I come here pretty often. It's actually my favorite crawfish place now, so I just decided it deserves 4 stars because I'm a fan!!!

We came here because Boiling Crab alllllwwaaays has a line, we came close to an hour before closing and it was almost full. We got a table super fast and ordered one of their specials: 2 lbs of shrimp, cajun fries, wings. It was crazy cheap and enough for 4 of us. Their peach iced tea is really good, there are slices of peaches at the bottom and it's just sweet enough. I think we got the "medium" level of spicy? and it wasn't really that spicy, so we'll probably go for whatever the highest level is... All in all, a good substitute for boiling crab (and they have ribs too). read more

I went out Sunday night and got the worst service. My 25 minute wait turned out to be a 1 hour wait because the girl who took my name down wrote 25 people instead of 2 people by mistake. Ordered our food with no problem but it took 30 minutes to come out which was acceptable based on how busy it was. First came the fries without ketchup. When asked for ketchup the girl said okay but forgot about it and we had to ask another waitress to bring it out which also took about 7 minutes. They brought wine to our table which we did not ordered, they brought garlic bread 10 minutes later which we did not ordered also. They finally brought our food out but didn't give us utensils. So we had to wait another five minutes. I also ordered a side of sauce in the beginning which I waited over 15 minutes for (my food was already getting cold) and told her to cancel it but they still brought it over. When I asked for my check, she asked, well did you use the sauce or not? Which I did not use. She took the sauce back and just walked away instead of leaving it and getting us our check. Like really?? You could have tossed that out when busting the tables. Anyways, I asked for my check and food to go. I will never ever go here again. Ya'll need to train your staff to be more polite. read more

This place is awesome. After trying several cajun seafood restaurants, I'd say that Claws is by far my go-to place for some cajun goodness. From their food to their service, every experience I've had here has been excellent. The food is delicious... I always order a pound of shrimp and a pound of crawfish, garlic butter/spicy. Of course, I gotta add some corn and sausage in there, can't forget about that. The shrimps are huge in comparison to Boiling Crab, which is a plus. Crawfish is always good. My last visit here, the crawfish was a little bit smaller than usual but I know it's just the beginning of crawfish season. It's just gonna get bigger! As for the sauce, I prefer the garlic butter over the cannonball, but that's just in my preference. But the sauce is absolutely delicious... Not too salty, not too bland. I wish I knew the secret! I always try to order something new every time I go to Claws. My most recent visit, they had several new items on their menu, such as LIVE mussels and king crab crisps. I decided to try the live mussels and I loved it! You could definitely tell the difference between frozen mussels and live mussels. The live mussels tasted so fresh. It had that perfect chewy texture. Although the server notified us that it was one dollar more, it was worth that extra dollar. To go along with their good food, they have good service. I've never left the restaurant disappointed. From their refills to taking empty items off the table, the servers always do their best to make us happy. I love Claws! read more

This place was absolutely delicious. I've had my fair share of boiling crab and the wanna-be boiling crabs but this restaurant stands on its own. Their sauce was remarkable and the best part was that it was actually a sauce and not an oily concoction like boiling crab's. I loved the fact that the sauce was thick, not oily, and did not separate.Okay, enough with the boiling crab comparisons, as I said this place stands alone. My boyfriend and I shared the 3 lb seafood combo which included two appetizers ($39). We chose the onion rings and garlic fries. The garlic fries at Claws are the best garlic fries I have ever eaten - and I've had my fair share of garlic fries because I am a garlic lover!! The onion rings were onion rings, I mean you really can't do onion rings wrong. We also ordered a side of garlic bread, which was a mistake because one lb shrimp and two pounds crawfish was a ton for two people, even though we were pretty hungry. We managed to finish all the seafood but had leftover garlic bread and onion rings. We LOVE cajun seafood. The shrimp were big and juicy as were the crawfish. My mouth is watering as I write this review. A big plus is that there is a large variety of foods here, so if one of your family members or SO doesn't really love cajun seafood as much as you do, they'll do just fine with finding something else on the menu. Another big plus was that my boyfriend and I did not leave Claws reeking of garlic like we do when we leave boiling crab and it did not take us more than a couple hours to get rid of the smell on our breath. Which brings me to my only complaint. For our three pounds of seafood, I felt that there was an ton amount of garlic in it, which I loved for the first 2 1/2 lbs of food but eventually got tired of it. It's not that it was nasty or anything, it just felt a tad overpowering after eating it for so long, so if you're not too fond of garlic, don't get the cannon bomb/ball (?) like we did. Or if you do enjoy garlic but not too much, maybe ask if they can put light garlic chunks. Overall, Claws was delicious food with great service as well as cleanliness, so we will definitely be returning. Do not hesitate to come here!! read more

My family n I have been going here since it opened. I should have written a good review a long ass time ago. However, I should today. I forgot my iPhone 6 plus there. I got home, took a shower n all, about to go to sleep, then I realized I forgot my phone. I did a "find my iPhone" search and found out I left it at Claws. Words can't express how appreciative I am with their service and honesty. Aside from their Good Samaritan characteristics from their staff, their foods and service is wonderful as well. Though not as good as Boiling Crab, Claws is a good/close alternative to when you aren't willing to wait -- sometimes hours -- for a table at BC. The wait here is generally 30 to 45 minutes on a busy night (but I have noticed that they overestimate... which is a good thing, I suppose). The service and food is good. Further, they have some interesting options that BC does not offer (specifically, the "Fried Frog Legs"). If you aren't familiar with these crawfish restaurants, the highlight is obviously the crawfish. The crawfish are served in a bag -- with your choice of seasoning and spice level. You aren't given plates -- and eat directly off a paper covered table. read more

I had the worst experience here. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND EATING HERE. First of all they made me wait 20 minutes for a table but when I looked inside there was ton of tables open but I honestly didn't mind. Then when they sat us down no one took our drink orders then waited another twenty minutes until we called a server to take our order since no one came. We weren't mad at all until the food came out because we order two bags of a pound of shrimp, gumbo, coke & a strawberry lemonade. The strawberry lemonade tasted like alcohol and I made my boyfriend try it because I wanted to make sure I wasn't imagining it & he agreed. He asked the server to trade the lemonade for a coke because it tasted like alcohol then the drink came out 15 minutes later... Then the food came out 30 minutes later. At this point we waited over and hour for food but when the food arrived I had no idea the bag had a hole in it so oil and butter from the bag spilled all over my jeans. After my boyfriends bag of shrimp spilled oil & butter too. We asked the server if we could talk to the manager but instead another server came instead. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE.! Finally the manager (some old Vietnamese guy) came after 15 minutes and we explained everything that happened and he kept saying he can't do anything about it and STILL MADE US PAY FOR THE MEAL THAT WE DIDNT EAT OR HE WOULD CALL THE COPS ON US. I thought it was so unprofessional and rude. Im making sure none of my friends or family is coming here again. I wouldn't want them to experience what we did. read more

This review is based purely on a service but it was so atrocious that no matter how good the food is it will not compensate for the lack of service. We were seated for at least 20min before our server came, I flagged down other servers who refused to help because "your server is on his way" is he one the way to work still?! There's no way that he could've been on the way still and taken over 20min the restaurant itself isn't that big and there are food runners to bring out the food. Overall the food is just meh, there are tons of comparable spots in OC that I will not be returning to this one because the level of service has just gone downhill. This used to be one of my favorite Cajun food establishments and I've been a patron since it was still in the smaller location. Oh well maybe I'll give it another shot if I ever want to wait forever to be greeted whole seated in what is quite possibly the loudest dining room ever. read more

I'm so happy I found my new crawfish restaurant. I use to go to BC but stopped going there because the waitstaff for so rude to me and my friends. I love claws. Their food is so yummie. its same as Boiling crab and rockin crawfish..except CLAWS is pricier and everything u want to add is extra..but they do have a larger menu..its 9.99 a pound..the theme of this restaurant is Pirate style..the restaurants is clean and not as busy..went here for lunch with my friends for lunch..but i still like rockin crawfish because corn, potatoes and sausage is already included in the bag. but this is a nice retaurant.... read more

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this place. It's absolutely positively delightful. We started off with the sweet potato fries which were seasoned and cooked to utter perfection. So delicious. We didn't want to order any other appetizers because we came there for one thing, and one thing only, the much talked about cannonball infused seafood. I went with my girlfriend, who is a little overweight, but not quite heffer status, and a friend of hers who was at heffer status, so I kept this in mind when ordering. Anyways, we decided to go with the 5 LB special in their Fiery Cannonball sauce. After much argue and debate we decided to go with the shrimp, crawfish, crab legs, mussels, and crawfish, pretty much one of everything. As soon as our smoking hot asian goddess of a waitress bestowed the magical bag of cajun fury on our table we went absolutely bonkers. I think both of my companions clapped and rejoiced for they both were at the point of hunger where they felt fatigued and dizzy, for they have not eaten since 3 hours earlier. We all just dug in and went to town. We consumed everything in less than one hour, or should I say they consumed everything in less than one hour. I just had a few shrimps, crawfish and a couple crab legs, and stayed away from the clams and mussels because they sicken me with their grotesque look. All in all, everything was marvelous. No complaints here. Is it better than The Boiling Crab? It's just as good if not better, you don't have to wait 1 hour plus to get seated, and the waitresses are cuter and more friendlier. So I guess my answer to that would be yes. read more

I have never been so disappointed with this place until tonight 6/20/14 @ 9:10 pm! We came after our son's game along with some friends for dinner. We order over $120 worth of food and after few minutes the waitress came and said they were out of white rice. Which she mentioned they had Cajun rice instead. So my husband asked her if they would replace the white rice with the Cajun? She said she would ask the manager. Comes back minutes later to say manager said no. We asked for the manager which was useless as he comes to our table and was very unpresentable and with the I could care less approach. When asked for the same thing, he implies that he has some old white rice if we would like that?!?!! Are you efen serious ??? Then when my husband explained to him how inconvenient it was to order all the shrimp and clams with no rice , he tells us that he can cancel our order!!!!!! With four kids hungry... This is your management skills?!?! We could have gone to boiling crab instead but chose your facility. In reality, we weren't seeking any compensation but an acknowledgement of some understanding and rather he offered to let us leave instead of showing some empathy. We came here 2-4 times a month and has highly recommended to our friends and family. In addition , I work in the hospitality industry in Anaheim/ garden grove... If I took time to express my complete dissatisfaction on yelp, you can bet that I will make sure that I share this with everyone and every social media!!! read more

love that there are so many more choices. pieces were giantic and delicious. initially tried the mild and found that i needed more spice, but i think my taste buds were off (thanks sinus infection) did clear them up when we moved onto the medium. the goals is to try at least one of everything on their menu... although we always seem to stick with our favorites (muscles, crawfish, shrimps - which they do not scimp on). it's nice that there is no wait and service is always good. the girls are nice and the customers seem to be usuals (we've run into the same group twice now) happy muching read more

CLAWS is soooooo good! I live pretty far from here but believe me it's totally worth it! Their lemon pepper peeled shrimp is amazing. It's kinda pricey compared to boiling crab or other Cajun restaurants. But like I said totally worth it so, for 2$ more each pound they will give you peeled shrimp! Which is pretty awesome considering that once the peeled it is soaked in the sauce, rather than having to peel it yourself and you get a sad dry flavorless little shrimp! Boiling crab doesn't give you the peeled shrimp option so it sucks! Claws Cajun sauce has a unique flavor to it that makes everything taste so good! Now the only reason they didn't get the 5 stars from me was because of the fact that I tried to call in my order once just so that I can get there and pick it up(bcus of how far I live) & they said bcus I wasn't on file they couldn't take my order which I think is kinda stupid but whatever. Came here for the first time and once we went inside there was A LOT of people waiting to get seated. I browsed around saw there was TONS of available seating!!!! So I asked how long was the wait and the host seemed dumbfounded (didn't even say hello) and said the wait was going to be 15mins!! For what??! it was ridiculous, 90% of their seats were available and it took 15 mins to get seated?? I'm assuming they were short on staff, so I decided to seat myself at the bar. I waited for 10 mins to not even get approached by anyone. The bar person was looking at cups and didn't pay attention to whoever arrived. I was disgusted, I asked for a menu and got ignored. Young employees + customer service = TERRIBLE. Hard to get good customer service these days. Management needs to step up their game. read more

i love that Claws has now moved to a much bigger location with more tables and less wait time!! the food is always amazing and you can never go wrong with any of their tea or flavored drinks. they prices are great for the amount of food and unlimited refills you get and the servers and staff are always friendly. i prefer Claws over Boiling Crab and would come back here with family, friends, and out of town guests any day! definitely try this place out if you can!! read more

Their service & food has seriously taken a downward spiral. Once they moved to their new location, we paid them a visit and took 10 minutes to get a table (the place was empty), server then never checked on us to get drink orders (I'm a totally patient person- my husband changed both our babies diapers, then washed his & our 3 kids hands, came out, sat for 5 more min & we still never were helped). Decided to leave & told the waitress who responded with a comatose-like "ok". I was so peeved by this experience but decided over a year later to try it again... Service was a little better since we had our usual girl from the old location but the food is lacking flavor & they're skimping on the sauce. Sadly, I'd rather wait in the Disneyland line at Boiling Crab. The main thing that kept me returning to Claws was their baguette that BC doesn't offer, but even that was stale the latest visit... came here twice, once with a group of friends and once with my fellow eating partner, the bf...my first try we ordered a variety of different items..oysters-okay, fried calamari-good, garlic bread-bad, a pound of crawfish cannon ball medium spice-yum, a pound of crawfish cajun medium spice-yum, king crabs in garlic butter-good, pound of shrimp cannon ball spicy-yum. everything was good and the crawfish were huge! i think they were in season because i got alotta meat in just one crawfish. then i came here two nights ago and ordered the crawfish cannon ball spicy...it tasted different...the sauce was really think and gunky and wasn't enjoyable, we asked our server to see if they can add more butter to mellow it out and they did that for us happily...the taste was alot better but not great...but we finished it anyway...i think the service here is a bit slow and had to stop my meal to get there attention several times...this place is not busy so i dont know why they dont come around and see if we need anything else...but there is not wait so id probably come back to get my fix of cajun food. read more

One thing I hate about going out to eat is waiting in line. If I have to wait more than 20 minutes for my food its a "no go." I always crave for crawfish but once I think of the ridiculous wait at BC I start having second thoughts. It wasn't until Yelp saved me once again! I saw reviews of Claws and I thought why not give it a try. I was so happy I tried out Claws. I will never ever try any other crawfish place ever again. This place doesn't charge you for water and free refills on water too! Their canon ball sauce is exactly like the sha-bang sauce at BC exept it's not super salty like BC. I went here almost every week and the longest we waited was about 15 minutes which is soooo much better than waiting for 1 hour and 30 minutes. However, just because the wait isn't long, this place still gets packed. So, don't worry about the place being completely empty. The only downfall is that service is kinda bad. Especially upon coming in and waiting to be seated. I notice every person that comes in for a seat stands there for quite a while until someone notices. I followed the advice of one of the yelpers and called ahead for reservations. So glad that I did, because when we arrived, the line was out the door. Between the three of us, we shared the 3 lb meal deal, which is 3 lbs of seafood (mussels and clams) along with the trimmings (more on this shortly) for $36 . If you want shrimp, you add $2/lb and for king crab legs, $8/lb. In addition to the mussels, we added a pound of shrimp and a pound of king crab legs, which made the total $46 for the seafood. It also came with an appetizer (we got fried calamari) and side of fries. We wanted sweet potato fries, so they charged us extra (maybe $2). We also added corn for $.70 a piece. With all this food and four newcastle beers the total came out to $75 including tip. Pretty good deal for all this deliciousness if you ask me. We got cajun spicing on the seafood, medium spicy, which was decently spicy, even for this trio of Koreans. The shrimp was plump and juicy. The mussels were pretty good and the crab legs were standard. Definitely worth visiting at least once even just for the experience of eating out of a plastic bag without utensils or plates. read more

The seafood here seems fresher than Boiling Crab with less wait. The sauce is not as salty with bigger chunks of garlic.

My hubby actually likes this place better than Boiling Crab. The shrimp is large and perfectly cooked and the sauce is very tasty with a good amount of kick to it. Have to always order the sausage and the corn whenever I'm at one of these places, and they were both delicious. The peach tea has real peaches, though canned, but delicious none the less. Garlic fries were very garlicy but soo good. Best of all, the wait was only around 15 minutes. Great service, they kept on refilling our friends hot tea even though they were quite busy. Would definitely come back when we're in the area, especially since it's relatively close to disneyland. read more

Seafood in a bag, it's gonna get messy. Garlic butter creole sauced clams, mussels, crawfish with some veggies in a plastic bag. Everything served in a bag family style. Get some rice or bread for some carbs. This will be a tad not messy. Be careful on spice, medium is usually pretty spicy. read more

Claws is one of the best cajun places I've been to. Their shrimp and their sauce are very good and I love their cajun fries! I honestly think the quality is almost the same as Boiling Crab if not, better, so I suggest coming here and avoid the long lines at boiling crab. The staff is friendly also. read more

Well, the sauce is probably equally good, but as far as waiting, this place has a much smaller crowd, and they take reservations, and this alone makes it the better option since their sauce is just as delicious--except Claws' sauce is definitely spicier, which I don't mind at all since I love the spice. In addition, they offer so much more on their menu. also, they have happy hour before 6 pm M-F, which is 20% off appetizers and $1 of the bags of shell. read more

Dying to get over to Claws and get my fix of Gumbo. I still have never found any better Gumbo in the entire state, then what Claws has. And I will drive miles to get the real goods. Like a tortilla is to Mexico, Rice is for Asia. Black Eyed Peas and Gumbo is for a Southerner. I know even as a child of 6-7 years old and I Lived outside of New Orleans, I have loved it ever since. Claws has the best damn Gumbo west of the Mississippi. Your going to have a long drive to find anything better. If you know of any other places for Gumbo message me, I will be the judge. read more

Food was good but horrible service. We had a family dinner here for my little brothers 14th birthday my mom called to make reservations for 8 and was told there was automatically going to be a %15 gratuity charge for parties of 7 or more which was noted. Long story short they forgot many things that we ordered which were the corn potatoes in some bags & the baguette. & when my mom reminded one of the servers of the baguette he told her that the bread takes a little longer to come out.. But we never received the baguette my mom had to remind another server and she finally came out and told us that the ticket was lost . So not only did they not even make our read but the first server didn't even follow through to make sure our bread was being made. And to make things worse who ever made up our bill decided to make that %15 gratuity into an %18 . When asked to speak to the manager the server left and came back and all he said was my manager made it back down to %15 so who knows if the server even told the manager and if he did why didn't the manager come out? The hostess at this place look like they hate their life as soon as they see a customer waiting to be seated. My boyfriend and I came to have dinner here on Friday July 3 2015 and it was probably the worst customer service EVER. We were sat and waited about 20 minutes for someone to come and take our drinks .. And after they did it took the girl like 10 minutes to come back with them, after she took our order she told us they were changing sections and that our server would be with us in a minute.. That server never came and our food came out almost 45 minutes after we ordered it. We also asked a food runner for refills and he acted as he didn't hear my boyfriend calling for him politely.. He had to raise his voice a little because no one came to our table to check up. The food here is great but the service sucks, the staff is rude from the hostesses to the food runners. The only who was helpful was jeani very nice and attentive. I will definitely say that the food here is great I loved it but from now on I'm going to be sticking to boiling crab great food & great service there all the time!! read more

Out of four other Cajun/seafood joints I've been to in the last six months I'd have to rate Claws as one of the best by far. A lb. of garlic butter peeled shrimp, lychee iced tea, and garlic fries is what I had...all delicious. Didn't have anything from the fully stocked bar but maybe next time. The place was pretty busy as expected for a Saturday night but also clean which is always a plus. Service was ok with reasonable pricing. Lots of other sides I wanna try out next time. read more

If I could I would give this place 0 stars We were seated at 6:30 I don't remember our waiters name but he sucked!!! He was quick to ask us for our drinks and they came back quick We ordered before 7.....it was 7:30 ...no apprizers And we had already finished our drinks...our waiter???? Didn't even come to the table to ask if we were good or if we needed any refills. 8 o'clock came along and still no food and no refills so I see our Waiter finally and tell him "how much longer for our food to come?" He said oh let me check on it for you Why did I have to tell you to check it why didn't you go yourself and keep us updated??? 8:20 we get our food but He didn't even bring us our food it was another guy and he was the one getting us refills Once our waiter saw this guy was helping THEN he started asking if we were good and if we needed anything Our shrimp had no color and no taste you can tell they just shoved them in the sauce and handed them out. Back to our waiter...I want to say he came to our table 2 times the whole time we were there When we get our check ...automatically 18% tip is added for the waiter????? What waiter we didn't even have a waiter!!! We were a big party but we had spit checks..so this little fuck got like $30 bucks in automatic tips from us and didn't do shit...that's why they don't care if they have good customer service or not...they get their tips (and good tips) even if they don't do shit!!
