Wow, were we lucky to find this place. We went there strictly for Chinese food and were not disappointed at all. Sometimes it is hard to find quality Chinese food when you are away from home, but this is the place to go. We had honey walnut prawns, pork fried rice, pork chow mein and shrimp with string beans. Stayed away from this place a year for bad food. Tried take out last night and got sick. Should have known not to eat food. My wife opened containers and said food did not smell or look right. We are spoiled foodies from San Francisco. So we have experienced some of the best food in the world. There is great food here in Reno. Unfortunately some restaurants or chefs get lazy because they know they have a captured audience here. Sorry Reno there are too many bad eating establishments around this town. My boss has taken me here on business lunches many times. While I find the food average, I did try out their sushi recently and it is pretty good! Our sushi chef was very entertaining -- which, in my opinion, is 60% of the meal -- and they use a Thousand Island-type sauce on some of their rolls that is pretty good. $22 all you can eat sushi. considering location (reno), i would say this gets a 4. if this were elsewhere (near SF), it would probably get a 3. our server was quite fast, and very friendly. the nigiri is clearly frozen, but then again, reno isn't near an ocean. the rolls are pretty good, though generically covered in the same sauces, but nonetheless quite tasty. overall i'd come back again, if i was craving sushi in reno. they are a bit chaotic in terms of seating and waiting for tables . . . and busing tables, but overall, you get what you pay for, it's $22 people! i can't speak for the chinese food however. but then again i didn't come to reno to eat chinese. read more

I've always been a fan of CJ's. The food is consistently good, but the service lately has gone down hill. Not because the service is not friendly or attentive, because they are, but they seem to be so short-staffed that service in general suffers.My last visit there before today was in Oct. Service wasn't as spot-on as it always had been at that visit. Oh well I thought, maybe just a bad night. So, son and I go for dinner today, at around 4:30. Most of the tables are full..day after Christmas and crowds shopping at the Galleria and whatnot. There was one waitress and one bus person trying to serve a whole room of tables with 2-6 people each. Really? Anyway, our waitress seemed stressed, as I can well understand. She brought our small order of hot and sour soup out, then nothing for 45 minutes. We waited, and waited, and waited for our entrees to be brought. I ordered kung pao chicken and son ordered sesame chicken. At one point, we saw the waitress make a mad dash for the bathroom. From where I was sitting, all I saw was the back of her, but son saw her face. He said..Mom, she's crying. Oh hell! Guess our food will be awhile. Numerous times the the hostess (one of the owners?) came by to say your order will be out shortly. By the 5th time, I was ready say, bring me the check for the soup and the coke son ordered and we'll be going on our way. So, the waitress reappears, kind of sniffling and watery-eyed(poor girl, really) and says your order will be out shortly. OK..again with the order will be out shortly? Then the hostess comes back and says we ran out of sesame chicken. We have to make some more, it will be another few minutes, but it will be fresh. Then much yelling in Chinese from the kitchen from the cooks. The guy at the next table (who by the way at that point was grumbling about the service as well, but raving about the taste of the appetizer he ordered) said someone sounds upset. Yeah..someone in the kitchen, perhaps the chef, was bitching out someone, maybe the waitress..as if all of this short staffedness is her fault? Used to be you would eat there and the food would be out in minutes, and your water glass or pop glass was never empty. What the hell happened over the last year? 0_0? When our orders finally arrived, they were delicious, but really CJ...this breaks my heart! 45 minutes from soup to entree? I might wait awhile before going back. Fix your front of the house issues! Not good! Hire some more people, because you have a large customer base! Don't scare that base off with short-handed staff. Not good! Hoping you'll figure this all out before I come back. read more

We're new to Nevada, and don't know of many places good to eat, so I relied on Yelp and the reviews. With it being Valentine's day and being one of the busiest times of the year, they were fast and friendly. Our waitress was wonderful she was attentive and very helpful. The food was excellent, we wanted to keep eating more but had to stop ourselves before we over ate. I don't normally like pot sticker sauce, but this being a new restaurant to us in a new state I decided to try it, it was amaaaaazzzziiiinggg it was kind of salty like soy sauce but had a hint of ginger in it. Normally we get it to go. Tonight we had time to eat in. Business looked steady, no wait, seated within minutes. Ordered Lemon Chicken, Generals Chicken, Pork Fried Rice, with potstickers and a crystal shrimp roll. Food came out in a timely manner. Brandon our server hooked us up with everything we needed. Checked on us at all the right times without getting that annoying feeling. Had a lot of food for 2 adults and 2 kids. Food was great as usual and so we shall return again. Tried this place. Came at what looks like an extremely busy time. Sushi and appetizers came out quickly, but felt like forever to get the chow mien noodles out to the kids. The timing of the food was way off. The kids should not have to wait 15 minutes after the adults to get their food. The sushi was not quite up to par. Used to love this place, the last year or so it has been more miss than hit. If you sit at the sushi bar you will usually get good service. On the sit down side or the Chinese side the service time has been atrocious on several occasions, but I enjoy the rolls so I keep giving it another try every few months. They have been out of Mochi on several occasions which is so disappointing. When they DO have it they have a plum wine Mochi that was awesome - only had it once - haven't heard of it or had it anywhere else but it was so good. read more

Just visited today for a second time. The first time, my husband and I sat in the dining room and a little spring roll app and some rice. We liked it and we promised we would be back to sit at the sushi bar. This time we sat at the sushi bar- first of all- Great customer service. I had the Spanish Springs Roll-I liked it. My husband had the Spicy Tuna Roll- the tuna was mushy (not normal). Next, my husband had Scallop roll- we liked it. And then we tried the Dragon Roll- heavy and rich. Overall the food was good, not the greatest. We will probably be back again to try other things on their-and we always like to support local business, I just hope it's better next time. read more

I love this place. Its in my neighborhood. I stop in for sushi and everyone on staff is friendly and social. I often sit at the sushi bar and chat with the chef's. Ready for a drink.. Ask 4 a Saki Bomb! Its not just a place to dine, they do have drinks as well. If I could afford It, I'd eat there more often. I've come here often over the years as I know the owners and they've always done a great job with making people feel taken care of. Very good combination of Chinese food and Sushi. My wife opts for the Chinese food and I usually go for the Sushi. They have an all you eat Sushi deal for both lunch and dinner. The food is very good, and very fresh. They can be a bit slow when their busy, which is most of the time, but the food is great.
