I have only been here 3 yrs. but once I tried this restaurant I haven't gone any place else because when you find a great place to eat why keep looking and wasting money? I have had plenty of experience with Chinese food dining, from fast food to gourmet. One thing that draws me back is it is consistently well prepared and the service is easy going, but attentive. I love the All-you-can-eat Sushi. Again, well prepared & delicious. Finally had 2 opportunities to sit at the Sushi Bar. What a great!! time I had. This review is purely on the AYCE Sushi...I have heard the chinese is really good and I want to try it sometime. We finally tried this place after our personal fave Spanish Springs Sushi went out of business. We chose many of the same things we would get at SSS...unagi, salmon skin rolls, godzilla, any of the long rolls, etc. The sushi was OK...but the real letdown is that they put the same mayonaise based sauce on top. It starts to give all the long rolls the same taste so you don't get a good feel for the individual parts of the roll. The price was decent for AYCE. The service was really good and attentive. The kids split one of their box meals - it was plenty and then some for our 7 and 5 year olds (I kept snagging teryaki chicken, it was very good). read more

The service can be a little slow if you go at a busy time, but isn't that the case just about anywhere? The staff is certainly friendly and hardworking and some of them go the extra mile every time. The owner knows his regulars and you really feel at home here. My friends who like sushi enjoy it very much here but I don't like it, unfortunately. Keep trying, it still does't work for me. I love the Chinese food here, though. Probably my all time favorite in my nearly 40 years on Earth now and have lived in 3 metro areas. Crab rangoons melt in your mouth. All the standards are done to perfection. Especially love the General's Chicken. If you live in Sparks, like Chinese, and haven't tried this place, you really must. Came in , but no one to greet us, the sushi guy behind the counter yelled at someone twice behind the curtain after a few moments a buss boy led us to our table. I ordered the kung pao chicken and asked for a side of veggies in stead of the rice. The meal arrived( sans veggies) i did not complain to the hostess however. The flavor was great and would warrant the 4-5 stars most people give this place. The amount of chicken sucked , I counted 10 small nuggets of dark meat chicken, so it was more Kung pao zucchini . The food is usually 3 stars. The service is spotty at 1-2 stars. We had a waiter who acted like we were interfering with his day. The salad was warm. Vegetarian options are minimal. Substituting tofu is available with some dishes, but comes with a bad attitude. We've eaten here on and off for several years because it is close to where we live. We just moved to the area, and found CJ Palace kinda by accident. It's tucked away in a corner of a shopping complex, so it's not easily visible. However, it's definitely a place worth seeking out. The food was great; fresh, cooked perfectly, reasonably priced - perfect for a weeknight dinner out. My dinner partner and I both agreed it would make a nice "date night" place too. We had the kids with us (toughest critics of all) and the food passed with flying colors. Also, the service was spot-on. The server even dropped by a sample of the crispy beef special for us to try. Darien's review was right - it's delicious. We didn't order the sushi, but saw orders being delivered and decided we'll be back to try that soon. read more

We were looking for a last minute dinner out so we decided on Chinese food. CJ's was the closest and has decent reviews so we tried them! First if all, the food was DELICIOUS. We ordered the sweet and sour chicken and the cashew chicken (that was our fav). The service was pretty typical for and Chinese restaurant; not overly friendly but gets the job done. It was pretty pricey we felt but because the food was so good it was worth it. Would definitely come back again to try the sushi! read more

Go for the Chinese food, not for the sushi. Chinese food is great. Delicious, flavorful and I've never been disappointed. The crispy beef and crispy chicken are my favorite. Portions are large so there are always leftovers. Staff is kind, friendly and attentive. Now, the sushi leaves a lot to be desired. The few times I've gone I've left feeling disappointed. Such a great chinese restaurant. I have not had the sushi so I am not sure if it is good or not. I bet it is. There have been times were I tell myself I should try the sushi but I keep going for the chinese menu because it is just that good. My favorite dish is the crispy chicken. It comes with fried thin slices of crispy chicken breast, fresh bell peppers and onions. All stir fried into a spicy sweet orange citrus sauce. I love the flavor of heat, sweet, and ginger in this dish. I have had others and they are all great. They also have a great lunch menu from 11am-3pm EVERYDAY where meals are priced from 8.49-10.99 which include a lunch portion entree with Crispy spring roll, a choice of fried rice or steamed rice, and also a choice of salad or soup of the day (No soup or salad on Take out) This is the place I take people who have either not been here and local or from out of town. Sushi bar 2 Stars Restraunt food 3.5 Stars Sadly this place believes sushi is best served with a super secret sauce... mayo. If I was looking for mayo and fish, I would make a tuna sandwich! The fish quality was ok, but really you can do much much better. Some sushi noobs prefer only the fried stuff, which this places does well. The rest should be avoided... The restraunt propper is pretty tasty, but while the service was very friendly, it was very sparce. It took 30 minutes after being seated to get a server, and 30 more minutes to get our water refilled and food. 30 more minutes to flag someone down to tell them we wanted our check... The used the set it and forget it approach, not great! read more

I love me some CJ Palace Sushi. Their sushi chefs are inviting and remember who you are and the sushi is always excellent. I can't even name a favorite, I love them all. Also, I always measure good service on how often my drink is filled - If your glass is always empty then you've gotten some bad service (it's true! Try it sometime!). Needless to say, I never have an empty glass. The decor is a little cheesy but I honestly kind of like it that way. For sushi, I definitely give it 5 stars. read more

Food was excellent, the chef making my sushi was polite & attentive. Most of the other servers were very nice and helpful. We were sat at the bar, which is where we usually sit. There is a young man behind the bar that was very inappropriate and extremely unprofessional. He spoiled our entire visit with his consistency to have loud, obnoxious, personal conversation with the other chefs behind the bar. Very inconsiderate. read more

Both the Chinese food and the sushi are very goo. When combined with the friendly and efficient service, we eat there almost every week.

My wife and I ordered from the Chinese dinner menu and we were extremely impressed. We started off with the "CJ Combo" appetizer plate which featured great barbequed pork in the middle with spring rolls, crab rangoon, and tempura-fried prawns. The General's Chicken really is probably the best I've ever had (my go-to dish for a Chinese food place), sweet and crunchy with a bit of a kick on the back end, and with big chunks of juicy and delicious all-white chicken. We also ordered the Chicken Chow Mein and were equally happy for having done so. Service was prompt and very friendly and attentive all the way through. Next time we go we will probably order from the sushi menu, as many people sitting around us were receiving big plates of what looked like some pretty good offerings. A loss of two stars... Out last three visits have brought us to this conclusion. The place is still nice and service too is good if not a little to eager to clear ones plate while one is still eating. The food has taken a turn in the wrong direction. The tempura is no longer light and tasty, it is much heavier than in the past. The sauce on the chicken was too a bit heavy in flavour. Nothing on the plate tasted fesh, the California roll was tough as if it sat in the fridge for quite some time. Oh and the miso soup was odd as well. But if you are not expecting anything, it is fine. Oh the toilet this trip could use a bit of attention. read more

All of the food we've tried here is very good. From the Chinese Food, to the sushi and the bento boxes everything has always been great. I usually go for the chicken teriyaki bento box. There is so much food, I always take home 1/2 of my meal. I also look forward to their hot and sour soup and salad that comes with my meal. I have yet to find a place in the area that serves the traditional Japanese salad like CJ's. Hubby usually orders the AYCE sushi and my step father always orders Chinese. The food was horrible and the service was horrible the sushi had no fish or crab just avocado the wanton soup had 5 peices through out 2 large containers the crab racoon had no cream cheese or crab in it and then they just made excuses about the dinner and blamed grubhub like they made the food we always have eaten there and after that and the poor customer service we will not again read more
