Truly the BEST scrambled eggs I have ever had in a restaurant - and I have had eaten scrambled eggs all over the world. The hash browns were also exceptional...cooked well but still moist and layered with flavor. And the waffle wasn't far behind in terms of excellence - cooked to a brown perfection with a robust flavor. Just arrived yesterday, 5/15/2023 and this was the first dinner we wanted to visit. I absolutely loved the CG when I lived on the east end of the Quarters, but will never go again! I tried entering from Bourbon Street, which was the entrance on my last visit, but of course I couldn't since now the entrance is on Dumaine. I have a hearing loss and tinnitus, so it can be difficult to hear especially thru glass. The woman at the counter was saying something to me (full of ugly bitch body language and facial attitude) which I couldn't understand. (I thought that they were closed for some odd reason.) It was a nice lady, Annie, from across Bourbon that informed us that the door was now on Dumaine. Once I opened the door, I was greeted with a ton of very rude attitude! "Don't be coming in here with attitude this morning! I don't have time for that!" Once she saw that I had a small carry-on bag, I was totally dismissed and not even asked what I might be ordering or if I was requesting a to-go order. "Oh, you have luggage!?! I have a small establishment and don't have room for that! Have a nice day," as she looked extremely condescending at us and flapped her hand like a bird. After finding not so good food in New Orleans we found some locals that told us to definitely go here! We were able to walk to the restaurant as we were staying on Bourbon Street, otherwise parking would be quite difficult. It is a small restaurant with a hometown cafe feel some may call it a hole in the wall. Menu was simple we ordered just what we wanted and everything came back perfect and hot! There were no complaints AND the prices are more than reasonable! Customer service was excellent! They were friendly and they joked around and made everyone that came in feel welcome! What a cute corner diner that's open 24 hours! Have I mentioned yet that they serve their entire menu all day?! The patrons waiting outside, who were also from our home town, told us we could take their next spot in line, so we walked in. The manager, or whoever he was, screamed at us "Get out. The poor employee, he has to seat people, serve people, ring up people and box the food, hope he's paid well. Took 1-2 bites and left it alone. Please redo that recipe! NOW THE CLUB Sandwhich was definitely delicious and very large portion I would highly recommend that !!! To go service was easy no hassle ! If I go back think I'll try the omelette or the breakfast burger like some of the other reviews but they do not do egg white only omelettes which all you have to do is "up charge" because they are more expensive. We found this place purely by accident, we had been checking out bars and having drinks when we saw this place and knew we needed some food. I love places like this, throwbacks or even themed restaurants keep me happy. This place was like a 50's diner. Had the soda shop set up, only 3 people working, one cleaning up and keeping dishes down, once working the grill, and one doing all the other stuff, stocking tables, checking people out, waiting tables. The menus is basic but good. They have clever quips on it and it warns you that you will be waiting. Here is something I loved, I can see when it is busy and I know I will be waiting a moment in that case but this place tells you due to his business model and customer focus you will be waiting. If I am told up front I am more then happy to do so. Its when you avoid me or lie as a restaurant that I get upset. Tell me the wait for a table is 15 mins then 45 mins later I am seated. Awful. My wife and I had a table, She wanted to add that while the food was good the bathroom was a huge issue. To be fair she judges bathrooms like most people judge a kitchen. In her word NOLA has a awful bathroom issue all around but here due to everything else being good it stuck out more. You have to go through the kitchen and dishwashing area, then outside across a smelly, trashy, outside area to a restroom the size of a airplane bathroom. In her words "SAW levels of foul" Anyway this place has charm and the workers handled the insane amount of people coming in or wanting to really well. Turns out it was the cashiers/Reg/Waiter persons first night alone, not being trained and he did great. He handled it WAY better then I would have. The burger was large and reminded me of Freddy's Steakburgers more then a typical burger. The fries were great, I had a Dr. Pepper which you could not find most places. The staff was friendly though the lady at the grill was way to busy to talk to people. They have a large window right out front and people seem to use it as a stage, they would act out or do weird stuff. Being from Austin it reminded me of Esthers Follies but just random people. No idea why as there is no sign from the outside to suggest to do this. It is 24/7 which was nice and the food was good and needed after a night of drinking. We had done several NOLA restaurants and having a nice burger and fries at what is still a pretty local place was a nice change though everywhere we ate was good. Greasy spoon hole in the wall that is cheap and open 24/7 to help soak up all the booze one consumes on Bourbon Street. Pretty much the only true diner in the area. Since 1939, and looks the part. Small and gritty with a nice/patient/understanding staff, this is the kind of joint you roll into during the wee hours of the morning in a drunken drooling stupor to order up some breakfast, a greasy burger, coffee, and some tater tots to recover. I enjoy these kinds of places. A piece of Americana from simpler times. Small spot with a few tables and some counter seating. The grill is right in front so you will be covered in the smokiness of the food being fried up. It at once smells a bit off-putting and amazing at the same time. Like you need to be here. Like you need to walk out smelling like week old fried food. Take in the aroma in all it's glory. Breathe in deeply. As for the food? Actually not too shabby, just don't expect a gourmet experience. It's down and dirty diner eats in it's most simplistic form. Our breakfasts and coffee were decent enough and did the trick. Sent us back on our way for more debauchery on Bourbon Street.
