For starters, the pages of my menu were stuck together with some kind of unknown sauce that looked like honey BBQ. As if that wasn't enough, I looked through the entire menu 3 times and made it to the back without finding anything on it that I was really all that excited about ordering. I then had to take a 4th trip through the menu with the attitude of finding the one thing that I thought sounded the least blah. I ended up with a chicken sandwich...which is about as blah as it gets. Apparently, New Orleans style cooking just isn't my cup of tea. Now I know. The food arrived quickly and everyone at the table said "Oh, your hamburger looks tasty." Except it was a chicken sandwich that had been char grilled to the point that it was blackened on the outside. The inside was really dry and chewy from having all the moisture cooked out of it. On the plus side, our server was pleasant and brought refills at a lightening quick pace. However, everything else was surprisingly lackluster and just barely accomplished a mediocre rating. I kept meaning to write a review, but would always forget. This time the service was so enjoyable, I thought it was finally time! First off, I have only ordered off the menu for dinner. Being a Sunday night, it was not super crowded and service was very fast. We even got some biscuits tossed in while we were waiting, with a side of honey. What a surprisingly good combination! My friend had the fried catfish, which was cooked perfectly (according to him, I can't judge since I am not a fan of seafood!). I had a BBQ chicken sandwich that was absolutely delicious! I was pleasantly surprised. The Cajun flavors were definitely there, despite the BBQ sauce. And, they have coated fries (lightly breaded I guess you could call it?), which are my favorite kind. I met up here with a friend of mine planning on great food and great conversation. I ordered the Sunday buffet and was not disappointed! We arrived just as the restaurant opened, which I strongly recommend, as it gets pretty crowded around noon. The fried turkey lacked the typical Cajun spiciness. Sweet potatoes needed the secret ingredient: orange juice. A must try is the Bloody Mary. I went on Mother's Day, I should've known there would be large crowds but I couldn't resist. We waited for about 40 minutes, but my opinion the food is so delicious it's worth the wait! I had no complaints, everything was seasoned well and was kept warm. Luckily they sat us in an area where we weren't in middle of all of the chaos. I noticed the jazz band came out around 11ish. Even with allowing an extra hour, due to traffic, we had to eat someplace close to the Cobb Energy Center in order to get to the opera (La Bohéme) in time, so we decided on Copeland's. This is the full restaurant, by the way, not just a small café. They were very nice, and responsive to our request to get in and out quickly. We arrived around 6 and because it was just two of us were able to get seated after about 15 or 20 minutes, and our waitress, a woman named Donna (She wrote down her name on the receipt along with a request for a review of the location.), was helpful and got things moving. I don't think I've received an appetizer any faster than that. It was the crab beignet and I loved the mustard sauce. My spouse ordered the catfish acadiana and absolutely loved it - thin, not too thick, and lightly breaded with good crunch on the outside and tender and moist fish on the inside. I tried the red cabbage coleslaw he ordered and I give points for something creative and much more yummy than typical coleslaw that is overly sweet and just plain cabbage. I ordered the salmon cobb salad which was a good large size and delicious. We got to the opera on time, weren't hungry, and we really enjoyed our food. BTW, it's a cute convenient spot with a view up high with some hills full of trees in the distance. I enjoyed being able to look out from the front and see something pretty instead of a full parking lot. I encourage everyone to sit at the bar at restaurants you visit often, once in a while. Copelands is usually really good. I have visited for lunch, brunch, and dinner. I was alone, so I sat at the bar this time. Several things caught my attention. I ordered red wine and my glass had soooo many smudges. I asked for another glass and it looked the same. There was a young lady juicing lemons without gloves....I CRINGED!!The container where the juice was going In to was unattended for at least the first 30 minutes of my stay. She juiced lemons and kept walking away and coming back. I was so disgusted to never see any gloves. Behind the bar was not clean at all. I noticed exposed cleaning supplies on the floor where she threw lemon rinds in a box. Goodness grief! My beignet crab balls were so freaking chewy. I asked the bartender what were the good Chef days and he advised the current chefs were in training. I can tell by the quality of my food tonight. My cheesecake was 8.95 and this is a very small piece. I could be disappointed because Pappadeauxs was so crowded tonight and this was my second choice. It was very slow in the restaurant and we had to wait to be seated there was no host so a person from the bakery came to seat us obviously irritated we asked for a booth. Ordered bisque to start got a dirty spoon on the side asked for a clean one waited a while while bisque got cold. Food came out was missing my entree she said she never put it in. Never got a water refill that I was told I would get had to get utensils from another table that was also dirty got plastic ware indstead then opted not to get entree just check and to leave. Years ago it used to be better. The server we had must have had too many tables because when drink refills were needed he could not be found. Went here for date night on a Tuesday night and the whole experience was awesome. Even though our salad came late, our server Kahlid more than made up for this little mishap. He truly made the outing one of the best we have had to date. He knew that menu inside and out and was very accommodating, professional, and attentive. He had quite a few tables at once, yet he never panicked or faltered and he always checked on us as he rushed by while taking care of his other guests. Our food was awesome. The Sunday Brunch Buffet here is a must. It's $30 per person but well worth the money. My fiancé and I went for the first time and were amazing at how good the food and overall experience was for us. When we arrived around noon there was a wait time of 30 minutes. Apparently their Sunday Bruch is no hidden secret as there were several people waiting to be seated. We were notified via text when our table was ready and surprisingly the wait time was less than expected. This is probably one of my favorite dine in restaurants ever. I go to the location off Cumberland PKWY. I only go here with one of my friends and we tell no other friends when we're going. The food has been nothing but amazing and for the most part the wait is never too long. They have the most amazing crawfish bread and the drinks here are amazing. Only reason I couldn't give this place 5 stars is because the take-out part of service needs some adjustments. I went in once to place a to-go order and we stood at the counter for 30 minutes. Staff members kept coming behind the counter but no one took our order or told us someone would be with us shortly. When someone finally came she was having and personal conversation with one of her coworkers while we were trying to order.
