bit of a bummer to read in a fortune- definitely not what one would expect. On the other hand, I wish more people cared about the debt our nation takes on and I appreciate this little nudge to remember that this debt is passed on to future generations. The food was delicious. The service really sucked tonight. We were being taken to be seated just to turn around twice. Then once we were seated we were ignored until a waiter came to take our order. I had a box dinner from back of menu. Teriyaki chicken, California roll and tempura. Hubby had shrimp fried rice and crispy chicken. He received both his plates then I had to wait to get mine. Was awkward. Plenty of food for both. My only complaint about mine was they put the salad on the plate with the warm food so salad was warm and crunchy food got soggy soaking up the salad dressing.
