Flavorful! I visit Copeland's often and the food, customer service and overall experience is great. With the new additions to this shopping center, parking has gotten tighter over the years but is still plentiful within a long short walk. :-) This location has a large bar area, outside covered patio and plenty of "regular" seating. The wait during Sunday brunch and on holidays can get really long (1 hr +) but that's pretty standard for the Cumberland area given the limited options when compared to an area like Perimeter. Overall, it's one of my go to restaurants for a good meal at a good price. read more

First off, why have hip-hop blaring that loud in what is primarily a restaurant? It's not a club, they don't have a dance floor, and I've never heard anybody say "let's go to Copeland's and party." They should stop trying to be something they're not. Two, the hostess never smiled or greeted us. We spoke first and asked for a table for two and were told rather curtly that it would be at least 30 minutes even though the place was half-empty. Are they TRYING to go out of business? Usually something has to be really good or really bad to motivate me to yelp and I've realized that isn't probably right. So here goes.... Was in the mood for seafood then kinda shifted to cajun/creole. So chose Copeland's seeing it had fair reviews. I had the gumbo ya ya, shrimp etouffee, and a beef po boy. Also some fries went with that and is only worth mentioning because I think tthey were the best part. The gumbo was just fair. While I got take out I only had a very brief drive back to hotel and had to wait to get my food, the gumbo wasn't even warm...more like luke warm. Was almost concerned about eating it because of temp. And the small portion is quite small. Flavor wise it wasn't bad.....but it wasn't GOOD either. The Po Boy was rreally lacking. Remember those boiling bags you'd put in boiling water and which contained beef and gravy? I swear I bet their beef is in one huge bag and is done that way. It was too salty and with that unnatural fenestrated texture that indicates over cooking or over tenderization. The bread was way too soft for real french bread (or at least what I've had from most bakeries and in NO) and with the added beef juices went from what is a delightful goey mess to mushy bread pudding with beef. A heated roast beef sub from Subway would beat this hands down. I love shrimp etoufffee or at least I did. I've only had it really really good in NO and I wasn't drunk at the time. The rice wasn't cooked through...not even close. The shrimp were plentiful but small. And the seasoning were (like the gumbo) not bad....just not good. In fact I'd be willing to bet the same sauce base is used in both dishes. As it was take out I have no comment on the service. If I had eaten in the restaurant I'd have sent the etouffee back and complained the beef was too salty and TOO tender. This sounds like a nightmare review and I didn't start out for it to be that way. I would have taken this over McDonalds.....but the two starts "Meh I've eperienced better" is right on target. read more

Horrible experience, It was my first time visiting the restaurant, and I will never come back. I ordered a long island Ice tea, this is a drink that is difficult to mess up , the reason why I always order that anywhere I go, boy I was wrong.. drink was watered and no taste, no alcohol, bottom line was a glass of dirty water with Ice. That was sent back. My entry was fried crab with shirmp Alfredo, this plate came a bit dried on top, that means it was seating too long on the window, but that's wasn't that bad, what really disgusted me was that the plate had a HAIR RIGHT ON TOP OF THE ALFREDO, how come the cheff let the plate go... Uuummm that's probably because the cheff don't care... After I sent the plate back the waiter asked me if I wanted something else, OF COURSE NOT, after I sent a plate back I never order again, if they were careless enough to send a hair in a plate, they are capable to do worse to new plate. I was at least waiting for a manager to come and appologize but no one came to the table, this could be because two things, the server never told no one, or management don't care, or could be a bit of both. Copeland's was good and just as I expected. I usually enjoy the food and tonight was no exception. The service was good, the food did take a little longer than normal, but really there were no major issues. Favorite thing? The drinks! They are always really good and strong. If you are a lady who is kinda over th super sweet and super fruity, this is a a good option: Dark N' Stormy. Once again food is good and just don't forget this isn't a five star restaurant but it is a pretty tasty version of Louisiana Creole Cajun flavors. Lol read more

To be honest - as soon as I walked into this place I thought I made a mistake. It seems super chain-y and I suppose it is. I'd never heard of Copeland's and it was one of the few food choices immediately next to Main Event. I was hesitant to order anything because I was being so judgmental. But... I was pleasantly surprised. My wine wasn't good - let's be honest with that one. Not very enjoyable. But my food was! I ordered the Stuffed Bell Pepper with Garlic Sweet Potatoes. It was so spicy and the biscuit it came with was delicious. I'm sure I don't want to know how many calories are in those... My husband had the Jambalaya Pasta and he enjoyed his food as well. One really weird thing - when we first walked in, the smell of desserts is SO overwhelming. It DOES smell great, but it's kind of strange to try to think of spicy, cajun food when all you can smell is sugar. Eventually I guess we just got used to it... but it was odd. read more

Good brunch, good dinner, satisfactory bar, satisfactory ambiance. Copelands has great biscuits and the fried bow-tie pasta with spinach/artichoke dip appetizer is decadent. The red beans and rice is always a winner. The corn and (insert crab or crawfish) bisque is also consistently tasty. I would love them more if they kept blackened pork laboucherie on the menu. The website says that a buffet is available every Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm. I'll have to make it out there some time for this. This overlaps with the jazz Sunday brunch from 11 am to 3 pm, so it makes for an overall very pleasant dining experience. read more

Okay, to put things in perspective, this review is written in reference to their Sunday Jazz Brunch (specifically the one in Kennesaw on Barrett Pkwy). That being said, know what you're getting into. We went at 10:30am, which, incidentally, was the calm before the storm. The live jazz band goes on about 11am. Closer to 11:30am, this place starts to get packed with the church-folk and is not for the claustrophobic. The price is about $19.95 per adult. Not sure what it is for children. The food. Decent overall, but since it's made in mass quantities, the taste is lacking. First I started off at their omelet station. You're given the choice of eggs or egg whites, andouille sausage, ham, bacon, and maybe one other meat. Then you have a choice of various vegetables, like onions, green peppers, cilantro, jalapenos, and various others. Nothing too out of the ordinary, unless you'd call 2 ladles of butter included in your omelet out of the ordinary. So, after round one, I decided to check out their pancake, French toast, grits area. The French toast was pretty good, but definitely not hot. Maybes that's just the breaks of essentially eating out of a trough. I added strawberries, some whip cream, and syrup and then got a side of their "Cajun" grits. Those encompassed cheddar cheese, pork, and maybe a few spices. They were pretty decent, again, kind of lukewarm since they were coming out of a warming fixture. Okay, trip, number 3. Decided to try what they should be best at. Cajun food. I tried some jambalaya (which had andouille sausage, chicken, red beans, rice, peppers, and shrimp), red beans and rice, and then had some sort of soft cheeses, and then a cucumber, celery, tomato salad. The Jambalaya was pretty solid. The meats were not overly cooked, and there was just the right amount of spice. The red beans and rice were not very good. The red beans had been sitting so long that they were starting to turn into refried beans. Too bad...a Cajun restaurant should be able to get this one right. Trip number 4, what can I say, I feel obligated to pig-out at all-you-can-eats. I had some seasoned grilled chicken and then I decided to throw in the towel. The chicken was also pretty decent, but it was obvious that it'd been sitting there in its own juices as it had kind of a wet look. The service was fine for a buffet situation. The server checked on us periodically and made sure we had plenty of coffee and water. They also came by pretty regularly to take dirty plates from our table. Here's why it gets a 3. Despite the fact that there is lots of variety...the food was just mediocre at best. If I'm going to pay $20 for a meal, I'd probably prefer for it to come out piping hot, served fresh, and a reasonable portion. I know it's likely the nature of an all-you-can-eat fest that it's not going to be the freshest or hottest, but that's what they should strive for. I'd probably pass on future Sunday brunches there, but it was a nice try. read more

Let me start off by saying , I LOVE Copelands. I helped open Copelands in Covington, LA. I happened to be in ATL and saw the restaurant and had to go in. The atmosphere was very nice, but the service was horrible. We sat an hour 15 minutes before everyone received drinks. The restaurant was not packed. None of my party of 5 was able to eat together. I never received my salad, or my meal until I spoke to the manager upon asking for the check. So they packed my order up to go. I do not eat cold fish. One of the plates that came out was dead(old and had been sitting). I was totally disappointed. Out of the 5 top only one plate came out fresh and hot, while everyone else watched that person eat in awe. read more

My friend took me here for dinner on Friday about a week ago. I have been to Copelands before when they had a location in Birmingham off Hwy 280, that was like 8-9yrs ago (wow). We had to wait about 10 mins to be seated. I didn't understand since the place was not busy, which I was surprised since it was Friday night around 8pm. But hey maybe the place isn't that popular out in Atlanta. So, we were seated in the bar area in a booth. Usually in the bar area you don't wait, you just sit where there is an open table. Well apparently not so. Our waiter was the bartender. He was was the only bartender/waiter in that area and the bar area was pretty full. He was cool though I liked him. But the service was slow to have what it appeared to be more wait staff than customers at the place, in the other areas besides the bar. (They need to move some of the wait staff to the bar area and wait tables there). The food was ok, it wasn't bad but just nothing to call my momma about and recommend she go there. I had a martini, something with pineapple in it, LOVED IT.....not as good as Grand Lux Cafe pineapple martini but still good ....I did get my buzz on. I believe this is a good place to go just because you know what you getting and you know how it will taste, I kinda of think of it as a baby cheesecake factory, you know what you are going to get. I mean the cheesecake factory is a big step up from Copelands but as far as food wise, they are the same (the food does not blow me away at either). The ambiance is a lot better at TCF though. read more

Had a business lunch meeting here. There were a lot of confusion about whether they were open or closed because they had blocked off the parking lot for their exterior renovation and there were no posted signs at the exterior telling patrons that they were still in business. I had to call the restaurant to find out and had to make more calls to tell the other parties where to park and that they were still in operation. A simple sign outside the restaurant and parking lot could have saved a lot of confusion. Their menu reminded me of cheesecake factory. A whole booklet of their so called cajun food. I ordered jambalaya pasta because i was in the mood for jambalaya spice. It came with chicken diced up so small, i had a hard time getting them onto my fork. Sausage was not impressive and the sauce did not taste like any jambalaya sauce that ive been accustomed to at cajun restaurants. It didnt have any kick. Hostess and servers were on point. Perhaps their fried stuff is better prepared. I wouldnt do any pastas here. I may return again to try out some other stuff but i have a feeling that it wouldnt be out of this world cajun. Just another franchise restaurant that claim to do cajun right. We will see on my second visit. For now, i would give it a three mediocre star. read more

Went to brunch this past Saturday with a group of friends. As usual the food was delicious and we had a great time. Our waiter, Sam introduced us to a new mimosa - instead of orange juice he suggested pineapple juice. I must say it tasted great! There were several folks celebrating birthdays but when we realized they (the staff) didn't sing when they brought out the birthday dessert, just about everyone in our section sung happy birthday. I should have listened to my gut instinct and gone to Cheesecake Factory. Even though Cheesecake factory is busier the service is still up to par. All I needed was a half of cheesecake to go. The first problem was that no one was working the to go desk and while there was a host. No one greeted us or came over to see what we needed. I say we because there was a more people than myself waiting. I just so happen to fist in line. We asked the host for help and he looked at us as to say he didn't work in that area. I finally stopped a waitress to find someone who could take our orders. When I did finally get to order, I was told that I couldn't order half a cheesecake. So I did her job and showed her the Copeland menu with the prices of half a cheesecake. Smh... why don't people just check before they say no to customers. So I ordered half a cheesecake, something that already prepared at 2:49. I didn't get my order until 3:16. Should it really take 25 mins to get a half of a cheesecake? I arrived at 7:30 pm with my party of eight for my birthday dinner Saturday, 1/13/18. We initially were told by a hostess via phone that she had our party's name. Keep in mind that they do not accept reservations but she informed us that they took our name to write on the list to maintain a record of seating availability for my party . But upon arriving, we were told we had to wait 40 minutes because for some reason no one could remember ever speaking with me. At that moment, I became a bit flustered because that's not what I was told via our phone call. The hostesses at the front had no inkling of who I spoke to regarding our party. They were so unprofessional. So we waited the 40 minutes, and after the wait, we were then told that our party name was never put on the waiting list and we had to wait an additional 50 MINUTES !!!! So at this point I was livid. So I asked to speak with the manager; she actually was very nonchalant and not very accommodating. The actual restaurant manager repeatedly avoided us at all times. So we waited and waited. Then the hostess had the audacity to say we were being and I quote "UNPATIENT." At this point, I'm extremely dissatisfied with the poor service we had received. All in all the experience was absolutely horrendous! My birthday dinner started out all wrong. Never going to this location EVER AGAIN! read more

They utilize Uber to deliver the meals you place THROUGH their location and the location THAT BILLS YOU. 2 hours later and 3 calls and the wrong order and they take no accountability. There is no confusion Bill. It was an order to be delivered by Uber. It had our name on it but was the wrong order. Not an Uber mistake, unless you let the driver label the meals. We were charged for the meal we ordered, much larger than what we received. The awful part was the lack of help when I called back in. Was on hold three times while they were searching and the woman was extremely rude. Order was under Liston in the day this was posted. read more
