I love going to Island Pacific and saw that there was a seafood boil place next door so I wanted to try it out, and I would say that it was good. I don't know about life changing but it was definitely super worth, good bang for your buck!! No one was there when we went on a Thursday night. We ordered the Fisherman's Half Bounty, and it was such a good portion between two people. I would even say you can share between 3 people depending on your appetite (and the sides you get). We got the crab mentality sauce ?? or whatever their house sauce was called and it was interesting. Definitely tasted unique and it took me a while to like it but I definitely did like it. The mild wasn't bad, still a little kick but I think I'd prefer medium next time. The decor is super cute and I loved the little vibes. Very lowkey and the server was nice. Overall I'd come back, I definitely want to try some other flavors. Also, I wouldn't order the mango float again. It was just some mango icecream over sprite and we personally weren't that big of fans. Cajun fries were delicious. Anyways, we will definitely be back to try some other sauces! read more

Wow! Happy, friendly service that WANTS to answer any questions you have. The "Catch by the Half" is a half pound serving of shrimp, green mussels, clams, king crab legs, or snow crab legs. You add more than one too! And they offer sauces too!! Delicious! A cute, comfortable dining room with booths and table/chairs. Light gray surfaces reminiscent of weathered wood. Big ropes, nets, and wooden sea creatures in nets. The music is a collection of upbeat, cheerful pop top 40. It all comes together really well, in my opinion. I feel like I want to be here, not look at my watch and count for minutes to when I leave. read more

This is our go to when we are in the mood for seafood. Sauce is delicious and seafood is fresh. The seating is clean and service is always friendly, especially with Carmina. Drink is free refill too if dining in. Would definitely recommend. read more

I was so proud to suggest this new seafood restaurant Crab Mentality, a part of the newly opened Filipino owned, Island Pacific Supermarket, located in Los Angeles! The GLAR (Greater Los Angeles Association of Realtors) was looking for a restaurant to highlight Philippines as a retirement and investment option and after going through 4 locations, this came the perfect choice! Location was perfect, just a few minutes from the Philippine Trade and Investment Office, it was easy for our guest speaker, Com. Eric Elnar. Ample parking and its free, next to the supermarket that carried a lot of fresh seafood, meat and produce. Food was freshly made and reasonable and the open Kitchen was very clean and efficient service plus the place was spacious good for 40-50 seats and take out counter was snappy too. the Manager and his crew were very friendly, accommodating and gave us personal service! This restaurant has a counter and several booths and tables but there is a server that comes to your table. The fried calamari was fresh and paired well with the sauces that were given. The fisherman's catch has a pound of shrimp, a pound of mussels, some sausages, some potatoes and corn. We chose the cajun sauce. This was really filling for 2 people. The seafood pasta looked promising but was kinda bland (reason for not giving 5 stars). We had soda with our food. There is no fountain here. They give you bottles and cans. Service was quick and helpful. We asked for a bag to take the rest of our boil to go and the waitress bagged it up for us. Overall we were happy with our food and service. read more

To be fair I have only been here for garlic noodles but when I say they have some of the best, I promise ya. I searched high and low trying different spots for garlic noodles and found this place and go AT LEAST twice a month for them. The staff is always nice and the noodles are my fave. I'm gonna treat myself to a carb boil eventually but for now it satisfies my noodle craving! read more

The place is nice, amazing menu selection. Carmina is very knowledgeable suggested an amazing food selection and sauces that goes with it. We got a aligue crab rice, aligue crab pasta, garlic Parmesan fries, fisherman's half bounty & lobster. The food is crazy delicious. The service is amazing Carmina & the staff are very friendly and attentive to our needs. Very nice dining area with TV to entertain you while dining but I assure you that the food would taker of that part. A lot of tables but not crowded that servers just cruise to bring you your food. A lot of parking that they share it with the whole plaza. They share the restrooms with the market that the restaurant is attached with but cleaned and well maintained. It was my first time at the restaurant, I came in to order to-go. Without carefully looking through the menu I mistakenly ordered just the seafood, and not the corn, potato, etc. Imagine my disappointment when I got home, put in a movie and realized my meal wasn't what I expected. I called the restaurant and expressed my situation. The staff were so understanding, and kind. They asked me to come back to get all the additional items at no charge. I'm so glad I did, because they were so sweet about it, and even got me some extra sauce, and explained the menu for next time. And the food was absolutely delicious, with rich and flavorful sauce. Wow! Love this spot! Definitely get the option with the coconut milk if you can- it's our favorite version of a crab boil. Appropriately spiced. Fresh. Nice and friendly service. The decor is cute with cute wooden fish in nets, great lighting. And the give Refills on the teas! I do wish they had fountain sodas versus just cans, but I love the teas just the same. read more

We have been here when the restaurant is full and times near empty but the food and quality are good. We normally go to Boiling Crab but Crab Mentality offers a touch more in variety so this is nice and different. I love love loved my experience in this restaurant! We were craving seafood but was also in a time crunch and we wanted to get a swift meal in! I called the restaurant and had asked if they were busy and they mentioned that there should be tables available within the 20 minutes we arrived. I then asked how long it would take to cook the meal upon order and they said it would take about 20 minutes. I asked them if they would be able to accommodate us ordering ahead and she said she would try since it had gotten busy with orders from the store and takeouts. I said that would be fine. When we got there, Carmina, the crew I spoke to had asked if was our party and she said we could sit down and they would get to us. In less than a few minutes, she had prepped our table, and had brought out the food we ordered! The ambiance of the place was good and clean. Carmina, had accommodated us and was very friendly to our group. She made sure that we were assisted and had been very friendly to our group! We ordered the CM Family Bundle 1 and this bundle had a Fisherman's Bounty (Full),, 1 Aligue Crab Rice, 1 Garlic Noodles, 1 Chicken Tenders and Fries and Drinks. We did also order their mango float and got some drinks. CM Family Bundle 1 - 10/10 Fisherman's Bounty - we did CM Special Sauce, Mild. It was so good and flavorful! The seafood was very well cooked and it all tasted so amazing. Aligue Rice - it was also very flavourful but since most of the meal was already flavorful, it tasted better when we had added some more white rice in it. Garlic Noodles - DELICIOUS!!!! We loved this so much. It was a bit oily but I felt like it was still delicious eitherway. Fries & Tenders - we loved the dip this came with. The fries were well cooked and was a neutral taste to the meal. The chicken was also delicious not too oily. Mango Float - 10/10 typically, we would expect this to be mango drink with ice cream but was pleasantly surprised with what we got. It was sprite with mango ice cream and I knew from spotting the ice cream that it would be very good. And it was! The ice cream didnt taste artificial at all and the drink just made sense. The CM Tea and Passion Green Tea were also very good drink alternatives if you dont want soda! The meal was so good we had started eating before we even got to taking photos. Me and my husband love this cozy and amazing seafood place. They have incredibly good seafood boil within an affordable price. Their service is top notch. Our server Carmina is a ray of sunshine. She is so welcoming and provides amazing service. She made sure we had everything. She even offered us peach green tea which was absolutely delicious and went so well with the seafood boil. Wow wow wow!!! Located inside the brand new Island Pacific Market food stalls. Our group did the ordering but basically we had the fisherman's bounty I believe which had everything. The best part were the Alaskan crab legs which were the biggest I've ever had at these types of establishments. And they come pre-cut so it makes it so much easier to get into. Their prices are also much more reasonable than other crab boils. The only complaint I have would be that the potatoes were not as soft as they should be, could use a few more minutes. The crab and corn chowder or I call it seafood chowder was also delicious. Surprisingly the chicken tenders and fries were so crispy and flavorful too! read more

It's cheap for a reason. I door dashed the pasta and soup bc of all the great reviews I would never have thought by the name they used fan Krab meat. Have seen how they make that gooey paste. The peach tea was overly sweet have tried the soup yet if it's bad as I anticipate I'll let my dog enjoy it as he liked the pasta krab I never would've gotten if they said it was fake krab read more

There are 3 different dipping sauces which are delicious. It is a lot of food. You definitely get your money worth here. The staff is friendly and attentive. They cooked the seafood at the table. Cousins Francisco Aguilar and Alexis Chacon relocated from Oaxaca to open this mobile mariscos operation. But Simon's seafood-forward menu is innovative and sophisticated, seemingly more at home in a sit-downery than a mobile food cart. Unsurprisingly, Simon has been lauded by news outlets and food critics abound. I've been dying to try Simon, but the limited and often unpredictable hours have kept me from it for months. My partner and I visited for a late weekend lunch and ordered immediately. We opted for 2 tacos (the Soft Shelled Crab and the Baja-style Fish) and a Large Aguachile Negro, and our made-to-order meal was prepared within a few minutes. Between the tacos, the crab was a clear winner. The crispy, whole crab was well-complemented by the fresh pineapple salsa and the rich chipotle crema. In stark contrast, the Baja-style fried fish was one-dimensional in flavor and ran on the soggy side, owing to the watery pickled cabbage slaw. But not even the crab taco could compete with the stellar aguachile. We couldn't get enough of the marinade's rich blend of acidity and smokiness, which overshadowed even the generous helping of fresh shrimp. Simon's complimentary salsa lineup also exceeded expectations. We most enjoyed the earthy salsa macha and the smooth, creamy salsa verde, but the tangy salsa Simon -- the truck's take on taco sauce -- was no slouch, either. Our bill totaled just over $30, and the meal felt reasonably priced and appropriately filling. While the tacos didn't knock my socks off, the aguachile certainly did -- I can't wait to return to try some of Simon's other varieties.
