Wow, this place really misses the mark. At first the waitress tries to sit us at a dirty table. There is several right next to it that are clean. She persisted to tell me she'd have to change sections if we wanted another table. Personally I like a clean table when I go eat. We waited several minutes before we even got a waitress. At least 10 minutes. Then when I asked for something she never got it and I had to ask another waiter who got it right away. The food, not up to par. The breakfast was terrible. Eggs benedict was the worst we ever tasted. Egg was hard as a brick and cooked all the way through. They were out of grits, french toast among other things. Seemed slightly upset when other customers asked when the bins would be refilled. Others seemed way unhappy with service and food as well. The salmon and fish selections were good. Red beans and rice and jambalya were very good. But that's about all that was good on the whole buffet. We didn't bother with the desserts. Honestly, we felt a little sickened so we left without getting any. This is disappointing. We were there about a year or so ago and it was wonderful. It has gone downhill, as we should have gotten our first clue to see the parking lot had very few cars. Several years back, you couldn't find a parking space. You'd circle endlessly until someone came out. To say the least, it has changed. read more

I didn't even make it pass the "hostess"...we walked in to this person staring at me as if she is NOT the hostess of this establishment. She said nothing so I said nothing. After 3 minutes of staring, she finally said, how many. After I told her, she replied "we dont have a booth" as if I asked for one. She walked away not giving any indication what she wanted us to do (i.e. Wait or follow her). I asked the next employee I saw if they were affiliated with Don Pablo (next door), she said no, so thats where we ate with a much more friendly and appreciative experience. Fyi, I will never frequent an establishment that does not show appreciation to it's customers. Have you forgotten, we are the reason that you stand on your feet for 5 bucks an hour. I'm wrapping up my mini-review of chain restaurants in Smyrna. Copeland's is my guilty pleasure, as it's completely bad for you, but I've been pleased every time I go there. The service is typically great (though it helps that the hostesses flirt with me as I enter), and the meals are served blazingly fast. Copelands used to be hubby and I's favorite date night spot. Until, that is, the last two times we've been. It has not been the wait staff, it's been the mysterious Chef! My favorite appetizer is the Onion Mum. I requested that the cooks cut the middle out because it is hard to pull when the center remains in tact. The last two times my request was denied. When I complained, the waitress returned to our table and said "the chef said he didn't want to cut it out." I'm sorry? So sorry to inconvenience you, mystery chef. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. After calling ahead to inform them of our incoming large party (25), upon arrival, we had to practically argue with the workers of this place in order to get us our tables; we had to wait 15 minutes for them set up our tables. After we were seated, it took approx. another 20 minutes, most of which was spent in complete silence, our waiter finally came to take only our drink orders, and claimed he would be back later to get our appetizers. Another 10 minutes for our drinks to come, during which, we were beginning to really feel the hunger as we had just come from a 3 hour graduation ceremony. Keep in mind, even after calling ahead, it took us 45 just to receive drinks (with no complementary breads in sight). After a waiter different from the one stationed to our party came to check up on us, it was then after we asked for bread was I given to us; also not free. Immediately after that, the ordered bread was only given to 2 of the 4 tables that required them. Just for reference, we arrived at 2:45, called them at 1:30, and at 4:00 were we just receiving our 'complementary' bread. Afterwards, the other non-appointed waiter came to ask if we wanted refill, which, due to the rising hunger levels of the group, most said yes. By this time, a different party was seated in our relative area, and were immediately given glasses of water and a waiter to take their order. At this point, we're angry and hungry. By 4:45, we had just received our appetizers (the only thing we ordered upon the waiters arrival), and were hoping the food was redeemable in regards to the poor service we'd received. The food, however was the only shining star in the dark world of this restaurant, though it was not hot and fresh. The party in our vicinity got their entrees before half of our party received their appetizers(that we'd ordered before that tables even arrived). In addition, some of our party members orders were confused or did not even arrive. When confronted, the managers only gave us pitiful excuses. Also, when we came, the restaurant was virtually empty. The employees, save for the one miracle waiter, were rude and short with our entire party, and pressured us to lower our party number. At the end, they also wanted to add more charges and meals to the bill that what was actually ordered. Do not come to this establishment, their prices are too high for the low quality of their service and respect. read more

This place is not good at all. I ordered the Shrimp Alfredo and my friend ordered the Mahi Mahi Cajun and both were just doused in grease. It was gross! Yum! Came for Saturday brunch with a group. The band doesn't play on Saturdays and the buffet isn't as decadent as the Sunday set (no omelet, waffle/pancake station, etc). But still good selection of food, both breakfast and lunch items. I enjoyed the brioche french toast sticks and cheese grits. They also had salmon, beef burgundy, jambalaya, Mac and cheese, shrimp cocktail and fruit, among other things. We also enjoyed the mimosas. All in all a good experience. I came last Sunday at 1 ish and the wait was about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Typically I wouldn't wait for food for that long but my friends wanted to eat here and begged that we stay because the brunch " was to die for" and it was best decision I ever made. I was checking in the hostess kristie was funny and kept me updated on where I was at on the list and it didn't feel like almost two (we did go over a little but it was busy) Our waiter Julian was great. He was able to answer all our questions and the food was great. He was a nice person to talk to and the whole staff made us feel welcome. One thing that can improve is have the food out faster because some of the food on the buffet ran out and took a while to replenish but other than that it was perfect. I'll say upfront this review is based on only one meal, so this is probably not accurate review for the whole menu. Had late dinner date here, so there was no problem with parking or seating. I ordered a catfish po-boy. How you can screw that up, I don't know. It was so terrible. I ate enough it to kinda fill me up and that was it. It was a very large portion, I had a whole other half left. But I didn't even bother taking it home..cause I knew I wasn't gonna eat it. My visit last nigh, at the Mardi GRas Party, was HORRIBLE!!! And this was so disappointing becaus I have been there before and had a pleasant experience. So I knew that going for a big party like Mardi Gras would be great... I was wrong. Apparently they were not expecting a huge amount of customers for this highly publicized event. They were severely understaffed, well at least inour section. Out waitress, when asked if we could grab a 4 top table next toours that had been vacant, as we had called additonal people up to spend money there, her response was "Do you know how many tables I'm waiting on?" OMG, are you kidding me? Then the 30 minute wait for menus, the absence of entrees ordered, which reappeared on the bill and the overall poor customer service really turned me and my entire party off. I love Copelands, and will now have to drive to Buckhead or Kennesaw to enjoy it. Take my word for it, if you go to this Cumberland Mall location, do so at your own risk. I've been meaning to write this review for awhile. I dropped by Copeland's to check out their cheesecake offerings, thinking I might bring a nice, tasty treat home to enjoy while watching a beautiful Atlanta sunset. After noticing a couple of different chocolate slices, I asked the counter guy which one was the most popular. His response was, "I don't know. We rarely sell any cheesecake." What?!!! Did I hear you correctly?!! You rarely sell any cheesecake! I immediately had a vision of eating 2 month old cheesecake and spending the evening in the loo rather than enjoying a stunning sunset ;~) I quickly backtracked, telling the counter person that I would have to think about the options and made a hasty retreat. Maybe, if I forget that exchange with the counter person 100 years from now, I might drop by and give them another chance. read more

I experienced Copelands for the first time this past Sunday. I ordered for pick up online while sitting in the parking lot. It was probably 45 min before closing time so I was worried the food would be old or not as fresh tasting. Fortunately, it was exceptional! I had the crab stuffed catfish with loaded Mac n cheese and creamy spinach for my sides. I originally ordered smothered green beans instead of the spinach, but they ran out. The spinach was scrumptious! Next time I'll try for those green beans again. The wait wasn't long either for my to go order. Approximately 20 min. My best friend took me here for brunch for my birthday today. I like Copeland's food. At my old job they catered lunch for us and I vowed to visit the restaurant. I have had drinks at the one in Buckhead before it closed, this is my first visit to the on in Marietta and I was there for the Sunday brunch. Here is the Good and the Bad. The Good: The food is good, during the all you can eat brunch, there is so much food to choose from, omelette's, french toast, waffles, catfish, grits, roast beef, chicken, you name it, you got it. There was so much food to try and everything I ate was good to great. Plenty of free parking. The Bad: It is super super crowed, the earlier you get there the better off you will be. You can barely move around the buffet stations because it is sooooo crowed. At this location you can not order alcohol beverages before 1230p on Sundays, so if you would like to have a Mimosa or a bloody mary you will have to wait until then. I would have like to see more seafood on the buffet line, especially shrimp. Overall: I will come back to Copeland's to eat. The food is wonderful. If you are coming for Sunday brunch come early, it is a cool laid back environment and worth the visit. read more

Food was amazing! We went on valentine's day but the wait wasn't that bad. The waiter was a little slow with our check at the end. . we had to ask three times to get the desert taken off (for the yelp coupon) other than that though it was amazing! Blackend catfish was awesome! Good atmosphere for a date night! Its loud enough to not feel like others are listening but not so loud you have to scream. Ohhhh ma gawd!!! I just moved here from California and wanted to get some good southern food that I remember having in New Orleans! My mom and I just moved into the Walton Riverwood apartments literally right across the street and decided to walk around that shopping center to find a place to get drinks and and appetizers. My mom's ultimate favorite food is fried chicken- and after Culver's stopped selling fried chicken on their menu she gave up hah. She ordered the herb fried chicken plate and I ordered the fajita soup and salad. We were both blown away by how fresh and juicy the chicken was! I loved that it was spicy. The fajita soup was flavorful and the broth was spicy- which I loved! They gave us butter biscuits before our meal and those were drool worthy! Our waiter and the helping staff were all very accommodating and gave awesome customer service! Overall, awesome experience. I am really disappointed. I flew all the way from Maryland to visit my friend who has never been to this restaurant. I am familiar with the chain and so I agreed to go. We were also told that the place had a nice crowd. Well to our surprise there was no crowd which was good because I was VERY hungry. Needless to say, we ordered what we thought and were told were some of the best items on the menu. All of our food was very bland and taste really bad. I only enjoyed the mac and cheese with the pork and that is really because it had spi e to it which accounted for the flavor. The food was so bad that I am more than convinced that the restaurant ran out of the angel hair pasta for the crab alfredo and substituted with some sort of Ramen noodle. It was very sticky unlike most pastas when cooked properly. My crab topped catfish wasnt good either. The drinks were good and our server was pretty nice and helpful so the 2 stars were earned by her alone. I do not believe that the food was par and I spend a lot of money mostly on food and dining out so I do know good food. I also point this out because this is the reason why I didn't stop to talk to a manager but I did tell the server all of this as we prepared to leave and she offered to box up the leftovers. I declined by saying not a chance because the taste was bland. I've NEVER left a restaurant upset about the money I spent due to the poor taste of the food but this was a first. I was/am not happy. My friend was also unhappy and most likely will not be back. read more

We went to Copeland's for Sunday Brunch. As Sunday Brunch's go, this one is better than average. They keep the buffet stocked with fresh, hot, delicious food and the price is a bit lower than most. That being said, the wait can be ridiculous! I'd recommend that you go early, like 11:00 or later around 2:00. The after church crowd swarms between 12-1:30. Copeland's Sunday Brunch is definitely one of my favorites and I can't wait to go back! read more
