okay i give it 5 stars, the extra star because i don't have to wait forever just to eat here. first of all, i like it better than boiling crab because the seasoning is much lighter, they basically taste the same but the seasoning doesn't churn in your stomach after awhile like it does with boiling crab. i don't get that burning sensation and feeling like i'm sick when i eat here. second, there is a lot of variety in the menu. they even have like pasta, fried rice, fries, chicken wings, fried shrimp, okra (sp?) which is this vegetable thingy that's fried but really good, and other stuff. ALSO! they sell beer by the bulk, like 6 beers imported/non imported for either like 10-13 bucks. that's pretty good, kuz there's nothing i rather do than to sip on coronas and munch on some good seafood while watching the game! third, there are NO LONG LINES!!!! yes, that's right, i've come here to watch the NBA playoffs and i just breezed right thru the door without having to ask how long was the wait. there's always a few people that are already in the restaurant but not as crazy packed like boiling crab. next time you're forced to wait at boiling crab, think again! claws is right down the street from boiling crab! it's on brookhurst towards like chapman and stuff, near k-town. but yea, it's a good alternative, especially if you don't like feeling all nauseous from the heavy seasoning at boiling crab! p.s. so the place kinda rips off boiling crab, i wish they would have taken a more creative approach and made the restaurant their own unique style. but other than that, their food is good. the pirate statue guy kinda freaks me out though =/ read more

Love this place!!! This location is bigger than the previous one. We usually get 1 of the meal deals. Calamari is a must have. My favorite place to get peach iced tea. They have slices of peaches. I came here with two other people and we all agreed that for its price and flavor it was a category down when compared to Boiling crab. We all agreed the flavor was too salty and it was missing or lacking other essential key ingredients. Also, what made me wonder is WHY DOES THEIR CRAW FISH COST MORE PER A POUND COMPARED TO OTHER RESTAURANTS WHEN ITS LACKING FLAVOR. Also, we ordered a dozen oysters and we all agreed that the oyster was not fresh, nor plump and juicy, but rather flimsy and a bit dry. Our waitress was very friendly however, she did not check up on us. Every time we need something, I had to wait for her to come out from the kitchen and call her or I would stand up and literally search her myself. In conclusion, I rather wait in line at Boiling Crab for 2h30 than eat at the Claw. I apologize if I hurt anyone feelings, but I want them to improve on their flavor, price, and service because I'm tired of waiting in line at Boiling Crab. IMO this place is so much better than the other popular place. There's no crazy lines and no crazy long waits. The menu is a plus with the combo for a little over $30 and you have choices!! This place is excellent. By far the best seafood I have here in Orange County. I like it much better than places such as the Boiling Crab or the Kickin Crab. The ribs here are great as well and there are a nice variety of tea drinks that are also delicious. read more

11-6-2015 First and last time here. Wait wasn't too bad. They sat my family down (2 toddlers) my husband and dad. They didn't offer a bib like everyone had. Shrimp seemed skimpy. Our second basket of fries arrived when we had finished our pound of shrimp we each had. The server hardly came to check on us. They forgot the bread my dad had ordered. I spoke to the manager and he apologized. Gave us a courtesy of $6.90 off . Also gave my girls a small scoop of ice cream to share and some hard candy. The beer had a price on the menu and was charged something else. The women's restroom was leaking toilet water (all over the floor by the toilet) 4 girls that had gotten off work (employees) were at the bar getting drunk and giving my family dirty looks like we don't belong there. Needless to say I won't go back there. boiling crab is so much better. Better taste, better prices, better food, and good service. We spent $70 to be ignored and not even have our order completed. At the end they wanted to be all nice and kept asking if we needed anything. SORRY ISNT GOING TO MAKE IT BETTER. this place is good. it tastes exactly like, if not better, than boiling crab, and it is way less busy!!! i think the things are about the same price as well. plus they offer more stuff, but i haven't tried any of that stuff before. we ordered 2 lbs of crawfish, 1 lb of shrimp, cajun fries and some beers. we got it extra spicy and it was definitely not as spicy as very spicy at boiling crab - which is good, because very spicy was always too spicy for me but just spicy wasn't really spicy enough. anyway, they also put more sauce in teh bags which is nice too. all in all this place is good! i know by yelping it i risk ruining the best part which is the no-minute wait, but oh well. read more

Came here because it was 9pm and Boiling Crab opens until10pm. This place is open until 11pm on weekends. This is probably as close to Boiling Crab as you can get (in my opinion). The smell is the same and the seasonings are quite similar. We did not have to wait to be seated. which is a big plus. The service can be a tad slower than Boiling Crab's. If you some crawfish/shrimp etc but don't want to wait 30 mins to an hour then come here. Price is about the same. read more

I tried Claws for the first time with some of my cousins the other day. Since it was a Sunday night, the place was very crowded. The wait was a little too long because it ended up taking us almost an hour before we were seated. However, the food was delicious. We ordered 3 pounds of mussels, crawfish, and shrimp. This was more than enough to fill us up, with fries and chicken wings on the side as well. The passion fruit tea was amazing. I will definitely come back, but maybe just at a time where the restaurant is a bit less packed. read more

I came here last Friday with my sister and the dining experience was horrible. First off, their A/C was "broken" so it was like you're in a sauna and second, the food was terrible. We ordered the snails and one pound each of the crawfish and shrimp. The snails were ok. My sister got it because she loves sea snails but I am not a fan of the coconut sauce. On to the crawfish...or what I think were sea boogers. Yes, they are that small! I stopped after six or seven because it was not worth removing the shell only to see a tiny morsel on my fingers ugh It was flavorless and you can only taste the spiciness. The shrimps were big but once again the sauce was bland! Now I know why ppl are willing to wait over an hour for stupid Boiling Crab. I was also frustrated because I was sweating like a hog so it was pretty unpleasant. It was funny how the hostess first told us it was broken to then when a guy went to open the door she closed it and told him it was fixed. Liar! Be wary of her she's the one with the chola eyebrows sashaying in the front. The way she and the other host were dressed I thought we were dining at Hooters. This place is highly raved about, all I ever heard was you have to try claws it's amazing! So I finally did & was In for a surprise! First let's talk about environment. They have a couple of pirate memorabilia but not really themed, & the music was a joke for the atmosphere! Who enjoys eating to straight rap & hip hop, No one! So the atmosphere there is terrible! the food besides the shrimp being over cooked & literally have no sauce & flavor it's ok lol. No not really. They do have one really good thing though their fries are amazing! Maybe that's what their specialty really is! & they sell you the shrimp peeled for a extra 2 dollars, but I feel they force you to get them by making you shelled shrimp over cooked & hard to peel. I have eaten at Boiling Crab and Claws and do prefer Claws. Pretty much the same menu but no wait. Last night we had a 1 lb of clams and 2 lbs of shrimp. I recommend the "Cannonball" sauce. Its a mix of all 3 sauces. Spicy good and loaded with garlic. Dress super casual and do take the bib when offered or you will be wearing dinner home. Service can be spotty at best as they always seem to be under staffed. read more

My husband and I came here on a Saturday afternoon. We didn't order much, just fried calamari, 1 lb of shrimp, and 1 lb of King crab legs. At first, we wanted to order non-spicy Cannon ball but the waiter insisted on having us try the very mild level to add more flavor so we went with it. The fried calamari was good. However, when the second waiter came out with our seafood, it was wrong. The king crab leg bag had sausages in it even though we didn't order any. It was definitely a wrong order so we didn't eat any (this was after we verbally confirmed the seafood type and the spicy level with the waiter. He didn't mention anything about the sausages). We tried the shrimps and it was way too spicy. Two minutes later, the waiter came to our table asking if our King crab legs bag had sausages and we said yes. He then said it was okay and we could continue eating, he just wanted to confirm and then left. Shortly after that, he came back again and asked if he could take back the whole bag. Luckily, we still had not touched anything in that king crab bag when he asked. Later on, they gave us another bag of King crab legs. The sauce in the crab bag tasted nothing like the shrimp sauce. It was thicker, much more flavorful, and definitely less spicy, whereas the shrimp sauce was very spicy and watery. Overall, we liked the King crab legs and the bottomless passion fruit tea. They even gave us free tea refill in two separate cups (for me and my husband) before we left. But due to our first experience with Claws, I just don't think we will give it another try anytime soon. read more

I am writing this on behalf of my sister and her family. She was craving BBQ grilled corn on the cob and thinking about crawdads, I hopped onto www.yelp.com and searched "grilled corn on the cob" in Westminster and Garden Grove. This restaurant popped up and I read a review, looked at the location, and linked to their web site to check out their menu! I gave my info to my sister and later this evening (7ish), she told me about her takeout experience! She was very satisfied and will definitely want to go back again, but make the "How hot do you want it?" to be mild and not medium where she was telling me that not only her mouth was on fire, but her hands were too! I am interested in checking out this place. I went on a weekday for lunch, and my table was the only one there. Since there were no other customers at the time, all of the servers were horsing around, giggling, and shouting. It was pretty annoying, and I didn't really get to enjoy my food. The prices for the teas are seriously ridiculous. $4 something for a flavored tea?! That's unheard of! I recommend you going to one of the other million boba joints for something that's half the price and even better tasting. I grabbed some food to go for mini father's day lunch. I called in to place a pick up order. We just ended up getting 2 lbs of crawfish, 1 pound of shrimp (with the cannon ball seasoning) and sides of potato, sausage, and corn Despite getting the mild, the food burned my mouth. Maybe i can stand the heat, but i felt like my taste buds were burned. The crawfish wasn't impressive. They were miniscule. What a waste. Waited 2 hours because we had a big group so that is understandable. Waited another 45 minutes for our food to come out because service was really slow. By this time, it was 9pm and we were all starving. Usually when you are starving, the food tastes even better than when you are just hungry. I'm from NOLA so the style of cooking crawfish here is very different than over there. The sauce is all on the outside instead of the flavor being soaked into the meat itself. Anyway, this is the closest we have to the crawfish at home without having to make it ourselves. To my disappointment, the food was horrible! We ordered a variety of food and many of us ordered crawfish as well. The crawfish here was so GROSS!!!! It was not even close to what they make at boiling crab and it is more expensive than boiling crab! I will never go back nor will I recommend this place to anyone. read more

First time here, ordered king crab legs, 1 lb peeled shrimp, garlic fries, and sweet potato fries. Everything was absolutely fabulous and delicious. The crab was cooked absolutely perfectly! I cracked open the shell on one side and pulled the crab meat out all in one piece and it was soft and just perfect. Sauce was delish and full of flavor. Fries were cooked just right. Upon entering, my friend and I were welcomed by a hefty pirate effigy as if to say "Ahoy, me matey!" The wooden, planked walls were caricatured and scribbled on by obvious regulars and employees. There were only two other customers sitting at the bar area. My friend and I were craving sea food and I heard that these diminutive Cajun eateries were all the rage in the OC. We sat down and were greeted by a smiley, polite waitress. We each had the strawberry lemonade which had real strawberries at the bottom, very flavorsome. We were 2 small girls with 2 big appetites so we ordered the Cajun Fries, 1 lb. of King Crab legs, 1 lb. of shrimp and 1 lb. of crawfish. The King Crab legs were seasoned in lemon pepper, Cajun and garlic seasonings. We asked to have the shrimp and crawfish combined in Cajun, spicy seasoning. Before we were served a large piece of white paper was placed on our table as a tablecloth and long plastic bibs were tied around our necks. The waitress then plopped a basket full of napkins and wet naps on our table. To my surprise, 2 plastic bags with red liquid-y gel blended with small creatures inside were handed to us. This was our meal. No silverware necessary (or available). This was an amusing and messy way to eat. We ripped the bags open and dug in. At first you feel like you should be careful and not get too gooey, but it's so tasty that you forget about all that and end up with red-toned hands and lips. I've never had crawfish, but heard you are to eat the meat inside the tail. You can also suck the guts out of the head, if you so desire. I couldn't help but feel distressed that these little creatures died so I can consume not but 1/5 of their body length. But, I'm no vegan so I didn't think twice. The shrimp was easy to peel and scrumptious. Who knew 1 pound amounted to only 3 crab legs? Anyway, by the end of our meal my lips stung of spice and my belly was full of undersea morsels. My tongue and craving were completely satisfied. We paid around $50.00 total, including tip. Overall, it was a great experience and will probably go again. read more

I waited to write a review until I actually went to the Boiling Crab so I could compare the two. I wouldn't call Claws a rip off of BC... since these guys do it...SO MUCH BETTER! The BC was fine...Claws is better in every way. More Seafood Choices, Bigger Menu, Stronger THICKER Seasonings that really coat the seafood, and when I went..No Waiting. Unfortunately the BC is only about 10 minutes from me....Claws is about a 40 minute drive. I wish it were the other way around. Their Strawberry lemonade is terrific also. I have been here many times before, and thought that the quality of food was decent, but the crawfish that I received yesterday was ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. All of them were either gray or black. It is obvious that they are serving us rotten crawfish. The service seems to be going down hill too. I will NEVER EVER be going back to this restaurant again. If you saw how disgusting the crawfish looked, you wouldn't either. Its best to avoid restaurants that are willing to compromise on food quality. Claws is alright, although I still prefer Cajun Corner. I love that Claws has big portions when it comes to sides and a really large variety. One order of fries is really large, but they just taste like fries with cayenne pepper on top. Very little flavor. The shrimp is fresh and large, but spicier than I would have expected. Visited a few weekends ago and was pleasantly surprised with the utensil-free dining experience. It's def. messy so leave your nice threads at home. My homemade strawberry lemonade was refreshing and offered great balance for the spiciness of the seafood. I had the crawfish and shrimp with mild cannon ball seasoning.
