I will add a star for the sweet lady seated in the corner chair of this store all quiet when this unpleasant man was "helping" me. The owner is so unpleasant! Grumpy and make you feel that you are annoying! I came to consult him to help me with a dress that was too tight on my hips I wanted to wear for a wedding. Ali, the owner, told me that it could open the side, but because of the fabric ( velvet, it might show) I asked him if he could show me what he meant since I had no clue what he was talking about. After opening the side of my dress, the fabric indeed looked a different color, and it would not have been lovely! I asked him just to let it be as it was and that I would try to figure it out. He asked to be paid 10 dollars to close it back! Which he never mentioned to me before opened it! I told him it was his job to help the customer understand what it was doing before agreeing on the price estimate he gave me. I have no problem spending and helping small businesses, but someone who is mean, unsmiling, and barely willing to explain what it was doing and the reason why feels very not professional! You can't expect someone to throw at you the price you asked without willing to give a little explanation and guidance. There is plenty of good tailors waiting for you with a smile, and happy to work with you! Definitely not this one ! read more

STAY CLEAR! Extremely overpriced for the quality of work. Cost me $25 to hem a dress two inches and when I received it, the hemming was sloppy and uneven. Customer service is an issue too. I simply asked, "if I try this on when I get home and find any issues, can I bring it back?" He said, "there won't be any issues I just made it shorter". As soon as I put it on we realize the length is uneven; and rather than apologizing he acts like it's no big deal. Sloppily cut and rehemmed my dress on the spot rather than taking his time to properly fix it. I didn't make a fuss about the money, although he should have offered to lower his insanely inflated price out of good faith. Paid the man and went straight to Yelp. Do better. read more

I'm bummed to write this review as I've been frequenting their business for over a year, but today was the last straw. The wife who co-owns the venue is very sweet, honest with cleaning/result expectations, and very fair on pricing. You bring in a big bundle, she'll even work with you on the pricing. And overall, Corner Cleaners has never lost nor damaged my clothes/items. But...they raised their prices this year "due to cost of living" which I get. It ain't cheap to live and run a business in LA! But in doing so, they've gotten deceptive with their pricing. Case in point, to wash and iron a dress shirt (which is pretty standard for men who wear dress shirts for work everyday...like I do), their price went up from $2 to $2.25 (if you bring in 6 or more, otherwise it's like a dollar more per shirt). So if you have 6 shirts washed, the price would be $13.50. HOWEVER, they round-up if you pay with a credit card!! So they would then charge you $14. When I finally caught this today, the co-owner (her husband), stated that they always round-up, and if I don't like it, I should just pay cash. BUT WAIT...you guys raised your prices, and because it's a number that now ends on 0.25, you're going to round-up again? I'm pretty sure that's deceptive and potentially illegal (to charge me more than the presented amount). Plus, I didn't want the number to go up to begin with...you guys did this!! Shady! The other challenge is that the co-owners quote different prices, which sucks if you're picking up your clothes (and then paying) the higher price than when you dropped off your item. As you may have guessed, both happened to me today. So if you like this place and you still wanna keep going back, here's my advice. Always. Double. Check. Your. Pricing. PS - Parking is pretty challenging there as well read more

I recently moved to Playa Vista and needed to get a dress tailored for a wedding I was attending this year. I found the Corner Cleaners on Yelp. Because of its good reviews and close proximity to home, I brought the dress here. Ali did a brilliant job tailoring that dress in a hurry before the wedding. I then recently bought a high-end dress on consignment and needed it to be taken in a bit to fit me around the sides. The dress was tricky because it had a zipper on the side (so couldn't be taken in on the sides), but also had four pieces of fabric all joining together at one middle point in the back and didn't have open lining -- meaning it needed to be taken completely apart to be taken it properly. When I went back, I got to know Ali a little better as he explained exactly what he needed to do to fit the dress. I asked how long it would take and he said, "tell me when you need it by!" I asked if two days was reasonable, as I was going out of town in three days and wanted to take the dress with me. He said yes. Two days later, I arrived and the dress was ready. When I tried it on, it was PERFECT!! The size/fit on me was perfect and seams were back in tact. Huge thank you to Ali!! I brought in a feather covered dress with no fabric content or cleaning label. Ali refused to clean it, but gave me some advise on hand washing it myself. He also said if I don't feel comfortable doing it myself to come back to him. I've had a decent amount of experience with fabrics and felt pretty confident with his advise.
