5/10/26 Oh wow! They serve Gaviña (roasted)gourmet coffee, reason I think it'll be GREAT! Service is polite & trite but the coffee? Hot DanG!!! If it's Gaviña roasted-- WoWzaH I marveled at the sight of this coffee shop, Hubby would've fallen in love with the place had he set foot in it. It was quiet, like a library. One Yelper said it had been serving the community since before Strbx took over. That peaked my interest--so I'm here. Ordered the Spicy Moroccan mocha- boy, blew my socks off, spicy, but oh so good! Smooth, as I expected it to be. Eons ago, one of our clients was a direct descendant of the Gaviña roasting company & gifted us bags of their products daily -- I savored it every bit. They proudly honor their coffee. Parking is free but limited. Menu is extensive. If you live a good cup of Joe, come here & support.

Coffee Cartel is a long-standing coffee shop in Riviera Village in Redondo Beach and there is a sign stating that this is Redondo's first authentic coffee house established in 1992. This coffee shop hosts open mic and poetry nights every Wednesday. [Parking]: There is a small free private parking lot, but don't expect available spots during weekends. There should be plenty of metered parking spots available unless Redondo Beach is hosting a festival weekend or a busy Sunday Riviera Village Farmers Market. [Atmosphere & service]: Welcoming and spacious indoor seating with sofa chairs and bookshelves - you can really see the decor this place has built up over time. The cashier was friendly. [Amenities]: No dogs are allowed indoors, but there are plenty of outdoor tables and benches. [Menu]: The menu is slightly confusing and hard to read - it probably can use a bit of cleanup or a makeover. Some of Yelp's highlighted drinks include Spicy Moroccan Mocha and Matcha Latte. They also have other drinks like Lavender Latte or Chai Latte. *** Matcha Latte (small & hot - $5.75): A solid matcha drink with the right amount of milkiness and matcha flavor. *** Even though Riviera Village has more coffee shops like Hi-Fi Espresso and Offset Coffee Roasters, this is still a good old local go-to coffee shop and a great first-date spot with plenty of retail shops to see around Riviera Village.

Had the strawberry matcha which was so good. Service was also wonderful--would give it five stars just for this and would definitely be back. Also love the ambiance--perfect for getting stuff done and lots of seating options. Very cutely decorated inside. I brought my laptop which worked out well because they have outlets as well as wifi. Only con is parking which is typical in the Riviera Village area. They do have a lot which is a huge plus but just fills up quickly so you may have to drive around for a bit to check nearby lots as well. Overall worth a visit and this is one of my new local fave spots now.

I used to go to Coffee Cartel when I was in high school but haven't been in years. The place still looks the same - Relaxing! I got their chai latte which tastes like horchata, sweet and fitting for this holiday season. Parking could be difficult during peak hours but they do have a small free parking lot in front of their store. I think the worker was telling me that they have poetry night once a week and stay open till 9 pm, but they generally close at 6 pm. This is a great place to hang out, study, work, or catch up.

Pic of the street facing window. Much cooler and old school dusty retro vibe in there.

I really love this spot. It reminds me of chilling with friends at our local coffee shop in the early 00s or 1990s! The books, the antiques the unique chairs. How it feels old band REAL. It has a real personality! Patrons are kind and ok sharing what game they are playing when asked politely and honor the noise level of the space. Staff are very chill & also down to earth. I LOVE THE OPEN MICS ON WEDNESDAYS!! It's a supportive youthful crowd but OGs like me are there too hehe. Although this will all sound contradictory it's a very relaxing, exciting, deep, funny, experimental, messy, polished, eye opening, lax, experience. The people I brought now go and perform when they can! THE ONLY THING THAT CONFUSES ME is that on IG the open mic days are listed on a couple different posts as happening Wednesdays and Thursdays. Which is true but then they each have different locations and I think one had aa timeframe that was an hourl than it actually takes place? Posts and information about the open mics are also pretty scarce. locations. I DO know Wednesdays 7-9 are on. But Thursdays?? A friend of mine called to find out if Thursday open mics were happening over the span of two week. Nobody called him back over that time. So not sure about that. Summary: go if you heart chill 90s grunge vibe coffee shops. Awesome Wednesdays = inspiring scene and a smorgasbord of acts with a very youth driven supportive talent show vibe. Gets a bit Venice backpackers "lost boys" vibe after the show hehe.

DELICIOUS DRINKS with fast service. This cafe is such a great place if you want to study or read a good book. It's peaceful and quiet with a cozy vibe. Pros: BEST drink I've had in a LONG time- perfect temperature and the right amount of flavor. Over all 5 stars on the barista skills. Cons: I didn't get a welcoming vibe. The service could have been friendlier, maybe it was a long day for them or they had other stuff on their mind.

This is such a charming little spot to get some work done. There's a fair amount of seating, though all the best nooks are usually claimed by the early birds. My favorite hideouts are the single tables tucked between the bookshelves--perfect for a bit of quiet productivity and light literary ambience. Their coffee is solid, though the lavender latte isn't really my cup of tea--literally. Not bad, just not for me. I'm more of a tea person anyway, and luckily, they have a surprisingly thoughtful selection. The atmosphere is cozy and calm, ideal for focused work... with a bit of casual people-watching on the side (guilty). I'll definitely be coming back for the tea, the vibes, and the occasional mental break disguised as "observation."

I've been coming here since I've moved down from South Pass. The coffees and service is always consistently great. For the pastries you have to come earlier to enjoy fresh. I love the out door seating. I never sat inside as I'm not one of those homeless office(s) persons who capture free internet service. But, to each their own, right? Lol. Anyway, for locals or visitors from out of the area, it is a great place to get to know. I Love the area, the coffees, its close proximity to the beaches and to the sunshine. Enjoy!

I had an iced lavender latte and it was delicious! This spot is in a prime location with sooo many cute shops and restaurants and right by the beach!! They only have pastries but they're good. The staff is super sweet and the coffee came out quick.

    Mouse

guys I love you so much. Like I love coffee cartel for studying and getting work done. This is a staple in the village. But there was a mouse scampering about under the table next to me. this is literally my fav place ever so I'm so sad to see that. It was a cute mouse. But I know not everyone else enjoys seeing mice near a place they study or serve food and drinks. I hope this can be fixed with some extermination.

Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Beautiful ocean breeze and view of Nick Cage.

Great coffee and great ambiance. This is a bit of a time capsule in the best way possible. I wish I lived within walking distance.

    Cafe mocha and a cappuccino.

It is as good now as it was in 1996. Great service, great coffee, atmosphere is ecclectic, old school flair. I love this old haunt of mine!

    Rose P.

Stopped into Coffee Cartel for a little content + caffeine moment and let me just say--that cherry rose tea latte with oat milk was giving. Floral, creamy, and just the right amount of indulgent. My friend had a matcha latte (don't ask me what kind--something green and gorgeous) and we both were genuinely impressed. We asked for our drinks "for here" hoping for some of those cute cups for photo ops (because, obviously)... but were handed disposables instead. Womp. Also, I had to ask twice for water and finally just handed him the pitcher--he was sweet about it, but still. That said, the vibe is classic Redondo--laid-back, surfer-adjacent, and the drinks really were that good. I'll absolutely be back. Just give a girl a proper cup next time.

Are there outlets to plug in your laptop while studying?

Yes, usually. You just have to look behind all the dirt, trash and peoples belongings that typically litter the floor and corners here.

Can you buy the tea blends to bring home? If so how much are they?

If you're talking about the flower teas that's displayed right in front of the register, you could buy the tea bags for about $1.50 each

Because there was only one other person there, the lady behind the counter said she would find me, which she did. She delivered my drink first. Afterwards, she personally delivered my avocado toast with a side salad, served on a wooden chopping block. It all looked good. Well presented. From the first bite of my avocado toast, it was delicious because of the freshly baked bread. A nice, thick dark bread. It was piled on with freshly chopped avocados that kept falling off the bread, topped with pickled radish, tomatoes, and pine nuts. Parking: There's plenty of free, shared lot parking in the back.

DineLA Food & Drink Order ($15): Breakfast Plate: Blueberry Cinnamon Pancakes with 2 Bacon Strips & 2 Eggs (sunny-side up) $15.95 Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte $6.95 Server/Bartender: Andrew I have been a long time fan of Kirari West Bake Shop when it opened with much fanfare as a 100% gluten-free Japanese bakery with treats that defy the common undesirable traits of gluten-free goods: dense, dry, &/or gritty. When Kirari West Bake Shop (refer to Review #290) opened sister bakery, Confections by Kirari West, a couple of years ago, I bookmarked them for a visit but didn't get around to it until I saw them on 2026 DineLA. The confections bakery also sits in King Harbor Plaza, but south of its sister between Glaze Craze & King Harbor Spa, serving all-day breakfast, burger, sandwiches, & pizzas with teas, coffees, & smoothies. According to Andrew, KWBS bakes bread for CBKW & CBKW bakes treats & doughnuts for KWBS. Still not quite understanding the difference because KWBS also serves breakfast but in sandwiches & french toasts, & paninis, sandwiches, & salads. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Initially focused solely on baked goods: artisan breads, scones, & Bake-At-Home gluten-free flour mixes, CBKW has evolved their menu to include sandwiches, pizza, quinoa bowls, & smoothies. The DineLA menu offered 3 options, & I deliberated between pancakes & chicken burger. I chose the Blueberry Cinnamon Pancakes because they looked fluffy & divine in the owner pic; it includes 2 Bacon Strips & 2 Eggs (cooked sunny-side up). And picked an Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte with less ice for my drink. It was quiet for an early lunch, & a couple of ladies walked in after I finished ordering. The bakery cafe has its cozy charm with a lovely black & white mural on the right long wall that's great for selfies or social posts. There's 4 2-tops & counter seating facing the plaza/parking lot, no restroom (assuming sister KWBS will let you use theirs), & plenty of parking though it'll be challenging during lunch & dinner rush with so many eateries in the plaza. Andrew makes an awesomely refreshing Strawberry Matcha Latte that rivals those from boba shops! Balanced sweetness with earthy, grassy matcha & generous dollops of real, sweet strawberry purée... soooooo good! Though smaller & a bit pricier than boba shops, it's a top-notch drink. My pancakes came shortly after; smells great but looks nothing like the pic, not fluffy, not golden. I love eating pancakes no matter the time of day, & these Blueberry Cinnamon Pancakes had comforting notes of cinnamony warmth with random sweet bursts of blueberries. The texture is notably moist & airy, & not reminiscent of typical gluten-free foods which are dry & dense. Typical bacon & eggs, nothing unusual... I prefer thick cut bacon & on the crisper side, but the eggs were perfectly cooked, the whites were set with a runny yolk & crisp, brown edges. It was just enough to satisfy my hunger & quench my thirst. I'm lucky that I don't have any food allergies or restrictions. People with celiac disease require a gluten-free diet, & cooking/baking challenges stem from the lack of gluten for moisture, elasticity, & structure. Customers should know that Confections by Kirari West is a dedicated gluten-free bakery, so there's no worries of cross-contamination. I don't know how Chef Hiro Saito creates this tasty, gluten-free deliciousness here & KWBS... he uses high quality rice flour instead of wheat to create his delectable pastries. On 07/2025, CBKW along with sister KWBS were both designated as a Blue Zones Project Approved Restaurant. This means they're certified to offer healthier, longevity-focused menu options based on plant-slant & whole-food principles like those in Okinawa, Japan or Sardinia, Italy. Quality ingredients... craftsmanship... & sincerity... check, check, & check!! Yeah, I got you in my corner Confections by Kirari West! So first things first, be aware that this Paris Baguette is actually inside Hannam Chain Supermarket at Village Del Amo on the southwest corner of Torrance and Hawthorne. I didn't know it at the time, so I circumnavigated the plaza, looking for Paris Baguette signage like I usually do for the other standalone locations. After stopping my car somewhere in the plaza, I had to double-check the location to be inside the Hannam Chain Supermarket, which I had just literally passed by minutes ago. D'oh! lol I hadn't even heard of Hannam Chain Supermarket, so I took some time to explore the store even though Paris Baguette is literally closest to the entrance. The overall selection of baked goods kind of disappointed me because it felt like there were fewer choices of pastries here compared to the other locations I've been to before. However, oddly enough, they had more selections available! I think it's because they have time stamps listed on each pastry so that the pastries are inside the display case for no more than 4 hours. I thought the pastries would have remained good at least until the end of the day, so to hear of their 4 hour shelf life was a bit surprising to me. For the record, I've been to several other Paris Baguettes before, but this was the first time I noticed these time stamps. Even though the variety of pastries was not as much compared to the other standalone locations, I still had a difficult time deciding which pastry to get! However, I noticed a new flavor of a supreme croissant I hadn't seen before: pink velvet. I've heard of red velvet, but not pink, and presuming that this is a seasonal offering for Valentine's Day, I figured it would be the perfect opportunity to try one before that special day. They had other supreme croissant flavors like chocolate and salted caramel pretzel, but I'm sure those flavors will be offered for much longer than the pink velvet. I do remember trying a strawberry supreme croissant from the Cerritos location, so perhaps after Valentine's Day, that would take the place of the pink velvet. After grabbing one of two Pink Velvet Supreme Croissants left in the display case, I made my way around and to the register. Phone in hand, I had the Paris Baguette app pulled up to redeem my reward. Actually, a good part of me had thought that this location inside Hannam Chain wouldn't honor my reward because for Tous Les Jours, the locations inside Hmart wouldn't be eligible for earning points or redeeming rewards. Luckily, Paris Baguette is not Tous Les Jours, and I was able to redeem my reward with no trouble. The cashier who rang me up was pretty friendly as well. She placed my Pink Velvet Supreme Croissant in a small paper bag and wished me a good day. While there are a handful of tables inside the food hall portion of Hannam Chain, most were occupied by customers of other eateries, so I simply went outside to enjoy my free sweet treat. The pink velvet ruby chocolate that covered the top portion of the round croissant didn't have nearly as much flavor, though the Valentine's sprinkles on top did make for a nice touch at least. Also, the custard cream inside didn't taste like anything at all! It wasn't bad, but it makes me wonder how much more flavorful the salted caramel pretzel would have been. I'll be sure to get that on my next visit to a Paris Baguette! I got the croissant about 2.5 hours after they were prepared, so maybe they would have tasted better had I gone 2 hours earlier? Lastly, I'm kind of shocked that this is pretty much the only Paris Baguette location in the South Bay. With how expansive a city like Torrance is, you would think they'd have at least a second location elsewhere like in Hmart. Otherwise, the next closest location would be in Long Beach, which literally just opened at The Pike Outlets. They close at 8:30 and I came in 2 hours before. The pastries leftover were scooched over and the labels did not match entirely what they were. It was difficult to know what I was picking up onto the tray. There was also a small fruit fly or gnat flying around inside the bakery case as well. The icing of the orange donut thing also got stuck to the box and we had to scrape it off... Out of 4 pastries none of them were really that good, it really made me not want to come back. I also ordered a plain iced coffee and the coffee quality is not good at all. Tastes like it was made from a Mr coffee machine at home. Service was friendly. She explained each pastry when we asked what we picked up. Small location inside the market. Parking in the plaza. Restrooms are located within the building.
