What a unique and exceptional dining experience at Copleys. I enjoyed the historic old school vibe on the patio. Cary Grant used to own the property and used it to entertain guests. Our service was also excellent and 5 stars. We enjoyed the bread and butter, along with the salmon appetizer. For dinner, my husband and I share the ahi tuna special. It was really good, but the sautéed greens could've been better. We wanted dessert but found ourselves too full. Only room for improvement here would be to add some bug deterrent. We had quite a few insect visitors on our table that we kept shooing away, and I got a few mosquito bites. read more

First time at Copley's for me and my two friends. Upon entering we were impressed by the very nice ambiance. Waiter was attentive and helpful. The food was average to mediocre. I had the pork chop which had a very impressive presentation. I was eager to cut into it. As I cut pieces off I noticed that they were very fatty and grisly. In fact, there were probably 3 small bites of meat on the whole chop. I left a large pile of inedible fat and gristle on the plate. How can any chef in good conscience serve up such a fatty terrible pork chop? Because this was a reunion of old friends I didn't say anything as I didn't want to interrupt our fun time together. My friend had the seafood fettuccini. He said it was just okay and was rather light on the seafood. Other friend had the chicken schnitzel which he said was excellent. His goat cheese potatoes were excellent as well. On the positive side, my desert breeze cocktail was very good. We had the empanadas for the appetizer and they were delicious. In fact, we ordered a second portion because they were so good. The spinach that came with the fatty pork chop was very good. Now the bread. Ten dollars for a basket of 4 small pieces of bread? Ouch. It was no better than any bread you can buy in a grocery store. Waiter asked us if we wanted a second basket. Complementary? Nope. Another ten dollars. No thank you In summary, for what we got, this place was way overpriced and average quality at best. read more

Had dinner here. The place has a lovely outdoor patio, quite romantic. Had an empanada as appetizer; it was cold and soggy when we received it. For entrees, ordered salmon and bronzini. The salmon was cooked well, but veggies were undercooked. The bronzini was good. Our waiter also had a bad attitude with us because we sent back a cocktail that was badly prepared. Very unassuming from the front entrance/parking lot, but once you enter it opens up into a beautiful, spacious outdoor situation. We went here for a rehearsal dinner so our experience may have been a bit different as we had a set menu (with options) and a big party. Service was great and the food was wonderful. We kicked off with dirty martinis, which were excellent--very dirty and very strong. Loved the lobster ceviche (was so fresh and flavorful), the steak (huge and well seasoned and cooked), and the barramundi. The desserts (some sort of fudgy chocolate cake and apple pie) were pretty standard but very decadent and a great ending to the meal. Overall, would recommend! read more

Finally had a chance to dine here last week and I was hoping for better. Apparently housed in the former Cary Grant PS residence, the setting is so ideal/iconic Palm Springs with its open courtyard, mid century tones and stunning landscape background. The hostess stand waiting area is inviting in and of itself. Unfortunately thats where the allure kinda stopped for me. The hostess clearly wants to be sure everyone is made to feel welcome however it comes across as intense at times. The food itself is fair at best - reminded me of dining at a banquet hall or hotel function - the quality and consistency was very overcooked and oxersauced with no real apparent flavor. I had the tuna cones appetizer which were perhaps the worst I've ever had and my salmon was drenched in what seemed to be bbq sauce. I found it offensive they charge $10 for ciabatta rolls they picked up from Sysco food purveyors. I can recommend this location for drinks set in their cute bar in the center of the former house or for dessert however it's a likely skip for food otherwise. Helpful hint - if you see one of the 1001 bachelorette parties that roam through town and this restaurant, ask to be seated elsewhere as you will be thoroughly annoyed. read more

I was fortunate to be invited to Copley's for dinner with family last night. My aunt learned that this restaurant was built within the former guest cottages of Cary Grant and had to check it out. So we trekked up from San Diego to join in the experience. The courtyard atmosphere was the nicest I've seen outside The Three Sisters in NOLA. Picture perfect outdoor dining. Our food was excellent, New York steak cooked perfectly. Ahi seared to perfection. Even the bread for two was great. This mead all capped off by excellent service all around. Lovely grounds that could have been the main attraction, so it's always wonderful when the food is just as great. read more

Let me start by saying I love this place. We eat here as often as we can. The overall food very good, the staff is excellent. The setting is perfect. The only problem is that they need to upgrade their beef. The last several visits left our guest in a wrestling match with their meat. A neighboring table made the same comment. This place I highly recommend absolutely fabulous from service, ambiance and the food you cannot go wrong. The ambiance here is absolutely gorgeous from the outside you cannot tell. But when you walk into the patio area it's beautiful so spacious and the inside is great too. You cannot go wrong choosing to sit inside or out. The staff here is top notch one of the best services I had in a very long time. We came in a few min past closing we thought they were open til 9 it was 8 , the general manager still sat us down for service which I didn't think we would be able too thank you for that. Bussers were excellent helped with everything. The waitress was phenomenal being so attentive and explaining all the menu and specials she was excellent. It was my cousins anniversary weekend and she even brought out a special dessert at the end amazing. This staff is excellent from every aspect. Now the food let's start with appetizers we got the potstickers these were amazing so crispy excellent sauce with their mushrooms I highly recommend. Now we also got a bread basket but there was I think cornbread in there too it was amazing too. Caesar salad this was excellent with bacon and then to top it off a tempura style pineapple crouton wow so good. Now main course the I got the filet wrapped in bacon so good cooked too perfection you cannot go wrong and pricing is actually very reasonable for a filet. This place does not have a huge menu which I prefer but I'm sure the everything on there is well worth it. If you want a great atmosphere excellent top notch service and wonderful food. This restaurant was formerly Cary Grant's guest home (his main home was down the road). The casitas were converted into a kitchen and bar while the former swimming pool and outdoor entertaining area now serves as an extra large dining space. There is no shortage of outdoor seating at Copley's! There is a large concrete wall/fence surrounding the property so, even though you're in downtown PS, this restaurant feels tucked away and private. However, I will admit the noise level can be loud as discussions happening at tables across the outdoor space seem to reverberate. The service was top notch, as were all the dishes we tried. I can't speak to all the dishes but from what our table had; Copley's gets a high 5 Star from me. The meatloaf was my entree and it was something like I've never had before. I am a believer now that not all meatloaf dishes are the same. This dish reigns supreme in my book. EVERYTHING at Copley's proved to be a great place with great food and ambiance. Let me also say we were told it was rather pricey but it really wasn't. Each entree priced out between $25-$35. Be sure to make your reservation or you may not get in. I have to say this was one of the best dining experiences I have had in the desert. The service, the food, the ambiance were all 5 star. Our server, DK was an absolute scream. He was engaging, happy, funny and explained everything on the menu while including his opinions (which all appeared accurate). We did not get bread service, which saved us carbs and money and we didn't have to waste our calories. We started with cocktails and DK suggested "Liz is plum crazy" - this was a fantastic cocktail. Perfectly prepared and very tasty! Next we had beet salad and tuna tacos. OMG there is a goat cheese soufflé that comes with the beet salad that is perhaps the best thing on the menu -- creamy, flavorful, perhaps a twist on a soufflé and a crème brûlée. Remarkable!! Pork chop (so says my dining parter was outstanding) and I had the tuna special which came with some perfect shrimp, veggies and a perfect slab of sushi grade tuna. It was absolutely top notch. Another diner reported that the branzino was fantastic and it looked like a portion for two people! No room for dessert but the sweets menu looked amazing. In my opinion, this is fine dining at its best. From the moment we were seated to the moment we left, it was a perfect meal. Ambiance, food, service and price were all fantastic. Best Short ribs we have ever had, they melted in our mouth. We started our meal with The Kentucky Manhattans and they did not disappoint The mushroom soup which was today's special was outstanding with the truffle glaze. The tuna was exceptional, the sesame crust with the wonderful sear was delicious. To finish we had the sticky toffee pudding which devoured by our table. Over the years, I've noticed this restaurant tucked away back off of the road, but this was my first time here. I had passed it while walking to get coffee, and promised myself to finally give it a try. As you approach the main entrance to the restaurant, you'll notice the delicious smoky smell of cooking meats and see the clouds of mist from the patio seating. I was dining alone, so I headed inside and requested bar seating. The bar is small - just six or seven seats, but quaint. Conducive to polite conversation with your neighbours. The menu and wine list are both interesting, and offer a variety of options, including a few vegan and vegetarian plates. I had a dirty gin martini, a glass of Malbec, and the muscovy duck, with broccoli. Everything was delicious. My neighbour was drinking a "Liz is Plum Crazy" plum / pomegranate cocktail which looked delicious. I wish I had had room for dessert. But I will definitely be back for another meal. Everything was so perfect. We were there on the evening of Dec. 15th and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. To start, the atmosphere is very beautiful. The courtyard was lit with bistro lights, had a fountain and Christmas decor and had heating towers because it was a chilly night. We were seated outdoor next to a fireplace and waited on by our amazing waiter, DK. His customer service was excellent and his recommendations were on point. He even offered us blankets in case it became too cold. I had the salmon with a pomegranate sauce (which I need the recipe for) because it was to die for. My husband got the seasonal special which was also very delicious. Overall the service, atmosphere and food were all great. Definitely recommend for a date night. read more

I had always wanted to try this place. I finally did tonight and it was a huge disappointment. The food wasn't that great. It was bland, dry and not pleasant. We had the ahi tacos, pot stickers and bread to start. The tacos were so tiny, they were a joke. The pot stickers and bread were the best thing, even better than the entrees. We had the Australian Barramundi and the smoked duck with a lobster tail on the side. The Barramundi wasn't bad but the sides that they paired it with were awful. The smoked duck was nasty along with the pancake thing they served along with it. The lobster tail was dry and gross too. What was worse than the food was the service. Some might like it, but they were OVER attentive. There were about 7 different people that came to check on us in addition to our waiter who came to check on us countless times. They came not just to check on us, but to take away each single plate or single utensil as we finished. We couldn't have a peaceful conversation without being continually interrupted. We live 20 min from Copleys and last minute decided to try this past Sunday evening. First I checked the stars here on yelp and they looked good. Honestly I do not know how they have even 3 stars and thankfully upon drilling down thru the reviews t today.. I see enough that shared our experience. The others either got lucky or don't dine out enough. My wife and I have been to many of the finest restaurants in many major cities so we know what is excellent food. So now w our review: We ordered the pork chops and the "special" short ribs. We both kept quiet during our meal and didn't express how tasty each morsel was. The pork chop on a scale 1-10 was a 3 as it was simply BLAND. The spinach was like soggy and BLAND. These two ring hard potatoes BLAND anc couldn't figure out the point in their being on the plate. The sauce which can make or break was BLAND. Does the chef taste or have taste ???? My wife short ribs over salty and BLAND. The best part was literally the bread we had to ask for in which they charge $10. Why not have valet parking as it was hard to park in that lot and skip the $10 bread. The house merlot was also nothing to speak about. If the dinner was $50 we would have been disappointed and I would not even have bothered to write a review. However at $140 before tip, the food quality was not only dismal, IT WAS UNACCEPTABLE. The worst meal I ever had for any dinner above $100 for certain. The worst meal in Palm Springs. Next time I try a high end restaurant I am going to drill further down to read the negative reviews. In this case the word "bland" kept coming up. read more

Ok you guys seriously this place was fabulous from start to finish!!!! It was restaurant week and the menu had something for everyone! It had upgrades and you could substitute anything if it was on the menu. We sat at a table inside because it was so hot today but the garden area is beautiful too with misters to cool it down. Our server Charles was the sweetest!!! The hostess stopped by to see if everything was good and another young lady came to clear plates. The whole staff was excellent and very attentive and loved how they really worked together to make sure the guests were happy!!!! We had the Ceasar, beet and the mixed greens salads and all three were off the charts having something a little different than what you would find elsewhere. My mom and I had the chicken Schnitzel and my partner had the prime New York. Again all 3 dishes were full of flavor and cooked to perfection! The dessert was delicious and portioned perfectly. The service and ambiance are EXTRAORDINARY. The outside area is stunning, the service was impeccable; like watching choreography. We felt so cared for, and this was a truly special evening in that way. HOWEVER: the food. I'll start by saying that we're not picky eaters- we just love and appreciate really good food. And, in particular, when we go to a really nice restaurant, we want to experience unique, well prepared food that allows us to appreciate the skill and gifts (flavor, technique, etc) of professional chefs, vs - say - just a really good home cook. So that's our bar. Food that we couldn't throw together ourselves, that makes us go MMMMMMM. The food was honestly nowhere near worthy of the price point. We began with the bread and butter - the bread was wonderful, but the cornbread felt misplaced (and as someone married to a Southerner ... it was also a sweet cornbread that tasted more like a corn muffin, rather than a traditional savory cornbread that would've potentially been tasty as a starter with butter). For mains, I got the tofu dish, which many people raved about in reviews - but I found it was very one-note with an overly sweet sauce and no flavor to the tofu itself - it hadn't been separately marinated, which is a big mistake. My spouse got a fish dish and similarly said it was just "fine." Now, if we had paid $16 for each main, we would have shrugged and never thought about it again. But at such a high price point, we found ourselves disappointed that the food didn't deliver. Even the dessert was described beautifully, but lacked depth of flavor/nuance. In the end, we felt like we paid for the beautiful environment, but that the food managed to DETRACT from our experience (!!!). It was just...boring and lackluster, which didn't fit every other part of the evening. We won't be back- which is disappointing, because the environment and service is so lovely and unique that we *wish* we wanted to return! read more

Came here late at night for a birthday celebration and just for fair warning there is not much parking at this restaurant so make sure you either plan ahead or uber to the location. Succinctly this restaurant has so much to offer. The interior is a little cozy but if you get the privilege to sit outside it's truly a beguiling experience. I recommend going at night because of the excellent contrast the environment makes with their lights at night. The service was very prompt and responsive all most too responsive if that's a thing. The point is they were always around when you needed them. I would be lying if I said the food was only half as good as the beautiful environment. The food easily exceeded my expectations. The menu had a good variety of appetizers and entrees. They had a humongous variety of alcoholic beverages but I'm not yet old enough to drink so I'll leave it to you to try. I looked at the menu and I was between the duck dish and the lamb. Mind you, neither of these things I've tried but since I'm more partial to beef than chicken I ordered the lamb. The lamb dish was served with a side of a parsnip cream and a potato mint purée's and they were great but the meat and lamb stock reduction were the stars of the show. The lamb was cooked to perfection. Not only was it so very tender but its flavor was impeccable. I am very glads this was my first experience trying any sort of lamb dish. The desert I orders was the Chocolate lava cake which was also nothing but excellent. If you come here expect a masterclass in hospitality and visuals and taste. read more

Very Disappointing Experience - Made Worse by How It Was Handled We are locals in the area and chose this restaurant on September 23rd to celebrate a special occasion -- a birthday dinner with a party of six. While we had many other options to choose from, we decided to dine here based on previous experiences and good word of mouth. Unfortunately, the evening turned out to be memorable for all the wrong reasons. Four out of the six of us ordered the ahi tuna dish, and by later that night, all four of us were experiencing severe stomach issues -- including stomach aches, vomiting, and diarrhea that carried into the next day. Needless to say, it completely ruined the celebration and left us extremely concerned about the quality and safety of the food. We called the restaurant to report what had happened, hoping for a sincere response and some accountability. Instead, the manager we spoke to simply said she would "pass the message along to the chef." There was no apology, no follow-up, and no real acknowledgment of how serious the situation was. As locals, it's disappointing to feel so dismissed -- especially after choosing this place over many others for a special occasion. Mistakes can happen in any kitchen, but the way this was handled showed a real lack of care for customer well-being and satisfaction. We won't be returning and hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously -- both in terms of food safety and how they respond when something goes wrong. read more

A few of us dined at Copley's just before the New Year. We were seated outside and had a lovely table overlooking the patio. I split the caramelized beet salad with another in our group and it was amazing. It is one of the most unique preparation I've had with a goat cheese brûlée and granola as part of the dish. For my main, I chose the short rib and it was a generous portion. It was cooked perfectly with great flavor and melted in your mouth with an amazing tomato red pepper pepper bacon jam. The blood orange margatini cocktail was perfect as well. Dessert was a chocolate soufflé with decadent salted caramel ice cream. I definitely recommend Copley's. I noticed the next day that my coat had some stains on the back. I was seated near a fountain which was splashing on me. I returned and spoke to Greg, who assured me they would take care of me. My dry cleaner confirmed that the spots were from chlorine from the fountain water. Greg sent a check to cover the cost of replacement without hesitation. I really appreciate that he took care of me.
