This place has always intrigued me especially after having walked by it hundreds of times during our trips to NOLA. On Sunday we finally stopped in and were not disappointed, great place for food that is affordable, tasty, and fast. I had the breakfast burger which includes bacon, crispy hash browns, and an egg on top of it. The moment I saw the cook slam the massive burger patty on the flat top I just knew that I had made the right choice. It was GREAT! My daughter had the chicken fried steak which I had a chance to taste and it was great, especially the white gravy. We will most definitely be back here during our future trips to New Orleans and thank you Edward for the great service. read more

I feel I must lead with one overriding fact: this was the greasiest food I have ever tried, bar none... and I've eaten plenty of cheap Chinese in my day! I ordered an omelette with onions and mushrooms, with a side of hash browns and a biscuit. This sounds delicious in theory. And to be completely honest I can't say that it was terrible. The taste was fine, and the biscuit was excellent. But those eggs, man! So. Much. Oil. When I pressed on the omelette, a pool of grease would form beneath my finger, I kid you not. It took every napkin at my table to soak up even half of it. Yes, I patted it down; no way was I gonna ingest all that. I take issue with the prices as well. You can't simply order a veggie omelette for a set price, you must "build your own." The starting price, for plain eggs and two sides is $5.49, which is great, but when you begin to add your mix-ins, it gets pricey. Mushrooms and jalapenos (NOT expensive ingredients btw) are $1.25 each, and onions are 75 cents. Cheese is $1 and if you want meat, it's $1.69. See what I mean? It adds up quick. This would make serviceable drunk food. When you've had enough liquor, you don't notice the oil content of whatever else you put in your mouth, and they are open 24/7. Good to know if you're ever starving in the Quarter at 3 AM, but I wouldn't recommend them for a regular sober meal--not unless you have exceptional digestive capabilities. read more

Go down Bourbon Street through all the loud music and raucous carrying-on, go two blocks further, no flashing lights or filling-loosening bass, and on the corner is Clover Grill. One short order cook (who was masterful and fun to watch) and one waiter (another prep cook / busser and doubtlessly the late night security too; dude filled the doorway shoulder to shoulder, do not start drama in here). Sat at counter and it could be 1950 except that the waiter takes your order on a handheld gizmo that he has to answer 24 questions to get to a hamburger with everything, bleu cheese, hold the pickles and a Pepsi please. The food is not fast food despite being honest-to-goodness fast food. But watching the cook and soaking up the ambiance (and the free refill on my Pepsi) made the time go by enjoyably. Really, the cook was on the money and didn't miss a beat having about 20 dupes on his wheel. My bleu burger came (and yes it was cooked under a hubcap on the flattop) and it was pretty good. But the bun was neglected, there's no salamander so the cook can't toast them. Tasty, but underwhelming. Other items looked good the chicken fried steak & eggs, for instance. I'll be back. It is definitely worth a trip for the ambiance and reasonably priced not so fast fast food. 4 stars for good food and better ambiance. Went back for the special and it was very good. It always seems to be an event when I get to Clover Grill, and I hate that special abbreviated pink menu. I get it, volume dictates, but unless you live there you never get to experience "The Regular" menu Open 24/7 its an option for late night eats, although breakfast tends to be bleak as all the patrons and staff seem to be hung over, and in very close proximity to each other in this very small dining room. The window say's "Worlds Best Hamburger" it's not, but it's not horrible either, just really expencive for the quality and portion. read more

The place is small and you might have a wait to be seated BUT the food was worth every bit of the 30 minutes. The burger I had was made just right! It was well done and still juicy with great flavor. Fresh veggies (lettuce and tomatoes) iykyk that makes a big difference who wants wilted lettuce and soggy tomatoes on a perfectly made burger. Now I ordered onion rings for the side and when I tell you those rings were made in heaven and sent down to me! I have never had onion rings this good before. We walked in and waited at a table for about fifteen minutes while some guy that I assumed was there to take our order fumbled with his phone. I guess we didn't look "woke" enough so we were ignored. The bathroom tile on the walls I could ignore, but the mayo and ketchup cups mixed in with the French fries on the floor was disgusting and looked like it had been there for days.
