I ordered a combo box, and split several sushi rolls with my table. The combo box was a little bit bland, but still pretty good. It had very large portions. The sushi rolls were all good. My server was very friendly, however he was not very knowledgeable about sushi or any of the sauces. Perhaps he was new. Overall, I had an enjoyable experience here. We go here about every month and the staff and food never disappoints, the sushi is awesome, the people are super friendly, and make you feel at home. Make sure you ask if there are any specials going on! We always get the pot stickers, and they are by far the best in town. I've always really liked this place and it's close to my house so we used to go there kind of often and I always liked the food and the prices were decent, but my sister and I went there earlier today and we were not pleased. since the last time I've been there, the prices have increased a lot ($15 for sweet and sour shrimp?) and that would've been fine, but the portion of my meal was the same size as when it was $9. my sister paid $12 for chow mein??? they were not very accommodating, as I think a place that expensive should be. you no longer get a free bowl of soup/salad and an egg roll or a choice of fried or steamed rice. we paid way too much for what we got. and now, on top of all of it, I have food poisoning. I'm not a happy camper and I'm very frustrated. just saying. read more

The atmosphere is really clean and big, there are a lot of options, and I've tried both Sushi and Chinese and wasn't disappointed. I've enjoyed many rolls like the Alaskan and Papi rolls. The service was poor and the food was mediocre. Came here for dinner on a Friday night with my boyfriend. He ordered the Broccoli in garlic sauce and I ordered all you can eat sushi and miso soup. It took over 30 minutes for my first roll to arrive, which was cold after waiting on the counter for so long, and the broccoli came about 10 minutes later. The sushi was okay and the broccoli was bland. The miso soup I asked for never came, so when our waitress came back asking what second roll I wanted we reminded her. Once again, the wait for the second roll was very long. The roll came but the soup didn't. Finally, I asked for my final roll which came in a decent time, but once again the miso never came. Our total was over $40 and we spent nearly 2 hours there. It was definitely not worth it. read more

This place is fabulous. Food is very fresh and service is great. Sushi bar is small and cozy, the sushi chefs are very friendly and knowledgable. If you don't find what you want on the menu, just describe it to them and they will make it for you to perfection. Only thing I would complain about is that the prices go up in the evening, even though its the same food for the dining room. I think to keep a steady patronage they should keep the prices the same or just slightly higher in the evenings. Expecting people to pay sometimes $10.00 more for a specific dish that costs $5.99 at noon is ridiculous Also, I believe the rater who said it took a long to get served must have been there on an awfully off day. Went with the family tonight and two of us had all you can eat sushi $22.99 and two had regular Chinese. After about 25 minutes my husband and son's food came out but no sushi. Waiting... Finally it came out and the two rolls we ordered looked like the exact same roll, a thin line of meat and 90% rice. I asked the server for the next round if there could be less rice and more actual seafood. By this time my husband and son were done and my daughter and I were still waiting, no drink refills no sight of the waiter. I then asked for the manager and told her my concerns and her answer was," I will see if I can think of something to do". We waited for another 10 to 15 minutes to get what was supposed to be a Godzilla roll to see a sliver of meat wrapped in fluffy deep fried rice. Totally disgusted by this, I ask for the bill. She comes back to say that she is giving me a gift card for a free all you can eat and taking the other two off the bill, leaving an almost $40 dollar amount due. We gave over our debit card and when we got the copy to sign the total change to $94.00!!!! At this point I'm at the limit, I took the bill up to the front and asked the woman to explain why there was a $60 increase. She said that the waiter forgot to all our TWO all you can eat dinners. I then told her that is NOT what the bill said and that I would not be paying for that at all. She tried to give me a $50 gift card instead of the other one so that I would come back, I told her to understand that I would NEVER come back to this place and that I was a waste of money. So now, she wanted to take the $94 off and put a $69 charge on for the dinner but that the credit would take three days, that means that $163 of my money would be tied up in this nightmare of a dinner. I can not believe that this business owner didn't figure all of this out BEFORE we were brought our bill!!! I can tell you with out a doubt that I will NEVER go back or recommend this place EVER!!!! CJ's Palace was one of my favorite places to have Chinese. On one visit the waitress was on a personal phone call and was too preoccupied on the phone to get my order right. I figured, things like that happen whatever. But the time after that, I ordered all you can eat sushi and the poor service continued. After I had eaten five small rolls, I ordered one more too be my last. The waiter looked at me and said angrily, "You gonna finish that?" I said, "Uh, yeah." He then walked away and spoke to the manager angrily pointing at my table. I thought, "Dude did I just get tattle tailed on?" Throughout the meal the waiter seemed to have a chip on his shoulder tossing the plates on the table when our order came. I thought maybe I was imagining it but I was not. I canceled the rest of my order for fear of getting extra DNA in my food. If it is not all you can eat don't call it all you can eat. Needless to say I will not be going back. read more

The Chinese food here is definitely the best I've had in Reno (haven't tried the Japanese menu). When I moved here, everyone raved about Palais de Jade. I tried it and found it very unimpressive, especially compared to restaurants in my home town. My favorite dishes are the Walnut Prawns, Moo Shu Pork or Chicken, the String Beans with or without shredded pork are to die for, and so is the General Chicken/Orange chicken. This last time I ordered the same thing I usually order, explicitly asked for a a certain dish without fish for allergy reasons, had a sight allergic reaction after leaving; this being after the fact I tasted it in my order, asked them to take it back for a simpler non-fish veggie roll, and they refused to compensate it for the roll I'd taken a few bights of and started noticing signs of a reaction. I've been coming here for 12 years and I'm absolutely disgusted with the service I received today. My waiter was an older aged man with glasses and a bald head, no idea why he was so rude to us or what his issue was but I have NEVER received such bad service here before!!! I know they just recently got a new owner so maybe that is why?? But I'm very upset because this is my favorite place to come. My family has easily spent over a thousand dollars here just in the last year. The waiter was so absolutely rude to us, I don't think he said one word besides asking what we want. When he brought us food he would just throw it in front of us and never said one word to us. He wouldn't even look us in the eyes when we were talking to him. I ordered muscles (which I always do for the last 12 years) and he said the limit was 2 orders, which is fine, but he brought out FOUR whole muscles?!?! Two orders equals 4 muscles???? That's ridiculous. I will not be coming back here as long as he's giving his terrible service. As long as I walk in and see him here I will walk right out. And I'm not recommending this place to people anymore. I hope you guys can step it up because this used to be my favorite place in town. Visiting from the Seattle area this was the first restaurant I visited in the Reno area. To preface this review Asian food tends to be the food I prefer over any other genre. This restaurant focuses on Chinese cuisine as well as Japanese Sushi. While I haven't tried any of the other Asian places in town I got the impression this place would warrant probably a 4.5 for the area. I think I was a little bummed that my bento meal was served on a plate instead of an actual bento box but maybe I'm just being a baby lol. The sashimi that accompanied my meal was actually super fresh and made me wish I had just stuck with an all sushi meal rather than getting the bento. The bento meal came with a Teriyaki Salmon(fresh n juicy), fried tempura ( the oil this was fried in was well beyond its expiration date), and a salad. The bento in most restaurants is good at having a lot of variety however this felt more like a lunch combo plate. My hunny didn't seemed to enjoy the pan fried noodles at all and barely touched the plate. The noodles were like a crispy/salty deep fried noodle used for hong kong style chowmein or a birds nest. Our dinner companions though seemed to love their egg foo young and it looked like how the dish should look. Overall Id say this place probably does some things well and some things...not so well? Just stick with what their good at and you should be fine :-). read more

We had a number of dishes and all of them were very good except for the lemon chicken. Most, not all, of the chicken was so tough it was impossible to cut with a fork or regular table knife. The waitress could not cut them with a fork and we asked to talk to the manager or owner. That person refused to come and talk with us and I finally had to go and bring her to the table. She could not cut the chicken either. She said it was the fault of the supplier in that it had been cut incorrectly and she was not responsible. We asked to have it removed from the ticket and she again blamed the provider. We did not give up and eventually she removed the lemon chicken from the ticket. We went in on Tuesday night with our young son. We were greeted by friendly staff and seated immediately! We ordered the $15.99 dinner for me and my husband and to share ours with our son. I have never had a more delicious dinner ever! The egg flour drop soup was amazing! The spring rolls were amazing and our entrées were amazing! I ordered sweet and sour chicken and my husband had the spicy chicken. I enjoyed his more than mine! I give them 5 stars for the wonderful waiting staff and the overall comfortable atmosphere! The food was a bonus! You get what you pay for so I agree with their prices! We will be returning! read more

This was the first time we had been here in about a year just because we live in Damonte Ranch so it's a pretty good drive to get out there. However, we decided to go for Fathers Days and it was as good as we remembered. Our son had the all you can eat sushi and it was well worth the $12. He had 6 rolls, 4 pieces of sashimi, salad, soup and ice cream and it was all fresh and tasted great. The rolls were full size, not mini's like some other places give you at the all you can eat. They also do not require you to eat any rice, like some other places do. My husband and I shared the Godzilla roll and the chicken teriyaki box and it was plenty for the 2 of us. The roll is pretty big and rolled tight enough that it didn't fall a part when you picked it up. The sauce on it was so great but was just enough. The chicken was so tender I was able to cut it with a fork. Our daughter had the egg foo young and it was wonderful. It was full of vegetables and comes with a sauce that is really good. The only complaint I had was the sweet potato tempura wasn't cooked all the way thru so it wasn't eatable. Their Chinese food selections are also good. It seemed like everything was clean and well maintained. This is a great spot for an upscale lunch or dinner without braking the bank. read more
