She recommended a good place to eat while my car was getting it's routine service. I had a light come on my dash a few miles from picking up my new 2024 MDX. I turned around and went back to the dealer. They were great. They got right on it. They offed to give me a different car to drive home, and they would have someone drive my car to my house when they figured out what the problem was. They actually had it fixed in a very short time. I waited for it. Then Fed Ex delivered my new liscence plates to the wrong house. Which we did not figure out till the day my 30-day tags expired. I delt with Matt. had someone drive new 30 day tags to my house that day. Then he got with DMV got a new set of Plates for me and had those delivered to my house the next day. They have taken full responsability and responded faster then I could have expected. I am very happy with them and would recommend them to anyone!!!!! read more

Ok, so there's a lot wrong with this Acura dealership in terms of their auto repair shop. I'm a kind of individual who appreciates customer care and this place needs to have a meeting about their staff. I'll go ahead and number the issues below since there are so many. 1. From the moment you walk into the auto repair shop you're treated like a second class citizen. They know how much you need their service so they have no problem rudely telling you to wait outside the hallway with no explanation. Then when you're called in you're treated by the slimiest and rude workers I've ever met. 2. I've had the "pleasure" of working with, Mike Mereu. Besides his poor personal care, he is extremely rude. No smiles, no small talk, just treats you like a second class citizen. Doesn't tell you how anything is billed just says "keys" and "sign here" and "this is how much it'll be." Something needs to change about this mans customer service. 3. I haven't dealt with the dealership, but the waiting room is located near there. The group here is a different breed of loud and obnoxious individuals who have no problem projecting their complaints so everyone can hear. It's unfortunate because they're the only Acura dealership in the Richmond area so I'll have to put up with their horrible customer service until I can find another auto shop. Update; if you have Gap and Extended Warranty Service added during your purchase please check with your warranty company to insure that you actually still have an active warranty. They canceled mine on three separate occasions without my knowledge. I'm still paying on the warranty not to mention, This is also considered a breach of contract. Also, they provided me with a fake, falsified carfax, so check your car fax also. This company is 100% Fraudulent. I will be back soon with another update. read more

When I walked into the service area Chris was very welcoming and helped me right away. He provides great customer service and really knew what he was talking about. Sold me one of there cars that they had owned for four yrs and w in three wks of owning it timing belt broke while on the way back to the dealership. Upon inspection by Crowns mechanic asked me if I had replaced the timing belt? Of course I replied I had only purchased the car three wks prior. Mechanic then informs me that the timing belt had already been replaced but incorrectly. Well needless to say Crown wanted me to pay to repair this car that only had 78k miles on it w it's second belt on it. I refused and to make a long story short w put in another car front loaded price so now I'm stuck in a 2014 for 7 yrs and payment doubled. Very disappointed with the service department. No one acknowledged me after 5min of standing at service counter, then a very rude consultant told me he couldn't do anything because "everyone is at lunch." Went to Wallace Automotive--they checked my tire, put a plug in it in less than 20 min during "lunch time." Worst experience at a dealership and will not be purchasing a 2016 here--will go up to a dealer in Northern VA or Maryland. Awesome staff here, true professionalism at its finest.. They could teach a class on the subject. Anthony, Tim, Shashank, and all the guys who work in the service office who's names I forget as well. Lobby area always filled to the brim with water bottles, snacks, and coffee. The last time I came by was for an issue with my SRS light coming on, they diagnosed it in about an hour and informed me it was under warranty, they did not have the part in the back unfortunately but would have it in the next day. Obviously this is all free of charge and in the end the gave me a complimentary wash. No one wants to have their car fixed/worked on but coming here takes some of the suckiness out of it. read more

I can say it has always been a great feeling to be able to bring your car to these folks and never be taken advantage of. i have brought my car to these folks back in the day, after I had an oil change closer to my home and the mechanic says I have something wrong with my car only to find their was nothing wrong with my car at all. I now never go to anyone else but Acura, since I can't trust the small mom and pops to do an oil change, I save more time to take it across town and have piece of mind, knowing my car is diagnosed and fixed correctly the first time. Buying experience was great. We purchased the maintenance package and extended warranty. My MDX has never been to another shop or dealership for service (it was pre-owned) so I decided to keep the trend. Yesterday I brought it in for an oil change/tire rotation and dropped it off. I wish the process was a little quicker as I had a co-worker waiting for me to drop it off and get to work, however, overall it was nothing to complain about. This is an upscale car brand, but don't expect a white glove in every service you receive from them. The service department is still just a service department - and that's okay! I trust that they are knowledgeable about the vehicles they inspect day in and day out and am very pleased with the level of service received. read more

After years of using other shops to maintain my Mom's Acura TSX, Richmond Acura has gained back my trust. I called yesterday afternoon never expecting to actually get a Saturday afternoon appointment, but they were happy to work me in. We arrived hours early to drop off the vehicle and head to breakfast. Mike called to report that her battery (three or four years old) needed replacement but that her service requests and state inspection had gone fine. We appreciated that Mike warned us about the battery before heading into the very cold months of Virginia, was honest about an available discount and had the vehicle serviced very quickly and returned the vehicle to her washed and vacuumed. This is the way service is supposed to be--and this morning, Mike and the Richmond Acura Service Department met our very high expectations. read more

Crown Acura Richmond espouses a service commitment of "Excellence at every turn...and every straightaway," however this was not my experience on 11/15/2018 where they failed to meet their own standards. Crown Acura Richmond replaced a rear caliper on my vehicle (1996 Acura Integra), and when I attempted to drive it off of the lot the brake pedal was relatively unresponsive and the emergency brake did not work at all as I proceeded to roll toward oncoming traffic on Broad St. I reversed the car and carefully returned to the service department. I had the service advisor drive the vehicle to experience what I experienced. It was determined that the brakes had not been bled properly and it was obvious to me that the vehicle had not been test driven prior to it being returned to me. Not only should the brakes be properly bled, after the type of repair I had performed, but the vehicle should be test driven prior to it being returned to me to drive. Based on my experience, research, and having spoken with mechanics, it appears that neither of these two things occurred. Crown Acura Richmond's response: my car was taken back, and the brake bleeding and test driving took place. After requesting to speak with Ken Windsor (Service Manager) in writing regarding this experience/failure and not receiving a requested phone call, and me physically requesting to speak to him at the service center, I received multiple statements of "I am sorry." This is not the service nor the customer service I am accustomed to. I received excuses as to what occurred ("air bubbles" and statements that the vehicle was test driven - I do not believe these to be factual statements) and no reasons as to why I should get my vehicle serviced at Crown Acura Richmond in the future, or indicators that my business is valued or that it would be valued in the future. I was not offered a discount on the service I had performed (as it relates to the aforementioned failures) or a future service due specifically to the technician's obvious negligence and putting my safety at risk. In my opinion there were 3 fails that occurred: brakes were not properly bled, vehicle was not test driven, and "excellent" customer service was not provided. Let it be noted that I have been getting my 1996 Acura Integra serviced at Crown Acura Richmond for almost 17 years. After e-mailing and speaking with the General Manager, Matt Perry, I am relatively confident that checks and balances have been put in place, and I hope that a similar experience does not occur in the future with another customer. In closing I would like it to be noted that Mr. Perry did not offer me a discount or eliminate the charge for the service (Caliper repair) I had performed due to these specific failures, which I feel would have demonstrated goodwill or possibly shown that my continued patronage is desired and valued. This was disappointing. At this point I am unsure if I will have a vehicle serviced at Crown Acura Richmond in the future. read more

This dealership has been sub par from the beginning. The actual purchase of the my RDX was not above board. It had serious defects that they did not inform me about until I brought it up with them a week after buying it. Of course every time I have to have it serviced,there is always an issue. They almost never have a record of my appointment. Then they try to get me to replace parts, such as the windshield wipers that are perfectly fine. When there was an issue with my transmission, they added several hundred dollars in repairs that were unnecessary. And today, after scheduling an appointment for an inspection, they had scheduled it for when their mechanics go to lunch...and then act like it was my fault for scheduling it. I bought my 2008 Acura TL Type-S from Crown Acura in Richmond, VA on 1/26/2011. I bought this car with 30K miles on the clock and with a squeaky clean carfax; I was so in love with this car and I felt that I was getting an outrageously awesome deal. Was told it was bought at Crown, Serviced at Crown, and had never had any issues and as the carfax showed had never been in a wreck or anything. It was a certified pre-owned which means it went through a 150 point inspection and had the 100K mile warranty on it. I bought the car and have loved it ever since. It took me 2 weeks and 4+ phone calls to get the second set of keys however I got them so I was happy. The last time I was having my oil changed at Tischer Acura on 12/2/11 I spoke with the service manager about some white spots on my passenger side rear quarter that looked like sealant pop to me and to which he responded the quarter had been resprayed and that it would not be covered under the warranty and it would be a somewhat costly repair. This was news to me as I was told this car had NEVER had body work done and it was the same thing carfax said. After I got him I called Crown Acura and spoke with an employee who stated the service manager Mike was out for the day and he would leave him a note to call me back the next day. I never received a call from Mike so I called him the afternoon of 12/3/2011. Upon speaking to Mike he told me that the car looked great when he sold it so he didnt know what I was expecting him to do and that I needed to understand I bought a used car and he cant help that it seems to have been repaired on the previous persons own accord (who was a leaser) and that he would ask the GM and Acura what his responsibilities would be to me on the car and said he would also contact the previous owner to check about the repair. He then said the only way he could possibly help me out was if I drove down to Richmond, VA (3 hour drive) and let his people look at it. I told him I could drive down the next day or the next Saturday and Mike said he would set me up a time and date after he spoke with the GM and Acura. However I have still not received a call from Mike or anyone at Acura regarding my issue. So now I am left out in the dust to either live with it or spend my own money to fix a car I was sold as never having any accidents and such. Best Bait and Switch Service in Town - Crown Acura Service Center Sucks! To Crown Acura Service Center Service Manager and Crown Acura GM: Crown Acura Service Center offered the worst customer experience! It was my first time and last time doing business there. Customers, beware. Called Service Center to get a quote of tow hitch. Did plenty of MDX OEM tow hitch vs. after market tow hitch research in advance of call so I knew exactly what I needed, asked for quote and got told $620 for everything. When dropping my car off for service 3 days later, was told the price was $200 more (STRIKE ONE), which was unacceptable. After haggling with Emil Salib on that, we asked if there were any Cyber Monday Deals and Emil said, "Let me see what I can do. How about $640, total", which we accepted. When we arrived to pick up car, Emil gives us a bill for $794 (STRIKE TWO)! We asked what happened to $640, and crooked Emil says "I never said $640, I said 10% off." (STRIKE THREE) At this time, we lost all trust in Emil and felt like we were getting lied to and screwed so we took it to the manager. Because of Matt (who was either Sales Manager or General Manager, of course we don't know because they don't list anyone on the http://www.crownacurarichmond.com website), we walked out of there paying the agreed upon amount of $640, but because of Emil, we are never going back. Crown Acura Service Center is crooked and dishonest. Customers, beware. We loved buying the car from the dealership side of the house. Anthony Easter made it a great car buying experience. Cannot believe how different Service is from Dealership. If anyone over there cares, please investigate! If service calls are recorded, I encourage you to listen on 11/29/17, between 10 and 10:40 am for the call. Start there, then put yourself in our shoes. If you aren't getting a high rate of repeat customers at the Service Center, then take a look into your Service Manager's practices. Time to clean up. You've got a lot of good people working hard for you in the front. It's a shame the customer experience isn't carried through to the back. The only way I'd ever go back to Crown Acura Service Center is if there has been serious reforms to practices starting with whoever is in charge back there. For example, put everything in writing. If you quote someone something over the phone, put it in writing. If you quote someone something at the time of drop off, put it in writing. Be transparent about all the charges the customer will expect to pay. Why aren't you guys already doing this? Had I known the Service experience was so bad, I would have purchased the Acura MDX with better trim for sale at Lexus that didn't have a Warranty. Been taking my 2004 TL to James Fiden and Crown ever since I needed to get my timing belt done at the 100k mile mark. My baby now has 220k miles and I love her just as much today as I did when I first bought her. After that initial visit, I started to price quote my old mechanic vs Crown and I found that the regular maintenance like oil changes, tires and brakes etc. were competitively priced, sometimes even cheaper. They will also use my Amsoil synthetic oil that I bring them. So the deciding factor for me was James and having my car check in with the dealer where there is more of a concentration of knowledge around Acura vehicles in general. James has never steered me wrong in his recommendations, has saved me some money and trouble on more than one occasion. Kudos! read more

This review is for service department. I contacted the service department on 12-18-2017 for an issue with a tire that was losing air. I wanted to ensure that there was not a slow leak in the tire. I can add regular air myself, however my tires are nitrogen filled. The service advisor by the name of Mike Mereu was the most unprofessional advisor I have ever met. First off he did not introduce himself or ask my name, year ,make, model of vehicle. Next he directed me to the parts department to purchase batteries for my keyless remotes. The parts advisor Daniel was the best, he assisted my with the battery and even went the extra mile to show my husband and I how to install battery for future questions. Ok now back to Mr. Merue who obviously wanted to go round 2. So this "advisor" Mike has filled my tire with regular air and has is back so fast he couldn't have possibly checked for a leak and says your car is parked outside and hands my my other remote. I ask him did he fill them with nitrogen because that's what I wanted. He acted as if he was hard of hearing, I ask again and he walks off, shrugs his shoulders so now I'm aware he heard my question. All this took place in front of his manager Ken W and Kim Council. Ken immediately listened to my concern because his advisor was not being a customer service professional at all. Kim Council was my previous advisor my last visit prior to this and she is indeed the best advisor at Crown. She will get you an answer and address your concerns. She does not treat customers as if they are a number, she treats my family very respectfully and that means a lot. Mike you should never carry yourself in a manner that reflect badly on your organization. Be professional, know your job, and do it with pride. Look in the mirror and ask yourself would you want to bring your vehicle to a place that lets employees disrespect the customers. I'm pretty sure my tire was not repaired properly, although nitrogen was added. I was serviced too fast and the overall experience was not what I'm used too. I had my 2017 TLX service a couple weeks ago and had the worst experience. I really hate to take my car to this dealer for service because I dread have to deal with the Service Advisors. They really aren't very friendly. I have 4 cars right now all different brands and when I take my other cars to the various brand dealers, the Sevice Advisors always greet you and welcome you. Not here for me. The last time I went for service I was dreading the experience (a feeling you shouldn't have). I pulled in and no one to meet me. Went in to where they were and no eye contact at first with either of the 3 advisors. Finally one of them asked what I needed. I proceeded to give them my drivers license and and old insurance card because I forgot my current card at home. The advisor said he needed a current insurance card to give me a loaner and I said I thought I had a current one but didn't realize the one I had was old till I got it out of the glove compartment. I told him he could call State Farm and get info and he proceeded again with an attitude to tell me he wouldn't give me a loaner without updated insurance card. As I mentioned, I expected the worst service when I got there which it appeared I was getting and I then told him he could f---en call insurance company. He then stood up and said I don't have to take that langauage and give you service. I asked for the Service Manager( I shouldn't have dropped the F bomb but I was already upset with the service). After about 10 minutes the Service Manager finally showed up with and attitude before he even asked what could have gotten a customer so upset. I explained what happened and also reminded him of the call I had with him a few months earlier on my last service visit with another of his advisors. I told him I called and told him of the bad experience with another of his Service Advisors and he apparently didn't care to remember or look that up. He just said the advisors has gotten awards for his service. I really don't know how. I have never seen him in a good mood or given me good service. After this conversation with the Service Manager I told him he could call my insurance to verify I had coverage. He said fine and for me to go to the waiting room and he would be out later after he got to it. I waited for about 15 minutes for him and while waiting I called and had State Farm email me my updated info. When he SM finally came out he said State Farm wouldn't give it to him and I said I was able to get it. He then said go wait for an advisor. I went back in and one advisor left the room, the other said he was busy, and the other would t look at me. The advisor that left was outside talking with the Service Manager and it was very apparent about me because he was looking at me and looked angry. I went out and the Service Manager was basically talking in a very upset voice to me and finally told me to leave and to make another appointment because he wasn't going to service my car and didn't have to. I had this appointment for over 2 weeks because I was leaving town the next day. I spoke with the General Manager and told him what happened that day as well as before. I also told him I shouldn't have dropped the F bomb but it just slipped out cause I was so upset with them. He offered to come get my car and I told him I would bring it back. He had it serviced and brought back to me. I have always been impressed with the sales staff and General Managera at this dealership. They were great with my buying experience and the people who work on the car do great work. It's just having to work with the Service Advisors. I really dread that. The Service Manager had to be he worst in my opinion. He never tried to see why I was upset and he just made it worst by getting angry with me and telling me to leave. He really made the issue worst. Not even a call to apologize. I really would like to talk with the owner about the issue but when you call, they send you back to the dealership you had problems with. read more

Three strikes and you are out. Here is what happened from my interactions with this dealership. Most recent first: 1) Scheduled an appointment to have my airbags replaced under a the recall. I live an hourr a way in Charlottesville, VA and took the day off to wait for my car to be repaired due to my first encounter with this dealership. Arrived there this morning 10 minutes before my 0900 appointment and was told "I am sorry, your parts aren't here". I asked well what are we going to do about this. The person at the desk said he could do nothing, I asked about sending someone to get my car when the air bags come in. He said we can't do that. I asked why no one called me to let me know my parts were not available so I didn't drive an hour to Richmond. He stated, " just missed it". I asked what about the other people in the service department, "All ten off them missed it too". "I said I am sorry." *** I have this interaction recorded and would be happy to send it to anyone who wants a copy. 2) In ~January 2016 I saw an Acura RL with 12k miles and the SH-AWD for sale on their website and filled out the form to get information. I was contacted by a salesman and told "they can't sell that one" because the airbags hadn't been replaced. He even said it would be "illegal" to sell it to me. Sounds like a bait-and-switch to me. 3) Scheduled a repair on my car for a Friday and stated I would be dropping it off Thursday night. I called on Friday ~1500 to find out if it was finished and how much the total was. The service department stated they hadn't even looked at it yet. In fact they weren't even going to look at it until at least Monday. I think it was Wednesday before I finally got my car back, may have bee Tuesday but it was at least four days. 4) When I was dropping my car off for the above repairs I spent ~45 minutes in the car lot and was interested in an Acura RL with a window sticker of $32k. NO one ever came out to ask me if I was interested in a vehicle even though the last 30 minutes I was walking around with my son who came to pick me up. Congratulations Crown Acura, last time you sold me another vehicle (well I didn't purchase it from Crown Acura but you are the reason I bought it somewhere else see 3 and 4) and now you are selling me another luxury brand. Here is what sucks. I love Acura vehicles and loved my interactions with Pohanka Acura in Chantilly, VA, but obviously do not own an Acura in central Virginia, because the only place to have it factory maintained is Crown Acura. It gets better: Paul (804-527-6891) at Crown Acura just called me at 08JUL16@1233 to tell me he tried calling my house while I was driving the hour back home and "the lady that answered the phone refused to give my cell phone number" when I explained it was included in the form I filled out for my appointment he stated my home number was the only number he has for me. When I stated he should look at my appointment where I entered my number, he hung up on me. I have this conversation recorded as well! read more

Here is my rational for my rating of the "Crook Acura of Richmond" 1) They would not honor a valid and non-expired coupon they mailed me for a brake job when I take my car for that service. 2) They mislead me into turning my perfectly fine rotors falsely stating that turning was a required step mandated by American Honda Motor Co. I've since then checked with AHM's client relations who confirmed that turning the rotor is required only when brakes have certain symptoms like shudder or noise; neither of which existed on my vehicle. The process involves shaving off metal from the rotor thus shortening its life and more prone to warping due to frictional heat. 3) They only topped off the brake fluid when the work order clearly states "Install New Brake Fluid" which would make any reasonable customer like me believe that they were going to drain old brake fluid before installing new one... Has the greed to make quick bucks made them stoop down to the level where they can put people's lives at danger by compromising the #1 safety feature on an automobile? read more

Mike in service took very good care of me on price, matching some of the local indi shops for an MDX timing belt job. Not only that, they gave me a new TLX loaner for the day. They did not recommend unnecessary add on services nor try to BS me with other sketchy products like other dealers have. I purchased my Acura TL from Crown Acura 4 months ago and I love the car! I dealt with Tim and Jon and had a great buying experience...My first service department visit for an oil change, I was impressed with Mike Mereu and he was so helpful...HOWEVER my next visit for semi-annual detail (included in my coverage) was HORRIBLE!! Cesar was condescending and told me I did not need a detail since the car was fairly new and the services were previously done..He also said, didn't they explain it to you. Told me repeatedly that I didn't need it but if I wanted he would do it..I explained I have a dog and wanted to car kept up and I sat there flabbergasted and then took my keys and walked away. Maybe it was me but he was very loud..I have always been told it's not what you say but how you say it. I had to go to work afterwards so I left and called the Service Mgr -Ken en route. The staff is very helpful, quick and friendly - truly professional. I wouldn't even consider having my MDX serviced elsewhere because I trust that Crown Acura will take care excellent care of my car at a reasonable cost.
