Well, the milk shake itself wasn't bad but the cup was smaller than I expected, and it was barely more than half full. Took us quite a while to even order,maybe 10 minutes,and they were far from busy. I ordered a double cheeseburger,not too well done.It came back VERY dry and overcooked. My friend ordered a burger also not too well done and hers came back without cheese even after confirming with the waitress that it would have cheese on it. My family and I love this little diner. The food is so good (breakfast and dinner) and the employees and very nice. It's very kid friendly and clean. I also enjoy their shakes and chocolate Coke!! I wanted to add to my review because my family and I had another great experience at Classic Diner. We recently went and brought my parents as well as a little family celebration lunch. We weren't disappointed. If I could give them another 5 stars I would. As a group of 8 we were quickly seated at a large table and all our orders came out at the same time. The waitresses were friendly, patient and very nice with the children. The food was so good as always!!! We had a great time. Thank you!!! read more

Ordered a classic burger.The buns are perfection,it didn't fall apart. It had the softness and hint of crunchy ness on top of the bun, I loved it.For having a single patty I enjoyed every bite,the meat was not slim & thin it had the right texture and thickness. The French fries I didn't really care for.. It was to soft,im a crunchy type person. The onion rings were awesome! First time I went, the place was super cute, service was great and so was the food. This was so dinner with a small group of friends (4 people total). When it seems super busy, service is best. I ordered a cold sandwich with onion rings. It was really good. I don't remember if I went the last time was my 3rd or 2nd time. Anyways, the last time I went, service was quick, but the food served this time was gross. I took my sisters out for lunch and we ordered some burgers. Everything was cooked fine, but there was hair in some of the food. Nasty and definitely a pet peeve. In a nutshell, if you want good food, go when it's busy. I came here with a friend for breakfast. The ambience is extremely cute, and my friend and I especially loved the life-size Elvis statue outside! As for the food, there was way too much sauce on the eggs benedict so it was too salty. I had to keep scraping off the sauce. We also ordered the banana milkshake (I forgot the exact name... Banana Mania or something?), which was delicious. We asked for the shake to be split into two cups so my friend and I could share, and the waitress came with both cups completely filled! We did realize, however, that a little less than half was whipped cream, which we scooped out in fear of heart attacks. Even after scopping the whipped cream, however, we only had to wait 15 minutes after finishing our meal for our stomachs to express their unhappiness with the heaviness of the shake. I'm quite glad we agreed on sharing a whole shake.. I have no idea what would happen if I drank a whole one by myself! To satisfy the spaghetti craving that we had, absent of a method to cook it where we're staying, we found ourselves yelping away for suggestions. We picked the Classic Diner because it was fairly close by and it was a Tuesday and Tuesday Spaghetti night seemed to fit the bill. With an overall bill for 2 plates of $17.98, where could you go wrong? It was a little bland but it did the job and satisfied the craving. Another great breakfast place discovered. I totally like this place's Chicken Fried Steak better than Baldie's Cafe, although I still prefer Country Way's gravy. But this is not a bad place to go to. First, let me say it took me awhile to convince my fiance to go because of the poor Yelp! reviews. We came here because it was on our route to Mount Hamilton. The food is not that bad, and the service was extremely quick! Coffee was refilled promptly, water was given without asking. I thought for a diner it was exactly what I came there for. The food is not mind blowing, but the portions are good, and it does the job. The James Dean, Elvis, and Marilyn Monroe stuff I can pass on, but whatever floats their boat. read more

The food is okay - typical "meh" Fremont fare, nothing special to write home about. But the service was some of the most incompetent, illiterate or quite possibly even brain-damaged that I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. A language barrier is an acceptable - charming, even - part of enjoying genuine ethnic cuisine. But it came as a quite a shock to encounter such an issue at a 1950's American diner with a waitress that seemed otherwise perfectly capable of hearing and constructing syntactically valid English sentences with no unusual accent. I'd gone with two friends, and ordered a French dip sandwich. The waitress asked if I wanted "everything on it." I paused for a moment...what's "everything" on a French dip? It's usually just meat on a roll, but then I remembered that some places like to kick it up. "Oh - does that have cheese?" I asked. She answered in the affirmative. "And onions?", I further inquired, to which she nodded. "Okay. Perfect! Bring it on!" What arrived at the table was meat on a bun. Which would be just fine - that's all I expect of a French dip - but it was not what we'd just discussed. And it ended up being pretty durable meat, too. One friend ordered a milkshake with her meal. "Thick," she requested, "Insanely thick. Like, turn the glass over and it doesn't budge thick," with elaborate miming gestures and everything, to which the waitress nodded and took notes. What showed up had roughly the consistency of chocolate milk. At least they got the chocolate part right. Finally, another friend had a hankerin' for a hot fudge sundae for dessert, but didn't see that flavor listed on the menu (only "chocolate"). He asked the waitress specifically if they had hot fudge, and all three of us very clearly heard her say, "Yes, we have hot fudge," so that's what he ordered. You guessed it...what he actually got was a sundae with room-temperature Hershey's syrup. After eventually flagging her down he pointed out that this was not the hot fudge sundae which he'd ordered. "Oh, we don't have hot fudge," was the reply. He sent it back, and we left a meager tip that in hindsight was still too generous. It's quite possible that she's new and still unfamiliar with the menu...in which case the correct response to customer inquiries has traditionally been "let me check for you," not outright lies! The only other explanation I can fathom is that perhaps this person genuinely is dealing with some sort of cognitive maldevelopment. read more

This is moderately good. Breakfasts are good. The prices are reasonable. I usually get the corn beef hash and eggs. The corn beef hash is not from scratch, I can tell. But I still like it. I ordered chicken nuggets once for lunch and They were obviously frozen once. Their tuna melt is great. It's stuffed with tuna and the cheese is melted nicely. Just about all their sandwiches are good. Their clam chowder on Fridays are watery. The service is good. It's a nice atmosphere, esp if you enjoy the 50's or classic cars. They sometimes have an event where the parking lot is filled iwth classic cars. That's cool. read more

The food is okay. That's it. The service is not great but they give you what you ask for. This place is okay. Edible. I've been there twice. Once for breakfast and once for dinner. I had the scrambled eggs with sausage and hash-browns and for dinner I had the grilled chicken sandwich with fries. It wasn't bad. But it wasn't great. The best way to describe it would be that there's nothing special about the food to make me want to come back for more. The eggs and chicken could use a little more flavoring/seasoning. I had lunch here today with three of my colleagues at work. Our company just moved offices to Fremont so we are always out and about trying new places for lunch. First, we ordered onion rings for us to share. Everyone thought it was just okay. The rings were very oily. The batter visibly absorbed so much oil. The onion rings color was very dark brown. I am not sure if it was the batter or it was fried using old cooking oil. I ordered a BBQ chicken salad. It was not what I had mind because the dressing of the salad was the barbecue sauce itself. I thought it would be cut up barbecued chicken. Instead, it was just grilled chicken breast drenched in barbecue sauce. I only ate half of it. I believe it was $11.50. Definitely not worth it. The only thing I liked was the side bread and the ice cold soda. One colleague ordered a Tuna melt. He said it was just okay. I tried the fries it came with and it was also greasy. I think the oil they use for deep frying needs to be a few degrees hotter so the food won't absorb so much oil. My other colleague ordered a grilled chicken salad. It almost looked like my salad minus the barbecue sauce and the few pieces of bacon. To his surprise, it did not come with a dressing. He had to ask. He ate less than half of it. We have tried about half a dozen restaurants since we moved to the Fremont office and this one is something we will probably not try again, or at least not anytime soon. This place is super cute but I was super disappointed in it. I got the breakfast sampler with blueberries on the pancakes. When I ordered I asked for the scrambled eggs to please not be brown/burnt. The plates came and the eggs were very overdone, browned and rubbery. The pancakes were bland. The sausage was super overdone and rubbery too almost like it was left out too long and reheated. The bacon was really chewy. The only two redeeming things were the potatoes and English muffin which are pretty hard to mess up. The entire meal I was battling big black flies that were trying to land on my food. The waitress checked on me just at the very end to see how I was doing but not before that. My boyfriend wanted to check out this restaurant for lunch, so we could deviate from the normal fast food places. The life-size Elvis, and interior decor was pretty cute and offered a comforting and unique vibe. The waitress that we had wasn't the most bubbly, or happy to be there (I get it, it's the weekend. Who wants to work on the weekends?), but sociable enough. I ordered the French Dip (which came with french fries), as well as a root beer float. My boyfriend ordered the Be Bopper Bacon Cheeseburger (also with fries), and a vanilla shake. The meat for the French Dip didn't have too much flavor, but some seasoning in the bead that they used was AWESOME!! The au jus that you dip the sandwich into had a good flavor as well, but was a bit too salty for me. The fries were okay. Enough places have fries nowadays that you need to do something special to them to make them great, but the fries I had weren't anything to praise. Adding a little salt and pepper would have made a difference. Root beer float - GREAT!! Not much you can do to mess up a root beer float. Apart from my finicky pallet, my boyfriend seemed to hoover his food down so I think he would give it a thumbs - up. Otherwise, I underestimated his proclaimed hunger. read more

I used to come for breakfast after Church and found myself hungry for a burger. Not the keep hot you get when going through drive thru, a burger you think about & hope to savor.
