This review if for their to-go coffee! Make your way around to the right side of the building and you'll find where to place to-go orders. The inside of the diner is so cute and retro, but we just came for a quick pick-me-up. I got their matcha chai with a quarter sweetness and it was so good. My friend got their pumpkin spice latte, and at first it was WAY too sweet. The syrup at the bottom wasn't dissolved at all. But, they kindly remade the order and it was perfect. I've always loved Clayton's and the vintage vibe and ambiance here. I love the location and the food. This is gonna sound silly but the vintage style coffee cups are my favorite thing. Service is great, especially when you consider how busy they can get being on this touristy island. Tourists aren't the nicest people, let's be honest. Clay's burrito and the chicken and waffle are both really delicious and quite filling as well. the coffee is also really yummy too. the wait staff are nice enough but in can definitely feel a little chaotic and crowded when it is busy as the space between tables is not very large. it is a little expensive but I would not say overpriced as it is quite filling and delicious. this is generally where we get breakfast when in coronado as it is in a great location in terms of proximity to the downtown portion of coronado as well as the beach and the del and the food is pretty good. Having been a regular of Clayton's since a child, I can say that it hasn't lost its appeal. While it may be bustling and tightly packed, the small cafe is a staple in Coronado, with its unique take on delicious diner classics. The ambiance is kitschy and clean with a nice touch of the fresh and homey, not to mention the subtle vintage charm. The service is lacking slightly depending on who you get, but that's not exactly all the time as our waiter was probably just having a bad day, since usually the service is great and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The unprofessional staff never asked us how many tables we needed (the chief officer and staff are lying). 3. It's common sense for anyone with a high school degree even for a so called Chief Officer to figure out that a party of 8 people would not fit on a tiny table. That's not our job, it's yours, be professional about it and take responsibility. Most importantly stop lying. 4. Clearly the staff along the owner have zero customer service and do not care about families and children. It shameful to see them lying and unwilling to apologize. I haven't been to a diner in forever, so it was really fun to check this place out! Honestly, I feel like this is more of a dessert spot because of all the shake and pie options they have - but the food wasn't bad! I got the sliders, which I really liked, they came with Fries which in my opinion weren't that great, but at least they were seasoned, which I always appreciate :) my mom's boyfriend got a cheeseburger and he liked it too but it was messy so definitely ask for extra napkins if you get it. This place was amazing. The chili cheese fries are so flavorful and very unique in its taste. I had the smores mocha drink and it was so good, the right amount of milk, coffee, and whip cream. One of my timeless favorites! My husband and I have been going here for years and they never disappoint. The club and crinkle cuts are my go to and although not pictured, the ranch is the perfect dip. The banana cream pie is literally the best I've ever had and one of the reasons we always come back. It's almost always busy and has a wait but it's well worth it. We went in today and was told it was about a 45-60 minute wait but was seated in less than 15 minutes, I'd highly recommend just waiting nearby instead of walking around because if they call you're name and you're not there they will move onto the next. Service is great and although it's super busy they kept our coffees full the whole time. Ambiance is retro and they have a classic coffee kind of feel.
