The atmosphere is fun and inviting. The food is really good. One suggestion: Shop around for a better gluten free pancake mix. There are so many good ones out there. 30 minute wait for a Sunday at 11:15. Not bad so we walked around. Wish they would update their system to a call when table is ready as we missed our table. They sat us next no problem. We ordered the French toast, chicken and waffles and I think the dish was called Bettys Bowl - it was a layer of hash browns, biscuit, cheese omelette with gravy on top. French Toast was bad. It was basically griddled bread with absolutely no custard/egg mixture. Super dry and very disappointing. The waffle was a waffle, nothing exciting about it. However the fried chicken on top is very very good. Very flavorful. The bowl was just OK. We had to ask for more gravy as everything was just dry and somewhat bland. They did give us a small dish of pico de gallo on top which was nice. Overall if you're a foodie try somewhere else as I would not recommend coming here for breakfast. It is very much diner food - do not expect great coffee. Be prepared to add a lot of sugar and milk to make it drinkable. read more

Stopped in for breakfast, wasn't super impressed. The staff was very nice, and granted it was only breakfast so maybe the lunch is better. I tend to think of a Belgian waffle as being slightly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, this was just kind of a sponge, though the flavor was good. Biscuits and gravy were subpar, the gravy was fine but the biscuits both my wife and I thought resembled bread that had been mushed, didn't have a biscuit texture at all, just a bit dense and bread like. Also, the music was really loud, this might not bother the younger crowd, but just be aware if you come here it's loud music, today it was 80s. So for some people that aren't that picky about breakfast food, probably is a fine place for them, but if you're a bit more into breakfast food and getting something beyond your average Denny's level food, this might not be the place for you, at least our experience today. read more

Today we were sat outside we ordered our smoothie drinks right away never showed up because according to the boy it was never put in the system. This place is amazing, a very cute little diner-esque atmosphere. They have bar seating and a few tables, good for parties of 2-4 people max just with the tight space. The service was lovely, AND they do have a to-go window next door to the restaurant if you wanted to order something quick for takeout. Drinks: No alcohol, but they serve juices, smoothies, milkshakes, espressos, and coffee options. Food: A good option for breakfast and lunch primarily. Everything here is incredible and made fresh, there is something here for everyone and every diet option. I ordered an cappuccino The acai bowls are delicious, fresh, and crisp. The eggs we ordered were cooked to perfection, the hash browns were AMAZING and some of my favorite, they need a little salt/pepper, ketchup, and hot sauce but the texture and consistency was there. Great customer service first and foremost. Helped my father get settled in from his wheelchair and sat him in front of the floor fan since it was a hot day. My wife and I came to Clayton's after strolling around Coronado. This is a great little spot that services a mix of everything. I actuslly ordered the steak dinner and it was HUGE. Great value and came with a few sides. The steak was slightly overcooked but not by much, the portion was well worth it. My wife ordered the sandwich special and she also enjoyed it. So good. My family loves this place because their breakfast is so good but we don't go often because they're always so busy. But this morning it was just me and fitting one person at the counter is faster than trying to get 4 in a booth. I woke up this morning with a craving for biscuits and gravy and knew that I just had to go to Clayton's. They have both a meal and a side of biscuits and gravy. One comes with eggs and something else but I just get the side because its two huge biscuits topped with white sausage gravy. My one issue is they use a little too much cracked black pepper for me. Other than that the biscuits are tall and dense but fluffy at the same time and the gravy is nice and smooth and you can't miss the sausage. This place is great though because you get a ton of good food for a very reasonable price. I got a mocha and my biscuits for $12. You'll never leave here regretting anything other than maybe eating too much. read more

This place is awesome! I came here on vacay for my birthday and I stumbled upon this place. The atmosphere is soo cute--it reminded me of the diner in that Cinderella movie with Hilary Duff lol. The waiters/waitresses are all very nice and helpful. I had their eggs Benedict, which I put together in a sandwich with two muffins. It came with a side of hash browns too. It was a really good sandwich (mind you guys, I really hate eggs lol), I'd definitely recommend getting it if you don't mind getting messy while eating lol. My husband and I used the togo order window for coffee and sweet treats. The coffee was not made well. There were clumps of mocha powder in the drink, and my white mocha probably didn't even have syrup in it to begin with. Only thing good there was the pup cup for my dog. I don't see how this place has 4 stars. We had the BLt which was decent, the turkey and havarti which had a hair in it, and the kids chicken tenders which were decent. The server was inattentive, forgot our drinks, & didn't refill waters. We sat inside, There were an innumerable amount of flies around our table and most of the others as well. I'm unsure what could've been done about that since it's sort of open air. but there were so many that something more than what they were doing (a blower over the front door) needed to be done. Finally, I get that they're going for a 50's motif, but it looked and felt like much of the grime from that era was never removed. read more
